Sooo I was reading about the Nijiue siblings from one of your latest posts and got curious.

How do they all feel towards Iroha?

That depends? In the Student out if time Au/story blog they manage to fix their relationship and free the other 3 from the Nijiue parents but if we're taking a route close to canon things aren't that great amongst them :(

Hitaru has always tried to help her siblings in any way she can, she was essentially their caretaker figure since Ayato and Emina never bothered much with parenting. So she obviously cared and worried about Iroha a lot, just as she did for her other siblings, but due to the parents always piling her up with work and try to set her up with a suitor as she's the oldest daughter Hitaru didn't got to spend as much time with her siblings as she wished she could and before she knew it Iroha had dissapeared. She was greatly upset over her dissapearance and even tried to look for Iroha in certain occasions, but was punished by her parent's for "putting her duties as a Nijiue aside" and as the years went by she sorta lost hope that they could ever find her again, even tho deep down she always wished she could see her just one more time.

Jiro went through the same abuse as Iroha whn he was younger, being locked up in a room and forced to draw 24/7 until deemed enough for the Nijiue family standards, so he had a lot of empathy towards her and wished he could have done something to help her in that situation but because Jiro was so anxious and terrified of his parents he never did. When Iroha dissapeared he blamed himself for not standing up for her as her older brother and always assumed the worst must have happened to her when she vanished so he never actively tried to look for her like Hitaru did.

Akemi is.. Sorta the problem child of the family, ignored and highly criticized by the parents she seeked approval of for so long to the point it made her resent them and want to find a way to expose it escape from there grasp with her siblings of who she didn't have the best relationship with, she tends to be pretty mean to Jiro and gets annoyed at Hitaru for being a doormat for so long, but she did genuinely love them and wanted to see them grow a spine and fight back agaisnt their abusers. She butted heads with Iroha the most, as the two were always competing and getting on each other's case, but when Iroha ran away Akemi developed a strong admiration for her for being brave enough to leave their horrible situation, even if she did leave them all behind.

She always wanted to meet her again and see the kind of person her little sister became, but that never happened because Akemi died around the end in the tragedy after surviving a good chunk of the apocalypse alongside Jiro and Hitaru after their house was raided and the parents killed.

Akemi was partiality crushed by debris of a collapsing building, while her siblings did try to take the wreckage off of her and get her out of there, given the extent of her injuries there really wasn't much they could do to save her at that point. She passed away next to the two people she loved the most in her short life and although her siblings were deeply upset over her death, they took it upon themselves to follow her wishes and move foward instead of sulking in despair.

Hitaru and Jiro were later found and brought to the Kisaragi foundation where they were offered shelter as long as one of them worked there, so Jiro joined Rei's division while Hitaru was recovering from losing their sister since she took it the hardest. She still doesn't work there in the current time even tho she is doing a lot better, but she does visit the place frequently and chats often with her brother, Minako and Midori.

After the events of Sdra2 they are told of everything that happened to Iroha, including her involvement with setting up the Utsuroshima killing game and ties with Mikado and void. Needless to say, neither of them were happy with that information, learning that your little sister became a terrorist responsible for the deaths of several people is a horrifying revelation tht leads to both Hitaru and Jiro disowning her.

While neither of them like Iroha anymore, Jiro dislikes her significantly more than Hitaru as he sees her as no different from their parents now; a self-centered vile human being willing to hurt and throw others under the bus if it means she gets to come out on top. While Hitaru has developed a level of disdain for her, as much as she dislikes Iroha and what she became Hitaru is as sad as she is angry because she still sees her beloved little sister in her despite everything Iroha has done, i feel like part of her blames herself for Iroha turning out like this too. It hurts for her to be around Iroha, but she did visit her in her cell a couple times before Iroha an Syobai escaped from the foundation.

With the two on the run, Jiro does his best to help Tsurugi's division locate their whereabouts, as he wants nothing more than bring Iroha to justice, while Hitaru just wishes Iroha would take responsibility for once and turn herself in.

Hey there!

So I stumbled upon some older post of yours where you talk about EPIC and I gotta say, I admire your bluntness about adaptations hehe but I can't say I don't get you. I tend to have pretty strict rules regarding the adaptations I engage with.

My opinion can be summed like this: the closest to the "canon" (talking about canon with myths can be a bit iffy but I'd say you get what I'm trying to say :P) the better, HOWEVER it's likely I'll still greatly enjoy an adaptation even if it takes some major liberties IF and only IF I'm able to tell the creator of the media themselves is taking said liberties out of love for the material they're adapting.

(I will also tend to be more forgiving if I'm invested in the narrative the adaptation is trying to tell, hence why while I wouldn't consider EPIC to be an objectively good Odyssey adaptation, I still really like it for what it is.)

Here's an example. There's a book that I simply adore called "The Eight Arrow", it's a "spin-off" of the Divine Comedy in the sense that it takes place right after Dante's journey, and it follows Odysseus and Diomedes as they attempt to escape the Inferno.

Now, the idea of two sinners making it out of the Inferno pretty much goes against the whole point Dante tried to make with the Comedy. I still love that book because the Author's love for the characters simply oozes from all of his decisions: how Ody and Dio interact with the souls they meet and the Inferno shows a great understanding of the characters and setting. In other words, it's a work that stays true to the source material...without technically staying true to the source of material. Whichever change to the lore was made in serve of the story, but it kept this underlying respect towards the (admittedly few, in this specific case) things that were altered.

This is also why I really enjoy Ulysses Dies at Dawn by The Mechanisms. Have you heard of that musical?

Hahaha well allow me to again speak on how interesting it is me talking about Epic the Musical made me "against adaptations" for many and for others calling out to me and speaking on their preferences on adaptations like...I have the impression that if I was speaking against a popular trope to be hated like the movie Troy or some beloved book that was ripped out by fans I wouldn't have the same reaction! Haha so be it! XD I definitely see how you said it. It is just interesting every time I express my dislike on EPIC I kinda expect now someone come to me and tell me what adaptations are to them and how they like it and in what way etc. I find it very interesting indeed XD

I never said I am against adaptations of course. In fact I have spoken before how I ironically liked movies like "Troy" because not only it was well-shot but also because the "touch of realism" to it made me think of an attempt of a "what if" scenario. Like what if the characters in Iliad were real in real life and fought a real war? Does the movie have anything to do with the plot of Iliad? No. Was it rushed in terms of the whole timeline? Yes. But for some reason I liked the way they attempted it. And I do not see it as "Iliad Adaptation" but rather "Trojan War Adaptation" Likewise even movies about history like "300". Did it have anything to do with actual history of Greece? Hell no! And yet this bizare "video game aesthetic" was interesting and of course the lead actor is amazing as Leonidas. Was it blunt and bizzare? Yeah. Did it have anything to do with history? Absolutely nothing at all apart from some names and some events. Was it enjoyable to me? Yes.

I feel like people feel the need to somehow "educate me" on that (not you in particular but in general) exactly because I speak against tropes that are popular. There are many adaptations one can like despite how Inaccurate they are because the adaptation kinda sticks with them. It also happens. I am surprised though how many people are willing to say "I love the musical despite that" every time I mention my dislike for it again as I mentioned to old posts of mine "as if they wanna show me how possible it is". Like yeah I know it is possible. It just didn't stick with me. For the same reason why Troy sat with me despite the fact that it was way inaccurate and didn't get all characters right. I still speak on those too but I liked it by n large.

The book you quote sounds very interesting indeed and yes I see how you mean it but again this is what I wanna say above as well. Sometimes some adaptations stick with us and some others don't. Objectively speaking Disney's Hercules was not a good Heracles adaptation because it wasn't supposed to be. It was a satyric movie on Hollywood. I loved the movie and I love it ever since childhood. Did they make Hercules a fluffy sweetheart while in reality he was a big scoundrel with habits of drinking and screwing everything with a pulse? Yes. But I loved the satyric movie nevertheless. Even a three year old could tell Heracles better than that if the aim was to make the movie an adaptation of mythology. Do I still make fun of the changes? Hell yeah especially with my family. Do I love the movie? ABSOLUTELY. Also again that is what I said to all of my other posts that I feel like if a character is designed according to the original's spirit then the adaptation seems better. Again in my mind Epic missed that by a mile when they tried to squeesh such a complex character such as Odysseus to a "monster-man" spectrum and it is sad because the first series were far more accurate as I said before, to his complexity

I have heard of it. Even listened to some songs and read the synopsis. It is quite an interesting work for a musical album even if not linked directly to a theatrical release. Interesting to transfer the homeric poems into some sci-fi world (not the first time of course that is an old trope) so the whole cultural background of homeric poems is not a necessity there so it is an interesting way to dodge it. I should say this has as much relation to the Odyssey as "Brother where art though" aka little to nothing but they also use key parts of the plot to create a character. At this point "Ulysses dies at Dawn" doesn't seem like an Odyssey adaptation to me but a "what if this was done in the outter space" scenario and I really like the way they use keyplots to create a new thing which again is not imo adaptation or retelling of the Odyssey the same much as Disney's Hercules is not a retelling of Heracles myth.

gil and harley LONG answer. they misjudge each other initially!

gil thinks that harley’s hot the first time they see him. then he opens his mouth and they’re like nvm i’ve never heard a more grating voice in my life 😒 their first impression of harley is that he’s naïve and gonna get his squad killed with his goofy attitude. also that he’ll break trahearne’s heart by running into danger half-cocked and dying like riannoc. they circle him warily.

then they catch on to harley actually being competent, willing to run away, and more than willing to fight dirty. but he’s also kind to them and sincere about it. he confuses them!

harley can’t get a read on gil at all. other ppl are suspicious of them bc they’re ex-nmc, but harley thinks if gil were actually up to something they’d be pretending to be nice instead of being so… bitchy! and harley’s not used to being disliked. he can’t figure out which mask to wear for them, can’t figure out how to get past what he sees as their prickly defense (except that’s just how gil is) and it seems like every attempt to get to know them ends with a glare and dismissive insult. so he’s like okay i guess we’re being catty to each other now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and starts to push back.

and it’s freeing! they bring out the mean streak he didn’t know—didn’t want to admit—he had. gil also seems to respond better when he stands up to them (they like that he has a spine and an edge!) though harley can never be certain. they confuse him!

bottom line is tho, gil and harley challenge each other and they’re both better off for it :•]

he thinks she has good taste in sushi restaurants :9 and he greatly admires her. he can’t even begin to imagine being immortal in the way she is. to know that she will outlive all her mortal friends and still she chooses to walk among them, protect them, and share meals with them. ;w; seeing an immortal dragon stay grounded and funny and compassionate in the face of eternity soothes his concerns about aurene’s future.

alright so... this one's gonna be long too lmao i may not have a lot to say about all characters? but i'll try to go through them one by one also warning: there will be some character negativity, i didn't like all the characters right away

the VERY first impressions i got were through reading the lil character cards that were on the official A3!EN twt before release most characters did not catch my eye then, i was pretty neutral on them (which is why i didn't expect to like the game as much as i do now when dling) but Citron's description REALLY caught my eye as a wannabe philologist, i fully expected him to be one of my faves going into the game (which... looking back, i was not wrong but ngl it wasn't as smooth of a journey as i expected) Misumi's design also caught my eye! but because of one very specific detail: with Ikemen games i had a pattern of liking boys with a mole under their eye (ikesen Mitsunari, ikerev Luka and others), and i DID NOT KNOW A3! wasn't originally a cybird game, so i expected that pattern to keep going which... well as much as i love Sumi now, it didn't continue >.<; sorry Sumi i love you

now... in game first + current impressions

Izumi: i was immediately drawn to her, she felt like a character of her own rather than a blank protag to insert onto and i loved that, i loved seeing all her thoughts and past and everything right from the prologue, she drew me in like i was Masumi (joking) and is the reason i stuck to reading the story at first Currently i still love her! she's amazing and i feel a rush of love whenever i see people talking about her or making art or fics with her, she's everything!

Sakuya: HE SEEMED SO CUTE AND EARNEST, i was immediately endeared to him and wanted the best for him Now i am still endeared to him and want the best for him, but i also admire him greatly and think he's a super cool character to analyse (points y'all at @/desikauwa for some AMAZING Sakkun characterisation and analysis)

Masumi: the amount of times i sighed at him and wanted him to shut up oh man... he was interesting to me but also just... annoying, it took me a while to warm up to him but now? now i think he's SUCH a cool and interesting character, i care about him sO MUCH and i love seeing him grow as much as he has, i love him, he's my third haru fave

Tsuzuru: as... i think everyone who's been a broke college student? i found him funny and relatable but i didn't think much of him til after reading a bit more of the story now i believe that this man has been CARRYING Mankai on his back through all these years, i admire his determination and passion so much... and i also think he needs a break

Itaru: i did NOT like Itaru at first holy shit i was so mad and annoyed at him with his constant excusing himself to go game and shit... i was kinda satisfied when Yuzo told him to leave because.. yeah i had been thinking the same thing oops but when he goes on about how he could maybe let people in again i began warming up to him now... ngl Itaru is not really among my faves? BUT i think he's cool, i admire his perspective on adulthood and his words from Alex live in my mind rent free, and i like his development a lot, he's a great character and i DO like him a lot tho

Citron: like i said, it hasn't been a smooth ride with my love for Citron, i was SO ready for him to be my fave but then... then the gimmick happened and i FELL FOR IT SO BAD, i was so disappointed at first with how he "just seemed the comedic relief" and oh... oh past Cam you were SO WRONG, i still had an interest with him and after reading main story i was firm in the "Citron fucks up in purpose" camp, haven't moved from there since then now i have written an essay on him along with An! (@/ginjithewanderer) and he's my haru fave as well as my third overall fave! he's SO FUN AND SO INTERESTING and i can talk so much about him (please talk to me about him) i love him

Chikage: i met Chikage through fanfic after having read through all of act 1. specifically through Athena(ChetRoi on AO3 / gachakitakoreJK on twt)'s Misadventures of shipper Tsuzuru, i was curious about him and did NOT know about the existence of the wiki yet lol so i began reading more of her ckit and i was... let's say intrigued by him, he seemed like my type to be honest. then i read about who he really was and i was SO ON BOARD with everything about him, i was thrilled to have a character like him around but... at that point juban had already firmly cemented themselves as my top faves, he could not dethrone them now.. well i am still thrilled to have him around and think about him a lot, i get kinda... waves? of loving him and brainrotting a lot over him but it comes and goes

Tenma: i could NOT stand Tenma oh man i was so annoyed at him and his spoilt brat attitude. i was biased lol bc he reminded me of... someone i know irl lol but after a while he too began growing on me now he's a character i care about very much! i have loved to see him grow and it excites me to think about it lol, i'm so proud of him and i love him, he's my dumbass son

Yuki: I WAS ON BOARD WITH YUKKI THE MOMENT HE WAS ON THE SCREEN i loved him and his sass (and snarking towards Tenma) made me his fan, then THAT mkyk CG came and then Sardines came and then Night Walk came and oh... oh i loved this kid so much now i'm super endeared towards Yuki while also looking up to him, i think he's the coolest and i am so proud of him, i really wanna see him grow further and achieve everything he wants to

Muku: oh boy... this kid... i loved him and i was so protective of him SO FAST, he was so baby to me, i needed to protect him at all costs. also to this day i'm amazed at how this casual josei game has one of the best depictions of anxiety and anxiety spirals i've ever seen (compared to my own experience with it at least) now... this is another kid i'm super proud of, i'm so amazed at how much he's grown into himself and how cool he is, while still being an adorable sweetheart who i still feel protective of lol

Misumi: Misumi my beloved triangle boy, like i said i was ready for him to be my fave, and i was immediately endeared to him the second he was on the screen, and he was my fave before i had read aki arc but oh well... you all know my faves now lol now i'm still super endeared to him, i love him and think he'd be a super cool person to hang around, he's also one of the first charas i mention when talking about cute A3! moments, but tbh i mostly let my friends lead the conversation when it comes to him

Kazunari: the moment the first sentence came out of his mouth i immediately associated him with my irl best friend, i've loved him ever since so yeah i've always loved Kazu a lot but now, after reading everything? well he's one of the characters who make me feel unwell (in the best way) he's so amazing and so interesting and i wanna study him under a microscope but also be his bestie... uh yeah... i think he's neat haha

Kumon: i also met Kumon through fanfic and it was one fic in specific where Juza brings Banri home and Kumon was like stewing over it and i was SO CONFUSED like who's this kid and what's going on? then i learnt about him and i was so hyped for him because i love anyone who loves Juza lol, then i read his arc and oh boy it... it sure made me feel something now i love this kid but he's the one i have the most grievances over when it comes to his arc (speaking as like... a chronically ill person and all) it's not like i think it's bad or anything but it's just not handled the way i would've preferred... still, i'd do anything for Kumon and i love him and his energy so much

Banri: oh boy... oh man like i said for the oshi question, even before reading aki arc "i read his picaresque flair chat about the rubik's cube and… *looks at my rubik's collection* ever since that moment i knew i was a goner…" and i HATED it. i liked him right away and i was SO TSUN about it, it took me months to actually admit he had SUEM'd his way to the top spot on my list. The more i read about him, the more i was intrigued by him and... uh... something else... AND THE ANGRIER (/lh) I GOT OVER IT now... well, it's been a while, but i hope i still am The Banri Essay Guy to people lmao, i'm obsessed with this man, my brain has a favourite chew toy and it's Banri fucking Settsu, i was and still am, indeed, a goner for this asshole, i am still tsun about him sometimes and i love to bully him but gdi i cannot deny that he's one of my two faves

Juza: how do i start this... Juza Hyodo beat the shit out of Banri Settsu and he and i both became obsessed with him. i was SO SATISFIED by the fight and how that went, and at how Juza regarded Banri i liked him a bit right away but... i genuinely do not know when he became my fave, somewhere along aki arc and after i was done using all my energy on being a tsun... he was There now he's my most beloved, he inspires me so much and i love and look up to him so much holy shit, i can't say it for Banri but Juza Hyodo sure is my muse, he's the bestest boy ever and i need to spoil him and give him all the love he deserves and and and... yeah you get it

Taichi: i... didn't like him that much... the energy was okay but that combined with him being so... desperate for (romantic) love turned me off, but tbh i was so focused on Banri and Juza that i just... handwaved it and didn't really care much for him. it was only after he began acting sus that i became interested in him now... i do care for him now lol ngl compared to the rest of aki, he's the one i have the least to say about and that always makes me feel guilty because i DO like him and he's sweet but... and i know he would hate this! he is kinda overshadowed by others to me >.< still, i love how much he's grown and i get emo when i think about it lol, i am very much looking forward to his future and growth!

Omi: MAAAAAAN i was intrigued by Omi as soon as the whole "showing him the theatre" thing happened, and i liked how warm and caring he seemed... honestly? he reminded of a trainer i had who i love lol so i was immediately warmed up to him but oh man i was NOT ready for his portrait holy SHIT that was what firmly cemented Omi's place in my heart now... i don't talk about him so much but i love Omi SO MUCH, he's amazing and his journey of healing has been so so so good and i'm so obsessed with everything about him, like with Chikage, it comes in waves, but when it comes i'm hit SO STRONGLY by everything i feel about him

Sakyo: I WAS SO CONFLICTED ABOUT HIM IN THE PROLOGUE! I KNEW THAT HE WAS TECHNICALLY RIGHT BUT I WAS ALREADY ROOTING FOR IZUMI I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. part of me hated him, part of me was already so intrigued by him and wanted know more... and oh boy did i learn more... and i grew more obsessed every time now, while i do tend to leave the gushing about him more to An, i am so obsessed with that old man, i love him so much and how much he loves everyone in the troupe, i love his arc and all he does and every new piece of information i gain about him i need to take A Moment because of how overwhelmed with emotions i am!

Azami: with Azami i did NOT make the mistake i'd done with Chikage and Kumon! so i learnt about him in a more proper way and i was... completely neutral about him when i first read about him. then i saw his relationship with Sakyo and THAT cg and i lost my mind now Azamin is... i'm obsessed with him and with how much of a teenager he is, i love him and find his character super interesting and entertaining and aaaaaah son boy i love him

Tsumugi: i was conflicted about Tsumugi at the start too! tbh i think i may be a minority here but i was on Tasuku's "side" with their discussion and Tasuku being skeptic about Tsumu going back! but i also found him really sweet and i was starting to like him anyways! then i began rooting for him a lot and looking up to him and... then the valentine's magic SSRs came and i read the cross backstage and i became a sucker for the café buds? but what REALLY made me a fan was esute's Nocturnality and specifically... this piece of fanart (Dita my beloved!), when that piece of fanart came, i had to admit i was unwell about Tsumugi now the unwellness has kinda calmed down but, once again, it comes and goes, i can go a long time "no thoughts head empty" while just thinking about Tsumu and how cool he is and how much i love him and feeling really unwell, but it doesn't happen all the time

Tasuku: like i said, i was on his "side" at the start of fuyu arc and... that mayb be because i alr liked him before the arc! what he did at the end of aki arc made me REALLY like him and i thought he was really cool and i loved how much he loved theatre now... well that hasn't changed much, i still think he's super cool and love his passion but i ALSO think he's super cute and endearing and aaaaaah i love him

Hisoka: he was like a cat and i found that funny and endearing right away, then his arc began happening and i was SO intrigued by... honestly everything about him lol but... he was overshadowed a bit by his cast members because of how vague his arc was so i didn't care that much? now... he's still a cat lmao and i love him, he's so cute and sweet and i LOVE his story and arc so much, i don't have much to say? but i just... i love him, he's so cool, i'm so glad he has a new family now (and just typing that is making me SO emo)

Homare: HE WAS THE STAR OF FUYU ARC FOR ME! he was SO MUCH and ngl poetry is like... my weakest area when it comes to lit? so that was a weird thing for me to be so interested in, but i was obsessed with him the second he came on the screen now... well i'm still obsessed with him! he's the one reason i now am somewhat interested in some poetry and honestly? i love how he's portrayed SO MUCH i love every story he's in and seeing him makes me so happy i just kdfjbvhgkf i love him sm

Azuma: the moment he came in to aid Juza and Banri when dealing with Banri's classmates and then implies that those two have a special kind of friendship? yeah i liked him RIGHT AWAY, he was so amusing and i loved his teasing so much, i loved him. he was also my first SSR so that made me biased lmao, that backstage was the first i ever read and i was SO sold on him! now.. well, i still have a very soft spot towards him for being my first SSR lol and i love him and his story SO MUCH, and while i'm not really an Azuma oshi, i really REALLY enjoy it every time he's around, be in in card art or the story or anything again, i just think he's neat

Guy: like with Azami, i actually learnt about him through reading the wiki and oh boy... the moment he comes in and begins the whole android thing... i could relate to him so hard and i loved him, he quickly became my favourite rookie, to the point that when episode 8 came to A3!EN i changed my whole twitter layout to be Guy themed and left it like that for like a year or smth now i love him SO much! his arc and development really hit home and everything that's been happening with him lately excites me SO MUCH! i love him and i wanna know everything about him and i'm so so so hyped for... well everything w him lol

Of course, Gabi and Reiner get along great 

They’re cousins after all 

So the two of them were basically built in buddies from the start

Porco is a perfect mix of both of them he loves playing pranks on Reiner but also scolds Gabi when she needs it 

Reiner is literally exhausted by the feral energy and basically holds the two of them on leashes 

He cannot take them anywhere in public without being humiliated and violently humbled all at the same time 

But when shes not with Porco and Reiner you can usually find her with JSC

Jean, Sasha and Connie became friends with her completely by accident when they met up with Reiner one day and she happened to be there

Falco and Historia are definitely buddies 

She def used to babysit him when he was a little kid 

He had his first little crush on her when he was like seven and he gets relentlessly teased for it 

She absolutely adores him and thinks hes the cutest thing ever and constantly tells embarrassing stories from when she used to babysit him 

Much to his dismay though

Even tho she hasn’t babysat him in a few years shes still there for him a lot 

She picks him up from school sometimes and when his parents are out of town overnight she’ll drop by with pizza or she’ll make a homecooked meal for him and Colt just to check up on them 

 And she of course takes Ymir with her since they’re a packaged deal, whos constantly giving Colt serious side eye whenever he looks at Historia for longer than five seconds 

Ymir and Falco also get along really well, hes also been around Ymir a lot, all the way back when Historia insisted they were just friends 

So Falco is used to her being in the car while he gets rides home from school

Another person he also really gets along with is Marco! 

Marco is one of his biggest role models because hes basically in the same role in the friend group as Falco 

And Falco really admires the way he’s able to deescalate situations and diffuse arguments all while being very kind about it 

When Marco finds out he is GASSED

Its the greatest honor hes ever received and he feels so special cuz he loves kids! 

Hes always there to give him advice that hes too embarrassed to ask Colt for

Falco very much prefers being around the 104th as opposed to the warriors since they’re closer to his own age and the warrior intimidate him a bit honestly 

But i can see him hanging around Zeke quite a bit

And Pieck made it the BIGGEST running joke for YEARS

Zofia

Due to being friends with her Mother, Pieck and Zofia are super close!! 

Pieck absolutely adores her and spoils the hell out of her  Every birthday, every christmas since she was practically a baby Pieck would buy her cute little dresses fit for a porcelain doll 

Pieck was the first person who ever did Zofia’s makeup, curled her hair and painted her nails 

She was the first person she ever had a sleepover with too when she was little! :)

Since Gabi isn’t the most girly, Pieck holds tightly onto the femininity that Zofia likes to show 

Whenever theres a school dance or any formal event, Pieck is always the first person Zofia goes to because she knows exactly where to get dresses and pretty nail polish

She definitely gives her a ton of cute nicknames like Zofie and Zoe <3

I also headcanon that Zofia and Annie are distantly related

The kind of related where they would only see each other once in a blue moon at someones wedding or a funeral for an old family member neither of them remembered

Despite this, whenever Zofia gets dragged by Falco and Gabi to one of the get togethers the 104th has 

Annie always makes sure Zofia stays close to her and doesn’t get wrapped up in whatever crazy shit Connie, Sasha and Jean are doing

He feels super special with being trusted with this job because he thinks it might be able to score him some points with Annie

I know shes not a warrior, but y’all already know he gets along the best with the love of my life Hanji Zoe

Shes definitely one of his moms closest friends 

And his science teacher! 

They’re the reason why he loves science so much! They’ve taught him most of the stuff he knows about all of his special interests 

She gives him rides home from school sometimes when he doesn’t walk back with his friends 

They always stop by mcdonalds for ice cream and fries on the way home despite her knowing sugar makes him really hyper 

But thats a problem for his mom not them LMFAO 

Hes a mature kiddo so hes always gotten along really well with the adults, so he gets along well with his other teachers Levi and Erwin as well 

But out of all of the 104th, Udo and Armin are for sure the closest 

They share a lot of common interests and always have a lot to talk about 

For one Armin loves hearing all the facts about animals, birds and bugs 

And the two of them like to go bird watching together while everyone is inside fighting over the Xbox controllers 

I see the two of them getting overstimulated by sound and lots of people being around so they like to go for quiet walks together and chat amongst themselves in general silence 

They talk about the books they’re currently reading and share story ideas and prompts with each other 

As well as new music artists they’ve discovered that they think each other would like 

Udo is kind of like the chaotic to Armin’s calm

Its a good balance for him, compared to the others Udo is a lot quieter and calmer and they have a lot more in common than he does with some of his friends 

So hes like a little brother :) 

However upon learning that Udo looks up to him and sees him as a role model that made him really nervous and suddenly makes him feel like hes not worthy of being a kids role model and like he would let him down somehow

okay so I'm doing Morrigan's personal quest, and while Zoloft is thoroughly horrified and disgusted at Flemeth for killing and possessing her daughters; if she could get away without fighting The Witch of the Wilds, not the daughter or whatever Morrigan is, then Zoloft absolutely will. The current goal is to locate the actual grimoire and keep Morrigan alive until the blight is over.

Zoloft respects her as a mage and her ability to stand her ground around templars as if there is no danger. Its something Zoloft greatly admires, and she does want Morrigan's respect. So to kill Flemeth would definitely improve their relationship (I practically maxed out our relationship but that's mostly because I hardly take her out and I give her as much jewelry as possible. I'm not actually certain how to properly friendship Morrigan) and it will establish Zoloft as stronger than any legend, proving to anyone that she is indeed Powerful and Strong, something to be Feared.

but now that Flemeth is talking, Zoloft is trying to figure out what her game is. To Zoloft, every mage will gladly sell out the other to save their skin; its what she did when Jowan was caught escaping, what Uldred did when his apprentices were too weak, what Irving does to every single apprentice (she is still mad about the Harrowing) Flemeth may seem insane, but Zoloft thinks she's just weird and using it as an act to hide how smart she actually is.

Eventually he began to take interest in your animes and the two you binge watch as many as possible. Saeyoung and Jaehee have to drag you two out of Yoosung’s living room couch because the two of you had been surviving on chips, snacks, and sodas for literally about a week and hadn’t come out (the anime’s were sO GOOD THO)

The same thing happens once you two start playing LOLOL and other video games (you become hermits for a while until Jaehee once again drags you out by your ear-)

Once the relationship deepens and Yoosung learns more about you, he falls head over heels. He loves you in your good days and bad days. He thinks you’re a beautiful person both in the inside and outside- he admires you for being so strong, and is there to offer support whenever you need it.

He understands sometimes it might get hard- but it’s those moments when you are feeling down that he offers you all of his love.

jupiter is aether’s and lumine’s big sibling, so they all get along very well. i like to think aether and lumine are way more brash and “act before you think” kind of people, while jupiter usually is the one who takes lead (both because of the big sib energy and because they are way more analytical). that being said, jupiter is aware that the twins are very much capable of surviving on their own and fighting if there is any need for that, which is why even after losing touch with them in tevyat they know that the twins will manage somehow, they just need to find them

2. is your character proud of, ashamed of, or indifferent to their feelings towards members of a certain gender?

i’d like to think that the species/society the trio comes from doesnt give a fuck about gender and sexuality so jupiter would never feel ashamed or upset about their feelings towards specific genders. i dont think they would rlly label themself but they are definitely not straight. as to having feelings towards others: they are usually straight forward in their approach

3. what is your character's relationship with themselves?

jupiter knows their purpose and objective very well, but that often clouds their true desires. i like to think that they havent really been thinking for themself up until they were stranded in tevyat and had to rely on themself. they came to realize their own opinions and perspectives that they carry with themself everywhere they go. tho, their views are rather flexible, because they are very much willing to learn if an oppoturnity arises. that being said, they dont quite know themself well just yet, they are still learning after all

4. what is their favorite region? why?

with how much of the game is available rn, liyue is definitely their favorite so far. it’s culture is incredibly rich and full of fascinating stories and legends. i personally am looking forward to the release of sumeru, but what will come out of it is yet to be seen

5. what is their relationship with Zhongli? do they have one at all?

oh they very much do. while his charm and politeness are qualities that they very much enjoy, what originally drew them closer to him was his vast knowledge over liyue’s traditions and customs. at first during their stay at liyue harbor they would wait to catch him during his afternoon and evening strolls around the city to ask him things and carefully listen to everything he has to say. id like to think that zhongli appreciated having such an active listener and even a conversation partner at some point. eventually their little friendship grew into fondness for each other and they would seek each other’s company, until jupiter straight up confessed. id like to think their relationship is fairly innocent and very much founded on mutual respect and admiration. they both value honesty and communicate with each other rather well. and even though, zhongli hesitated before agreeing to travel with them, leaving liyue behind, he doesnt regret doing it

6. who is their love interest? If they do not have one, who is their closest friend?

while zhongli is both their love interest and their dear friend, venti is their first close friend. during the events of chapter I they both bonded. venti seemed like someone containing a vast amount of knowledge that jupiter was eager to discover. it quickly became apparent to them that the bard doesnt particularly like to talk about the past in detail, but venti still would surprise them with how much he knew about art and the culture surrounding it. they are both pretty light spirited so they always enjoyed each other’s company and their bond only grew stronger during their travels.

7. what do they think of Mona?

they are curious about and intrigued by her methods. they can also very much relate to her pursuit of lost/forgotten knowledge. they like to ask her about astrology and theorize with her, asking her to teach them little things for an exchange of a hot, homemade meal

8. what do they think of The Knights of Favonius?

their opinion on the knights is mixed. they can very much see that most of the people working for them are underqualified and not cut for the job or only doing it for the renown. while the idea of a city without a ruler is appealing, in practice the knights are the ones ruling over it and jupiter was left feeling sceptical when thinking about their methods and the possible future. they dont have anything against the individual people in the organization, but they do think their approach is highly flawed

9. wine is Mondstadt's most popular drink. do they drink wine?

while they do indulge in alcohol from time to time, they dont seem to be able to get drunk or even tipsy. they’ve concluded that since their body is built differently than a person of this world’s, its very probable that they dont react to certain foods and products the same way. alcohol is like any kind of a drink for them and many people are terrified when they see them consume it in large quantities

10. what do they think of Kaeya?

they like his playful nature and think he is a highly intelligent person, who doesnt show anyone what he is truly capable of. his methods, while very  cunning, seem rather brash, which somehow reminds them of their siblings. while they are very much curious about his motives and history, they dare not to pray if it isnt welcomed. during their stay in mondstadt they would often times catch kaeya lurking in the tavern and spending time with the local gangs and bandits in order to extort information from them while drunk. in the rarer occasions where he would be alone, they would sometimes keep him company, filling the night with talks about nothing in particular

11. if they were forced to make the choice between killing their love interest/friend or killing themselves, what would they choose? why?

that very much depends on when that would happen. pre-separation with their siblings, they would very much operate on the hard logic of “whoever has more information/more important information should survive”. however after spending time in tevyat and meeting its people, jupiter learns to greatly value life and their inicial stance would change to a more selfless one. the more they get to know about the world the more they are willing to put their life on the line to preserve life in it, especially if its the life of someone they hold dear

12. what do they think of Childe? 16. is there a canon character your character hates? why?

at first they were open to the idea of being childe’s friend, however with time they started noticing that something was wrong with his overt friendliness. when he revealed his true intentions, jupiter was not surprised, but learning what he had chose to do made them absolutely despise him. staying in liyue has taught them a lot and made them care about the people living in this world. however childe seemed to have no disregard to them. they will not hesitate to fight him if their paths do cross again

13. do they carry a lot of Mora?

having a large amount of mora is basically a requirement when travelling with zhongli and venti. jupiter does take on a lot of jobs and comissions, though mora is mostly a secondary issue for them. they do find themself owning quite a lot of it at times until they overspend with their companions and are forced to rely on their survival skills in order to save up enough to get a roof over their heads

when it comes to the family feud: neither. jupiter doesnt like to pry into family matters and they understand both kaeya and diluc never talking about their issues with one another. while they cant imagine siblings behaving like that, due to their own experience, they dont feel like its their place to judge.

when it comes to the knights of the favonius: jupiter slightly leans more on diluc’s side, recognizing the many weaknesses of the organization as it is, however they both come from different places when critiquing it.

while they do not approve of the fatui’s methods, they cant help but think that something much deeper must be going on. jupiter wants to believe that the tsaritsa cant be simply evil and that perhaps she has some other, hidden motivation for her actions. having spent time with and got to know the fatui in liyue, they also know that not all of them are cartoonish bad guys

overall the concept of archons seems very new and intriguing to them. they do try to get as much information about their godhood out of venti and zhongli. they wonder whether this world really needs the archons as much as it claims to

Aster, you are such an enabler and I love it. This going to be a long ass post, so sorry for my mobile followers, just blacklist “long post” or “cactus speaks”

Mitya… my light, my love, the apple of my eye… where do I even begin? I find it funny that he started out as my least favorite FE3H Lord just bc I thought his hair was stupid and I thought his weapon was boring compared to Edelgard and Claude. But he quickly became my favorite Lord not only in Three Houses, but in the series as a whole and one of my favorite characters in the entire series (Idk if I like him or Dwyer more- tough call). Ngl, at first I only jumped ship from the Black Eagles to the Blue Lions because I thought timeskip!Dimitri was hot af, but then he had the personality and the character development to match

And MY GOD, his character development. Easily one of my favorite things about Three Houses. He went from being a servant of the dead, a walking corpse who wanted nothing more than freedom from their constant jeering to a true king who fought instead for his ideals and a better future for his people. He genuinely wanted to become a better person and mend his broken relationships with his classmates and actually put effort into it. He even… ah well, I can’t elaborate but let’s just say he was even able to put aside his desire for vengeance in hopes of finding a more peaceful end to his tale of conquest. But he didn’t stop suffering. He still heard the ghosts, he still wrestled with his own feelings of hatred, and he harbored an immense guilt for the atrocities he committed. Yet despite all this, he chose to improve himself and try to heal from his trauma rather than letting it consume him. I think that’s really admirable and a decision like that… it takes a considerable amount of emotional strength.

His actions during the timeskip were deplorable; I do not condone nor defend them. And yet… I found myself unbothered by them, even sympathetic towards them. I just wanted to be there for him and help him however I could. It made me sad when I couldn’t even lecture him or invite him to activities. I missed him! But it made it all the more exciting when I could finally invite him to things again. Even towards the end of the game, when my support logs were nearly complete and all my units were the exact classes I wanted them to be, I would still take every free day to have tea with Dimitri! 

Like many other characters you’ve heard me talk about, it’s silly but… I am truly in love with Dimitri. And… I think we would be a good match for each other. I suffer greatly from paranoia, anxiety, depression, always feeling like a disappointment and like I’m never enough. Dimitri… he understands these feelings well and while he may not be the most emotionally adept, he would make a genuine effort to help comfort/calm me. Plus, I kinda love the idea of a guy who’s literally willing to kill for me, especially when I feel like I have to do everything myself and constantly defend myself against others. I want to be the one protected for once. In exchange, I would be incredibly patient with him and be there to help however I could, even if all I could do is hold him close and merely be there. I wouldn’t just let him walk over me! I would be pushy when I needed to be (especially if it was for his benefit). But above all, I would make sure he always understood how much I love and support him. I also think our primary love language is the same- physical (which is not necessarily sexual). Knowing his s/o is someone real, not another ghost haunting him; someone he can lean on and cry on… it’s really important to Dimitri. That skin to skin contact, the warmth of the other, even the pressure from the squeeze of a hand is very calming to Dimitri; it grounds him. (And I mean… who wouldn’t want to be held in his strong arms? Lbr tho, he’s totally a little spoon and I would happily let him snuggle into the crook of my neck whenever he couldn’t sleep)

Plus, I just think he’s really adorable and sweet! The way he loves Flayn’s cooking because he can tell she put love and care into it, the way he laughs at Alois’ shitty dad jokes, the way he bends sewing needles and worries his smile isn’t good enough… it’s all so cute! I especially love that he can’t taste things. I don’t know why, but it’s a really cute quirk to me! Plus, he’s really thoughtful and romantic. I love how he was the only house leader who said something positive about every single member of his house when you talk to him at the beginning. And the smile scene? God, that’s what dreams are made of. I also appreciate that he’s emotional and vulnerable. It’s refreshing to see that from a male protag.

Though, most of the time when I talk about Dimitri, I am referring to Timeskip!Dimitri. It’s mostly an age thing, but also to me… that’s just who Dimitri is. Seeing pictures of Academy!Dimitri is like seeing childhood pictures of someone you know. They’re cute and you have fond memories of them, but you also think about and appreciate how far they’ve come since then. Plus, I never really saw Dimitri as my student bc I don’t really see Byleth as a character (more of a set piece really) So, I saw Dimitri as I would any other character in any other Fire Emblem game- my unit who I happened to fall head over heels for and as a result made him STRONG AF. And like… have you seen timeskip!Dimitri?? That is 100% grade A beef. Personally from an attraction standpoint, I prefer the eyepatch/eyebag combo he’s got going on in the first half the BL run (nothing sexier than a man missing an eye who looks like he hasn’t slept in five years) but we love a king in recovery too.

Oh wow, I think I’ve said everything I can about Dimitri on this blog (keepin’ it clean)? So, to summarize, I love Dimitri with every fiber of my being. Imagining him with me… it makes me feel so safe and secure and loved. He gives me the courage to stand up for myself and makes me feel at ease. I only wish I could be there for him, to pull him out of his nightmares and kiss his scars while telling him how much he means to be, to reassure him that he can atone for what he’s done and that if nothing else, no matter what the dead and others may say, he’s more than enough for me. Dimitri may be fictional but my love for him certainly isn’t. Hard to say if I love him more than I love anyone else, but he’s definitely up there. He’s just… he’s everything all at once to me. He’s absolutely perfect because he is so flawed. He is so human and at this stage in my life… that’s something I need. There will never be enough words to describe my boundless love for Dimitri.

Fell of Red Truth (Kakera!Red)

- Alternate Title: Akaki Shinjitsu no Kiru

- Nicknames: Red, Edge, Akasan, Akaki, RT

- Act as Lord Ink's direct assistant and spokeperson.

- Also the leader of Lord Ink's colored truth Sanses due to his seniority.

- Was the first to be created by Lord Ink.

- Despite his title, he often let his emotion gets the best of him and ends up using the Red Truth incorrectly, leading him literally choking on his words multiple times.

- When either his Dream or his Nightmare go out without their master's permission, he usually covers for them. It's only when the situation disagreeable enough that he'd tell Lord Ink where they've gone to.

Dream of Golden Truth (Kakera!Dream)

- Alternate Title: Ougon no Shinjitsu no Yume

- Nicknames: Dream, Goldie, Ougon, Yume

- Was the second to be created by Lord Ink.

- He dislikes the notion of feelings, saying that they nothing but hinderance to the truth.

- Despite that, he's not entirely heartless. He just skillfully supresses them most of the time, hardly ever letting his emotions get the best of him.

- He greatly despise any form of lies and deception. Technical truths are tolerateable though.

- While he doesn't mind the notion of shipping, he tends to stay away with most of problematic ships. To give you an idea, he vehemently hates DreamMare.

- When not on duty, he usually helps Lord Ink with the archiving process. His part is to rewrite stories to be documented later on.

- Beside Lord Ink, he also serviced under the Game Master of Rokkenjima game boards, Lady Beatrice and Lord Battler (mostly the former). He considers them as his "true masters" due to the origin of Golden Truth.

What was her strategy like during the first war?

   She will appear and attempt to coerce the opposing side to surrender before the fight so that no one has to die. Because as much as she is willing to administer force she would like to preserve what there is or they are truly lost if it becomes all out civil war. But in the end she leads the fight, posting groups on the sides of the battle to flank while she distracts by leading the main force head on. perhaps using dragons as well, though I feel that's more end game that she would use them. though most battles she will employ high priests/generals to command while she focuses on the bigger picture. Also sending Solas off to other territories to possibly snatch up slaves while the focus is on the impending battles. Though in the end Mythal is beaten by two things, being overpowered and hesitation.

What is her relationship like with Elgar'nan? what happened with her mortal family, so to speak?

    With the concerns of EL/family, she at first admired his assertiveness and moral strength because I get the feeling she really thought that he wanted what was best for the land and its creatures if we're going with the whole "took revenge on the sun", because I really haven't figured out how to interoperate that. And I feel that they were both young and full of fire so it they would've hit it off quickly and Mythal is not a shy woman, so she would be eager to start a family. Also pretty open with her opinions so she would've expressed her displeasure of working the elves and making them worship them because she is like "but we equal tho?" and I don't think EL would appreciate any of that. Since that would probably be around the time their power would be great enough to be considered god like and thus him becoming power hungry. So he might've taken their children because he wouldn't have wanted her to instill her opinions/teachings so that they can come to their true potential/"birthright" as gods.  And much as she turns her back kinda on her biological kids since she does not believe she will ever be a mother/wife to them, she still watches over them and takes subtle pride in their achievements, so when the final battle comes around - the thought of hurting her kids makes her hesitate to swing the harder punches so to speak.

What did you mean specifically when she sent solas to get slaves? Was the inequality something that bothered her, or was she particular about it? How did the fact elgar'nan stole her children affect the rest of her rule? And what about when they did come into their own as gods?

   Despite having worshipers and vallaslin, Mythal feels she is only playing the other gods game if that makes sense? like the vallaslin is basically to make sure nobody else is able to enslave them. And so the bigger picture is to make all slaves free, so she is trying to find a way to do that and keep the pantheon under wraps. So having Solas go out and steal elves away is mainly just to prove her point of "Not only am I ready to fight you, but FREE OUR PEOPLE." to the opposer. When her first two children were stolen, it came as a real big shock, like loosing a limb - you know its gone but you still feel it when your unaware. Like she would go in to check on them and them not being there and its a slight to her every time, though court would go over almost like normal yet she becomes slightly unsure of her choices/decisions, again with the hesitation. Though that quickly changes to coldness and determination after her third child is born still born because during the time that the first two were stolen she was pregnant. So she is very emotional through that whole period and her rule becomes an almost military setting while before it was very relaxed. Like her rule in the beginning was just more of a big socialite thing? Like a huge gathering of people that wanted to pursue knowledge and share it with others. Its similar to the roaring 20's, where everyone partied but there was also a great influx of art and sciences. But most of all it was very compassionate in her communities. People helped one another or that was a big value to have and one that Mythal greatly tried to instill.

What they look for in a best friend

It has come to my attention that a lot of headcannons are related to the turtles and their Significant Other. So I figured I would write up some for what I think they would like in more of a friend! (Thanks to @dragonslover1 for the help with Leo!)

Leo:

Leo would definitely gravitate to a very down-to-earth personality. Someone who is very in touch with themselves and their environment. Meditation is a very important part of his routine and it helps him calm down a lot. Being able to read him and pull him into a meditation session to calm down, or just to chill, would be a regular thing. Otherwise he will stew all day and become snappy.

Once he is calm tho he’s the kind of guy to just kick back and watch TV. He gets really excited when watching MMA or UFC fights and will yell at the screen and critique fighting styles. “OH COME ON, YOU COULD’VE BLOCKED THAT!” “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! HE WAS OPEN!!” “YOU’RE LETTING ME DOWN, MAN!” In the heat of a match will totally make bets on who he thinks will win. Being equally interested in these things is a major plus.

(and I quote): “SOMEONE WHO WOULD LISTEN TO HIM OH MY GOD”. Finally you would have to be an extraordinary listener. As the leader he has a lot on his shoulders and letting him vent/being his confidant would be the most important thing. Especially after fighting with his brothers.

Raph:

To be Raph’s friend you gotta be tough. A thick skin is a must when spending time with this big guy. Raph would admire a real “take no shit” attitude. If you’re not really the Jock type you’re going to have a hard time keeping up. Most of your time would be spent either working out, cracking skulls, or roasting each other over a game or drink. Being physically fit definitely works in your favor as wrestling and fighting are gonna happen.

Trust is very important to Raph as well, because more likely than not those roasting sessions eventually get REAL deep. You aren’t gonna see that side of Raph unless HE REALLY TRUSTS you. If you ever see it at all. Because of his anger issues, like Leo, your gonna want to be able to read him like a book and act accordingly. He’s mad? Punch this. Still mad? Let’s go beat up some baddies. Still mad after all that? Here’s a drink, hit the punching bag, what’s going on. And or, make a bet and physically challenge him, when he wins he’ll be guaranteed in a better mood.

That said, Being His friend is all about support. You got his back and he’s got yours. No matter what. There’s no 50/50. In the beginning, Even when he’s wrong, you gotta back him up. He’ll appreciate it. Eventually when you call him out later he’ll be less likely to act defensively. “Raph, you know I got your back man, just want you to know this is a shit idea and you’re gonna get us killed.” “Shut Up” (thanks dude) It’s a ride or die friendship.

Mikey:

Literally everyone is Mikey’s friend. There’s not too many qualifications when it comes to hanging out with this dude. If you’re interested in just being around the guys, you’re “besties”. This means a lot of video games, pizza, and skateboarding. Late night texting memes.

But actually becoming his Best friend can be a little tricky. You’ll find out if you hang out with him for a while, he doesn’t talk about his interests on more than a basic level. Partially because he’s the youngest, partially because no one has ever taken him or his interests seriously. Mikey has a lot of walls built up due to his insecurities. Getting through them is damn near impossible unless you have an IN.

Though I feel like that “IN” would be a shared creativity. Whether you are into music, writing, or visual arts. BONUS POINTS if you are into cooking. That’s something Mikey would really resonate with. Knowing that he might have someone to actively share interests with would be one of the most important steps in taking down those walls. He’ll start sharing more and more with you as kind of a way to get the affirmation he was seeking. While listening is important, sharing yourself with him would be what brings you two closer. The more time you spend talking, the more open he gets. This could mean just ranting to each other while playing videogames for hours at a time. After a while he won’t have anymore doubt that you actually want to be friends with him, and not just hanging out with him because you hung out with his brothers. Once this happens he opens up real fast. To an outside eye Mikey is just as jovial as ever, but having someone to actually share his joy with would increase it tenfold.

Once all his walls are down there are NO boundaries. You have to be ok with talking ALL the time, anywhere doing anything, about anything and EVERYTHING. 2am: *sands a pic of dragon fruit* “dude what the fresh hell are these fruits and how do I eat them”. I mean EVERYTHING. If Mikey is seeing someone, when he’s not with them he’s telling you Every little detail about his love life. Be prepared for TMI.

Donnie:

Your friendship will be immedate if you already have a knowledge of computers or engineering. If you ask an in-depth questions about what he’s doing, even once, you’re already one of his faves. Showing an interest in his work and taking time to just actively listen or try to understand is sooo refreshing. More than likely he will start addressing you over his brothers when giving details because he knows you’re listening.

You would be the only one allowed in the lab/shop without his supervision. It’s a huge weight off his shoulders to have someone who knows what they’re doing help him with projects. Consider yourself his new lab assistant because he has a checklist of things that need to get done. He’s naturally more inclined towards someone with a sarcastic/dry sense of humor. Whitty banter has always been a forte of his so having a back and forth while working will be a nice change of pace.

Donatello tends to gravitate towards people who is very meticulous and detail oriented is as well. Lots of “Hey can you double check my math on this?” Or “Can you come look at this and tell me if you see ____?”. He enjoys the company while pulling all-nighters. Also definitely reaps the benefits of having someone else do a late night coffee run. Being Donnie’s friend is more about the company than anything else.

Oddly enough I think Donnie would be the only brother who doesn’t really need an outlet to vent to. While appreciated, he usually rambles whatever is in his brain into dead air regardless. He is Exasperatingly honest with whatever is going on in his head and critically analyzes almost to a fault. This can cause him to veer off course often so reminding him of what he was doing is greatly appreciated.

Ok so.. I feel really ungrateful as fuck saying this.. but it kinda bugs me how much perrin being nonbinary just.. isn’t really shown at all.

At least, in what i’ve seen so far, yknow? I watched the first ep of someone else’s let’s play to see if i was gonna like this game, and i like this game SO MUCH that I stopped right there and am downloading it at the speed of light yo!!! My hype is maximum and I really don’t want this to be seen as a hate message or anything, it's just a mild opinion piece about something that bummed me out a little, as a nonbinary person.

Ok so.. again, this makes me sound like an ASSHOLE but I have to say it.. Perrin looks like a boy. 100% of all LPers I have seen have assumed they were a boy. I, a nonbinary person, assumed they were a boy. (And felt like absolute shit afterwards, man I still have to work on my internalized gender stereotypes!)

Now in real life I absolutely wouldn’t go around being some douchebag who tells other NB folk they aren’t dressing ‘right’, or whatever. In real life people can feel very different ways about being outside of conventional gender norms. Some people feel like “both at once” or “neither” or “something else entirely that doesn’t touch either side of our society’s current binary stereotypes”. And regardless of whether you’re agender/bigender/genderfluid or any other type of genderqueer person, your fashion sense doesn’t have to fit any strict rule to “prove” it to people. Some people try and dress in androgenous stuff, some people try to mix parts of both gendered fashion worlds, some people like to wear very neutral baggy stuff as a different way of being androgenous, some people like to wear wild and fun stuff that never had any gender stereotype in the first place/because it helps them feel confident in themself if they have a big brave kind of fashion, yknow? (that’s why I dyed my hair at least, and why I think a lot of lGBT people do) And of course, some people just prefer ‘feminine’ or ‘masculine’ clothes regardless of not being that gender, and if we can accept that cis women can enjoy ‘tomboy’ fashion then we should accept that trans people don’t have to fit into even more rigid fashion rules in order to ‘earn’ their gender.

BUT this isn’t real life, it’s a videogame

We have a lot more context here, with the context that this is a character designed within a fandom whose previous attempts at NB representation have kinda started setting up a trend. In that context, this is a bit worrying that it’s happened again, and maybe future fangame creators are feeling like they have to do it, or something?

Like the NB protagonist Pluto in Pokemon Uranium.

They’re still someone I deeply love, but their design looks incredibly masculine aside from a side ponytail. If anything their design communicates more that they’re a younger option compared to the other two, or something?

And the two NB protagonist options Ari and Decibel in Pokemon Reborn

Their designs look like more traditionally masculine and feminine-leaning ways of being nonbinary, ykno? And that wouldn’t be bad on it’s own, but let me try and explain what I mean...

A similar issue occurs in the unrelated dating sim Hustle Cat:

Which is generally incredibly progressive and actually the first dating sim I’ve ever seen that lets you play a nonbinary protag! But you still get only two character models to choose from.

Like it’s great that they had two options to aknowledge how not all trans people are the same, but it starts to look a bit.. odd, when those two options are ‘feminine and masculine’ and no form of androgenous is ever an option. or even like.. someone with a ‘masculine’ body build but a ‘feminine’ fashion sense. That would be kind of a stereotypical way to depict a trans character but it wouldn’t just be making a random design that could fit amoungst the already existing gendered protags and then just saying they’re trans. And a lot of people found it weird how these ones seem to be drawn as like.. both on the far masculine end, just a cis man and a trans man.

Like.. even as a nonbinary person myself, I wouldn’t have known these characters were nonbinary if you hadn’t told me. And that leaves me feeling horrible about myself that I judged them on first sight, but I mean this is within a genre of entertainment that’s literally never had any Me in it and i’ve got used to being all ‘no you’re just reading too much into it’ whenever i headcanon anyone as genderqueer...

And just.. I feel like if you’re gonna just draw another two masculine and feminine looking characters, or just a second masculine one (or a weird two masculine ones that’re labelled male and female with no option for in-between...) then couldn’t you have saved time by just letting us choose our pronouns for the two you already had? like I already play a lot of games headcanoning the protag as just a masc-fashion version of my enby self, I feel like kinda the point of adding a third design would be to make it something the others aren’t already delivering. Look at it this way, you already HAVE two nonbinary characters who look masculine and feminine, just like the player could also play them as a trans boy and trans girl. Pronoun selector box is the greatest invention of our time! So what I’m really saying is not “don’t have super masc NB protags” but just “can we have another option too?”

Oh, but then that’s also been done not-so-well by certain games too.. Awesome amazing multiplayer party game dating sim Monster Prom let’s you choose your pronouns!

...except these are your only character options! All of these are very clearly intended to be read as masc or femme, you’re probably gonna feel dysphoric as heck if you play them as trans, and none of them work super well as nonbinary either. I think pretty much every NB player has always gone for Oz (yellow one), cos he’s the one that’s most capable of fitting that headcanon just by virtue of being perpetually shadowed. Tho still his default is “he” pronouns, his fashion sense is masc and his voice is masc. Still I’m really fuckin proud of the fandom for collectively latching onto NB Oz and using “they” all the time in fanworks, and then the developers being okay with it, like holy shit man you healed my goddamn heart... <3

Still, it makes me feel a lil like this would have been easy to fix? like I’m not saying redraw everything to have them all change bodies/fashion style depending on your pronoun choice, but like.. maybe just not draw them with such super disparate body styles in the first place? like in this style every girl is hourglass and has weird legs out arms out pose, and every dude is a chunkfest with twice as big hands and feet. Like you could have maybe just made two of the characters be a very curvy girl and a very buff boy, and then the other two be more neutral in appearance but still retaining the same designs. Like I think if you just gave the blue girl a baggier shirt that doesn’t highlight her boobs and hips so much, she could easily be my favourite ‘most NB-able’ design! maybe also tone down the eyelash and lipstick effects?

I think probably a similar thing could have been done with the Reborn protagonists? like there’s nothing inherantly feminine about wearing a tanktop and having a fancy undercut hairstyle and such, its just the way they drew Ari that makes them look feminine. I guess maybe that’s a necessary evil of fangames, since they usually use edits of already existing characters from the games? Then again the games have plenty of androgenous characters already, even if nobody is canonically confirmed as LGBT. *shrug*

Anyway

I absolutely am not trying to nitpick and attack the game for not being perfect in this one aspect. i’m still super excited to even see someone like me in a videogame at all, and I’m definately not one of those people who’s like ‘I’d rather have nothing than have something flawed’. I already admire you greatly for what you’ve done for the inclusivity of this fandom, and I hope that my discussion of this stuff doesn’t discourage you from continuing.

And I guess my point is, in summary

What I mean is not “there are no nonbinary people who prefer to dress masculine instead of androgenous”, but instead that when you’re designing a nonbinary person as the only option a nonbinary player gets or the only nonbinary person in the game, with no playable option, it would probably be a little better to draw them androgenous.

Like, you’ve put that NB character into the role of representing all nonbinary people ever, to the hypothetical audience of people who’ve never heard of the concept before and aren’t super educated about the intricacies of gender presentation. And then also rather than using traditionally gendered outfits to aknowledge that NB people have many ways to present themselves... you’ve given us less ways to present ourselves.

Also it’s a little bit odd that you have an NB rival but said “we’re not ever considering an NB player option in the future”. Sorry but I cannot understand the logic? Like.. you know NB people play your game if you wanted to put NB representation in it, but you didn’t put it as playable because... reasons?? I hope maybe that interview was just taken out of context and you meant something more like “it’s not planned for now because it’s a lot of work and the game is still in its demo stage”, which is absolutely an understandable reason and how Uranium and Reborn did it. But Uranium and Reborn were kinda odd for being a world where literally nobody else aside from you could ever be NB, so I am really grateful that your game did add an NB character. And one in a big role!! This is what i mean about how grateful I am and how I feel awful that my bad internet typing skills are making this post come off as more aggressive than intended.. *sigh*

OH and also maybe a tip for Periin? just.. like.. mention their pronouns. It’s really frustrating to watch everyone doing let’s plays of this thing and constantly assuming Perrin is male because their design is very masculine. Even me! Even me was assume! :( So like... maybe just have Perrin actually tell the audience that they are nonbinary at some point, during this introduction? or have the protagonist’s inner monologue mention it, or another character mention it on the way towards meeting Perrin? like I dunno, maybe a Perrin fan npc?cos it would seem a bit more natural to talk about gender if it’s someone saying “wow I admire Perrin’s androgenous fashion sense” rather than like.. a stranger saying “i can’t tell if you’re a boy or a girl from your face”.

I can understand how it can be tricky to figure out how to introduce a LGBT character’s LGBT-ness without having them go around saying it to every new person they meet, it’s something I’ve had to fix in the editing process even as a trans person writing trans characters. But just having their gender only be mentioned on missable promotional material outside the game means that a lot of players won’t ever hear about it, and it like.. has zero impact of actual inclusivity on the game. It’s why people were angry about DUmbledore only getting revealed as gay after the series already ended. Him being gay missed all of its chances to make gay readers of the series feel welcome, or have any part of his character be informed by his sexuality. like the plot between him and grindlewold could have been way more effective if it was him losing a boyfriend to the dark arts, just sayin...
