It's so great that you're getting more confident in your own writing!! Can I request “I kept every letter
” (72) with Yuri please? Maybe it had something to do with a reunion after the timeskip? Ooh, maybe include a letter or two (but only if you want)! Also if you haven't done the DLC then maybe Sylvain? Ily 💖💖💖đŸ„șđŸ„șđŸ„ș
I kinda hate how this ended up but at the same time I’m aware of the fact that I’m currently in a a mindset where I don’t like anything I do soooo yeah. But it was fun to write! So thats a plus! I just didn’t bother proof reading ngl...
Also omg am I ever bad at naming fics ugh don’t look at it
Disclaimer: The way I wrote the reader character implies a lot that they are experiencing depression due to the losing time, general melancholy, and so on. Please don’t push yourself to read this if that could be triggering to you! Its not worth it!

The Letters You Sent || Yuri Leclerc
Days seemed to turn to night every time you blinked, and months seem to pass with every breath.
It all seemed to blur together, those five years of many battles and little hope, except for the only thing that seemed to keep you tethered to reality.
Every so often, about 2-3 weeks apart, you would receive a letter from one of your old classmates.
The first had more than caught you by surprise. A traveling merchant had said something strange to you, strange yet oh so familiar... you quickly returned to him and his wares once you had pinpointed where you had first heard such a phrase, but the man only laughed and insisted you take a beautiful porcelain jar.
Later that night you had opened it up, finding a curious little letter inside.
You only knew of one person who would have the influence to get a merchant on board with such a clever plan, especially considering how heavily monitored mail and trade had been by the empire.
Thus your discreet correspondence with Yuri Leclerc had begun.
The two of you tended to talk about everything but the war. It was almost as if you were exchanging amorous notes back and forth like school children. Almost as if there was no war to speak of.
And truthfully, it’s all you had to hold on to the world around you.
Until the letters stopped
—
You swayed and stumbled through the next four and a half months, barely remembering any of it.
At one point, you were visited by another old classmate, Ashe, who helped pull you away from your melancholic routine. He had come to visit between battles, insisting that the two of you go back to the monastery for the promised reunion. You shrugged in indifference, to which Ashe pouted.
You gave in with little protest, as you didn’t have enough strength to fight against Ashe’s decisions. This only worried the freckled boy more and more as he saw just how hard the war had hit you. You were almost lifeless... nothing like what he remembered from your academy days.
You stopped to put up a makeshift camp when night fell, and thats when Ashe pulled an actual response from you. Finally, something more than a shrug!
“What happened, [Y/N]? Clearly, something happened.” Ashe asked softly, face downcast as he anticipated a reply
“I’ve never been much of a solitary person, being alone for so long has really gotten to me.” You admitted, though skipping the details about losing time as you thought it’d only worry the boy further
“I... I’m sorry. We all went our separate ways... but I...”
You knew now that Ashe was consumed with guilt by this. He looked to you not with pity in his eyes, but guilt and concern.
“Well I.. I was exchanging letters with Yuri for a time. Through an old merchant.”
“Oh?” He looked up, “Well, lead it to Yuri to find a clever loop hole. We barely have been able to send letters between the kingdom territories not controlled by the empire.”
“It’s that bad, huh? I suppose I really took the letters for granted.” You sigh
“When was the last time he wrote?”
“The last one I received was...” you paused to think. How many days had past? “Four... four and a half I think?”
“Weeks? Well—“
“Months”
“Oh, I see.” He nodded, “though that doesn’t mean—“
“Whatever it does mean, isn’t anything in my favor. He’s dead... He’s captured... He just doesn’t want to talk to me anymore... the options aren’t good.”
Ashe fell silent, unable to muster a counter argument that made any sense. Looking away, you sigh.
“You won’t be alone anymore, though.” Ashe spoke up
“What?” You turn back, eyes wide with curiosity
“You won’t be alone. I’ve heard that both Sylvain and Felix intend on making it to the reunion, and so I can only imagine who else will be there. You’ll be surrounded by people who care about you.”
“I—“ you pause, sighing “you sound like you’re trying to convince me to go, despite us being halfway there.”
Ashe chuckled “ah, you’re right.”
“Lets just get some rest.”
—
The next day also seemed to blur by, but that was more in the sense that Ashe’s horse was going so damn fast. And then, of course, there were the thieves.
You were the most excited you had been since you read the neat and loopy words scrawled across the parchment neatly placed in that porcelain pot. It really made you fight with more vigor than you had felt since you left.
In the aftermath, you a familiar mint haired silhouette.
“The professor is alive?” You gasped, pushing past your other classmates “oh professor! I’m so glad you’re alive!”
“I’m glad to find that all of you are alive as well,” they answered back “I’m sorry for being away for so long.”
Everyone’s spirits seemed high, including your own. You even seemed to forget about the letters sent by a certain someone! At this point, everyone started to crowd the previously dead professor to question them, and so you shirked away to the back of the crowd.
“Well now, you were quite concerned for the professor, but not me? Thats harsh.” A familiar sing-songy voice teased
You were paralyzed in your spot, unknowing what to do as your thoughts raced a mile a minute. So he was alive? You were overjoyed!
Except that meant... the letters...
You turned on your heal to face the man. He was still taller than you despite how you had grown, his hair had grown out somewhat, and by the goddess he was still stunning!
“Yuri?” You had to mumble, almost as if you were sure he was only your imagination
“Who else? You seriously didn’t forget such a pretty face, did you?”
Disbelief turned to anger the longer you looked at his teasing smile. Why had he stopped sending letters? And then why is he picking on you now? It didn’t make sense.
“Why are you saying such things when you were the one who cut contact with me! Did none of it matter to you.”
Yuri didn’t seem surprised by your words, though clearly they still rubbed him the wrong way.
To avoid causing a fuss, Yuri pulled you aside.
“They did. Do, I mean. I kept every letter.” He huffs
You felt a flutter in your heart from his response, but you still pressed him for answers, “Then what was with the last few months?”
“The last— right.” An exasperated sigh left the man’s lips as he held his head in his hands “the merchant demanded more and more money each time— I had to think about Abyss first.”
“Oh.”
“I wish I said something in my last letter, I do, but I didn’t think it would be the last.”
“I... I’m sorry for thinking the worst.” You admit, the anger now long gone “I just... thought you were... y’know?”
Yuri’s hands lifted to your shoulders and gave them a reassuring squeeze. You melted at his touch.
“You think I’d die that easily?” He laughed “while I was waiting this whole time for you to come back?”

True to her word, Leah returned to Nik’s apartment a few hours later with more sleep under her belt than in the past three months. She smiled shyly as she walked into his apartment and noticed that he shaved his beard to his old neat stubble, and her stomach did a funny flip as he led her to his car. The two made disjointed small talk coupled with long bouts of silence; it was as if the events of the previous night hadn’t happened now that it was daylight and the two were more awake, more sober. And neither wanted to admit that they were surprised by the turn of events.
Leah still tried to wrap her head around the fact that not only did Nik not hate her after she suddenly left, but he was also willing to go with her to Lamrian on her wild goose chase to find herself. And Nik was still wary it was all a dream or a trick and that she wasn’t actually there with him, that he truly had lost her like he lost everyone else in his life. Both stole sneaky glances at the other as they drove Nik’s car and walked through the woods and eventually towards the vast, open fields to the cathedral guarding Lamrian quietly, still keeping a careful distance from each other.
“Soooo
” Leah began, keeping her eyes trained forward. “Anything weird happen at the Graveyard Shift while I was gone?”
“I mean...it’s always weird in this city,” Nik replied, his eyes also trained forward. “But Garrus and Krom are still going strong. Never seen either of ‘em that happy; it’s kinda cute but kinda gross.”
“Aww, that’s so great! They deserve each other!” Leah remembered that night she and Ivy convinced Krom to make a move since it was so painfully obvious they liked each other. “Is Ivy still making you hunt ghosts for her services?”
“Strangely enough, she hasn’t been accepting any requests lately,” Nik chuckled, shaking his head as he recalled the time Leah tagged along to hunt a ghost for Ivy. “I think she’s been busy with some research. Something about her New York vampire Internet friend’s friend dying and then turning into a vampire while being a Bloodkeeper, whatever that means. And I think trying out some human video games with that same friend.”
“Okay now that’s wild, complete bonkers. I hope that person’s okay; dying wasn’t exactly a walk in the park
” Leah shivered, all of a sudden feeling cold even in the late spring weather of Louisiana. She tried to block out the memories that plagued her for a good two months after she left New Orleans.
“I know I probably shouldn’t ask, but how did you cope after everything?” Nik asked, glancing at her to make sure she was okay. “I can’t even imagine what that was like for you. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.”
“How did I cope? Well...I didn’t.” Leah laughed mirthlessly, a smile not quite reaching her eyes. “I think I already told you the majority of it: stuck with my boring office job, avoided my mom, tried to pass the time with hobbies but failed so I got drunk a lot and did a bunch of people and other bad stuff. But probably the worst thing I did was cut my own bangs at 4am.”
“...Seriously?”
“Yeah I was having a crisis.”
“Because you saw your best friend get attacked, were hunted down relentlessly by a genocidal monster, found out your dad’s a Fae lord, saw your dad die, and then you died?” Leah blinked as he listed it all out in one breath; had she really been talking about it that much?
“Well...okay yeah pretty much. But also because I turned 25.”
Nik paused, confused. “What does that have to do with anything? Is that seriously a crisis?”
“A mid- okay fine not really, quarter-life crisis.” Leah let out a small laugh as she hazily remembered her conversation with Kristin, shaking her head and putting her hands in her pockets. “You’ll understand when you’re older.”
“I’m only a year younger than you, rook.”
“Then we’ll have a talk a year from now.”
Nik let a grin spread across his features. “That mean you’ll still be here a year from now?”
Leah shifted her eyes for a moment, and when she spoke again her voice was the perfect mix of playful and sincere. “Maybe.”
The two paused as they reached their destination. The castle guarding Lamrian loomed over them, its broken windows staring down at Leah like judgment. Leah felt very small. She felt as if she was a specimen on a petri dish placed under a microscope, and the Fae just behind those magical doors were scrutinizing her every being.
Leah froze in fear, and she could feel the panic rising in her tight, tight chest. Nik noticed her expression and instinctively took one of her hands in his, giving it a small squeeze. “Hey, it’s okay. You’re okay. And I’m with you every step of the way.”
But she couldn’t. She couldn’t get a hold of her emotions, no matter how hard she tried or what she told herself she needed to do. Tears sprung on the corners of her eyes and ran down her face freely, and big, gasping sobs escaped from her mouth. She wrenched her hand from his, turned her back to the castle, and started walking away. Leah was hunched over and her hands grasped each other as she walked with Nik following her.
“Shit, shit, shit!” Leah could only see red, and that red was directed at herself. “I really dragged you out here for nothing! Why can’t I fucking face them?!”
Nik stopped her by placing his hands on her shoulders and turning her around so they were face-to-face. “Rook...breathe.”
She shook her head, trying to will the tears away but failing and launching into an anxiety-fueled. “Ugh, this is pathetic and embarrassing. I never should’ve stepped foot in Lamrian and I keep dragging you into my problems. I drag everyone into my problems! Kristin’s probably still paying for an entire week of hospital bills, Vera had to face her mom, Cal had to go against his pack, you and Katherine risked your lives by hunting Thomas down...fuck! When this was all happening, I should’ve just ignored you and stood in an open field and let the Bloodwraith—”
She was cut off by him pulling her into his strong arms, squeezing her so tightly she had no choice but to stop talking. “Don’t. I mean it, rook. Goddammit.”
“Why do you keep helping me?” she sobbed into his shoulder. “All I do is drag you down.”
He rubbed her back tenderly. “Because I want to. I care so damn much about you, rook, you have no idea.”
Before Leah could respond, the sound of someone clearing their throat came from behind them. Nik instantly positioned his body in front of hers, his crossbow aimed at the voice before Leah could even blink. He put it down once they realized that it was the same Fae guarding Lamrian. His lips were set in a straight line and his eyes devoid of any emotion, a soldier on duty.
“Daughter of Lamrian,” he kneeled reverently as he spoke. “You have returned. Welcome. Let me lead the way.”
“Thank you. But unfortunately, I can’t come inside. It’s not the right time.” Leah steadied her breath. She appreciated the fact that he ignored her crimson red eyes and shaky voice. “But will you please relay a message for Lady Thalissa for me?”
“Anything you wish is my command.”
“Please tell her that Lord Elric loves her and will be waiting for her. And that I’m sorry for everything that happened and will one day return. Just...not today.”
He nodded and straightened up, preparing to relay the message. Leah stopped him. “And also...this is for the people of Lamrian: I’m sorry. I’m just sorry that they lost a leader and an heir because of me.”
The Fae guard nodded again, his lips in a thinner, harsher line; Leah could have sworn that his eyes displayed hints of anger and grief before they fell into the trained dutiful expression. She let him walk away, and when he was finally out of sight in the castle she let out a breath she didn’t even realize she was holding.
“You did the right thing, rook.”
“Then why do I still feel so shitty?”
The two began to walk back to Nik’s car and eventually reached the woods. “It’d be weird if you didn’t feel like shit. It’s a lot, and sometimes you feel like you’re never gonna get out of that tunnel. But you will. And I’m here.”
“Nik, I--” But Leah was cut off by Nik suddenly shouting and tackling her to the ground as a knife embedded itself to the tree right behind where their heads were seconds before.
“Son of a bitch
” Nik muttered, quickly dragging them both back to their feet. “Can’t catch a break for one day!”
“What the fuck was that?!” Leah ran with him through the woods, her hand attached to his.
“He’s back. Remember that shapeshifter I pissed off? He must’ve followed us.”
“That I did, Ryder,” a snide, mocking voice replied from behind a tree. A man dressed in all black stepped out of the shadows. “A little birdie over your shoulder as you paid attention to your little girlfriend here.”
“For fuck’s sake, Mark, it was nothing personal. Grave robbing is a sick, sick thing to do!” Nik got into a fighting stance with his crossbow on his shoulder and Leah directly behind him.
“You just can’t appreciate the intricacies of a human bone broth soup!”
Leah grimaced in disgust and poked her head out to the side of Nik’s body. “Ugh, that’s what you were using it for? That’s messed up.”
Mark’s eyes flashed with rage, putting his hands in his pockets. “Just shut up, and you’re dying with him!”
“To hell with you!” Nik shot several arrows at him, and Mark rolled out of the way and back into the shadows. “Leah, stay out of the way!”
“I’m not letting you do this alone!” Leah stubbornly replied, running after him hunting down the shapeshifter. She channeled all of her energy into her palms, but to no avail. “Seriously, let me help!”
“You can help by keeping yourself safe!”
“He’s right; this ain’t a place for ya, missy.” Mark threw another knife from the shadows, and Nik deftly avoided it and more arrows. But Mark turned into a crow and flew above their heads to avoid the attack.
He landed on a tree and turned into a jaguar, and promptly lunged at the both of them from above. Leah managed to get out of the way but Nik punted him in the abdomen with a powerful kick. Mark landed a few feet away, groaning in pain and back in his human form. But within seconds he pulled a pistol out and started shooting at them. Nik and Leah ran in a zig-zag formation with the murderous shapeshifter hot on their heels.
“Arghhh!” With Leah a few feet ahead, Nik suddenly went down, clutching the side of his right thigh. He pulled his hand away for a moment to assess the damage, and Leah could see a linear laceration on his skin from where the bullet grazed his leg.
Leah watched in horror as the shapeshifter suddenly appeared above Nik, a heavy boot on his hand nearest to his crossbow and the gun aimed at his head. Mark grinned maliciously. “Nighty night, Nighthunter.”
“NOOO!” Leah shouted, sprinting towards the barrel of the gun and blindly pushing her hands out in front of her. All of a sudden two identical blasts of light bounded from the palms of her hands, both hitting Mark square in the face. The skin and nerves on her hands were burning, but she didn’t notice or care, adrenaline pumping through her vasculature. She could feel a power, a deep and great power bursting forth from her core. With a shriek, she sent more blasts towards Mark, the power boundless and suddenly at her disposal to do what she wanted. And all she could focus on was destroying Mark.
“Leah! Leah!” A seemingly far away voice called her name, but it didn’t register until she felt two arms wrap around her from behind. “Come back to me! Rook!”
Leah stopped blasting at her target, and a white haze that she didn’t even realize was present suddenly dissipated from her vision. She finally realized where she was, and that she was responsible for the pile of ashes on the ground where the shapeshifter once stood. Leah fell to her knees and Nik went down with her, refusing to let go.
“I...I did that,” Leah whispered, looking down at her trembling hands. “My powers...they’re back!”
“You saved my life, rook.” Nik held her with one arm as he pressed down on the wound on his leg. “That was...that was the most power I’ve ever seen from someone.”
Maybe it was the fact that their faces were suddenly so close to each other, or maybe it was the fact that they avoided certain death again. Maybe it was the silence gathering around them, warm and electric. Maybe it was the tenderness in his expression as he held her. Leah brought one hand up to his cheek and pressed their lips together softly, and they both sighed in relief as they kissed. A warm, gentle rain misted around the pair. Leah pulled away, and both sported giddy, shy smiles.
“Not how I expected today to go...but this is perfect...well, perfect for us.” Leah hauled him up and to his feet and tied her light jacket around his thigh as a makeshift tourniquet. “Best way I could help was staying out of the way, huh?”
Nik shook his head in disbelief as they walked. “You are the most bullheaded and impossible woman I’ve ever met. I would be dead now if it weren’t for you.”
“Nik
” Leah began seriously. She knew what she finally had to do. “What happened today...I want to be with you. As your partner, both personally and professionally.”
His eyes met hers, and he searched for any signs of hesitation only to find none. His face was completely relaxed for the first time since she met him, and it sent her heart fluttering. “Are you sure about this?”
“You’re a mess...and I’m a mess.” She shook her head, chuckling incredulously. “But that just might be why we’re perfect for each other. I’m in love with you, and I think I’ve always known it. Being your partner is what I want, if you’ll have me.”
“Goddammit, Leah
” He laughed with her before he spoke again, his voice vulnerable and sincere. “I love you too. I want you with me every second, from the moment I wake up to when I rest my head. I want you with me in the trenches, and then I want you with nothin’ at all between us.”
Every word lifted a heavy weight off her heart, and Leah beamed as she took Nik’s hand. “That’s all I want, too...partner.”
The now-official couple reached Nik’s car, but instead of getting in, Nik opened his trunk. Leah quirked an eyebrow. “Getting something?”
“You could say that,” Nik replied, stepping out from behind the car with his hands behind his back. “I’ve had this in here since the day you got out of the hospital, and I couldn’t bear to even look at it. Now that you’re back, though
”
“Are you...nervous?” Leah couldn’t help the teasing, amused tone in her question as she noticed his blush. She had to admit it was odd yet slightly satisfying seeing him squirm.
“...You left this.”
Nik held out her cherry red leather jacket, the same one he gave her on her first night in New Orleans. Leah ran her hands down the soft, worn leather, smiling softly. “You really kept this all this time?”
“Well...yeah.” Nik rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “Maybe I hoped that you’d come back one day.”
“Well you were right, Mr. Nighthunter.” Leah put the jacket on, relishing in the familiarity of the cool leather and smell of the bayou. “How do I look?”
Nik smiled brightly. “Like it was made for you, Ms. Nighthunter.”
She sidled up to the driver’s side of the car mischievously. “Awesome, now get in.”
“Wait, what? Who said you were driving?”
“You got shot in the leg! I need to take you to the hospital!”
The pair continued to bicker the entire ride to the emergency room, and amidst the chaos Leah grinned; she wouldn’t have it any other way. Everything was different, but maybe it would be okay after all.
==============================================
A/N: Andddd after almost 4 months (!!!)...I’m back on this series with a real chapter. Thank you so much to whoever has stuck with reading every chapter; this is my first time actually writing a multi-chapter fic. There’s one chapter left before I move on to my next Nightbound series, which is pretty much a sequel to this story and the canon story. I hope you enjoyed this, and I welcome any and all comments!

Day 8  |  Decorating the Tree / “DO YOU WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAAAN!~”
Summary: You invited Eri and Aizawa over one evening to help you decorate your Christmas tree. This was Eri’s first year being around kindness and love for Christmas, and you wanted her to be able to take part in traditions that always made you happy as a child. When you finished with the tree, you surprised them with stockings, and before they left, gave them the big reveal of turning on the Christmas tree for the first time.
Note: GET READY FOR SOME ADORABLE FLUFF. This was soooo much fun to write. It got a little long, but I swear it’s worth it if you like Dadzawa, romance, and wholesomeness.
Reminder: I will be writing the prompts to occur chronologically! They are all going to be Aizawa x the same f!Reader established in Day 1’s prompt.
@mha-xmas-challenge
It was just days before Christmas, and that meant crime was on a steady rise. It wasn’t anything big like trying to bring down a whole organization or community, but it was still criminal activity nonetheless. While the holidays often spread cheer and joy, gift giving sometimes became a daunting task, and some people were more likely to act out of desperation over rationality. This led to you being busier than you expected, so your fake Christmas tree was still in its box in the living room with two full bins of ornaments next to it and one box of personal and special ones. So what if you were in Japan? You still wanted to enjoy Christmas, even if it was celebrated differently here. That didn’t mean you had to celebrate it differently.
Another day off finally rolled around and you asked Aizawa if he and Eri could come over after dinner for the evening. You were planning to put up the Christmas tree and have sweets and hot cocoa together, thinking this would be a nice opportunity for Eri to enjoy some Christmas traditions. You weren’t gonna do Santa by any means, but you could still spoil her and make her feel special and happy, couldn’t you? It stuck with you when he had mentioned that the young girl had an exceptionally difficult and traumatic past. You respected that and didn’t press him on the topic, but you definitely took it upon yourself to help in any way you could.
When they arrived, you were fluffing the spines and branches of the false evergreen, trying to make the tree look more convincing since this was its first Christmas too. You remotely opened the gates for them, and Aizawa let them in without knocking. They came in to the sight of you standing on a chair as you finished sprucing up the tree, wearing a holiday sweater dress that was made in the “ugly sweater style” but was actually kind of cute (especially since it was cat themed), leggings that tucked into fuzzy Christmas socks with cats in Santa hats patterned on it, and a traditional Santa hat with the ball of fluff off to the side. You heard the door and looked up from the tree, smiling to them and waving, delighted that they were able to come. Eri looked absolutely precious, sporting a beret that had cat ears on it, a cute red dress over a white long sleeved shirt, and two braids that came together in the back which pulled her hair out of her face. Did Aizawa do that? You wouldn’t be surprised. Seeing him, you subtly smiled even more. He was wearing that black and gray cat print sweater he lent you earlier in the month as you were catching a cold.
With an excited hop, you bounced off the chair and went over to them, bubbling with joy. “Thank you so much for coming over!” You pecked Aizawa’s cheek and then bent down, picking Eri up and twirling as you gave her a hug. Even though you were steadily becoming more of a part in their lives, the affection you didn’t hesitate to show was still new to them. They didn’t dislike it, but it was going to take them a little while to get used to it.
“Eri, have you ever decorated a Christmas tree before?” you asked in a joyful and excited tone. You knew the answer, but there was sweetness in indulging the caricature of a fun-loving, oblivious adult.  After all, you were already half of that. The little girl shook her head no and you gasped in shock. Your animated and innocent acting actually made Aizawa grin as he watched you two interact.
“What, never?!”
She shook her head again, beginning to hide behind her guardian’s leg. You smiled, giggling a little at how adorable she was.
“Well, as luck would have it, I have a perfectly un-decorated tree right here and need your help!” You gestured to the tree behind you. “What do you think? Do you wanna help me make it pretty?”
Eri looked at you and then at the tree, the open boxes and bins of ornaments you had begun to take out, and then up to Aizawa. He met her eyes and gave her a small, encouraging nod. She looked back to you and nodded, shy but very much interested. A bright smile drew across your lips and you offered her your hand, leaning over with the other hand on your knee so you were at her eye level.
“Come on, I’ll show you how to start.”
She took your hand and you both walked over to the boxes scattered around the tree, Aizawa following just behind. Your tree already had small plastic lights built into it, so it was on to the tinsel. Yards of silver and gold were pulled out of one bin and you held up the two garlands.
“Okay, so we start by wrapping these around the tree. Which one do you want to do? Shouta, wouldja come help her?~” You smiled at him while Eri made her decision.
“The silver! It reminds me of Aizawa-san’s scarf!” You giggled at her reasoning and nodded, handing over the line of silver to her.
“It does, doesn’t it? I bet it would look cute on him,” you teased, making the hero give you a glare that elicited a giggle from you. Before Eri could even think about asking him to wear it, he took one end of the glorified streamer and tucked it high up in the tree near the top.
“There you go, Eri.” Once the tail end was secure, he guided her to start wrapping the tinsel around the tree. The little girl walked around the base of the tree while he helped her set the tinsel in place, and you started to do the same with the gold, walking in the opposite direction as them. You wore a bright smile, happiness radiating from you and beginning to infect the other two.
You stepped back from the tree, placing your hands on your hips and looking at it with a pleased smile. “It looks so lovely! You guys did amazing!” Your praise and affirmation was more for Eri than Aizawa, using the voice and tone you’d use to encourage and dote on children. “Next is the really fun part. Are you ready?”
“Uh-huh!” Eri nodded and you could tell that you were roping her into the holiday spirit, which was equally drawing in her aloof father figure. You ushered her towards the boxes with ornaments in them, and pulled more out of the bins until you had way too many boxes of ornaments displayed on your floor. Would they all fit on your tree? Absolutely. Should they? Definitely not.
“I think this is the most fun and important part of decorating a tree,” you said, kneeling behind Eri as she faced all the ornaments and hugging her from behind, “because this part makes our tree different from all the other trees in the whole world. And this year, it’ll be even more special because you and Aizawa-san are going to help me put the ornaments on. So go ahead and pick your favorite boxes of ornaments and we’ll open them and put them up together. Sound good?”
Eri nodded, looking over all of ornaments she had to choose from. You had colorful ones, patterned ones, novelty ones, and all in different shapes and sizes. She stepped towards the boxes and out of your arms, taking her time in picking out the ones she liked. It was clear that she had a type of ornament that she liked most, starting with the round ones that probably reminded her of apples, and then ones with different shapes like stars and bells. While she was sorting through boxes and putting the ones she liked in a neat pile, you stood next to Aizawa with one arm slung across his lower back, hand on his hip just above his pocket, and held him against you . His arm and hand mirrored yours, but he actually placed his hand on the curve of your figure, pulling you into him and holding you close.
“It’s nice to see her so happy.” He spoke softly to you, looking from Eri to your face and gently kissing your forehead as you looked up at him. “When she’s like this, you would never guess what she’s been through.”
Aizawa’s words brought a softer smile to your face- one that wasn’t from the holiday stupor. You were absolutely smitten with him, especially when he was vulnerable like this. The way his face was composed of sharp edges that carried a hidden softness to them when he was relaxed made you swoon. His black eyes that flashed and glowed red when he used his quirk always drew you in. Where others saw coldness, you saw comfort. And despite how much you adored his messy hair, you loved it more when he tied it back, stray strands framing his temple and cheeks in ways that made you want to kiss them. To be fair, you always wanted to kiss him- his lips, his nose, his scar. Keeping your lips off of him was a constant act of discipline.
In your distracted, swooning state, you didn’t notice Eri pick out the oldest box from the collection of ornaments. When she came over with it, you pulled away from each other and he crouched down, his hand coming to the box.
“What’s this?” Aizawa asked her with a soft and sweet voice. He didn’t even use that voice with you. It was reserved for Eri and only Eri, and you knew it was because he felt the need to take care of her like a father would. “It doesn’t look like the other boxes of ornaments.”
“It has different ones in it! Look!” She set the box down and opened it, revealing a hodgepodge of ornaments. Inside was your entire collection of very personal and dear ornaments- ones with pictures of your family and friends, others that were made as a gift, or that you made with someone in the past. Some were dated from when you were a child, and others from just last year. “Can we start with these ones?” she asked, looking up at you with hopeful eyes that melted you.
You smiled and nodded, touched by the sentiment whether or not the little girl knew the importance of picking this box. “Of course.”
The three of you began picking ornaments at random out of the box, hanging them all over and decorating the tree. Eri asked you about each one that she picked out, wanting to know who was in the pictures or who made it, and most of all, why it was important to you. At one point, she tugged on Aizawa’s pant leg and asked him to put an ornament up high for her. Instead, he picked her up and placed her on his shoulders, letting her put the ornaments up herself. You picked up the box and held it up for Eri to pick out out of while she was already up on his shoulders, the three of you working your way around the Christmas tree and through the decorations.
Finally reaching the end of the box, Eri pulled out the last one- a round plastic ornament that had a cotton snowman glued inside of it, and small foam pellets that imitated snow. “Do you want to build a snowman?” she read, following the silver lettering that wrapped around the ornament. And then, “Do you wanna build a snowmaaaan,” singing the catchy line under her breath. She’d seen that movie a couple of times this month, and the tune stuck.
“Hm?” You looked to her as you were putting the box off to the side so it was out of your way. “Oh! That one!” When you returned to their side, you looked up at Eri, watching her delicately shake the homemade snowglobe. Her joy in watching the white pellets bounce around and collect at the base of the snowman brought a smile to your lips as well as Aizawa’s.
“That one was from the first friend I made when I was little. We were neighbors and played together a lot. One of our favorite things to do was to make snowmen in the winter.” The way you spoke was gentle, as if your words were cradling the memory and you didn’t want to risk disturbing it. You smiled sweetly, but he noticed the subtle but far off way you looked at the ornament. Of course he did. He noticed everything.
“You know what? I think you should keep that one,” you said, snapping out of that brief reverie with a smile. Aizawa looked to you, a hint of concern in his eyes. He could tell that this one in particular was important to you. You smiled at him reassuringly and then looked up to Eri. “It can remind you of how we built a snowman together, even though I accidentally killed your first one,” you giggled. “I think that’s a nice and happy memory to put with it. Don’t you?”
She stopped shaking the ornament, looking at you with her bright red eyes, smile still on her lips. The way she held it had the plastic ball resting on Aizawa’s head, and he didn’t mind at all. “Are you sure that’s okay? Like, really really okay?”
The fact that you were able to inspire Eri’s childishness was something that moved Aizawa. She was a brilliant young girl who had to grow up much too fast, so it was rare to see her with a carefree smile or to hear her say something that just sounded so cute and placed her at the right age. Hearing her ask you if you were “really really okay” with it just made him smile in a way that only a child could move a parent to. And you got to see it. How did you get so lucky?
“Really, really,” you affirmed with a nod. “Here, I’ll put it with your bag.” Eri handed the ornament to you and you placed it inside her messenger bag.
“While you’re up there, do you want to put the topper on the tree? It’s like a crown for it,” you giggled. “Normally it goes on last, but since you’re on Aizawa-san’s shoulders
Now seems like a good time to put it on.”
You retrieved the topper for your tree and handed it up to Eri, who put it on with a big smile. Aizawa helped plug it into the hidden outlet in the tree so that it would turn on for the big reveal you were going to do before they left. The three of you finished putting the ornaments on the tree, decorating it with laughter and joy, not a single ornament broken or out of place by the end of it. They helped you put away the unused ones, and then you all sat at the irori for hot cocoa and cookies. There, you gave them both their stockings- introducing them to another new Christmas tradition. For Eri, you filled it with sweets and cute cat things like an adorable pair of cat hair pins, fuzzy cat socks, and a couple of Neko Atsume blind bags. Aizawa received similar treatment, except he got food pouches to accompany the cat stationary you got him, including a set of simple black pens with caps that had cat ears and a face drawn on them. You also threw in a cat tie clip and cuff links because it absolutely slayed you when he wore a suit and tie.
As the night grew later and wound down, you lured the two back to the living room. All the lights were turned off, and you stood by the switch. Eri and Aizawa counted down from 3 together, and then you flipped it, lighting up the room with the tree’s dreamy luminescence.
You could hear the awe from Eri. She gasped, taking in a breath that lifted her body as much as her spirit. She had never seen something like this before, much less been a part of putting it together. Beaming from seeing her reaction, your eyes lifted from the little girl to the man whose hand she held. He stared at the tree with that expression that was almost impossible to read. You’d stared at his face long enough to catch the way his lips just barely pulled back at the edges in a covert smile, and spied one on his lips just now. Eri let go of his hands and came to your legs, hugging them and thanking you. With a soft chuckle, you kneeled down and hugged her to you before giving her a kiss on the top of her head against her white hair.
Aizawa walked over to you and offered his hand to help you up from your knees. You took it and gasped as he pulled you into a close hug, lifting you up as he leaned back and kissed you. It was driven with passion, but restrained since now wasn’t the time. He placed you back down, Eri taking his hand again.
“Thank you, (Y/N).” His voice was almost painfully gentle. He had never spoken to you with this tone before, and it wasn’t like the ones he used for Eri, either. You smiled brightly and happily, giving a small nod.
“Thank you both, Eri, Shouta. You made tonight magical.”
He took your hand, rubbing over your knuckles with his thumb. It wasn’t like the pro hero to stall like this, but you didn’t mind. Bringing your hand up to his lips, he gently kissed the ridge of your fingers, making you blush. “That was a first for me, too,” he added with a soft voice that threatened to bring tears to your eyes. How was he so sweet, when he always projected such a cold and detached demeanor around others? He made your heart weak, and you didn’t know what to say. So you kept smiling, your eyes and face expressing what you couldn’t find the words to.
With a last smile, Aizawa let go of your hand and  turned with Eri, leaving with their stockings in a gift bag. You watched them disappear down the bend of the walkway, heart beating hard and fast while you took slow, shallow breaths.
You were falling in love.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Awhile back on the old forums, probably around the time I made this so assuming 2015 (super old LOL) someone made a thread asking to post pictures of your character before and how they looked now. I really loved seeing the changes that some characters went through and while others never changed at all. I made this timeline to post there and on my tumblr but I chickened out. Well LOL after talking with a friend about how his character look before and now, I decided to post it RIP. :D ALSO MILK SHOWED ME THEIR CHARACTER WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED AND SOOOO CUTE <33333 Anyway LOL I’ll try to explain the timeline. I came back around 2012 with a new character and I thought this bob hairstyle (I apologize for the small pictures, I used to save the snapshots alot because I thought they were neat and clean, haven’t lately LOL) was really cute and chose it. I wore pink back then too :D haha and I always wanted this woodworker pirate outfit so I was happy I found one for cheap (prob back when they were being synth or in gach). I got this sheep robe and for awhile, I wore it with the Large Ribbon (another item I wanted before I quit that crashed in price when I came back). When I rebirthed, I chose a younger age and changed to a longer hairstyle and wore the Summer Prem 08 (which I later sold since I stopped wearing it later in years). Fast forward couple months, I got this Eirawen Wig and the Eluned Alchemist Set as a gift. One of my first idle outfits ever :D Then the Warp Imp was released and I wore the hat he came with along with the Grace Shawl I brought. Puppet patch came (I think) and I started wearing the Pierrot. Then the Vocaloid Event where I finally changed my hair style to the one I wear now and changed my eye color. It was weird being blond for awhile haha. Then I decided to change my hair color to Gray Cherry which is close to pink for humans. And I wore purple again for awhile on my Rhetoi before I sold it because I didn’t really like it (and then ended up changing mind later RIP).Almost forgot, I got my first wings White Cupids <3 I don’t wear them much anymore but they’re still very dear to me and hoping to gach out the two-tone ones. :D Anyway so I hated the stockings on the Pierrot and always wore long boots to cover them (they always came out a weird striped color for me) and then Eirawen was re-released with urns and Millia set, I was gifted both and very fond of it (Till I sold the Millia Wig later with permission because I didn’t really like it anymore RIP). Portia was re-released and the idle it has is adorable. I actually meant to get white(?) forget on the outside but dye failed and gave me dark pink so I left it LOL.
Oh gods LOL turning out longer than I had expected and still not done RIP. WELL BREATHER FOR A SEC LOL.
Okay then I got the normal Scathach Outfit and vintage volume beret (wore these both for the longest time, still one of my favorites. I HAVE THEM BOTH STILL LOL). Then the hero talents were released and I got the Magus Outfit (also still have LOL). Next is the Idol Plaid (also have, different colors now) and then fast forward I think a year or two and its the Figure Skating Outfit which wanted for a long time and dyed flashy with a subtle pink to white well dye. I wore this Badoura Outfit I had for long time with the Macha Wig I got. Then fast forward when I actually started changing my outfits to wear brown along with my wigs.
My apologies for the uh recent timeline LOL I just used pictures I already on my blog and pieced them all together in paint as neatly as I could. They all go by month except when it came to Feb, I put 3 because I started running out of months LOL. The Starlet Rose Blossom Wig a friend let me borrow and I took a picture with it, I don’t actually own one (I don’t like it enough to buy even though its fallen in price now RIP). In my picture with the Traditional Wedding Dress for Giants, I changed my eyes to a darker green and really liked how it looked with the gem on the dress. I’ve become very fond of the dark brown from the Neat Half Ponytail Wig & Glasses and tried to get it on other wigs, some got close and others uhh LOL not so close but still love them. Sometime when I got the Elite Student Uniform (F), I changed my eye color darker to match the wigs I wore (seems little weird when I’m not wearing wigs LOL). After that, haven’t really changed any other features. I was hoping the new hair dye would have a dark brown (the browns in pon shop are too light or reddish brown) but looks like only light ones again. There is a pink so I might be testing that out when I get the box :D I’ll show if I do!
Uhhh tdlr: Here’s how my character changed over the years, hope you enjoy looking through as I did seeing how much my character has changed in both appearance and fashion. <3

Please don’t talk to me...
Tumblr media
It was a long summer break for me. It feels like 3 months went by slowly and today is the first day after that long break. I’m feeling excited to meet my friends and nervous

Not one day passed by without me thinking about that one night

 -Flashback-
“Yui, your ponytail is cute tonight.”
“Aww thanks Mika, your braid is super nice too.” I answered.
It’s the last night of the summer festival and everyone was wearing nice outfit. It feels like we are having an early prom night. Hihi

“Why are you giggling all of sudden?” Mika asked as we stroll along the lake. It was packed with students from our school. And they are so noisy especially the boys.
“Huh? Nothing~ nothing~ I was just thinking about funny stuff.” I answered while looking at some boys throwing water balloons at each other. How messy

“Ohho, is it that you are thinking about someone special? Eh? Eh?” She gave me a little wink.
“Eh nooo. Look at those guys. Do you think I’m desperate enough to fall in love at such age? They are stinky, dirty, noisy and unorganized.” I nod toward a bunch of boys who are now laughing like crazy at the other side of the lake.
“But there’s a few exceptions right? Like Ken, Kimura
or is it Tachibana?” Mika wriggles her eyebrow now. This girl is full of face expressions. Hehe.
“Uh... I don’t care about love and couple stuff. It’s just a bother
” My voice went shaky a bit. I hope she didn’t realize that.
“Oh oh, but I heard a rumor though
” She grins.
“Huh? A rumor?About what?”
“Oh nothing
It’s just that a certain class representative likes his assistant.” She smiled wider.
“
Eh?” I tried to understand what she said.
“Oh come on, there’s a rumor that Tachibana likes you. You didn’t know?” Mika explained.
“Eh?? No way!” I was surprised. I don’t know why but shivers ran through my spine.
“That’s what I heard.  And you know what? It’s time like this that people open up to each other and confess. Maybe you will get a confession tonight. Kyaaa!” She giggles and shoving her face into her hand.
I tried to sound convincing. But that rumor indeed triggered my curiosity.
“PSHH, I’m sure that is just purely a baseless rumor and nothing else. Moreover you know I don’t like boys right? I would reject any confession right away even from Tachibana. Heh” I egoistically answered.
Suddenly she stood froze after  what I said. I didn’t think that it’s anything to be frozen over. Until I saw her eye which was fixed onto something behind me. As I turn around

“Hello
just wanna wish happy holiday and have fun tonight
”
It was Tachibana! What a tragic coincidence! My unlucky night!
“Oh, okay thanks.” I answered.
Did he hear everything I said before? Oh my goodness!
Then he walked away. It was the first time I see his back figure clearly as he is wearing a tight and fit suit. Charmingly suited to his style

“I’m so sorry Yui, I didn’t realize he was standing behind us.” Mika worriedly paces.

“Nah, maybe he didn’t hear it. Or even if he did
it was just a rumor right?”
Right? Please let it be just a rumor!
  -Endfalshback-
That was the last time I ever saw him. I didn’t see him all summer and he didn’t send any text or calls to me. Well why would he do that right?
And it was the first day of the new semester. I wonder what he had been doing all summer.
“Yui, kawaiiiiiii” I heard Mika screams.
“I didn’t know you look this cute with your hair down. If I knew earlier, I would make you let it down a long time ago.” She pats behind my back. Geez, this hyper girl.
“Haha, nice to meet you too Mika. And it’s been like only a week. Why would you be so surprised? Its not like I change much since we last meet.”
“I know I know, but this is the first time I see you in the uniform with that hairsyle. Hihi.” She pushes me into the classroom.
I was searching for him. I don’t know why. But I was curious as to why he didn’t contact me
 As if he need to
but I just feel like he should
Urghhh! My mind is soooo weird.
I couldn’t find him anywhere in the classroom. I wonder if he is coming. What if he transferred to another school? Oh my gosh!
“Let’s settle down here, not too far behind and not too close to the front. Just nice and we can feel the breeze from the window too.” Mika pushed me to a table. Well I don’t really care where I seat honestly.
“Okay, settle down guys! Go to your seats.” Mr Henry finally entered the class. Everyone was rushing for their seats. I guess he really transferred huh?...
But suddenly a boy entered and looks around for a seat too. Weird, I never seen him before

“Tachibana, go to your seat fast. I’m about to start.” Mr Henry ordered the boy.
“Tachibana?” I was surprised.
That is him??? He looks very different from the Tchibana that I knew!... but looking closely
 that is him alright

But what’s with his hair. He always had the sharp and neat hairstyle before. Now it’s a bit long and kinda messy?
His necktie is also loose
whats with this sluggish new style of him???
He sat down beside the window, to the left of my front. He sat down and put his head and arm on the table lazily. Is this really him??
--
The hours passed by. It was already the last period before a break. And I havent heard anything from him. Not a single hi to me or to other classmates. He just stays on his seat while others were playing around. What’s with him really?
“Okay guys. It’s the first day, we are still fixing some schedule. So there will be no class this afternoon.” Mr Henry informs followed by the usual cheers from the boys.
“But we need to choose a class representative for this semester. Any suggestion?” Mr Henry asked.
Everyone went quiet and avoided eye contact with him. How typical of them.
“I nominate Yui!” Mika raised her hand.
“Mikaaaa~” I hissed at her. And she just smiles back like a cat. Aisht this girl. But oh well. Not that it’s something I can’t do since I was the last semester co-class representative with
 him.
“Okay, any other suggestion for the girl’s representative?” Mr Henry asked. Everyone shook their head.
“Haha, of course there aren’t any. Fine, Yui are you okay to be a class rep this semester too?” Mr Henry clicks his pen.
“I don’t mind.” I answered. And he continues to write down something, most probably my name on some paper.
“Okay, how about the rep from the guys?”
“How about we went with Tachibana since it’s Yui who is taking the post again?” A boy went ahead and suggests that. And everyone was like nodding and agrees.
“Sigh, I was hoping some new faces will come up this semester. But oh well. Tachibana, are you ok with this?” Mr Henry asked him.
He just nodded

Why is he so different now? Before he would enthusiastically answers everything asked. What happened to you Tachibana-kun?
--
“Okay, that’s that. Class Representatives; please come to the committee room after an hour for a briefing. That’s all, you guys can go.” Mr Henry walks out of the classroom.
Some packs their stuff and went back
I guess. But most of them stayed to chat with friends. Mika also stayed because she wants to accompany me till the meeting hour. And Tachibana is still on his seat
 sleeping???
--
“Okay Yui, I’m gonna go back now. And your meeting will be in 10 minutes. Don’t be late.” She gave me a wink. She is so cute doing things like that.
“Thanks for staying.” I thanked her.
“Nah, I don’t have anything to do anyway at home. Hihi, Okay, bye~” She walked out.
And now I should be going too

And he is still sleeping there. What’s wrong with him seriously? Was he ever like this?
--
“Tachibana-kun
 wake up
” I forced myself to wake him up. His shoulder felt so warm though

He pulled up his head. He froze a bit before leaning back to the chair.
“We got a meeting in 5 minutes. I’ll be going first okay?” I asked him politely. Well he seems to be too sleepy to notice me anyway.
But he nods lazily. I couldn’t see his eyes properly because of those wavy hairs infront of his face. But he didn’t seem to even be looking at me

--
The meeting is about to start. The other class representatives are already here and Tachibana isn’t showing up still. Where in the world is he? Did he fall asleep again?
Just then my phone buzzes for an incoming message. And the sender is
 Tachibana.
My heart skipped a beat. I don’t know why but that was the first message since the summer festival. I open the message curiously

“Sorry I’m going home. – Tachibana”

. SERIOUSLY??? JUST LIKE THAT?
He just went home like its nothing?? And to think I was hoping for his messages all these times???
I threw my phone into my bag furiously. I guess I’m going through this meeting alone for my class.
--
The meeting ended finally and I was so tired listening to the same briefing for class representative. It’s boring and lengthy. As I walk home I was wondering about Tachibana and his new attitude. What is wrong with that boy??
“Aaa Yui-chan! Yui-chan!” I heard someone shouted my name. I turn around and saw Rei waving at me from his car. Rei is
well well, Tachibana’s older brother. He resembles Tachibana a lot but of course a lot more matured and kind.
“Ah Rei-kun. How nice to see you around.” I greeted him. He was fanning himself inside the car. That’s weird.
“Ah Yui-chan, I couldn’t ask for anyone better than you.” He was having this –my wish has come true finally- look on his face.
“My car broke down and the mechanic is on his way now. But I’m afraid that my ice cream is gonna melt if it stays here till the mechanic arrives. Can you bring this to my house?” He half begged.
Seriously, is he a kid? Ice cream? What’s with Tachibana’s family??
“I guess I can help with that.” I took the grocery bag.
“Here’s the house key.” He gave me a keychain strapped with keys.
“Eh? There’s nobody at home? I thought Tachibana is already at home.” I asked.
“I tried calling home, but he didn’t answer. I guess he must have gone out or something.” Rei replied. He then hurried me away, worried for his ice cream to be melted.
I walk toward Tachibana’s house. It’s been a while since I went to his house. Eventhough we live in the same district, we hardly see or bump onto each other as his house is a bit isolated from the main roads.
Finally, I arrived at his house. I was being careful and ring the bell first.

Well I guess nobody is at home. I entered the key into the keyhole and unlock the door. It is a nice and friendly atmosphere inside. It makes me wonder how Tachibana went all messy and unorganized living in this nice house
God I can’t take him out of my mind. What is wrong with him seriously?

I opened the fridge and put in the beloved Rei’s ice cream and close it back. Now he should feel calm
I guess... As if he is a restless soul that needs a resolution. Haha.
I turned back toward the living room and main entrance.
I was about to open the door when I caught a glimpse of something moving on the couch in the living room

“OH MY GOD. I DIDN’T MEAN TO MAKE A PUN ABOUT RESTLESS SOULS. PLEASE FORGIVE ME!” I prayed hard with closed eyes.
I opened my eyes a bit
and I saw a body on the couch
 That’s no ghost
 That is
 Tachibana?
I walk over to him unconciously

He looks peaceful sleeping there
I never saw this side of him

Why is he sleeping so much today? Didn’t he get proper sleep lately?
And why is he avoiding eye contact and didn’t say anything to me today? Before this, he would just come over and say something so lame like have a nice day, be careful on your way back home
now he didn’t even want to talk to me anymore

As I mingle with my thoughts, he opened his eyes.
“EH??” He sprang up from the couch, obviously surprised. I was also surprised and jumped back a bit.
His eyes went wide but that was the clearest image of his eyes I have ever seen today. His hair is a bit messy

As we stares into each others eyes, I realized that I owe him an explanation as to why I am in his house. LOL usually it’s the other way around. HAHA what am I thinking??
“I’m sorry! I was..Your brother’s car broke down; I carried his groceries because he doesn’t want to ruin the ice cream. He gave me the key. I’m sorry for intruding like this!” I blurted.
Finally his face calmed and he quickly averted my eyes again
He covered his face and slowly stood up.
“Why didn’t you come to the meeting? They were telling some important stuff you know.” I lied. And I don’t know why I did that.
And he just bowed and walks away toward the stairs.
He isn’t talking again! What is his problem??
Suddenly, something inside me urges me to do something that even I was surprised by it. I quickly walk toward him before he reaches the stairs and pulled his hand
More like turning his body around because he was easily turned
 like a feather.
“Now, what is wrong with you? You are obviously avoiding me right? And why are you behaving like this? Did I somehow hurt your feeling today?” I hang on to his arm as he was trying to pull it back.
He was struggling? Or more like a fish trying to free itself from a strong crane. Was he this weak?
He still covers his face with his other hand as if he is allergic to my existence.
I pulled his other hand down and saw how red his face was. He was sweating already and his hand feels hot.
“Please..please let go
” Finally
he speaks. But it was more like a whisper rather than a speech.
“Then talk to me what is the problem?” I demanded.
“uhm.. “
And then he starts coughing. He turned away his face immediately and he looked like he was struggling to contain the coughing.
“Are you sick?”
I reached his forehead and it was burning hot.
“Oh my god, you’re having a fever!”
I pulled him toward his room and shove him onto his bed.
“If you’re sick, why didn’t you tell so?” I pulled the blanket over his body and he just watched.

“Why arent you talking? Do you need me to do anything?” I asked.

“Can you keep it down? It’s like having a nuclear war in my head everytime you speak.” Tachibana replied weakly.
That was the longest sentence he ever said that day to me. And to think it’s to shut me up!
“Fine! TSK! I’m leaving” I pouted unconciously. Why am I helping this boy??

As I was about to reach the room’s door

“I’m sorry
Thank you Yui. I didn’t talk to you because I don’t want to pass on this cold to you
”

I turned around and he was covering his face altogether with the blanket

I walked down the stairs and went out of the house

“ He avoided me because he doesn’t want to pass on the cold to me?...”
My cheek is burning red and my heart skips beat again

He was thinking about me all those times

Paris.
HELLO This is so delayed it’s not even funny!! I apologize!!! I have been almost a purely authentic human being for almost a month now. For the sake of my brain and for the sake of whoever is reading this, it’s going to be more of an outline than a narrative.
My story begins on Thursday, February 9th. Which is literally one month ago.
British Board of Film Classification: I was here for class like I’d mentioned previously! We watched lots of movie clips to demonstrate what kind of ratings certain movies get and for what reason. It was actually really interesting and I’m always down to learn more about movies.
Flight: After that I came home, finished packing up my stuff, ate some dinner, and we left for Gatwick Airport, which is basically my second home at this point. I think our flight was actually the last flight to leave Gatwick at 9:30, which isn’t really that late? Not sure. We got to Paris at 11:30 (we gained an hour, and our flight was only about 45 minutes long) and ubered to our hotel where we met Natalie, who’d flown in that morning. We went to sleep pretty quickly so we’d be ready for a full day on Friday.
Friday, Feb. 10th
The Louvre: We woke up relatively early, grabbed a croissant, and walked ~20 minutes to the Louvre. I had no idea that the building used to be a palace, but it was pretty apparent while we walked through it. Because we were only in Paris for a few days, we had to go through the museums pretty efficiently and not as slowly as would be ideal. We saw the Mona Lisa, of course, and the Venus de Milo. We wandered around for a while and saw more paintings, and did some people watching. Overall pretty cool time.
Brunch brunch brunch: we went to a place called Eggs & Co., which really sounds like my mecca. I had an eggs benny and it was pretty decent. It was nice to sit down and chill for a bit. The staff was really friendly though, which is apparently rare for Paris, so that was a plus.
Musee d’Orsay: From brunch we went into this beautiful, beautiful building. I loved this museum, from its architecture to its overall structure to its contents. Really nice. When Carly was recommending me places to go she said it was here favorite and I understand why. It was an aesthetic dream. Huge fan. Impressionism is a crowd pleaser and I was very pleased. I probably could have cried tears of happiness in there actually. The body couches near the giant clock face was a plus.
Walk to the Champs Elysees: When we left the museum, it was snowing outside. Great. We walked along the Seine, through the Jardin de Tuileries, and to Laduree for some delicious macarons. The chocolate hazelnut was my favorite. We swung by Place de Condorde on our way to the Champs Elysees. Everything in Paris is so grand and charming, which fits the general description I think. We walked all the way up to the Arc de Triomphe, stopping into Sephora on the way to watch a quick flash mob.
Eiffel Tower: Go figure, from the Arc we head to watch the Eiffel tower get lit up. It was cold so we had some warm crepes. After we stared at that beautiful piece of metal for a bit, we decided to head back to the hotel.
Dinner: I’m not really sure how this happened, but on the way back to the hotel we ended up buying meats, cheeses, and wine at some local shops and devouring it in our room. Jasmine made us a nice platter and it was lovely. After we ate we debated going out and ultimately everyone went out while I stayed in because I wasn’t really feeling 100%. I passed out and hardly even woke up when they came back.
Saturday, Feb. 11th
Breakfast: On our walk to Montmarte, we stopped at a cafĂ© that Sarah’s sister had recommended called Rose Bakery. I had a leek and chorizo quiche and it was amazing. We also ate a lot of bread. Always a good time.
Sacre Coeur and Montmarte: From breakfast, we walked up the hill and up the stairs to the Sacre Coeur. It is absolutely huge. We peeked inside and took in the view from the top of the hill, although it was really overcast and the visibility was not great. It was cool though. From there we walked through the neighborhood, which was really cute, and stopped to see the “I love you” wall (it just has I love you painted on in a bunch of languages) and for macarons of course. We circled around to see Moulin Rouge, before taking the Metro down to the islands.
Notre Dame: The next item on our list was to go visit Quasimodo. The interior of this church was unreal; pretty much the crùme de la crùme of gothic cathedrals, and soooo iconic. It was neat. If the visibility had been better we might have tried to go up to the top, but it wasn’t really worth at this point.
From the Notre Dame we went out in search of ice cream from Berthillon, whose main location was closed as it was still “winter”. We ended up just going somewhere that served their ice cream. It was still really great, I had the coffee flavor which is a staple.
Shakespeare and Co: Of course we had to swing by this place. I could have plopped down and stayed there all day. It is the book lover’s dream and it is so small and cozy I wanted to live there. Living across an ocean for 4 months with limited luggage space is pretty much a living nightmare for an impulse book buyer like myself, so I had to hold back and not get anything.
Pantheon: From Shakespeare and Co. we walked to the French Pantheon. Copying the Romans but also the Greeks so why not both, eh France? We saw lots of tombs here! Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Louis Braille, and Marie Curie, who was the first woman buried there “on her own merits.” The building itself was huge, and there were lots of paintings and statues and memorials in it. Personal favorite was the wall about Joan of Arc.
Centre Pompidou: We took the metro to the Centre Pompidou to end our long day of looking at old stuff. This building is absolutely incredible and it houses a Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, as well as a library, shops, and temporary gallery space. It was very cool. There was neon signage all throughout the lobby, and the entrance to the 2 floors that house the permanent exhibits is via a very long and sequenced escalator that’s visible on the front of the building. We got a nice view of (still gloomy) Paris at night and also walked though their modern art galley, which included Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Pollock, Warhol, etc etc etc. Then we zipped to the contemporary floor and I had a blast. Contemporary art is just a lot of fun, in the sense that you can look at it and be like what the heck. Definitely an obtuse form of art, but I had a good time looking at sculpture that I didn’t understand. There was also a room of flow charts and mental maps by this hilarious woman from New England, which is right up my alley.
Dinner: Jas found us a dinner spot near the museum and we sat down for an intimidating French meal! We tried both foie gras and escargot. Escargot I really liked, foie gras was not my favorite. Solid meal though, and it was nice to sit down for a bit after running around for most of the day.
Afterwards we just walked back to our hotel, of course we stopped and had more crepes for dessert, and wandering into Les Halles, which is a big, lit-up mall area that’s covered by a really modern structure. It was empty and everything was closed because it was late, but it was really cool to see. Then we meandered back to the hotel and fell asleep.
Sunday, Feb. 12th
Eiffel Tower & Champ de Mars: On Sunday, we woke up, packed, and dropped off our luggage with reception. Then we hopped on the Metro and went to go see the Eiffel Tower in the daylight. It was still gloomy as heck though. The Champ de Mars was gated off because we were there in the winter (!) so we didn’t get those cute lawn pics that are plastered all over the internet. We grabbed some coffee after walking underneath it (we didn’t feel like going up because a) visibility was bad and b) a view of Paris without the tower isn’t super great anyway).  We were making our way across the Seine to go to the Trocadero gardens when I turned to the left and saw THE BRIDGE FROM INCEPTION. I wish I had a record of the face that I made when I made this essential discovery and I grabbed everyone and basically sprinted over there. Filming locations reel me in so easily over here it’s ridiculous. I was also thinking about the scene from Parks and Rec where Ben takes Leslie to Paris and he just really wants to see the Bridge from Inception even though the Eiffel Tower is right behind him. Basically, that was me. After I took way too many pictures over there we were back on course to go to the Trocadero Gardens to get another angle of the Eiffel Tower and also just check out the area. It was really grand, as most thing in Paris are, and we got a group picture.
Lunch: We got on the metro up near the overlook and headed to lunch at L’as du Falafel, which was recommended to us by I think a few different people actually. We all had pitas and they were amazing. Huge fan. Banzo-level food feelings were felt. After lunch we walked around Les Marais for a bit and made our way to see the Bastille monument which was largely covered in scaffolding because we were there during the off season. Damn you, winter.
Picasso Museum: This was our next move and it was spontaneous because we had about 2 hours left in Paris and it was open in Sunday and in the area we were exploring. I’m not a huge Picasso fan but I really enjoyed the museum.  I think that I like museums that focus on one artist in particular because you get to learn more about their lives and how they’ve developed their skills over time. I didn’t know that he experimented in so many different media, especially pottery! The building was also really cool and it had mostly a simplistic whitewashed interior with some selectively ornate bits. This was art museum 4 of 4 over the weekend.
Heading out feat. Crepes: It was at this point that the sun decided to come out, which was pretty insulting given that we were about to leave. Of course on our walk back to pick up our bags we stopped for crepes again. Not only were they the best crepes we’d had the whole time, they were also the biggest and most filling, to the point where I felt ill for a solid hour and especially on the way to the airport. Yikes. We met Natalie there about 30 minutes before we started boarding.
When we got home, the BAFTAs were in full swing 2 blocks away from our flat at Royal Albert Hall. They’d just wrapped up the red carpet when we made it back to London and I just about fainted because I could have laid my eyes upon our lord and savior Meryl Streep and I missed it. RIP in peace. Our flat’s TV was being kinda janky so we didn’t even get to watch it live. Instead I watched the SNL from the night before and passed out.
I was really hesitant about Paris. I’ve only really ever heard of people loving or hating Paris and I’ve also only really heard of people hating the French. I won’t lie, I didn’t really love the French either – out of all the places I’ve been so far they were certainly the least pleasant to interact with and the most confusing when it comes to how to speak to them.
I loved every museum that we went to in Paris; that was hands down the best part. We ate a ton and being the macaron enthusiast that I am, it was a highlight. It’s definitely a trade off with one of the most visited cities in the world: going in the “winter” means that the museums aren’t overcrowded and you can see a lot in one weekend. Going in the summer though, it must be beautiful. The gardens are probably mind-blowing and walking along the river has got to be pleasant. So I was a little sad that we missed out on that, but also happy to be able to walk right up to the Mona Lisa. I think that weather definitely has an impact on much you like a place. If I was only in Madison in January of every year I think I’d have a very different opinion on the city.
So, there ya go. I’ll be posting another blog shortly about the week that followed this trip! Hopefully I can catch up within the next week or so, I have a blog about my spring break in Italy ready to go, so look out for that.
