Hey! Just wanted to say your art alone has single-handedly been dragging me into Stobotnik fandom despite having barely any knowledge in Sonic whatsoever.

I did have two questions, though! (They totally didn't pop into mind while I was scrolling through your page, looking at your amazing art, totally not at all)

1) Between the two of them, do you think one of them holds a little more power (for lack of a better word) in the relationship? Like, does one of them fold more often than the other? Or is it more equal?

And

2) Can you explain the Pebble and Egg lore a bit? I love their little comics, and I've been trying to piece it together, but I'm still a little lost 😅

Yay, glad you've joined us! I don't have that much Sonic knowledge either, to be honest. I used to play the original game and I watched the anime when I was little, but the only reason I watched the movies to begin with was that my niece asked me to!

As for your questions, well, I think the obvious answer is that Robotnik holds more power, simply because Stone is THAT obedient and loyal. Also, I would say Stone perceives Robotnik's affection as more conditional, so he would fold immediately if it meant not risking the Doctor leaving him.

That being said, Stone is not aware of just how much power he has here. I've tried to show it very subtly, but I think Robotnik respects Stone's opinion a lot, so if Stone pushes even a little bit, if he insist just for a second, then Robotnik will listen. His reasoning is that, since Stone never argues, the times he does must mean he's VERY convinced, and well, Stone is not stupid, so that's worth listening to!

So yeah, their relationship is rather equal in that sense, but they both think Robotnik is the one calling the shots.

As for Pebble and Egg, there isn't a lot of lore! I came up with them as a joke and somehow they created a plot for themselves. In general, post canon Robotnik is trying to experiment with combining cloning tech with AI, and he created these two as a test/experiment. And then as soon as they both woke up, they started smooching. Robotnik's been suffering the consequences ever since.

Do you have examples of eggman being gay in the games ???

Yeah I've posted them a bunch of times but now is another good time to bring them back in the tags, now that the long awaited rise of gay Eggman in fandom is finally happening. So while I could link the old post I'll do it again

There's actually a good amount of things in games, tie-ins, and spin offs that serve as reasonable basis to have the headcanon, which can't be said for most other sexuality hcs- the most solid ones are ones that have at least something in the media to point to

Earliest example is Sonic Adventure, where he has a hallway full of these statues of the torsos of the toned muscular male form in interesting poses. Better yet, they're located in HOT Shelter lol

This doesn't have any heterosexual explanation because Eggman is known for either completely replacing existing statues with statues of himself or defacing and slapping his face onto others.

When he completely makes them himself/replaces them entirely like the former, he also always gives them his accurate body shape, he embraces his fat and doesn't depict himself as buff. The only time this doesn't apply is when they're already existing statues he has defaced

Either way, the way these don't have his face or share absolutely any of his visage, especially when his logo and face is already all over the rest of the Egg Carrier too- including around the very area of the statues, tells us he really just wanted these statues of men that aren't himself... 🤨🏳️‍🌈

There's also this beautiful art from Sonic Channel which is ran by Sonic Team/Sega Japan as the actual creators and owners of the character, depicting him doing something you could just as easily see him doing at a pride parade, if he weren't preferably chilling in the comfort of his own luxurious pool room instead

Of course people who get real defensive and mad at rainbows being gay say "omg it's nooot you don't own rainbows waaa" but Sega of Japan are VERY vocal supporters of Tokyo rainbow pride and LGBT acceptance and support and not just in June for points. It wouldn't be far fetched for Sonic Team JP to do a nod towards it. But regardless of intention, I think lounging back shirtless with a giant rainbow shaved ice is pretty gay lol

And while they're spin offs and involve Mario/Nintendo so they can't be canon to the main games, he's also very gay in the Olympics too and they count as examples of him being gay in at least some kind of games too XD

Really just getting outright flirty with the men very blatantly

Him saying someone else has dashingly good looks alongside himself is especially gay and significant, coming from his extremely egotistical ass that would usually never say someone else looks good in any capacity. He could've just said only himself in his true self centered fashion

Agreeing to go on a literal sightseeing date with Bowser, saying it's a worthy way to spend his time, and strolling along happily with him

So yeah there were always signs and things that could be used as pretty solid basis for it. I honestly feel game Eggman had way more of a reasonable basis for it than jimbotnik for a long time since 1998 with Adventure, since Stobotnik honestly seemed pretty one sided for a while to me

I'm glad the movies are making more people start to consider gay Eggman but now all I wanna ask is for y'all to see how game Eggman was doing it long before it was recognized and considered cool! XD

Ships

Today I wanted to discuss about Ships.

Ships excist in every fandom, Splatoon, poppy playtime, heck even sonic movie.

Ships:- (Not boat) Is a two, three, heck it can be even 10 people/characters paired, canonicly or fanonicly.

Fanonical or canon character shipped people/characters mostly have ship names combining the names into one name like- Sonadow (Sonic+Shadow), Pearlina (Pearl+Marina), Alphine (Undine+Alphys).

Shipped but not aproved

Shipped but not aproved character ships are those ships that are very much looks canon but not aprooved by the game maker/writer or etc.

Pearlina- Their ship is very much seen to be canon by the Splatoon fans and I can tottaly see that. From Marina calling pearl Senpai in japanese to Side order Marina's instagram posts (Marina's dev diaries). Tho this ship seems to be canon, it was very much denied by Nintendo, probably to not get parent disgust for the game (Remember the Acht situation before Side order released?)

Sonamy- (This ship can be argued so please do not judge) The ship is seen canon by most of Sonic fans (some also like Sonadow, Sonablaze and more! I don't judge them because I am myself Sonadow shipper :)) But is very hardly denied by SEGA because how toxic the relashionship is seen through the games or even series. Sonic sees Amy as a friend, partner, while Amy is the big fan of Sonic that was also crushing on him. But through the years SEGA has been trying to change her into an independed person and eventually a bit wiping off history from games (for reffrence see Sonic Generations (2024 ver.) V.s. the 2011 ver.)

Another ship I'll be talking about is

STOBOTNIK!!!!!

Everyone who watched the Sonic movies know the best character ship in there, STOBOTNIK (Agent Stone+Robotnik). Because of their relashionship in the movies. And the ship is not canon or still not aprooved bcs THE MOVIE IS FOR CHILDREN (Well....Lots of people might disagree and say it should be for adults. But you do understand, MAYBE KIDS NOW ARE INTRESTED IN THE FANDOM JUST LIKE YOU WERE WHEM PLAYING ON THE DREAMCAST SA2 BEING 7 YEARS OLD)

Even agent's stone actor aprooves this ship ;).

So continuing on.....It was shipped because how Agent Stone and Dr. Robotnik were interacting with each other from 1 movie to the 3 movie.

But seeing how everyone ships them, In a......freaky way 💀💀💀. (Not that I'm judging).

Stobotnik fanfic recs 👀

ngl I have been pondering this ask since I got it because I have never read any stobotnik fanfic. It's not one of my AO3 favourite tags and there isn't even any writing in the tumblr tags I've shared.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the pairing. I think of it as canon. It's just not something I've delved into.

So I'm throwing this out to my followers. Do any of you have any fanfic recommendations? This would be the time to shamelessly self promote if you are an author.

I looked through the book journal notes I took while reading the first movie novelization and thought I'd share some of my favourite Stobotnik scenes:

• ' "And that would be you, Mister—" [...] "DOCTOR Robotnik is the Defense Department's top engagement analyst," Stone said '

• ' Stone said in a clipped tone so beautiful it was almost mechanical. '

Since the narrator always seems to speak from the current main character's POV, which is Robotnik in this case, I'll just add this to the list of evidence that Stobotnik is canon. Not only because of the "beautiful" but because "so beautiful it was almost mechanical" is a connection between Stone and (Robotnik's) machines, who are, in his own words, "everything to [him]".

(He also goes on to brag about how amazing Robotnik is, but this post is long enough as it is)

• ' Even his deadpan yes-man could not compete with the beauty of his botniks. '

'EVEN'

• This one's a bit of a stretch but hey: ' Robotnik reared up with a snarl and began banging at his busted controls. "Why? Why would you throw your life away for this... thing? That's why I only have robots, never friends," he said. "They make you irrational." '

He has totally never had conflicting thoughts about Agent Stone, no sir. (But on a more serious note, this is really sad)

• ' Over a month and still no signs of intelligent life on this rock. What a bliss. '

Oh, really, now? That's interesting, since this happened literally one line ago:

' "What's that, Agent Stone?" he said to the toadstool that sat on the machine, its front painted with a sticky pair of sunglasses. "Thank you. I like your new look, too." '

Despite being oh so happy he's completely alone, away from humanity, he decides to do this anyway (and is actually nice for once? It's a miracle). Yeah, no more proof needed. They're in love and I don't care who tells me otherwise.

' The door to the lab opened up, and the shadow of Agent Stone fell over Robotnik, mid-thrust. '

do you like stobotnik? Doesn't have to be just movie stobotnik either, I know stone doesn't exist in the canon context outside of the movies but I love him and in my imagination he does.. if so do you have any headcanons about him and robotnik that you'd like to share or think are interesting?

i do like stobotnik quite a lot, actually! i'm very easily swayed by romantic angst so the entirety of sonic 3 was very painful for me 😞 if robotnik doesn't come back in the fourth movie and live happily ever after with stone (platonic or otherwise, i just want a goddamn happy ending) i will genuinely crash out so hard 😒😒

also, very self indulgent given that i'm les, but genderbent stobotnik has me in a chokehold that i don't ever wanna get out of 🙇‍♀️

i also love imagining him in other contexts outside of the movies! a tumblr user i used to follow (they unfortunately deleted their account and did not make a backup of their art) did a bunch of art of robotnik and stone in different games/shows. i would share the few pieces that i saved for my personal collection, but im not fond of doing so when i don't have a way to ask the artist for their permission :[

as far as headcanons go, i admittedly fall flat. all i care about is that they get married one day 💔💔 im usually so swept up in my own oc x canon stuff that i honestly don't consume a lot of stobotnik content (and my recent stint of not regularly using tumblr hasn't helped, either). i definitely repost art if it catches my eye, but for the most part, i personally just really like their canon dynamic :]

Um. Hum. Humhum. How do I word this without spoilering. Hmmmm. Let's just say that neither Robotnik got really rid of his trust issues, nor Stone of his own abandonment issues. They learnt to navigate it while in a setting that only included the two of them - cuz let's be honest, the last ten or so fics were basically them, living in a little bubble of their own making.

Gerald (and Shadow, a bit) are basically invading that bubble, which brings a whole new thing to deal with. And that thing is a manipulative Grandpa.

Does that suffice so far?

(I'm honest, I might even be stretching this a bit just so it will fit with the canon of S3. I just hope that it still seems realistic enough.)

Her baby son Khaled has been suffering from health issues due to the horrible conditions that Gazans are forced to live in. 6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably "wear me down, it's not in my hands now"; it's about a sibling relationship falling apart lol. i don't write a lot of fics that end on angst.

7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of mine don't end on such emotional notes or are longfics/wips, but the one that stands out is "say yes to me" which was a Gale/Tav oneshot that I still think is really cute!

8) Do you get hate on fics?

No and god willing it remains that way!

9) Do you write smut?

I kind of do. missing the mark and memento mori are both smutfics (HEED THE TAGS) but are really very fraught with other darker tones. I wrote them when I was going through a really bad place in my life and I can't reread them now--proud of them, but can't reread. Any attempt to write smut ever since has fallen flat out of... idk. Something blocking me. I'd like to do it again one day.

10) Do you write crossovers?

No, and I likely never will. I don't enjoy them.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not... to my knowledge. I wouldn't mind if so.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

"A longing that's killing me" was written by @symphorine but a joint effort between us in terms of plotting it out; likewise, "Over Tea" was written by me but with their help :) I count those.

14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?

All of my favorite ships are OC x OC ships with my friends, tbh. In terms of OC/Canon my top two are Steelstep from FHR and Revan/Malak from KOTOR. Canon/Canon is uhh Stobotnik from the Sonic movie series tbh.

15) What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I would love to finish the smutfic with Illario/Andrea. It's set post-VG and is more of a character analysis through sex lol... In it's current state I could post it with strong mature tones, but I'd like to actually write the smut.

16) What are your writing strengths?

I'm told that my dialogue and world-building are my strengths! I do love writing dialogue a lot. World-building not so much but I work hard to make up for my distaste.

I actually really hate editing, which is bad, because I fuck up my tenses and definitive articles a lot :(

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I don't know enough of a language so fluently to do so. If someone else does I'll translate it.

hahaha. I've actually always liked it, but I've never considered writing it. I've never played a Sonic game, actually, and I know the Sonic fandom can be. Um. Intense?

(Not necessarily in a bad way? But I don't know that I could engage with canon in a way that would satisfy a lot of them, haha.)

That said, I've skimmed fic a few times and never really found any of it that satisfied me, either. To be clear, I only skimmed a few times, so I'm not saying that nothing good exists. But I didn't find anything that quite gave me what I wanted, either. I guess I'd probably have to write it if I want it to exist.

id like to say i dont think it needs to be a perfect adaptation of sa2 and i think they were right to NOT do that!!! the most obvious part being presenting shadow as nothing but a threat until the reveal is impossible now, seeing as sa2 is such an astronomically popular game

good: i LOVE how they expand upon maria. in game canon, i kinda hate how shadow and maria have only known each other for like. a few months. a year maybe. my ideal version is super fanfic-y so i think this is the perfect way to do it in a normal, canon-sounding way [tangent: my "ideal" way of shadow and maria in game canon is maria being sent up when she was about 2 and dying when she was specifically 17. this is because it means she still gets to be shadow's older sister and shadow gets to age at a normal rate. literally just because i don't like the idea that shadow doesnt age/ages slowly. so i can draw old shadow weinkly. thats literally it.]

bad: THEY LEFT OUT HER TERMINAL ILLNESS???? idc what you say about how good her story is that's just plain ableism

good: shadow is so good. soooo good. he's so fluffy and cute and pretty. literally the only nitpick i had was "he's a bit too cute because i couldnt find him menacing" but then i remembered my perception of "cute" is somewhat warped lol

bad: literally nothing shadow was just as peak as he was in sa2. only complaint i might have is i prefer his game VAs (other than kirk. kirk i love you and you get too much hate but um. theres way better) but even then i think keanu did a really good job

good: i think gerald was. oh. gerald was alright. it's genuinely so impressive how they pulled off him and robotnik being played by 1 actor like jesus christ!!! and i think the direction they went was good too.

bad: he's annoying and i dont like him and idc it should have been rouge hell i dont even care if rouge is a human to save money it just should have been rouge

good: TAILS IS ACTUALLY GOOD AND IMPORTANT AND I LOVE HIM YAYYYYYYYY HE DOES STUFF HE CONTRIBUTES HEAVILY TO THE PLOT YAYYYYYYYY HES SOOOOO FLUFFY HES SO. TAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

good: I ALSO LOVE KNUCKLES WACHOWSKI!!!!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!!!!! knuckles is so good in this film and because i didnt mention it in the tails part the team sonic dynamic is soooooo good like sonic heroes level good

bad: knuckles they didnt even make me hate you in the knuckles show i just hated everything else ❤️ [tangent: tbf i didnt really watch the knuckles show but my brother did and. ugh.]

good: i love how sonic is in this film like it reminds me of boom!sonic in a way with how he's both slightly less mature than game sonic and also Ready To Kill if prompted. ok maybe him being like boom!sonic is a stretch i just love sonic boom so much

bad: i mean hes kind of annoying but hes annoying in the typical sonic way so i have to excuse it. i do prefer game sonic because he's cooler but movie sonic is cute so yayyyy

good: maddie had a role!!!!!!! maddie!!!! was important to the plot!!!!!!!!!

bad: because the parallel is a love triangle from a telenovela it makes eggy and gerald have weird. incestual undertones. probably unintended but it did make me ever so slightly uncomfortable

good: OVERALL this was a brilliant film and i needed my inhaler by the mid credits scene. like i was desperate for the toilet for the whole final act and i SPRINTED to the toilet and back when the credits started because i didnt wanna miss anything

bad: please for the love of god include more women and also if theres any israeli propaganda in future sonic stuff (thankfully not this) i will execute you

Welp let's see how this goes. I've been doing the writing thing for a little over two years, I think? Time has flown and I have done... little.

How many works do you have on AO3? 21.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 57,611. None of which have reached over the 12,000 mark.

3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Something, Old, New, Broken and Blue at number 1, followed by Something Precious, a Bold Beginning, My Soul Says Ouch and Match Made in Vain. The top 3 are for Stranger Things, and the 4th and 5th are for Mafia: Definitive Edition. I reckon the top ones are at the top mainly because they're a bigger fandom.

4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do, I'm always so happy when I get them, but I worry I sound like a broken record. there's only so many ways to thank someone for reading and commenting, even though I'm overjoyed every time it happens.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Possibly Ready for Table for Doctor Who's The Two Doctors, since that doesn't end in a good spot for the main character, but the canon story has a good ending, so you know it's going to be ok. Probably Bon Appetit, for Mafia: DE, since it's a dark yandere cannabilism fic.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? That's a tough one, most of mine have happy endings. Possibly My Soul Says Ouch, since the characters spend so long pining over each other before getting together? Also my only polyam fic, (or at least where it's not just implied) so 50% extra love?

7. Do you write crossovers? I haven't, none have really occurred to me. I don't usually read them either, but if it's done well, I'll read it.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not hate per se, but I did have one commenter who didn't like some things, and told me I could change things, and didn't need to stick to the canon. I quite liked my choices, though, and so did other kinder commenters. I do the fic for me, first and foremost.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Not in anything I've posted, but I'm currently writing a Galavant fic that has some, for angst reasons. I did have a tad in A Bold Beginning, but I danced around the subject so much that I don't think it counts. I'm ace, which I don't think helps much, I'm basing most of it off of what I've read.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope. Wouldn't mind if someone did though.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope.

13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Mega tough one. Good Omens got me into it, but I haven't read much of them. Stobotnik, since I only watched the films for them? Two/Jamie? I read a lot of Johnlock, but that was ages ago. Geraskier? I think I just binge a ship and return to it if I really liked it. Depends if the ship's small or big, I guess.

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I had a mermaid!Tommy au I tried to get going for a long while, but kept getting stuck on logistics. An omegaverse mafia fic, an angsty guilt fic, and even a fic for Forever (TV show from 2014). Plus a bunch of ideas that hit while I was writing something else, and I'd lost the fixation by the time I finished. There's still a few sticky notes with ideas in my phone, from inspo at work. I think I get a lot more ideas than I manage to write :(

15. What are your writing strengths? Beginnings. I love nothing more than going "Bang! Here's what's happening." Otherwise, I dunno what my strengths might be. Writing in full sentences for the first draft?

16. What are your writing weaknesses? Hanging on to the motivation to finish a fic. Not using a variation of the phrase "All they could do was hope." Nearly put that in thrice in three chapters by mistake, I'm sure it's getting old. Motivation for sure though, I miss the days when I was writing tropey one-shots, at least they were one and done.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I haven't really had a need to do it, and would worry about formatting if I did. Closest I've had to this was a heavily accented character, but I didn't really know how to write an accent and so I didn't write it in. Not sure if I'd do it that way again, but it made it easier.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Mafia: Definitive Edition. Wrote my first fic in one of my last year 12 math classes. Also the fandom that made me switch from looking at tumblr on Pinterest to actually being on tumblr. There wasn't enough content, so I had to go searching, and then make my own.

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? Really want to throw my hat into the ring on Wez/The Golden Youth, from Mad Max 2, but the only ideas I have for them are really long. Other ones I've considered writing include Forever, Red Dwarf, Sportarobbie from Lazytown, Johnny/Reg from SAS Rogue Heroes and Jude/Cardan from The Cruel Prince.

20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? I'm really liking the Galavant fic I'm writing at the moment, mainly because it's shamelessly self-indulgent. Probably one of my Mafia fics, Chosen by the Life, Choking on my Love or Bring Me Home. It's been a while since I've read my own stuff, this has been a real trip down memory lane.

Desperately trying to remember people who write so I can tag them... I'm so bad at names, if I miss you I'm sorry. And I may not know you at all well so I apologise if you find this weird.
