people doing this whole "look at how rhaenys acted with corlys's bastard son vs how catelyn acted with jon snow" to demonize one or the other is weird because, like, maybe it's just me, but i think that catelyn and rhaenys had different reactions because they're different people in different situations.

#personal #like they're clearly very different people with different personalities #hell even the situations are different #rhaenys kinda stumbles upon corlys's bastard whose name i don't know cuz i'm not watching this season just kinda in passing #she knew he existed but didn't really have to deal with it at all #meanwhile ned comes home with this baby he says is a product of cheating and just goes 'he's living here now'#there's no space for catelyn to separate herself from the betrayal of fidelity the way that there likely was for rhaenys #like i'm not catelyn's biggest fan #not just because of her treatment of jon (altho yeah i'll be honest i'm not a fan) but there's stuff about her personality #and how she views the world and what being in her head is like that can rub me the wrong way #(she's just so constantly judgy and rude about nearly everyone she doesn't know and even some that she does and it can get exhausting)#but she's a different person to rhaenys and also occupies a different role than she does #rhaenys has a lot more going for her in her marriage than just being corlys's wife #she's got the bluer blood as a targaryen princess she's got a dragon she's got power and influence in her own right #meanwhile catelyn doesn't have nearly as much #she's a lord's daughter yeah but in this entirely new kingdom where she is now her power comes from being ned's wife #and mother to his children #in her head jon is a threat to that power due to being not only a reminder of ned's infidelity but also how his placement could supplant #her children and thus herself by extension #along with her just having a different personality to rhaenys that makes her harsher about it #(i mean i still don't LIKE that she takes it out on jon who certainly didn't ask to be born but i at least understand from characterization #and again: they're different people! no shit they'd react differently!#i'm just baffled at this attempt to pit GOT characters against HOTD characters all the time it's so weird #like now there's people arguing who's better between jace and robb stark and i'm just left baffled #do y'all literally not know how to consume content in any other way except petty fandom wars? my god you're annoying

I just realized I never explained what bonten was

Ok so bonten is a criminal organization ran by Mikey, which happens after the battle with Tenjiku. So Mikey makes bonten to honor izana. The executives are Sanzu, kakucho, takeomi, mochi, Rindou, Ran, and Koko. This is literally the shortest arc in the manga which is my fav of all time

( ok so i hope this makes sense to you at least cause i have a terrible way of explaining things 😭)

its kind of funny to me that in the comics supergirl kind of occupies the spot for like the edgy superman. which is kind of weird for her typical role as kid sidekick to superman because her thing as a character (at least the versions of her character that i like) is that she doesn't have a reason to help anybody and doesn't like earth. edgy superman. but she's also the kid sidekick. strange juxtaposition

#it obviously depends on which comic you're reading #cause like there are completely different versions of supergirl depending on which version we're talking about #there's like 3 different supergirls with 5 different backstories #there's the one where she's a kind of slime goop that mimics the form of a girl--that was matrix #that was the version from the 80s that continued into the 90s--the weird run that had like angels and demons and stuff #god that one was weird #then there was the main one which is kara zor el but she has like 3 different backstories on her own #there's the argo city one which is truly horrible where like she watches thousands of people die in front of her #that one was most recently used in the supergirl woman of tomorrow comic written by the vile tom king at least as far as i'm aware #then there was the pod version (the more popular one) which has two variations on its own #variation one was that she's actually older than superman but got stuck in suspended animation for like 25 years #and variation two where she's just younger than him and i don't know how that works #of course the argo backstory is also the pod backstory they're not incompatible #it does beg the question of which you think is more tragic:#waking up one day to find out everyone you ever knew is dead and gone or watching them all die slowly in front of you #anyway the third super girl is power girl who is super girl except older so she's power girl because they didn't do a 2 spider man thing #this is easy to follow right #oh right and apparently they made a completely new backstory for her in my adventures with superman though i never watched that #because i still have to finish the supergirl cw show which is ANOTHER version of her character where she's 24 instead of a teenager #which sounds like a small thing but it literally turns her into a completely different character #i mean like powergirl is a completely different character isnt she #what was i talking about? right i kind of liked new 52 supergirl at least the first few issues #i really liked the disorientation of “where am i who are these people where's my family” she goes through #shame it kind of sucked #i'm probably not going to finish the CW show by the way. i'll probably give up halfway through season 3 if we're being optimistic

I can't stand the tension! I miss Unicorn: Warriors Eternal so much! I just need to know if it's coming back or not! If it's getting another season (or three like Genndy hoped for), then that's freaking awesome! If it's getting Zaslav'd before it can ever address that cliffhanger, then that's the biggest disgrace to happen in this industry in about a month or two (maybe idk). But just let ne know already! It's been a year! I miss Mel/Em, Ed, and the others so much! SGGYJGDGHBFGRKKDDYHHH

I don't think we've talked enough about how iconic it was that the flash got both Wentworth and dominic to play partners, ice and fire, with wentworth the one making the plans. Like the first episode he appears in they don't even show dominic, you hear him say "yeah buddy im in" at the very end of the episode. They gave them whole ass brotherly partners they started in the flash then moved to legends and all that after the first run of prison break, like they knew the power they had at that point. Fucking iconic.

went to toronto again for new years weekend and spent pretty much the entire time hanging out with paul bellini which included us rewatching a bunch of episodes from kith s4 during dinner on new years eve. and y'know the second best thing about watching kids in the hall with paul bellini is getting to hear a bunch of behind-the-scenes backstory about the inspiration for sketches, previous versions that never saw the light of day, , etc. but the actual best thing about watching kids in the hall with paul bellini is when an entire sketch will play without comment and at the very end he goes "the fuck was that?"

#i already sent a similar thing to the kith discord like right after this happened but i can't stop thinking about it that was so funny #the specific sketch he was reacting to was mark's monologue about having no sex appeal #(paul had completely forgotten that one bc he didn't write it and he wasn't even there the day it was filmed)#we were specifically watching s4 bc he's seen seasons 1-3 fairly recently but s4 he's less familiar with #partially bc he and scott spent so much of the year working on chalet 2000 #but yeah i'll do a full end of the year post as soon as i get the rest of the pics from hanging out at bellini's apartment on new years eve #but yeah this weekend was so fucking good. like we've really come full circle #from the days when i'd joke on here that ''paul bellini is my bestie'' bc he replied to my comment once #bc now i genuinely consider him one of my closest friends and it seems like he sees me that way too #like just the fact that we were hanging out all day both days i was in town even if it was just like running errands together #and any time someone called him he'd make sure to mention ''jessamine's here!'' and he sounded so happy about that #and we watched the video of my standup final together which i used to cringe at just bc i low key bombed in front of the second audience #like i think the performance itself was great the audience just wasn't giving me any reaction #but even tho paul had clearly watched that video multiple times he was still laughing at a lot of it #and making sure to note whenever he genuinely thought i had a great joke which was often #so now i have a completely different association with that set bc i got to see bellini enjoy it #i don't have a specific favorite kith member (i know it seems like it's obviously scott but i love them all for different reasons)#and it's also complicated by knowing some of them irl bc my relationship to each of them is so different and great in their own ways #but yeah there's something so special about my friendship with bellini #i'm so excited to move to toronto full time next year bc i already know i'm probably coming over to paul's for dinner at least once a week

I really would like to say something about Loki Season 2, write some analysis, whatever, but... The whole thing is just making me feel TIRED.

Guys. You can do better than this. I promise, you can do better than this. In terms of general storytelling, but especially where queer representation is concerned. Why did you even think that there would be queer rep in the first place?! For fuck's sake.

#season 2 was actually quite nice...#but not worth the effort of watching season 1 #and it's still all very hollow #the whole show is just hollow I have no other ways of describing it #they took a story that had SO MUCH POTENTIAL #and then made the most boring choices every single time they could make a choice #didn't put any effort into fleshing out any of the new characters #nor to get Loki sound like himself from the movies #connect his quest to the one he had in the MCU in any way shape or form #and I don't want to shit on anyone's enjoyment of media that would be stupid #BUT WHY IS THIS GETTING PRAISE?!#WHY IS IT PUT ON THE SAME LEVEL AS GOOD OMENS OR OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH?!#which like #actuall make sense #storytelling wise #the only value this show has is the one that people brought in when they were hallucinating their own parallelly of watching this #as I was saying we can do better #I am just annoyed because if you think that THIS is good #then what does that say about our collective basic media literacy skills #and standards #they can't be possibly THIS low #Loki show #superheroes #MCU
