dont worry tho, i do have some updates about the trip, and yes, it went well, no trouble getting to Moon's house, which is more a beach house, from the outside, it looks handmade, its actually quite comfy inside, we'll head back tommorow though, but Rivulet does wanna stay for a bit longer, to check something out in the water, even though we all went on a swim yesterday

then at that night, got a cool pic of the actual moon

plus a version Moon decided to spice up with effects, it looks very cool 👍

oh yea and before i forget, everyone that was on the trip, me, Rivulet, Spearmaster, Nightcat, and Monk, Nightcat told me Surv aint feelin too well, so Enot's lookin after him till we're back

my take on the agnes/gertrude/elias situationship is that gertrude seems like the most normal one to outsiders (she's less prone to arson/creepy mind reading at inopportune moments), but she is still the archivist and therefore kind of eldritch. everyone in the institute has just sort of accepted that yes, the archivist does sleep with her eyes open/is muttering incantations, and it's the least weird thing she's done this week

ok the funny thing is, technically, if by "most normal" we're going off of who is the most human, Gertrude is the normal one. but I don't believe for a second that that's how she's perceived among the rest of the archive staff lmao. like...all her assistants wind up dead, she actively works to make sure her filing system is the least effective one possible, she takes random mysterious vacations and comes back looking like she's just gone ten rounds with a tornado...I absolutely think that Gertrude has the reputation of being the eccentric on staff. I've prepared this diagram to illustrate my point:

Appreciation post for 'girly girl' characters and/or shows that celebrate traditionally feminine things that girls and women are shamed for.

Characters on this list that love makeup, fashion, hair, etc. Characters that are still written as strong, intelligent, brave, etc. That told young girls that these interests are valid, they are not lesser interests. Being feminine and liking traditionally feminine things does not make them weak.

Febhyurary 2025 Day 24 - Boss

"Oh! Hello Onyx! Did you run away from your mother and the boss again?", she greeted the small, black chocobo chick that had appeared beside her chirping happily. Onyx had been a little troublemaker from the moment he had hatched and Elsie wondered if in that regard he took after his mother Obsidian, a fierce but loyal birb with equally black plumage, or the man who had helped him break free of his eggshells and who -being the first human face the baby bird had seen in his life - Onyx often followed around as if he was his father. That meant when the tiny bird was not going on an adventure on his own or curiously observed one of the other people or Elsie doing their work. Especially so if it meant he got headpats in the process.

They had found the mother bird together with an egg on one of their trips in the cargo hold of a smuggler ship and assumed they had probably been stolen from an Ishgardian merchant. Not the treasure either Styrgeim nor the captain had been looking for but of course they could not abandon the birds to their fate. Since that day the two of them lived on this island too and brave Obsidian would defend their saviors with her life.

Man I miss cookie wars, I wish they would implement it in some way because it's an interesting premise with the whole candy zombie apocalypse. Cookie run kingdom referenced it with the "Jelly-eyed mindless monster" dialogue in the hall of enlightenment, and a decoration set featured in one of the early cookie run kingdom trailers.

Oh yeah, might as well share some updates to that AU thing I was talking about yesterday

Okay so really the only main thing I have is that I put a name to that female character I kept mentioning. I’ve sort of just decided that she’s Hoist now

I knew I didn’t want it to just be Elita or something, because the character in my head was very much in a support role, even if she was physically powerful, and that’s just not Elita, or not how I want her to be. So eventually I was like “screw it let’s just genderswap someone else” because that’s easier

My brain eventually decided “what about Hoist?” and so yeah, I guess that’s who she is now. Not like Hoist is doing much anyways, as far as I can tell

She’s basically the Autobot medic here, though she isn’t actually a full fledged doctor in the same vein as Ratchet, she’s more supposed to be a doctor for checkups and maintenance. I was thinking that she and perhaps other members of the group share Optimus’ struggle of not actually being qualified for their current role but being stuck with them

Unlike Optimus however, she more so takes it in stride and is just trying to keep everyone’s spirits up. She’s a very friendly and sweet lady. She’s aware Optimus doesn’t know what he’s doing and just wants to try and help him, which he appreciates

She’s also probably at least mentally in her 30s or 40s I’d say? I’m not sure, but she’s definitely older than Optimus, whom I’m putting at mentally around his 20s or so here

But also I still want to keep the strong aspect of her character, so despite being a medic, she can still mess you up if you cross her. And she’s probably beefier than her original counterpart for it

Also she’s married to Grapple, who is also a woman here because I wanted to keep them gay for whatever reason. Besides, can’t go wrong with more women. Don’t know if Grapple is in this Autobot group, but if she isn’t, she’s probably on Cybertron missing her wife

I don’t know, I like Grapple and Hoist

Anyways, on to design stuff

I don’t think Hoist has a g2 design, but I’ve been looking at some of his other toy designs for inspiration. These so far have been some of my main inspirations

I was at work all day so I couldn’t draw on my iPad, but I did at least try drawing parts of these three designs on my cardboard paper there

I think I’d want to make this Hoist a tow truck, but I don’t know exactly what kind of tow truck, I’m given to understand there might be an amount of diversity in that area. But I might go with the 2nd? I liked sketching out that chassis

I really only have distinct thoughts on the 3rd one here, namely that while I don’t think the design itself fits Hoist, I did like drawing it. But also, since I’ve given this rule that the designs cannot be entirely inspired by the original designs, something at least has to be different, I think this is the color scheme I’m gonna go with this Hoist

One of the main solutions I’m allowing for the “can’t look like g1” rule is changing up colors, at least somewhat. That’s kind of what’s saving Optimus in that regard

I went later and looked at more toys, and I think this is the closest to a g2 Hoist? But anyways, I think this is what that color scheme is based on, and again, I just like it, I think I’m gonna use it

Admittedly though, I don’t really like this design all that much outside of colors. I don’t like how the entire front is just the chest. So more tweaking is needed

I’m also noticing that makes the two Autobots so far both have a notable amount of black in their color scheme. Should probably switch it up with whatever future Autobots I do

But yeah, I think that’s it on this Hoist character?

I really only have one more thing to say, it’s that I’ve at least settled on Optimus’ situation here, thanks to a comment from @godrizza

Basically, he was just a warrior in the Autobot ranks, but he ended up successfully killing the former leader of the Decepticons (who isn’t Megatron). He simply saw an opportunity and took it when the time came. Unfortunately for him, killing the leader of Decepticons came with promotions he was not expecting, and now he’s leading a team of Autobots, despite not actually being qualified for the position, or really wanting it

But he’s now stuck leading this group and learning how to manage that. He just wants to fight Decepticons man, he was mostly just hoping for a pay raise or something

I think I’ve sort of figured out what I mean by him being rough around the edges? Like I’ve said before, he still has Optimus qualities, like being kind and caring, but he’s also socially awkward and used to being alone or just fighting. He also doesn’t hate his new crew mates or anything, but he did not want to be a commander and that mixed with his awkwardness tends to make him come off more aloof and mean than he actually is

I still have absolutely no clue what to do with Megatron here

And I think that’s about it? I just wanted to say before I went to sleep today. Now to go to sleep before my hair completely dries and I defeat the whole purpose of showering at night

About a month ago my new coworker told me he didn't like LoK (that's fine). When I asked why he said it reminded him too much of The Last of Us 2. And I was like ??????? HuH???? So I asked him to elaborate, and due to time constraints (and maybe him just....refusing to really elaborate????) the most I could get out of him was "Korra/Ellie choosing not to kill Kuvira/Abby at the end" and that was "bad."

AND THAT'S IT! Nothing else, no expansion. So I have to tell y'all, my ass hasn't been ok since. It's keeping me up at night. I'm trying to figure out what he means. Cause the math ain't mathing lemme tell you. I think it's all bullshit TT0TT Like this man had a vision, but god does he need some fucking glasses.

some random headcanon for @mjtheartist04 Demon Slayer OC, Rika Hinata

sometimes I imagine that Rika would have dreams where she would go all blind rage on a demon because well yea, and she pushed too hard to the point she got a severe and fatal injury. So she's left bleed on the ground, dying, thinking of how she failed to kill the demon and let the demon kill her. and she'd wake up and instead of seeing how her anger could get herself killed, she's just more driven to push herself harder.

(I had an idea, I have no idea how to articulate it so I tried my best :3)
