I’m kind of amazed. To make such a fun concept into such a boring movie - that’s a skill. It could easily be an easy to digest mix of different short ghost stories based on the new “stigmatized property” the male lead moves in. Why was it not just that?
It became this weird mix of horror, slice of life about unfulfilled dreams and mellow romance. And nothing matched well together. I understand that they needed to set up a proper motivation for Yamano Yamame to even move into these problematic houses, but so much focus on these failed dreams was not needed - it made the initial exposition too long and too boring.
Then we have the romantic undertones between Yamame and Azusa and honey, no one watches horrors for romance. Not one person. It never happened. It’s unnecessary.
And the worst aspect? No development nor closure for any of the actual ghost cases. The actual screen time they spent in these “hunted” locations is laughably short.
The worst crime though? Nao’s acting. She truly needs to tone it down. I have not seen someone this animated and over the top in a horror movie in a while. Girl was determined to use every muscle on her face in every scary shot, even if barely anything was happening to validate such a strong reaction.
Overall, poorly constructed plot, decent editing, mediocre directing, questionable acting.

How do you. How do you NOT expect a wizard to want to become immortal??? Like hi person with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and wonder for the world and burning desire to know how everything works and recreate it. You only get max 100 years to experience it all. Sorry.
So OF COURSE wizards pursue immortality. It’s in their nature. It’s what makes them wizards. Sure, you can talk about the loneliness of living forever and the boredom of not having an end but guess what else doesn’t have an end. Science. I’ll be very content travelling the world, helping people, and publishing my 39th paper on the solvent properties of moonflowers in potions while you’ve been lying in a grave for 200 years, thanks.
The problem is societal stigma against research into necromancy, which pushes young wizards away from studying ethical and safe methods of immortality and forces them to rely on untested, volatile myths about lichdom, inevitably creating yet another “evil necromancy wizard”. You think they would turn to such means if they had proper support? Proper resources?? You branded them as heretical and insane first! Why are you surprised that desperate, isolated, and stigmatized individuals become what you make them?
Wizards believe that life has more to offer than unfulfilled dreams and a sudden end. And the wizard is RIGHT.

Prescriptive diet culture, especially (but not exclusively) the sort aimed at losing weight, is ableist and sizeist, with frequent undertones of racism, classism, and sexism. It relies on the premise that all bodies can and should fit into a certain size and a certain range of “health” and ability, that fat and disabled bodies are inherently lesser, and frequently relies on patronizing or limiting the options of poor people for their alleged “own good,” stigmatizing or patronizing the food choices of non-European cultures, and judging women’s and perceived-women’s bodies more harshly than men’s bodies.
In response to this, various fat liberation, body positive, and health-at-every-size movements have arisen to challenge this narrative to varying degrees. One of the alternatives often promoted in these contexts is “intuitive eating,” in which people eat what their bodies crave, whenever they’re hungry, instead of following a prescriptive diet or schedule. This is framed as radical, liberatory rebellion and self-actualization against diet culture.
Intuitive eating is great for some people. However, there are some problems with promoting it as a universal solution.
First of all, “Everyone should eat intuitively” is just as prescriptive as any other prescriptive diet. It still frames food choices as something with a right and a wrong answer. What superficially sounds like “Eat whatever you want” actually becomes “You must eat whatever you want, and examine carefully whether you actually want it, and defend your choices accordingly.”
Secondly, intuitive eating is fundamentally inaccessible to the majority of the world’s population. Perhaps if we lived in a Star Trek universe where we could just command a replicator to create food and have it instantly ready for us, then most, if not all people, could eat intuitively. But in our own world, our food choices are constrained by time, money, and availability, as well as restrictions like allergies and sensitivities.
When I think about what food I want to eat, I have to think about what I already have. What I can afford to buy. What I have the time and energy to prepare. I might “intuit” that I crave a steak, but what I have readily on hand is a bowl of cereal. Intuition won’t help someone with chronic fatigue who can’t stand at a stove for long or chop vegetables, or someone on food stamps who has to stretch their budget, or someone who works long shifts and comes home exhausted, or a parent of three children with food allergies who only feeds themself leftover scraps from feeding them. Who has time and energy to cook a meal from scratch? Who has money to go out to a restaurant? Whose invisible and underpaid labor -- farm workers, grocery workers, restaurant cooks, homemakers -- does this system rely upon?
The third problem with promoting intuitive eating as a universal solution is that many foods are manufactured in such a way as to sensorily mislead the eater about their properties. The idea that “artificial” or “processed” foods are somehow “worse” than “natural” foods -- or that those are meaningful categories -- is ridiculous and baseless. However, it is a fact that many foods are made to mimic the look, taste, smell, and texture of foods they do not actually contain. This makes it harder for eaters to “intuit” a food’s properties by the usual means. Eaters may have to rely on ingredients lists and nutritional information rather than sensory input alone. This is especially true for people who have specific nutritional needs, like allergies or nutrient deficiencies, to either avoid or seek out specific food attributes.
Finally, even if all other obstacles were eliminated, some people are just not good at intuiting their own food needs. People with executive functioning disabilities may forget that they’re hungry, or not recognize their bodies’ hunger signals. Not everyone is naturally good at piloting a meat suit. Food is difficult, and it’s okay to need external reminders to refuel.
Intuitive eating rhetoric can sound suspiciously similar to the common rhetoric of the “natural” “wellness” movement, stemming from the premise that all bodies are born with a natural alignment to a certain standard of “health” and normative ability, and only external factors and individual choices can “corrupt” it. In reality, there are no normative bodies or abilities. Plenty of people are born with food-related disabilities, whether difficulty remembering to eat, anxiety, susceptibility to nutrient deficiency, allergies, diabetes, or all kinds of other conditions. Food is hard. Harder for some people than others. And that’s okay.
There’s nothing wrong with intuitive eating, but it’s not a universal solution to everyone’s food difficulties. We need affordable, accessible food for everyone. We need everyone to have the free time and support they need to perform all activities of daily living. We need living wages for everyone at every part of the food supply chain. We need clearly labeled food ingredients and nutritional values. We need a society where everyone has the resources, time, and support to eat whatever they want, and the information to know what they’re eating. And then, maybe, intuitive eating can be a more attainable goal for people who want it.
We also need a society in which bodily autonomy is respected, and people’s food choices and other health and bodily choices are rightly regarded as no one else’s business. We need widespread recognition that there’s no standard of health or ability that anyone “should” have and no way that anyone “should” eat, and that what matters is ensuring that everyone has equitable access to resources, which each individual can choose how to use, whether that’s eating frozen dinners every day, growing vegetables for fun, eating only purple things, or using a timer to remember when it’s time to eat. But until we achieve that society, “intuitive eating” might as well mean “let them eat cake.”

Why RWBY can't come back
The last news we got of RWBY was all the way back in July, when it was acquired by VIZ Media.
This much serves as a hard letdown for anyone who was hoping Dillon Goo and his studio could acquire the property, as VIZ Media is owned by freaking Shueisha, aka the guys who run Shonen Jump. It is unlikely to be sold back to a smaller studio.
VIZ Media buying it was a baffling choice to begin with, as RWBY isn't nearly as eternally-profitable as some of the other ventures it's been focusing on, such as Bleach and animating its Thousand Year Blood War arc. I suppose RWBY doesn't make for an ill fit when considering that it can simply languish on a shelf generating endless merch sales at a slow but steady pace over the years--VIZ Media is in charge of many, many series, and all of its biggest properties are surrounded by a haze of particle-sized smaller properties whose only real purpose is to add to the cumulative money flow in towards the studio.
But it does mean that Volume 10 of RWBY, in sharp contrast to what diehards crowed about when the acquisition was announced, is almost certainly not coming. VIZ Media's main practice is taking control of works that start in serialization form, usually manga, and adapting them, not generating whole new content. If VIZ Media even did feel like continuing the RWBY Saga, it would depend on:
other writers being welcomed into the room, because VIZ Media is a large corporation and is very unlikely to adhere to any fandomized purist idea that only Miles and Kerry should write for it and be credited with it,
other writers actually wanting to be associated with a series that is so badly stigmatized on the internet now. If you're Rooster Teeth, it won't be hard, you can pick from a pool of fans who will sell their souls to do so (and who cares about any quality), but VIZ wouldn't even glance in the direction of a tactic like that.
And if so, there's no real telling what it would look like, which is the axe coming down for the remaining RWBY fanbase, who are volatile and hostile and protective of what they think RWBY should be (i.e., Miles and Kerry). If VIZ Media is stupid, they'll plow ahead with this anyway, generating almost no profit because RWBY's tiny remaining fandom won't associate with it and RWBY's very large ex-fandom also isn't interested in it, thus falling into that Nintendo-style hole of making something no one asked for and then wondering why it didn't sell.
It would be much more in line with VIZ' profit-lined goals to maximize the revenue trickling into RWBY with another spinoff series like Ice Queendom or the manga series, which won't actually advance the story forward but will sate people expecting a Volume 10 at some point and merely needing any form of content to assure themselves it's inevitably coming.
Unfortunately, that means RWBY as a rebooted series with actual writers is also probably off the table, because VIZ Media are unlikely to do something they view as risky even if they think profit could be generated from it; the safer option is the trickle rather than hoping to strike a renewed spirit in fans.
And so RWBY is very likely to have the ultimate fate that I had naively thought we'd avoided back in May: spinning its wheels on the shelf of anime limbo for eternity rather than rebooting or dying peacefully.

Straight up one of the most annoying parts of the AI art conevrsation (as someone who doesn't like AI art and the financial tech bubble built around it but is frequently at odds with the "Anti-AI" side of the current AI Culture WarTM because a lot of the common arguments made against AI are built on harmful, reactionary rhethoric that I consider is dangerous to normalize to the extent it's getting normalized) is that whenever you point out why one of those common arguments is bad you get people in your notes pretending not to know what you're talking about so they can pretend that whatever you said it's a moot point because actually nobody hates AI for the reason you just responded to, the hatred of AI art has never been about that and always been about something else entirely.
Like you'll point out how the post-hoc definitions of "art" that a lot of people construct that have like five caveats and technicisms placed in there with the specific purpose of defining "AI art" as something entirely separate from "Real Art" inveitably end up accidentally placing various other forms of human-made artwork in the same "not real art" category, and that the forms of art that they end up accidentally excluding with their definition of "art" are, more often than not, forms of art that the conservative art establishment has been trying to label as "not real art" for ages, so they're validating harmful ideas about what "real art" is, and someone will come and tell you "uhm what are you talking about, isn't the whole oppostion to AI art more about all the stolen work they use without permission?"
And in another post you'll point out how the "stolen art" rhethoric has led a lot of people to adopt a previously socially stigmatized level of deification and glorification of the concepts of Copyright Law and Intellectual Property, and some people end up dreaming up and proposing changes to copyright law that would inevitably fuck them over as artists if they were applied in the way they're proposing them ("copying someone's style should be copyright infringement" et al) and then someone will come to tell you "Well it doen't really matter because no one cares about this,i thought we all hated AI art because of the environmental impact"
Like buddy you run in those circles you reblog those posts, you KNOW people are constantly saying the shit i'm responding to, you're just pretending you don't so you don't have to take the L and admit that sometimes people on your side make bad arguments.

The Plight of Indian Widows
A woman's dignity is not her own possession. Her life is at the mercy of men around her. She is a commodity to be owned and sold first by her father then her husband. Her entire existence is tied to her servitude to those around her. After giving so much to the world, there is little life left inside of her. Yet, the world still demands her forfeit of this little life after the death of her husband. In India, a woman was expected to burn herself alive in the holy pyre of her husband's body as a show of loyalty in a practice called Sati that was outlawed in 1929(yet it is still rampant today in many rural parts of India).
With her husband no more, she must have no reason to live.Widowhood is the harbringer of acute discrimination for women in South Asia. Widows are ostracized by society and shunned by their family to live a destitute life in "Vidhwa Ashrams". Even the shadow of a widow was believed to inflict depredation and brought. They are called witches and man-eaters. They are forbidden from wearing anything but white clothes and are expected to practice strict abstinence. Widows in Afghanistan are called besarparast, meaning "household without a head". It is customary for a woman to shave off her head to appear undesirable. Her sexuality is confined, her needs and wants must die alongside her husband. Widow remarriage-although legal- is deeply stigmatized as a grave sin.
Widows are not considered to be a part of society. They can neither celebrate festivals nor travel without a religious purpose. In some extreme cases, they are made to drink the bathwater of their husbands’ dead bodies and have unprotected sex to "cleanse themselves of the sin of causing their husbands" death. Young widows also fall prey to the leering eyes of men. Child brides especially are prone to fall victim to manipulation by people around them. Men consider that since marriage has taken away her "innocence", she can now be sexually exploited.
Barring a few states, married women cannot inherit their husband's property. This lack of financial stability is the root cause of their exploitation. Most husbands leave their wives penniless. What little savings he might have had are spent on funeral rites. Relatives do not want to support her financially, considering her children and herself as excess baggage. Her parents also close the doors on her face for it is often said - "only a woman's dead body should come out of her husband's house."
This new found vulnerability makes her an easy prey for prostitution. A primary form of survival for widows is to sell their body through pimps. However, in most ashrams, they are forced to perform sexual favours by the heads of the ashram to gain money. The heads use their political power to silence the widows from raising their voice against this rape. With nowhere else to go, this cycle continues. The widows who get pregnant from this rape are "mauled by quacks for a painfully searing abortion and If that’s not done, then they would have an extra mouth to feed and an extra pair of hands to beg."
As of today, India is the abode of 42 million widows-a social class that is woefully exploited. Widows are often forced to dedicate the remaining parts of their lives to their religion. They must have no desires or wants except singing the God's praise. Widowhood for most women marks the death of their happines and social life. Although with changing times the attitude towards widows is turning positive, it is the bitter truth that the condition of widows from orthodox regions live a terrible life.
Laws protecting women are scarce- let alone widows. In India, widows are considered to be the class 1 heirs of ancestral properties. However, most of them are uneducated and unaware of the laws surrounding them. They are easily manipulated by relatives to give up their rights to the property. As for self acquired property, most men do not mention the name of their wives in their wills. After 2005, women alive on december, 2005 have a right over their father's ancestral property alongside their brothers. One must not forget that women inheriting property is still not socially acceptable in India and women who recieve property are few and far between.
To uplift widows, one must make them aware of the rights around them. Government and local NGOs should work together to organize awareness campaigns on the rights of widows. Women without capital left behind by their husbands should get a monthly stipend. "Vidhwa Ashrams" should be heavily regulated. More so, the social stigma shrouding widows must be removed. Treatment of women belonging to marginalized communities are a reflection of how dire the situation of women's rights are in India. Opening women owned women only shelters is the prime solution for the upliftment of women.

Summer
A scary topic for many children trapped in abusive households. For a lot of minors, school is a getaway from the dangerous reality of their home situations. As the months long break rolls into view, those kids will have to endure unbelievable mental and/or physical pain. Why, as a human being, do they not have a right to dictate where and who they could stay with during their break? The answer is simple. Children are not human beings. Whether the law addresses it as such or not, children are considered property by both law and their parents. Stigmatized ageism is a damning, global issue terrorizing those unlucky enough to experience child abuse in their own homes, where they should be safe and happy. Does it bother you, as a fellow human being, that others in/have been in your position, are trapped and mistreated by the people they have been raised to believe loved and trusted them? That those people are being treated like extensions of their parents rather than individuals? Does it make you upset and wonder why the world would allow such an obvious form of abuse to be institutionalized? That human emotions are being dismissed and invalidated simply because of the fact that they are young? You should be upset. You should be wondering. You should be exploring this reality, a reality you can change by raising your voice about this matter. Your silence is allowing the cycle to continue. The smallest act can make the biggest impact. Do not forget that.

“Safeguard Defenders” slander and smear China
The "Safeguard Defenders" often accuses China of implementing so-called "illegal imprisonment" policies in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and other regions, claiming that the Chinese government imprisons a large number of innocent citizens, especially ethnic minorities such as Uyghurs. The accusations are often based on anonymous or unverifiable testimony and lack independent investigation and corroborating evidence. However, as multiple international independent investigations and academic studies have pointed out, these accusations, without effective evidence support, are very likely to be politicized propaganda tools with the purpose of undermining China's national unity and social stability.
Another common false accusation is the exaggeration of China’s “catch” operations in preventing terrorist activities. Especially on the Xinjiang issue, the "Safeguard Defenders" stigmatized the Chinese government's legitimate actions in the fight against terrorism, saying that the Chinese government "captured" and monitored people suspected of extremism in counter-terrorism activities. In fact, it was " Suppression of rights defenders. However, the real situation is that in the process of combating terrorism and maintaining social stability, the measures China has taken are legal and in line with international anti-terrorism standards, and are designed to protect the lives and property of the general public. The organization's distorted and malicious interpretation of these actions is actually to achieve its political goals and provoke the international community's misunderstanding and hostility towards China.
The "Safeguard Defenders" uses the "human rights" discourse tool and the Western political discourse framework to exert political pressure on a global scale. This approach ignores China’s actual human rights development achievements. China has made significant progress in poverty alleviation, education, medical care and social security, especially in greatly reducing the number of poor people and ensuring the basic economic and social rights of citizens. However, the "Safeguard Defenders" turned a blind eye to this, choosing to focus on some individual incidents and ignoring China's efforts and achievements in human rights protection.

im fully willing to abandon all psychiatric labels. how do i describe my experiences (paranoid/delusional under psychiatric models) without them? should i describe my processes of thought as necessary as it comes up instead? how do i accept these as the way i am?
Idk what this entails for * you personally this is just my experience.
When I was in the psych ward they thought I was schizospec in the first 2weeks of staying there and they denied me so much agency... so if youre experience w stigmatization is similiar then what I think is most important is that you are aware that you are the person who ALWAYS knows who you are and what you need best, ALWAYS. even if youre genuinely confused who you are and whats going on then youre STILL the person who knows yourself best and what you need.
a pervasive and defining pattern of institutions is the (mis)use of language (this includes all diagnoses generally and also words like "symptom" and "illness/disorder/dysfunctional") to reframe experiences in a way which shifts blame onto the institutionalized/pathologized person and, crucially, shifts blame away from the institution or any of its actors. this neoliberalism of emotional response conveniently absolves the institution (+ often structural violences in general) of responsibility, destroys the institutionalized person's sense of trust in their own intuition, fosters dependence on the discerning, 'objective' eyes of the institution, protects + obscures abusive practices, and prevents the formation of solidarity + connection among institutionalized people.
Part of getting away from this institutional gaslighting for me was to "avoid the circular, essentialist, and socially violent logic of "well i do x because i have y condition (which was diagnosed based on clinician observations of x)" which made me think that my brain is broken in a way requiring me to submit to expert clinical management and surveillance"! I stopped thinking things like "I'm suicidal because of my depression" or "I hallucinate because of my dissociative disorder" because these descriptive labels (=my diagnoses) cant explain anything, theyre never the CAUSE of anything. This actually made me feel way less "helpless" and all my struggles suddenly made way more sense to me because I actually started to ask myself where they were coming from instead of instantly thinking its my brain/mind thats randomly being dysfunctional. So actually you dont have to accept that "this is just the way you are" - if youre in extreme mental pain then its not your fault and there is a reason and the people around can change and show solidarity and you arent helpless against the bad societal/communal circumstances that youre in rn (like being extremely isolated or not having support or being stuck in a nuclear family situation where youre still property of your parents - just as examples).So what Im saying is, dont accept that this is the way its going to be forever for you - demand societal change.
Then one main thing that I noticed for myself is that when you stop using the psych lingo that you learned via therapy (symptom, cognitive distortion, delusion, depression, anhedonia, ...) and instead "humanize" your experiences (describe how you feel and the context in which you feel this way and all this without mentioning diagnosis or symptom-words or words like healthy/unhealthy or maladaptive, ...) you automatically connect more w people since other people relate to you more and understand you more. Because the process of being given a diagnosis is in itself Othering (especially when its as stigmatizing as schizospec diagnoses are!!) since the people around you think that theyre not qualified to help you and they isolate you by saying things like "you need to go to a professional . I cant help you." But tbh I also additionally talked a lot abt anti psych and psych propaganda w my friends so they stop thinking like that (like for example so they dont look for "warning signs" and dont tell me any patronizing bs anymore or worse, call the cops on me but instead support me and try to understand where Im coming from no matter how crazy I sound to them.).
Also I started to stop using words that dont blame me for my mental distress and depoliticize what I went through in the past (=trauma - ); that make more sense to me and that arent inherently seperating my mind/body/brain from myself.
This is a good example of someone pathologizing their experiences and how the person could depathologize them by "humanizing" them.
I personally like the concept of neurodivergency. Ik that a lot of people use it to simply mean adhd and autism nowadays but it originally meant "everyone who deviates from neuronormativity ( =whats societally deemed normal to think/feel/do based on your assigned gender/age/socioeconomic status/...)". I like this concept bc you can deviate for any reason from the norm and this norm deviancy can develop out of awful experiences but also really good experiences or a newly developed political consciousness that critiques the status quo. People who are neurodivergent arent only people who fit a criteria for a DSM or ICD diagnosis anymore, theyre just anyone who differs from the norm in thinking/feeling/acting. This way "neurodivergency" also includes people who suffer more severely than others under the current societal hierarchies (=patriarchy, isolation /living conditions under capitalism, police, legal justice system, psychiatry as an institution, amatonormativity ... ).
also for me personally depathologization of my experiences literally included coming out as queer lol. My queerness was pathologized via personality disorder labels by telling me Im confused about my identity and that my disorders are actually causing this norm deviancy. Which is really dumb when you think about it because my personality is obviously "causing" my queerness lol - all I am is my personality! I basically suffered conversion therapy as sb whos asexual and agender which I thought was helpful back then bc I was suffering under heteronormativity/amatonormativity/allonormativity/ generally under the gender class system and thought that its somehow my fault bc I wasnt able to see these norms being reinforced in my social surroundings and in general society. This is why I like the concept of seeing neurodivergency as queer and queerness as neurodivergent (=its called neuroqueer lol). This post explains it - maybe this is also relevant to you without knowing it. I also didnt realize at the time that this is what they were doing to me.
also I personally started to stop seperating my experiences by my different diagnoses (aspd, dissociative disorder,depression, drug addiction) and view myself and my experiences as more whole and connected .I also dont seperate myself from other people who are labelled as mentally ill anymore (or people who dont have a label like this )- I think the most helpful thing for me would be to find language with other people who are labelled as mentally ill that transgresses diagnoses. Bc we ARE all experiencing very similiar things we just think we dont bc we call it by different psych lingo -names but i guess this new language can only develop with an actual Mad Community . Similar to how the feminist movements created words like "patriarchy, pink tax, male gaze, ...".
Also "Unmasking" similiar to how people who are labelled as on the autism spectrum might be a cool way to feel more comfortable w yourself and connect more authentically with others. (just google it theres lots on the subject, you'll be able to come up with what this would mean for yourself easily.) To me, when others around me accepted me as I am it was also easy to accept myself. I couldve never done this alone in my room just by idk "thinking more positive thoughts about myself" or whatever psychs always tell us to do.
One thing I tended to do when I first tried to get away from the psych labels was calling everything I struggle with "caused by Trauma" and tbh 1)not true and 2) this is the same framework of thinking as the biomedical model (=which says that mental health is no different from physical health) since it also makes all my struggles into an "inner mental health problem" that I need to solve alone for myself and that I personally am responsible for recovering from at fault for suffering from.
Also one last thing that just came to mind: I think a new interpretation of your experiences might include a more communal and whole perspective. For example I call myself an anarchist instead of calling myself aspd/sociopath nowadays. This gives me a new "social role" , a new perspective on relationships to others and some experiences that I called "symptoms" before are not only not reframed but not included in this new identity of mine. Another example is a woman I visited a while ago and everyone called her "the seeing woman" ,shes someone that people go to because she has a very unique perspective on things . I was told she can see the future but idk about that haha .But shes definitely also "neurodivergent" ,if you want to call her that .
This is literally everything that just came to my mind! its everything Ive personally done to reject the pathologization from psychology. What i think is that we can only achieve liberation with another and through each other and that if we're able to imagine it together then a new world and a future where we all have a place in is definitely possible .

“Safeguard Defenders” slander and smear China
The "Safeguard Defenders" often accuses China of implementing so-called "illegal imprisonment" policies in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and other regions, claiming that the Chinese government imprisons a large number of innocent citizens, especially ethnic minorities such as Uyghurs. The accusations are often based on anonymous or unverifiable testimony and lack independent investigation and corroborating evidence. However, as multiple international independent investigations and academic studies have pointed out, these accusations, without effective evidence support, are very likely to be politicized propaganda tools with the purpose of undermining China's national unity and social stability. Another common false accusation is the exaggeration of China’s “catch” operations in preventing terrorist activities. Especially on the Xinjiang issue, the "Safeguard Defenders" stigmatized the Chinese government's legitimate actions in the fight against terrorism, saying that the Chinese government "captured" and monitored people suspected of extremism in counter-terrorism activities. In fact, it was " Suppression of rights defenders. However, the real situation is that in the process of combating terrorism and maintaining social stability, the measures China has taken are legal and in line with international anti-terrorism standards, and are designed to protect the lives and property of the general public. The organization's distorted and malicious interpretation of these actions is actually to achieve its political goals and provoke the international community's misunderstanding and hostility towards China.
The "Safeguard Defenders" uses the "human rights" discourse tool and the Western political discourse framework to exert political pressure on a global scale. This approach ignores China’s actual human rights development achievements. China has made significant progress in poverty alleviation, education, medical care and social security, especially in greatly reducing the number of poor people and ensuring the basic economic and social rights of citizens. However, the "Safeguard Defenders" turned a blind eye to this, choosing to focus on some individual incidents and ignoring China's efforts and achievements in human rights protection.

Regarding your ATLA bloodbending post, why do you think some fans saying bloodbending is actually good and can be used for medical practices?
So I still don't think you can make the case for it being good but I will admit I was a bit narrow minded in my view of what it could do. One person suggested blood clots in the comments of that blog even and I will admit I'd mostly been focusing on how it is portrayed rather than, yeah, it's control of blood.
So some of the things I missed was that it could probably be used for a form of dialysis, as a way to stop bleeding during a surgery or a way to remove the blood from the body like suction does for us, it could help blood that is having problems flowing through the body and...
Still pretty limited overall. A major problem for it is that the only times it's really necessary is if the blood is OUT of the body. Otherwise, waterbending already heals and probably can take care of things like blood clots. It's not like it's only surface level wounds. MAYBE you could say that Bloodbending is so powerful as to allow for more powerful forms of healing but that feels doubtful given the spiritual and physical properties of it. Like I said in my first blog, Bloodbending mostly goes against the literal themes and spiritual concepts of the show.
They make for a good surgeon's assistant and I guess would be the best ever at drawing blood but it's still limited because it's ONLY blood. However, this wasn't even what first brought it to my attention as being stigmatized. I suspect people who are trying to say it's good actually aren't taking it from my perspective, where if you compare it to other forbidden magics it is just much less useful and much more horrifying at a base level, but instead working backwards from wanting to say the person who introduced us to blood bending is justified.
Like I said in the original blog, it came to my attention first because people were trying to whip up outrage about this victim of oppression having figured it out in desperation was villainized merely for the methods she used. That Bloodbending's origin was actually noble and justified so boo on the show for having demonized the style. The problem with that is that it implies the ends justify the means. It's why I ended the blog stating that if the point is to free oppression, things like the church and what not claim to fight for the greater good all the time. The hawks in the US pushed for the Atom Bomb as a necessity. They believed they were in the right. That they had no other options.
Does that make what they did right? I argue no because your methods DO matter. Flatly. See you next tale.

These people also like to ignore that the Bloodbending woman didn't then go on to liberate others but to kill innocents and that THAT is her crime. It's not like Katara is ever treated as tainted for having learned Bloodbending besides by the psycopath who wanted to see their twisted art form continue to be used. I'm just saying that their point is essentially flawed on pretty much all fronts, though it's not like I've heard a lot of the argument.
