chuuya is a starfish sleeper and dazai is a fetal position sleeper but also absolutely needs to wrap himself around smth so this is how they sleep.
also chuuya’s def a heavy sleeper who snores when he’s really exhausted but dazai is a light sleeper and he probably trained himself to be as quiet as possible or smth (crazy ass dude) he’s also an insomniac in my head. chuuya usually lays awake in bed until he can tell dazai’s asleep before he lets himself sleep js so he can try to force dazai into getting some rest. obv this doesn’t always work (sometimes chuuya js passes out) so when they’re both restless they’ll go onto the roof of chuuya’s apartment complex and share cigarettes and listen to music (shared wired earbuds ofc). their shared playlist goes between peppy bright kpop (think cheer up by twice) to like the most depressing song you’ve ever heard to some video game soundtracks (ocarina of time opening, fuckass coconut mall, probably half the undertale soundtrack is there) to literally anything you can think of. trust me the playlist is like 5k songs they’ve js collected over the years. special mention to kamisama by miyuna bcuz i think chuuya would like it. also sticker by nct 127 is on there. sometimes they’ll talk usually i think they js like to bask in each other’s presences’. sometimes they only stay up there for an hour or so and head back to try and sleep but sometimes they’ll js stay up there all night or chuuya will fall asleep and dazai will carry him back and tuck him in.
Guys share ur domestic skk headcanons with me rn bc im in a life and death situation and only knowing more domestic skk headcanons can save me!! Trust!!!!!
#this was not meant to be this long#i was js typing and i blinked and we were here#sticker by nct 127 is actually a good song but only if you get it#my brother looked at me like i was crazy when i showed it to him#i also think oh death by sugr is on the playlist#this js turned into me yapping about songs i like with soukoku#side note i think dazai and chuuya both don’t move that much in their sleep#they’re both too tired to do so#soukoku#skk#bsd headcanons

So you wanna get into NCT, eh?
Part 3 - NCT 127 - More MVs and Social Media Links
Oh hey I'm finally back. It's been more than a day but life happens and it's only been like two days... or so? (it's been three) but let's get back into this!
So last time we covered a little bit about the members of the group and then I linked some MVs. I realised something I could have done there was link some social media accounts so let's do that!
There are general accounts for NCT on most of the big social media services such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. There are also accounts for all of the subgroups, so NCT 127 does have their own accounts on all of those as well. I feel like the Youtube content deserves its own post so I'll get to that but 127 does have a Youtube channel as well.
The individual members share things like the Twitter and Instagram accounts on and off, taking turns sometimes to post on there, tho most posts are from the company. Facebook gets posts from the company and not from individuals very often. The boys do all have their own Instagram accounts tho, and they also all use Bubble to varying degrees, which is an app which a lot of kpop groups use where fans can pay to access special posts from idols that include text posts, pictures, voice recordings, etc. I have never been a Bubble user, but I follow everyone on Instagram so here's all of those:
Taeil | Taeyong | Johnny | Yuta | Doyoung | Jaehyun | Winwin | Jungwoo | Mark | Haechan
You can use those to become more familiar with the members and see some of the nonsense they get up to. Some of them post often and some post almost never so your mileage may vary with them as a tool, but I'm a sucker for personal social media accounts so I'm clearly following those all.
It's also worth throwing out there since I skipped talking about positions last time that Taeyong is the leader of both NCT 127 and also of NCT in general. He's also a main rapper, main dancer, visual, center, helps write and produce music and has since The 7th Sense was released, etc etc, you name it, he's probably done the thing. He's ridiculously talented, basically. (They all are.) I could list everyone's positions but there's tons of wiki pages and etc with those kinds of lists and I find them to be less helpful when you have a group like NCT where everyone kinda does everything a lot of the time and has multiple talents and jobs since the rappers might be singing or the vocalists might be rapping depending on the song and literally everyone is a visual etc. But that's part of why you might be noticing that Taeyong is front and center like... a lot. Very often. He's recognisable and has a distinctive voice and being the leader is a good extra excuse to focus on him.
Anyway, let's get back to the music! I somehow managed to come up with ten more videos to link to hit the max per post so you're getting another full variety tasting of 127's style and range with a special treat at the end.
youtube
Favorite (Oct 25, 2021) was the lead single from the repackage of Sticker and was not quite as divisive as Sticker but still a bit weird. Released right before Halloween, there's a whole vampire concept going on (GREAT) and the MV and live stage performances all have a weird electronic dance break 2 1/2 minutes in (BAD) that I am PLEASED TO TELL YOU is not part of the song on the actual album. The first time I watched the MV it threw me for such a hard loop that I almost hated disliked the song but when I listened to the album later on spotify I was like "wait it's gone!!!! it was all just a bad dream!!!" and I try to forget it until I do something like watch the MV to make a post like this.
youtube
We're gonna mix in some of 127's Japanese releases today starting with their first one, Chain (May 8, 2018) off their first Japanese mini album. Despite NCT's initial plan to have groups based in different countries and markets, they are still now in early 2024 only ABOUT to have their first Japan-centric subunit debut, which means that they've just been having 127 (and Dream) release some stuff in Japanese in the meantime. It helps that they have a Japanese member. Anyway Chain is just a great song so here it is.
youtube
gimme gimme (Feb 15, 2021) suffers a little from the eternal problem of kpop songs even in primarily Japanese having some.... wild? English lyrics (spicy disease? dead clowns? who wrote these lyrics? why did their native English speakers go along with this?) but despite the nonsense it's a catchy, mesmerizing earworm of a song with a tight MV with a lot of neat cuts and transitions and I have watched it VERY MANY times. I love it. Spicy disease and all.
youtube
In the first main NCT intro post I included WayV's version of Regular (October 8, 2018) and linked both this and the Korean version. I was going to include the Korean version and just link the English here since the Korean one is the one that I personally listen to the most, but then I noticed that the English version has like 66 million more views so I decided to reverse that and you get the English one. Anyway. All versions of Regular are great and the English version has some great weird lyrics too ("I be walking with the cheese that's the queso" is like... ultimate. Incredible. A+. How did Jaehyun record that without laughing? Legendary.). It's also, with Simon Says, one of the only MVs that has all ten members of NCT 127. It also has a CGI tiger, shiny cars, rockets going off, Winwin jumping off a building, there's just a lot going on.
youtube
Sliding back to Japan for a minute, I feel like I should include Wakey Wakey (March 18, 2019). I almost forget this song exists sometimes and I think it's because I just want to block out having seen the absolutely terrible wig they put on Johnny for this MV. Seriously why? The song itself is solidly in the weird but also very catchy lane that 127 does so well but I just keep thinking about the wig. Johnny had some long extensions for NCT 2020 that looked great on him, but this wig was just not it. My eyes are drawn to it every time he's on screen. I need to put this into my regular listening-only playlists and let my brain block that wig out the way I forget the dance break in Favorite exists.
youtube
127 started 2023 off with Ay-Yo (Jan 30, 2023) which was the (somewhat delayed) repackage of 2 Baddies, which we'll get to in a moment. I wasn't sure what to think of Ay-Yo at first but it has definitely grown on me despite having veered back into some questionable hair territory mainly for Taeyong (and I say that as a grown up late 90s punk kid who thought giant hair spikes were cool). The MV has some absolutely wild visuals mixed in, and the song is definitely outside of the realm of standard kpop releases even if it's not as weird as some others like Sticker. It's solid.
youtube
Okay so. Like. I honestly didn't really pay enough attention to the general reactions to 2 Baddies (Sep 15, 2022) to tell you how divisive this song was to most people, but it split one of my group chats VERY strongly and one of my friends has refused to listen to any 127 releases since then because she hates this song so much. I tried to get her with Fact Check at the very least and she's so anti this song that she still refused and I may have lost her on 127 altogether 🤣 It's mainly the chorus that she dislikes, and I'm a little back and forth on it myself sometimes honestly but also I have absolutely BLASTED this song while driving down the highway so it feels kinda like a guilty pleasure song sometimes. If you ignore the chorus the other parts of the song are so goooooooood and no one can deny that the last part of the bridge slaps. Plus there's a whole lot of shirtless Johnny and Yuta which you can never go wrong with.
youtube
Touch (Mar 13, 2018) is a little off from the style of kpop that I listen to regularly since it's a bit more in the bubbly poppy side of things that I don't always go for but the vibes are immaculate and everyone looks so happy in the MV and there's fuzzy sweaters and everyone smiles so much? It's hard to not love it. It's fluff and cheery and delightful.
youtube
I don't know if SM actually started the "track video" trend (short MVs that have an edited, cut down version of a song so they cost less to produce than a full MV- Lemonade is 3:10 on the Sticker/Favorite album, but this track video is 2:01 for instance) but they love doing them with NCT, and despite Lemonade (Sep 9, 2021) definitely deserving a full MV, since it wasn't the lead single it didn't get one but it did at least get a track video and was performed a lot on the music shows when they were promoting Sticker. It's catchy and has some clever work in the full version lyrics that involve titles of other NCT 127 songs and I've listened to it as much as or possibly more than Sticker.
youtube
I've covered all of the lead singles and there ARE some other track videos or special release songs like the recent Be There For Me that I could be using the last slot for but you know what? We're gonna go fully off the expected path and include Let's Shut Up & Dance (Feb 21, 2019) instead because it's wild and fun. 127 doesn't do much besides sing part of the chorus and do a bunch of dancing in this (on the ceiling? on the walls? in an alley?) but like. Lay is here too and the song is SO fun and an absolute bop so that's what we're closing this post out with.
So that wraps the NCT 127 music videos! I'm thinking the next post and the last of the 127 centric ones will be a guide to some of their Youtube content, since there's a whole lot, and that'll kinda set up expectations for the posts about Dream and WayV as well when we get to them. I think after I get through the main posts of MVs and content for all of the sub-units that I might do some special posts of performance videos for songs that don't have MVs just to get some of those out there, or I might just post a bunch of links to them. We'll see how I'm feeling and if my audience of like two or three people has any kind of preference (that's you, hey, yeah you, lemme know what you want from me).
This post is the third in a series of posts introducing new fans to NCT in a way that makes sense, by getting familiar with one subgroup at a time before moving on to the next. Linked down at the bottom is the intro post, and the rest will be linked as they're added.
Dedicated as ever to @catatonicrainbow and @poetry-protest-pornography 💖

NCT 127 - Sticker
I really don’t know what to think about this album as a whole. Wikipedia tells me that it won a daesang at AAA, and it charted incredibly well. The title track was just SO weird, and not really in a good way. I know the incominggggg producer from some other songs, and this was definitely not my favorite work of his. The album managed to feel kind of empty to me, kind of like the fromis_9 album I listened to a couple days ago. But at the same time, I liked several songs, I liked their sounds and the neat extras that they did. The album was certainly cohesive, and the songs were distinct, so … I dunno why I didn’t really vibe with it as a whole. Maybe I’m just not in the mood. Average rating is 7.3, which I think is fair. There were some very good songs in here, many of which I’ll be adding to my playlist, but the album as a whole felt like it didn’t do enough for me. It is largely hip hop influenced, so maybe I’m missing some lyrical nuance, but I’ve gotta judge musically. That said, this is the second ever boy group album I’ve listened to, after Don’t Mess Up My Tempo (6.9), and I definitely did prefer this one, both in the rating and in actuality.
- Sticker
Very curious samples, as expected from NCT
Incomingggg
This MV feels very black mamba so far
Haha and then the piano just casually walks into it
I’m so confused
Like it’s original, sure, but I don’t get it yet.
Yeah, it’s no Cherry Bomb. Also I should mention that Cherry Bomb is the only NCT song I know
Oh okay well this section is different at least
I’m just not convinced, that wasn’t enough to really tie it together
7/10
Lemonade
This definitely feels more cohesive than the previous song
I notice the bass much more
I also really really like the vocalist’s tone hear, low and sultry
And now we build
Antidrop
Lol did he just skrrt?
He totally did haha
Yeah I thin OMG he just said Cherry Bomb ily
Yeahhh this is good
8/10, good, solid, I like it
Breakfast
Oh okay, nice and thicc bass, I like the beat
Yeah, house music, I do like house music
I dunno. It’s good, I don’t know if it does enough for me
Mmm I dunno what changed but I love the end here
8/10
Focus
And now our voices are high and light
This definitely feels like the least … intense of the songs so far
Like all the floaty and airy vocals
The background music is still Thicc and Bassy though
Except whatever that synth is doing the harmonies, that’s a cool sound
Nice little ad libs
Yeah I hear these vocal harmonies, don’t think I don’t
8/10
The Rainy Night
Well, we start with piano and vocalizations, as we’d expect
Haha what is this rnb slow jam bullshit, this isn’t the NCT we know and love
(I actually quite like this to be clear)
Actually this feels kind of Exo to me
8/10, very pretty, well produced
Far
What does this song remind me of?
This song totally reminds me of something
I love the vocal colors in the pre-chorus
I dunno though, again, I just want more out of this song. I feel like they’re relying a lot on their sound
Okay, the nananana part is nice, much needed
Ah, here we are, the SM bridge
7/10
Bring The Noize
No real comments so far, this is … kind of boring, musically
Even the pre-chorus vwooooom is kind of meh
Yeah, the chorus sure does noise
Damn even the SM bridge is kind of a letdown
I guess his low sexy voice is low and sexy
5/10, but don’t get me wrong. I think this song does what they want it to do perfectly, I just don’t like what they’re trying to do
Magic Carpet Ride
Haha and now we get some mellow electric piano stuff
I’m still not totally convinced
Also: in terms of the album so far, I like what they’re going for. It’s artsy, but cohesive, and that’s what we want in an album
7/10, good, nothing special
Road Trip
Haha and now we’re proper poppy
I dunno though, like I think Exo would do this song better for some reason
Not that NCT do it poorly, it’s just … kind of bland?
7/10
Dreamer
Trombone! A whole brass section, wow
I’ll tell you what, if nothing else, they’re trying to keep the album interesting all the way through
I do appreciate these vocal harmonies here, or the singing with rapping behind it, I dunno what it is
The chorus might be better if it wasn’t a group chorus
I’m reminded of Sweet Summer Day for some reason
7/10
Promise You
Woahh hear this bass in the background?
They’re definitely making it feel all epic like with those saws
And I love the intensity of the synth in the foreground
8/10

I saw that you wanted to do the “send me a K-pop group” thingy and I wanna ask you about NCT 🥸
omg yes thank u!! i love nct <33
✦ my first bias: taeyong and haechan ✦ my current bias(es): i've given up on having set biases honestly. that being said. taeil i love his voice so much ✦ my album and/or era ranking (or favorite of each) i think my first cb was resonance pt 2 but i wasnt paying attention to promo as a dedicated fan just a veeery casual listener/watcher! so i can't really rank eras. but here r my favorite albums in general order (bc to get any more granular with it would take so much work and thinking): - 2 baddies - nct 2018 empathy - universe - STICKER (sticker i love you sticker my bff sticker. i was and still am so in awe of the vegas strip neon rhinestone cowboy aesthetic for that mv. changed the timeline) - awaken the world - hello future ✦ how i got into them: in 2020 i started listening to kpop (my first group was mamamoo jhcxvahjsbkdjx) and i think cherry bomb was my first nct song! several of their music videos were on this gigantic playlist someone made for me in 2021 including chewing gum and cherry bomb and simon says and kick back. i was super into p.c. music and hyperpop in 2019/20/21 so 127 title tracks were perfect for me i was having such a good timeeee. i think this was the moment i actually became a fan, april 2021: "just saw cherry bomb I'm a changed person no Gender... only cherry bomb" i was so right for that honestly ✦ which member would be my best friend: doyoung? he seems chill. idk really. but actually jungwoo blew me a kiss at the concert we have a connectionnn /j ✦ something i associate with them (or with a bias/any member): cherry bomb custom camo print. also 'skrrt'. and i associate butterflies with taeil lol
thank u for the ask!! <33
#he did actually blow me a kiss after i gave him one though fun fact about my life. little anecdote about me that i will hang on to <3#johnny too i think?#asks#ask games#m#nct

⋆ ┊ THE NCT SHOW: 시티명랑운둥회 ┊⋆
➺ EP. 2
yanna hanging with renjun and xiaojun on the bean bag chairs while she’s giggling at how her boyfriend apologized to the other for yelling at him during “cherry ball”. cute.
literally skips over towards haechan and pushes his butt to the side, asking for kimchi jjigae.
once taeyong was done rolling up the huge cotton candy, he started looking for yanna and jaehyun pointed at the girl who was back on the bean bag chairs.
he sat next to her and shared, but immediately doubted her after she pulled a piece once.
taeyong: did you eat lunch? i don’t think you did.
yanna literally pointing at mark, doyoung, renjun and jaemin’s table, “did i or did i not eat?”
mark, in the middle of eating chicken: she did, hyung.
then there’s jaemin and renjun saying “no” as a joke.
in the end, taeyong still shares the cotton candy with her.
“i miss jisungie.”
work it! i wanna see you dance dance
yanna was pulled by both haechan and jeno to sit by them, literally in the middle of the two as her head leaned on haechan’s shoulder and her leg was on jeno’s lap.
doyoung mentioned her as one of the competitors for the segment and she mumbled a small “i don’t want it..”
but for some reason, haechan would pull her up in every song while she glares at jeno who she’s been pulling too but the boy’s too strong.
the only time she didn’t come with haechan was during “next level” and “feel the rhythm”.
the way her, haechan and jeno ate up “replay”, there was even a close up of renjun proudly smiling.
when haechan and xiaojun battled it out, she sat on the table under the umbrella chenle was on and cheered there.
“aigoo~ you did great, baby”, she cooed towards haechan who came back to his place defeated.
kick kick kick kick kick ‘em back
they were asked to play again by haechan to decide which team yanna will be on, but the white team wouldn’t let her go.
literally both mark and chenle holding her arms while jaemin just stands and blocks everyone from seeing her along with taeyong who keeps claiming yanna was resting.
in the end, the blue team said it was fine as long as she’s with them on the next one.
“you just want me to shove them because you know i would”, she complained towards the members and yuta was like “you’ll do well, ae-cha”
but also mark and chenle claiming they just didn’t want her to leave their side
sungchan taunted her once saying if she comes out, he’ll come out. but then he noticed renjun beside him and jokingly got scared.
yanna doesn’t condone violence but the game was too funny and she enjoyed yelling out cheers for the white team members.
“yutaro! yutaro! yutaro!”
she really wanted to play and was immediately pulled by jungwoo when they realized taeil and doyoung were playing.
the ‘yanna in nct 127’ agenda came up again because of the battle, led by jaehyun saying “oh, uri ilichil”.
in the end, the white team won and she immediately hugged them.
stay close to me like a sticker
right after the last game ended, jaehyun literally carried her towards their team while sungchan covered her despite it already being agreed on that she’ll be in theirs.
“this is bad for you, though. i added more people to the team”, she worriedly said.
but almost all of them were like “no, it’s fine”
jaehyun: yanna, i could hold you in one hand don’t worry too much
and in the fourth round, that actually came true since he had to carry her on his side while they tried to keep their position.
she cheered as they won, hugging taeil as haechan mumbled that they were cute.
announcing of winners
doyoung said that yanna was going to get a beef set since she worked hard for both teams and she immediately showed a heart to him.
as she grabbed one, she went close to the camera and said “jisungie! we’ll have a good meal.” renjun stood next to her and pointed at his set as well and have thumbs up, mouthing “jisungie”.
hendery: what a happy family.
chenle: i’m going home with yanna today!
“good job, hyung~”, as soon as taeyong received his best cheerer award.
when asked about her message/thoughts about the field day, she only flashed a heart.
but then they asked her again and she sighed before eventually talking.
“as always, it’s tiring everytime i’m with the members. but it was fun and even though it’s hot, it was refreshing to be with everybody here.”

imma be honest - other than exo and got7 (mostly the 3rd gen bg's) boy groups nowadays aren't really my type. nct used to have an amazing array of songs, so much talent (especially with Mark and taeyong and ten, DONT GET ME STARTWD ON WAYV ARGHHH) but fuckkkk now with their new sound like sticker - it's driving me batshit insane. its just plain not doing for me unfortunately
usually when I hear a song, I prioritise coherence and good grammar, which most songs nowadays don't really have - new jeans, twice and stay c !!!!!!! arghhhh they really hit the nail so well !!!!! ALONG WITH G-IDLE TOO !!! GYU I MISS SOOJIN SO MUCH TBH !!!!! ahhh my kpop era was definitely a little cringy but auahahahah there were so many good memories there! 💗
waaaaah i agree with you on basically everything here wow ! i can't say much for got7 since i've never really taken the time to listen to their stuff, but exo reallyy has a superior discography idc what anybody says ! i've seen ppl compare them to bts and other groups and i'm always just like ? ? no hate to bts ! their older stuff is good ngl, but exo are literally on a league of their own lmao, there's no other way to put it yk.
and aaaaah i def get what you mean abt nct ! ! i've been a sticker + 2 baddies enjoyer since day one lmao but i have no problem in admitting that their discography has def seen better days ! ! nct as a whole has been so mismanaged lately it's insane :/ sungchan + shotaro debuted two years ago and are stil unitless. i think they're gonna debut soon in a new unit with the smrookies, but even then idk how much i actually like that idea bc although i really freaking want to see those two finally get under the spotlight, i can't help but wonder if a new unit won't just make everything worst ! mark + haechan haven't stopped since 2020 between dream & 127 schedules, nct 127 went basically one entire year without a comeback and had what ? two weeks of promotions ? once they finally got one ? i'm not even gonna talk about the fact that wayv haven't had any comebacks since early 2021 and we're still waiting to know if they'll continue as 6 or as 7 or what the heck is gonna happen with them in general. it makes me so mad seeing all these guys with so much potential and talent get left behind AND BY SM OF ALL COMPANIES ! you'd think such a big company would be exactly the one to be able to handle such a huge project but ig not.
boy groups in general but specially 4th gen ones i feel like have been leaning sm towards the noise music lane lately and although there's a select few that do it kind of alright, most of them are basically just making fans drift away from them. that's why i think all these girl groups have been doing so well ! their sound is experimental in it's own way and they all have their own vibe, but that just goes to show that you can do something new that will separate you from others while still producing good music. newjeans got where they are bc their sound was something new, (g)-idle try so many concepts and still manage to do amazing every time, ive, le sserafim, stayc ALL OF THEM have something unique that sets them apart but their music is still good and liked by most people, unlike what we've seen with boy groups yk — they'll have something that sets them apart but not for the best of reasons lmao.
kpop has been so insane lately and i honestly wonder why i haven't given up on it completely yet bc this industry is absolutely too much lmao. there's so many gems in it but companies nowadays only care abt money and, maybe without realizing, all they're doing is ruining their groups. we need more good music, not tiktok tunes and challenges AND VERY MUCH NOT US VALIDATION ! although i think it's great that 4th gen is so focused on making kpop a global genre instead of it having such a limited audience, i also think it's so stupid to have topping on the us charts as your main goal. idk maybe i'm wrong for this but it's just what i've been noticing as someone who has kind of been just listening to kpop and looking at it from afar instead of actually being super engrossed in the fandoms yk

who's gonna win
☞ bts. do I need to elaborate? please, don't let me or I'm gonna get cancelled lmao
best dance performance female group
who I think should win
☞ alcohol-free by twice. THE FORMATIONS. what I love the most about groups like twice with a lot of members is the choreographies they can create. this dance is really fun to watch, so easy to learn and it's so refreshing to watch? idk, I'm a fan
who's gonna win
now this is tricky, cause there's a lot of choreographies that may win here... so my guesses are:
☞ alcohol-free by twice, next level by aespa and asap by stayc. what they all have in common is that it's easy to learn and fun to watch. all of these songs went viral and it's impossible for you not to know the dances and not to dance whenever you listen to these songs.
honorable mentions
☞ in the morning by itzy. not a big fan of the choreography nor the song, but there were some interesting moves in the choreography.
artist of the year
who I think should win
☞ lisa or aespa
lisa is getting more and more popular either because of blackpink or because of her solo debut and I'm so happy for her. she really deserves all this. plus, it would be amazing if a solo artist wins artist of the year for the first time!
now, with aespa... do I need to elaborate? they're already making history and they're still rookies, y'all!
who's gonna win
☞ bts
song of the year
who I think should win
☞ next level by aespa. this song was my most played song this year and all the kpop community knows this song, c'mon. you either love or hate it, but it's impossible to not know this song. IT WAS SO ICONIC

Ugh, I've also really lost interest after 2 Baddies. I honestly haven't loved a 127 song since Kick It, Favorite was close.
Even then, I just wish their songs would give me the same feeling songs like Cherry Bomb, Limitless, and Fire Truck gave me. I like both WayV (especially their b-sides) and NCT Dream's music better.
Even though I didn't care for Glitch Mode or Beatbox, Hello Future is seriously one of my favorite k-pop songs of all time. So I know SM has the capacity, I just have 0 clue what their angle is with ilichil a this point.
(I hope it was you that said this lmao)
yes it was me lol
and i agree so much. 127 had a style of music that was so up my alley. i still listen to those three songs religiously. and i know it's not their song but it might as well be--the 7th sense. ugh i couldn't get my fix anywhere else and now i can't even get it from them :') they do still have the occasional bop like highway to heaven, mad dog, favorite etc i even actually liked sticker but generally the songs haven't been hitting the same which is a shame
i haven't checked out the latest releases from wayv but yes dream are still coming out with awesome songs. i actually really like beatbox and to a lesser extent glitch mode, but yes hello future is fucking amazing
i really don't understand who thought 2 baddies was a good song but i feel insane for saying it because it seems like a lot of people like it? like i rarely hear people calling the song out for how weird and cringey it is and it makes me feel insane because am i the only one who sees it??? so this is so validating to me
i'm not expecting 127 to return to the same sound they had before but like give us good songs :'D

Do you have favourite concept among kpop groups cb? The ones that use the concept in depth? Do you have background in fine art btw? My fine art knowledge is not extensive, so the only input that i can get from the concept they did is how the neos look. And I mostly focus on the face, so quite a lot are missed. Is that the reason they’re slacking because most fans just look at their faces anyway like me. The only thing I noticed is kpop style nowadays, are quite the same, they have same cloth silhoutte, same makeup, same hairdo. Pretty boy next to a pretty girl next to another pretty girl next to another pretty boy. Even when the concept is grunge the makeup is still pretty boy. It just ruin the concept for me. They really don’t want to ‘ruin’ the faces much. Honestly, for neos, I think firetruck and limitless era is truly the only neo era, concept-wise. I just saw Taeil’s pic during the firetruck? on tw the other day and wow he actually looks great with the spiky hair. I like neos makeup in firetruck mv but they toned down the makeup for the stage.
I need to think about favourite concepts, I'll return to it with a later post. My knowledge of k-pop pre-NCT is not very extensive, so the overview will be pretty shallow. But I think "a passerby's" opinion has some value as well. New fans don't need to know the history, they see and buy what is of today. And if a casual fan, like me, remembers something, then the team behind the group/MV did a good job of catching attention of a non-fan.
I'm a book illustrator (CG) and I do fine art with traditional media as well (I sold oils, watercolours, even one batic, lol). I've worked at an animation studio and did character design for games, drawn comics, posters, liquor stickers, etc. I tried this and that and settled on just plain illustration (educational books and books for kids, preferebly about animals). I like when there is no discussion with the client/editor, just a given task and "I know better what to do", lol. Saves a lot of brain cells.
I did study the history of art (twice), but I mostly forgot it. Still, as a professional artist I have visual sense and pay attention to a lot of things by habit (colour schemes, proportions, balance, lines, the creativity element, etc).
You answered your own question. The majority of fans are hooked on idols as pretty boys/girls, Koreans especially pay attention to the face first and foremost. 127 once did a black&white photosession with unfiltered skin (pores, scars, acne present). Fans didn't like it. Companies repeat what works, what is safe. Listen to the music producers, how tired they of smaller companies representatives asking them to write "a song like EXO". The producers want to do something new, sell some creative stuff they came up with, challenge themselves, move forward. Regular-Irregular photoalbum was done very well from artistic point of view. It is very atmospheric, very memorable. Fans complained their biases' faces were blurry...
That being said. The fans might not have much of taste, but well done design or art works undetected. A person suddenly starts to cry watching a movie. It's director's job to know how to put a scene in a way that would pull on heart strings, the viewer can be oblivious, not his area of expertise.
Same with k-pop concepts. "Hobgoblin" is a well known example of a concept that almost saved a group (CLC). Almost, because the company didn't cash on the success properly. Dreamcatcher gained popularity emulating j-rock and using the dark lolita aesthetics. Stray Kids catapulted to real fame once they found their over-arching concept with "Back door". How many boys got long hair for the next comeback after the MV? Practically every 4 gen bg.
Back to NCT. As a group it has an extensive lore and well-defined images for all units. Dream is doing well with their "Youth" concept. 127 is responsible for "Neo", but the clothes and concepts sometimes are not neo at all (the topic itself, or the execution).
"Boss" didn't have success originally in Korea, but it was the song that brought a massive number of i-fans. Exactly because the concept was done well. The "soldier" clothes are even copied now by other bgs. It's one of the few MVs with over 100mln views (=non-fans watch it).
Street cool boy fashion is everywhere in k-pop. Even if clothes are well matched and the boys look good in them, the concept is unmemorable.
Oh, wait, right, Jaehyun's cover's popularity. Yes, he is a super attarctive man, but it doesn't help with his other covers and songs. "I like me better" gained millions of views because of the concept "exploring a city with my boyfriend". The MV evokes the feeling of being on a date, being infatuated, having a nice time, it shows the atmosphere, a viewer wants to experience it again and again by repeatedly watching the video.
"90's love" is an example of excellently done concept. Watch any reviewer in their 30-s or 40-s, they are hooked to the sound and to the retro game theme, they get nostalgia. Again, the MV is over 100mln (=non-fans watch it).
I've recently came across Olivia Rodrigo. The team behind her knows how to produce a star. Yes, she has a nice voice (I really like it), but the producers created a very strong "American teenager" image. Her being a latina doesn't even stand in the way. I've never been to US and know of suburbs only from TV, I'm not from a country with cities developed around cars and can't even drive, and still I, a foreigner, "get" the vibe despite the lyrics reflecting none of my own experience. Imagine how easily the targeted audience is hooked. That's what a good MV and well done concept achieves.

(Album Review) Sticker by NCT 127 – Did It Really Stick?
Just last week, South Korean group NCT 127 – numbers referring to the longitude coordinate of Seoul – released their long-awaited, third full-length album, Sticker, which immediately caused an uproar among their fans. Some really loved it, while some really hated it (and were not silent about it). It’s the so-called ‘third album syndrome’, where artists create a record that is so new even for them, that it ends up being polarizing for the fanbase. Sticker might have been just that for 127, as fans are either calling it a masterpiece or a huge disappointment – no in-between.
(Those who are already familiar with NCT 127 may skip the following section. Those who are not – buckle up!)
A beginner’s guide to NCT
For those who may not know, NCT (short for “Neo Culture Technology”) is a boy-group under SM Entertainment. The band has been able to stand out from the KPOP landscape since its very debut, and not only because of their music and talents, but also thanks to their distinctive concept. In a nutshell, the idea is that the group can have an unlimited (or infinite) number of members, as fresh new boys can be added to the lineup at any given time. So far, they have accumulated 23 members, divided into four different subunits – NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV (fixed units), and NCT U (rotational unit).
Each subgroup has its own characteristic sound and/or concept, but there is one thing they have in common – they are all known for going against the current, be it musically or style-wise. In fact, they are considered the pioneers of the takeover on KPOP by ‘noise music’. But what is noise music? Sometimes affectionately called ‘pots and pans’, it is a genre characterized by an expressive use of sound that is not bound to traditional music rules, and encapsulates different chords and types of notes within a song. Nowadays, it has become the main style of the 4th Generation, and NCT were the ones who truly popularized it to the current audience (despite being 3rd Gen).
NCT 127’s approach to noise music is particularly fascinating. Fans describe their sound as ‘NEO’, which is confusing and vague unless you are familiar with their discography – then it makes perfect sense! The group always takes noise music to the next level, yet manages to not make it sound completely nonsensical and (too) migraine-inducing.
Now that you are all up to speed, we can proceed with the actual review!
Sticker – peeling the songs off
After weeks of teasers and hints, NCT 127 finally unveiled to their eager, hungry fans their new single and album, Sticker. This record perfectly encapsulates the cornucopia of sounds that the band is known for, as the songs go from EDM to hip-hop to heart-warming ballads. And of course, the group’s signature sound – the pots and pans are here, louder and stronger than ever. But enough chit-chat for now – let’s go through the album together.
Sticker (8.5/10)
NCT 127 made the bold choice to open the record with the title track, Sticker. Why ‘bold choice’? Well, let’s just say the song is not exactly easily digestible… The melody is a plethora of sounds, yet feels almost empty and subdued to the vocals at the same time. It is a bacchanal of frenzied beats and a dirty bass line accompanied by a shrill flute and piano, with cut-throat raps and beautiful harmonies that are disjointed from the overall melody. Sticker is chaos, but an intentional one, thus its instability manages to captivate you whilst disarming you.
Truth be told, I was a bit taken aback by the song when I first listened to it. Nothing appeared to make sense to my ears, as they seem to be fighting with the beat (and losing) throughout the entire track. But that’s exactly the point. The disconnection between the instrumentals and the singing is clearly done on purpose, perhaps in order to further highlight the members’ impressive vocals, which overpower and outbalance the otherwise empty beat. Or maybe the purpose was just to render the song more impactful, which sure as hell worked – you may not like Sticker, but the song is likely to remain stuck in your head one way or another.
Lemonade (8.3/10)
The second track was teased by the group prior to the official release of the album with a track video, and was immediately loved by fans. This catchy B-side includes an addictive deep bass which makes the perfect beat for both powerful raps and hefty vocals, a signature cocktail in NCT music.
The song is so good that a puzzling question immediately erupted following the release of the record, and spread like wildfire within 127’s fanbase – why wasn’t ‘Lemonade’ the title track? After all, everyone likes it, both fans and non-fans, and it could easily be something you’d expect to find at the top of the charts. In contrast to Sticker, on which everybody seems to be divided. So, wouldn’t it make sense for it to be the title track, given its striking popular appeal?
The answer is no. What some fans don’t seem to understand is that when it comes down to KPOP title tracks (especially nowadays), the issue is not whether it is the best or the catchiest song on the record. The real question is, does it make an impact? Given how new KPOP groups are popping up left and right, managing to leave enough of an impression on the listeners can make or break a career. The title track needs to be instantly stuck in your mind, and for that Sticker fits the bill, as Lemonade sounds just like any other song you could hear in the first 30 minutes of Inkigayo. It’s good, but ordinary. It just doesn’t cut it, and NCT 127 clearly know that.
Breakfast (8/10)
Third song on the record, Breakfast feels reminiscent of past SM boy groups’ releases, namely SHINee’s song Prism from the album 1 and 1. The song encompasses bright melodies and retro beats with a modernized twist, which serve as a perfect mix with the members’ voices. The song’s main stars are the vocalists (particularly HAECHAN, whose tone works wonders with the genre), while the raps are tamer for the group’s standard.
Focus (9/10)
The fourth track is a mid-tempo R&B romantic song, a genre that is characteristic of 127’s B-sides and displays the group’s more soulful edge. Focus flawlessly showcases the members’ honeyed and warm vocals (especially JAEHYUN’s), and the slow lazy-like raps remind of early 2000’s sultry slow jams. This track was an immediate fan-favorite (as attested by yours truly).
The Rainy Night (9.5/10)
The Rainy Night is an R&B-tinged ballad reminiscent of boybands in the 90’s, and is the perfect follow-up to Focus, as vocals appear to be the true protagonists of both songs. In the track, TAEIL manages to stand out in particular by showing off his impressive range, with his beautiful adlibs on the suit-and-tie beat.
Far (6.2/10)
Next up is Far, characterized by a boom-clap drumline and a chanted chorus. Despite being rather forgettable, it is a good song after all – something straight out of a superhero movie soundtrack. It just sounds like something we’ve heard before at least a million times from about any KPOP boy group out there.
Bring The Noize (6.6/10)
Bring The Noize is about as NEO as it can get, with loud and thunderous beats, growling raps and sounds mimicking a car engine, which together make you feel as if your head were in a blender. Just like Sticker, this song is pure chaos, but of an overwhelming and impetuous kind because of its packed production. Yet, I think that’s where it all goes sideways – Bring The Noize is just too overwhelming, because it’s too crowded. On top of the production overflowing with sounds and effects, the vocal aspect of the song is simply too much. All members sing or rap on the track, but the variety of vocal colors is disarming and confusing to the ears in the worst way. Simply put, some members could have stayed silent in that recording booth…
Magic Carpet Ride (6.4/10)
Doing a full 180 from the previous track, Magic Carpet Ride is a ballad with pop elements, and a melodic beat that particularly shows off DOYOUNG and JAEHYUN’s vocals. Despite being a lovely song, it’s nothing particularly exceptional – it’s good for what it is, but it falls slightly flat and forgettable. Nevertheless, it does a wonderful job in proving that not every KPOP song needs a rap part…
Road Trip (7.3/10)
Road Trip shows off 127’s more boyish and bright side, with nice layers of guitar, drums and delicate vocals, proving once again how the band’s is not just a loud gimmick. The song is enjoyable – however, it’s not something we haven’t heard before from NCT. It’s sweet and lovely, but it’s definitely nothing to write home about.
Dreamer (7.4/10)
This upbeat song gives yet another sweet and poppy feel to the tracklist, with retro beats, trumpet riffs and a happy-go-lucky melody. Dreamer kinda sounds like something out of an Old Navy commercial, but I mean it in a good way – its funky, childlike charm combined with the uplifting lyrics is likely to put a smile on your face!
Promise You (7.2/10)
127 chose to end the album with a letter dedicated to their fanbase, NCTzens. Due to the ongoing pandemic, groups have not been able to meet fans in a long time as they normally would. In Promise You they sing about being separated from a loved one and then being reunited again, which is likely a nod towards their fans. Musically, the song intertwines retro-inspired beats with atmospheric synths, that give it a dreamy-like appeal. The track is sweet and serves as a great album closer, as wrapping up the record with DOYOUNG singing “So stay” in a longing yet reassuring tone, feels like the perfect goodbye.
So, did it stick?
Overall, Sticker is a very well-made album – it has ballads, upbeat tracks, addictive songs, and a decent dose of the good ol’ pots and pans. Does it sound like something we have never heard before in KPOP? No! Does it sound like something we’ve never heard before from NCT? Also… No… But whilst the record follows a similar algorithm to 127’s past albums, it is still incredibly enjoyable without sounding boring or too déjà vu. It has a good 50/50 mix of experimental songs to ballads and R&B-influenced tracks, and it leaves room for both rappers and vocalists to shine.
The album truly screams ‘NCT 127’ – it’s experimental, not sonically cohesive, confusing, and a little weird. Plus, just like all of the group’s music, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Or better yet, it’s not at first listen. Sticker might be odd and disarming, but it will get to you eventually – you just gotta let it stick.
8/10
#i had MANY things to say <3#i hope someone liked it ^_^#btw this has not been through the editor yet <3 hope it's good :D#soph.txt

Sticker (NCT 127) - liveblog reaction
No disclaimer because this is my first time listening to anything off the album. I didn’t even watch any of the teasers. I’ll take a look at the MV for “Sticker” later.
Sticker - Interesting instrumental opening. A little grating on the ears. Oh no, autotone? Stop that. Get some help. I’m... not loving this. I like the I backing vocal harmonies at 0:56, but this song sounds so disjointed? The voice at 1:14 is appealing – Taeil, I think. (Edit: oh good, I was right for once.) I don’t mind Mark’s rap, but I think I just really don’t care for this instrumental which really kills my ability to enjoy this song. Plus the vocal editing efforts are not to my taste. I mean, it’s possible that it will grow on me like “Punch” did, but... This is hard to listen to. Vocals at 2:04 (Doyoung, I think) are kind of nice. (Edit: yes, it’s Doyoung.) The bridge is really the only tolerable part to me. I like the repeated melody of the synth flute, but I don’t like the synth flute itself. Haechan and Doyoung (at least I think it’s them) demonstrating that growly sort of Broadway / jazz vocals in a few parts is pretty cool, I’ll admit. (Edit: yes, it is them.) Oof. (Side note: when I went to look at the lyrics, I was stunned to learn that 1:59 is Jungwoo??? Wow.)
Lemonade - Intro like a motorcycle starting. I like this instrumental better already. Haechan’s voice is smooth here. Yeah, I’m digging this bassline with the percussion. Did they just say, “Woof?” This is groovy. I like Taeyong’s rap and then oh my god that vocal harmony overlaying him at 0:59? (Edit: apparently, the vocal harmony is overlaying Johnny not Taeyong.) Wow, I like it a lot. “Cherry Bomb” shout out. “Regular” shout out. Already I wish this were the title track lol. This song makes me want to dance. Normally I prefer Mark’s rapping over Taeyong’s, but I think this song suits Taeyong better actually. Fun combination of vocals for this bridge. “Sip it, sip it down.” Oh Jaehyun? God, these backing vocal harmonies are so good.
Breakfast - Continuing the food theme, I see. This is a club beat. “I want you baby, don’t stop.” Baby, don’t stop. The “day and night” harmony at 0:47 really caught my attention wow. I was about to say this song feels a little boring to me, which I still think, but that harmony was nice. Is 1:07 Yuta? (Edit: yes.) I like his voice. This percussion sounds like the built-in backing track on my synthesizer keyboard lol. This feels like the type of song that will grow on me the more I listen to it. I wish NCT 127 got more variety in the bridges. Like, I feel like bridges always follow the same formula, which is fine, but like... there’s so much more they could be doing than just the slowing down and the instrumental gets a little less and the vocals all sing loud and high and long. Similar sort of ending to “Lemonade.”
Focus - Is this album’s slower/softer song? Is 0:13 Yuta? (Edit: no, it’s Taeil.) There’s an interesting sort of underlying tone to his voice. The section starting at 0:38 is appealing. Is this the chorus? Aw, I thought Johnny was about to start rapping at 1:03. I think it’s a shame that this song is back-to-back with “Breakfast,” because they’re both a little flat / boring. I bet this was a fun song to arrange vocally. Like, I can tell there’s a lot going on there, but the end result isn’t that interesting to the ear, in my opinion. Jaehyun sounds good at 2:25. Doyoung sounds good in the following section too. Is this Yuta again at 2:48 after Haechan’s little interjection? (Edit: yes, this time it is Yuta.) It’s gonna be real embarrassing when I look up all these parts I’ve guessed are Yuta and it’s someone else, knowing my recent track record. I feel like this song should’ve been named “Chill.”
The Rainy Night - Piano opening makes a lot of sense for this title. I am immediately reminded of “Dancing in the Rain,” and it’s not just because of the title, I promise! Is this cello I hear? Wait, is this a v waltz? It certainly makes me want to v waltz. I don’t have a lot of thoughts on this song, but I’m enjoying it. I think it’s a nice change of pace, and the instrumental is really lovely. Haechan would kill a solo ballad album, I feel. Pretty harmonies. I love the flow of this. Very pretty piano.
Far - Aw man, I really liked the instrumental opening, but I don’t love this opening rap. Actually, the vibe of this is kind of in the same vein as “Sticker” I think (similar sort of disjointedness and grittiness), but done better. Not interesting enough to be a title track though. Is the “roll up, roll up, do what, do what” at 1:42 Jungwoo? Or maybe him and Haechan passing lines? (Edit: nope, just Jungwoo.) I like this song well enough, not going to be a favorite though. The “na na na na” is kinda catchy.
Bring the Noize - Living up to its name right off the bat. Honestly, I’m still waiting for a song that makes me go “oh wow, Mark sounds great,” because I normally have that moment a few times when listening to NCT 127′s music, but it hasn’t really happened yet here. Now that I’ve reached the chorus of this song, I’m submitting it for being the “MAD DOG” of this album (I find the instrumental unbearably scratchy originally but then listen to it a few more times and fall in love and want to choreograph a dance to it). Disjointedness is really the theme for this album, huh? “Come on, come on, come on” at 2:41, Taeil? Is this Johnny rapping after that? (Edit: yes, and yes.) I... don’t like it. I think I like Johnny singing more than I like Johnny rapping. Something in this background instrumental sounds like a built-in Garageband sound effect. This rap is very Taeyong.
Magic Carpet Ride - Soft song again? International rumba. I worry this is going to unbear ably cheesy. Yep. Okay, it’s not unbearably cheesy, but it is cheesy, but as far as cheesy songs go, I’m kind of digging it. Jaehyun sounds nice.
Road Trip - This title makes me think “coming-of-age,” which makes me think NCT Dream. Starting the song with Haechan doesn’t help lol. Oh, who is singing after him? I can’t tell. This instrumental does feel really NCT Dream to me. Other than the fact that I think this should’ve been an NCT Dream song, I have no strong feelings about this song. It’s fine, kind of smooth, not terribly vocally interesting / diverse. Honestly, this song would’ve been great on Hot Sauce.
Dreamer - Deeply into this instrumental. I think my mom would like. It has that disco / funk vibe. I was kinda expecting a ballad based off this title. Am pleasantly surprised. “Time stops.” I like this. “Show me a smile.” The backing vocals are delightful in this. I feel like this album has a TON of lyrical shout outs to previous NCT songs, which is really interesting. Like the kind of thing you’d find on a farewell album lol. This is a very fun song, and I like it a lot.
Promise You - Okay, final song. Who has this opening line? Taeil? Yuta? (Edit: Taeil. Interesting how I’ve really sort gotten their voices all similar this album.) This feels very cinematic. Like the final scene of the movie when the gang’s all gathered back together after the Big Confrontation. I like the driving beat. The section at 1:51 with Jaehyun leading and Doyoung backing is nice. It’s a nice song.
Final thoughts: I was expecting more Jungwoo, based off the teaser images I’d seen. I also expected Mark to wow more than he did. Jaehyun’s voice really stood out to me. This album was an interesting mix of smooth harmony songs and songs that sounded deeply disjointed. I think “Lemonade” is my favorite song at first listen through.

I was tagged by my pokemon trainer @cutebutapsychoo thanks for the tag lovely!!
1. It’s your birthday! What did you ask for and did you receive it?
Um it was either of two things (actually three). I asked to go to go back to Destin Florida which is a place with a lot of good memories for me, or i asked to go to Mexico. Both cant happen because of obvious reasons. It was either that, or i asked for albums which probably came in one piece because i know where to order them from by now lol.
2. What was the last song or album you listened to?
umm let me check Oh the last song i listened to was Let Me Out from the album of "The collection story op.2" by Jonghyun
3. What is your go to snack when you’re hungry or bored?
Goldfish or gummy worms. Sometimes both. Im a child ksjsjkwkw
4. What is your morning routine?
Lay in the fetal position for around 10 minutes scrolling through my phone before getting up making my bed, cleaning up after my dogs, eating, and then finally getting ready for the day.
5. What mythical/cryptid creature would you be?
A pokemon. Jkjk jsjwjs umm idk. Id probably be dumb enough to get turned into a werewolf, or be born a witch.
6. How do you interact with someone that you don’t like?
Ill be polite, but not the the entent of trying to start or carry a conversation. I'll probably be very quiet and the most ill do is smile politely like :]
7. How do you define a toxic person?
I would define a toxic person as selfish thinking the world revolves around them and not caring about the emotions or feelings of others caused by their actions therefore stunting the personal growth of people around them and also not growing themselves.
8. Have you ever been to a concert or fanmeet type of event? If not, would you want to?
I've been to two concerts no fanmeets or events. I attended a Monsta x concert and went to see nct 127 when they came for the houston rodeo. I would absolutley want to go to a fanmeet, but id probably cry so....someone needs to come with me to make sure i dont have a mental breakdown when i meet kihyun (or anyone else)
9. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
Um i dont really know enough about it to really choose whether i believe in it or not. Like the extent i know of it is that there is different moon, sun, star, ascending, signs with the planets also having sign as well as that there is different houses?? My friend who believes in it gave me a reading and while i did agree with a lot of what she said, i also disagreed with some of it. I think theres a limit, but i would like to know more about it. Its interesting to me.
10. If you had only one sense (hearing, touch, sight, etc.), which would you want?
Its a hard decision between sight and hearing. I am a emotional person and have emotionao attachment to each of my senses such as , never being able to taste the soup my mom makes me when in sick, not being able to feel the face of my lover (not that i have one). I think id have to go with hearing, because i honestly dont think id be here without music.
11. Who is your favorite celebrity or idol?
This is hard when i stan more than 15 groups, but i dont think i really have a favourite. Each idol has a differentiation in qualities and personality which i look up to. If i had to choose one it would be Leeteuk, the leader of Super Junior or Lay from exo. I do have my reasons for it, if you want to know just ask.
12. If you could talk to your favorite celebrity(s) for a limited time, what would you tell them?
Bold of you to assume i wouldn't be sobbing on the floor. On the serious note, i would thank them for being such a precious and lovely memory of what will become my past, but also being a bright light of hope and happiness in what will be my future. Whatever they do, ill stand behind them and support them, and to please take care of themselves.
13. I’m taking you out on a date and it’s your choice. Where are we going and what are we going to do?
Omg this is moving so fast jslakkd. I would like to go to a cute cafe and then a walk around the park most preferably. Id save all the other dates like amusement parks and movies for deeper into the relationship.
14. Do you like sweet or savory foods?
Sweet :) lol
15. Do you have any band merchandise or merchandise from any of your favorite artists? If so, what?
Im not home so i cant count them, so im going wholly off my memory.
4 bts albums 1 bt21 hoodie 3 pop up figures
2 exo albums 1 hoodie 1 shirt many stickers
1 exo-sc album
1 lay album

ALL ABOUT SM GLOBAL PACKAGE & NEO CITY: SEOUL EXPERIENCE
by twitter user @sugnsook // @yudotaeil
Hello~ so i am not that good at explaining/vlogging or writing stuffs but in this thread? or blogpost or wherever u guys reading this, i will try to describe my experience as much as I can. Also for now, I am dividing this post, FAQ-style according to several topics, and I will put a separate detailed post on my own Neo City: SEOUL experience. I hope this will help for u guys deciding to splurge a bit on concert/global package!
Disclaimer: In the past, I got a few ccs complaining about my fangirl related-expensive expenses, I just want to note earlier here that as the whole prior to the actual concert, I was a part time student & working 30+ hours a week, working every chances I get. It was also my last semester of undergrad studies & I have been wanting to attend NCT’s first ever concert since 2017 and been really saved up since then, so I consider the large expenses is pretty much a treat for myself.
Tl;dr: if you worked hard enough and really wanted to attend your faves event, just go for it, as it was really worth it.
— General
What is included in Global Package?
Concert ticket (depending on days u wanna go), a good quality hotel for your stay, return transportation to & from the concert venue - hotel, preorder access to official merchandises, NCT 127 theme global package-special merchandises, NCT 127 theme snack boxes (after the concert), One themed lunch, a half day tour with tour guide before the concert, special event (varies according to what concert) - for NCT127’s we got a photoshoot session with NCT127’s life-size standee in SM’s infamous practice room itself.
How much does Global Package cost?
All i can say first thing first is….it IS costly. The ones I am paying is $949USD for Superior Single (Course C) as shown below:
The difference between the prices & packages are it depends on which hotel they will locate you & your seating in the concert. They also have Course A, Course B & Course C which depends on the concert days you are attending. Because I am flying out to Seoul just for the purpose of concert so why not just buy the two days ticket? And yeah that is why I chose Course C.
When does the ticketing open?
Usually the global package ticketing will only open at least one month prior to the actual concert, just like the concert announcement itself. Basically right after SM announce the concert, just be prepared as the ticketing will be shortly after it, right before the general ticketing starts. My advice is just, save up save up and save up as it is really well-known super costly.
How competitive the tickets are?
It is less competitive than general ticketing for sure, but pretty competitive in between ifans itself. When I bought mine, I initially planned for just economy ones but the ticket sold out WHEN i clicked “payment”. So, be quick or you might need to wait a bit more. I’m the type to be anxious if I dont have my ticket yet so I really want my ticketing matters to be settled up as soon as possible so-- when I figured out the economy package got sold out I quickly clicked on superior option - impulsively hehs.
During that ticketing, SM allows you to hold your payment up to 2 hours, as for twin package buyers can split payment. So if the tickets sold out, you might be able to get it after 2 hours. NOTE THAT: SM changed the policy from 2 hours to 30 mins now.
Eventually SM will release more packages and you CANNOT change your options once you have buy it. The packages will be available up until a week/or two before the concert, but the type of packages is really depends. I would say, Course C - Economy package sold out pretty quickly because that is what most people aiming for.
*also, keep refreshing the page if you are buying at the exact ticketing open time! The ticketing for mine opened 3 mins before the actual time so yeah….
How is the payment made?
Paypal only. Just be sure you have signed up to smtown travel account, and link you cards or have paypal balance to get your payment completed smoothly. Your package will only be confirmed once you get the payment confirmation so, having a working payment method is important. SM’s cancellation policy is ridiculous so I recommend everyone who is interested to join GP to do a thorough research beforehand.
Can international fans join general ticketing?
Yes, but not really feasible, as Yes24 sites require verification, unless you have connections with korean verifications or buy from 3rd party. The downside of 3rd party is you might get even more expensive ticket collectively compared to what Global Package has offered.
How good the seats are?
It depends on your luck as you will only draw your ticket basically the day before the concert. The more you paid for the package, the better the seats. For standing you might get a better queue number and in korea concerts you strictly go in by queue number. I chose seating, so for luckily one of my seat was right next to extended stage, and another seat was on the other side but center view. Also i luckily got both sides of seating so I can enjoy the concert with both views.
It is possible to trade your ticket between other global package holders tho - bcs i saw people did this at my hotel lol but you cannot ask sm to change your ticket. The concert ticket will be written as “해외팬투어” (intl fans tour), instead of your name.
My seat on the first day
My seat on the second day, center view
My seat on the second day, side view
Is there a customer service page i can rely to?
Yes. If there is one thing i would applaud SMtown travel for, it is for their customer service. I used a lot of their “Q&A” page and they typically will reply you within one business day. If you ask on weekend, they will respond to you as quick as on Monday. So if you have any like literally, ANY question about your package, just send a question to them and they will reply personally as soon as they can. And it is in english.
— Logistics
After you have bought your package, SM will update the logistics & schedule 2 WEEKS before the concert. So don’t worry if they ghosted you out before that 2 weeks lol.
Technically, they will divide the hotels according to the package type (dlx/superior/econ), then they will divide you into bus numbers, according whether you are seating/standing. Also your schedule will depends on the bus number you get. And this is non-exchangeable, as they prepared everything according to the list that they grouped you out.
How is the hotel?
For me, i got located at Ibis Styles Ambassador Hotel in Gangnam. Because I got single package, i got the whole hotel room for myself, lol what a new experience, as for my solo travels i only go for budget hostels 🤣. The hotel location is only 15~20mins subway away from the venue, and it is walking distance from COEX. There are a bunch cafes & convenience store nearby so it is pretty easy to get something. The only thing is SM’s booth opens at 8pm, so because I arrived early, I just roamed around until the booth opens. At SM’s booth, it is where you pick up your preordered merchs, sm’s merchs and most importantly draw your tickets. Also I took the chance when gathering with fellow global package goers to trade anything i needed to exchange while everyone is there.
I dont know where to put this under, but for GP, We were given a greeting card from the boys, bunch of stickers, a letter set (with colour pencil), L-holders, bunch of posters and nct127’s moodlight. For the letter set, you can decorate and write fanletter to the members and hand it to your tour guide at the time they ask you. I bought some masking tape and stickers beforehand to decorate my letter, u can prepare it ahead too and transfer it to the letter they give as the time frame is really short.
Can I go to the concert by my own?
Yes you can~ Be sure to tell your tour guide so that they dont waste time waiting. You also have to tell them whether u want to go back to hotel with them or not, as that is when they will hand you the snack boxes. If you are not certain of travelling alone in Seoul, i recommend to travel by the bus they provide, because the tour guide will bring you right until the concert entrance. For me, I wanted to join fan-events and roam around the venue more, so I decided to go on my own. (Best thing about it was when you’re in a train with fellow NCTzens they just airdrop you a lot of nct related stuffs — including the selfies they airdropped at the venue!).
— Itinerary
How tight the schedules are?
It kinda not as tight as I thought? Except for pretty early schedule on the first day, also Maybe because I got a seating ticket so I dont go to venue after the tours right away (standing fans had to queue right away after the tour)
And for me, this was my schedule —
25th 8pm: pick up merchs, ticket etc from SM booth 26th 10am - gather at hotel lobby 10:30am - depart for lunch (at Bulgogi Brothers), it was NCT127-theme and they play nct’s songs! 11:50am - depart to COEX artium - u get 1 hr to roam around there, I chose to roam around smtown museum 1pm - depart to SM C&C building in cheongdam, for special event Around 2~ish - depart back to hotel
U get free time in between and gather back at 4:30pm to depart to concert venue as concert starts at 6. As concert ends around 8:30pm, they give you about 45mins~ to get back to the bus if you wanna go back with them. 27th Bus departs at around 2 pm if i recall, as concert starts at 4pm. I went out at 10am lols (also tell your tour guide!) and bus departs around 7:30pm after the concert. 28th - check out around 12pm.
Detailed itinerary will be updated in my experience post.
The best thing about the concert period was they give you discount on some SM-related stuffs. For example, they give 30% off (?) for beverages at sm cafe for ticket/GP holders, and also discounted smtown museum admission. There were also new merchs got released that time, and some other promotions going on.
Snack box after the concert!
Merchs I collected from kfans giveaways at the venue
The best part was NCTZens spreading out the fanproject - sing Paradise during Encore; using Airdrop. NEO indeed 😎
The amount of memes & stuffs being airdropped - lol
— Budgeting
General budgeting for my trip:
Flight - around 1.6K MYR return trip with 20kg luggage & meal (AirAsia)
Hotel - i only went during my GP stay period so it was all inclusive (hotel + concert ticket) with that $949 USD
Other expenses (tmoney, food, additional merchs) - about $250 usd is enough for me for 4 days, considering I spent on buying cosmetics & merchs a lot. My own preordered merchs was separate amt too, it depends on what u do/willing to spend around that period.
— For Muslim Fans
Do they provide halal meals?
They dont provide halal meat, but you can request for vegetarian option or seafood. During lunch, I got vegetarian bibimbap set. And for the snack boxes, too bad SM provided ham/bacon in the sandwiches, which I am not confident in removing it so I decided to not eat, just eat the cookies. Also they offer late-night meals after the concert (separate pay), but I didnt opt for that one and only went to eat at nearby places.
Can I pray before the concert?
Yes~ as I mentioned earlier, there are a few hours gap before you depart to concert so you can pray at your hotel beforehand. Or if you dont mind, like I did as I went to venue early on the 2nd day, I went to pray at Olympic Park area itself, there are a lot of benches or u can walk a bit further to isolated places to pray. I just sat down at some bench and pray while sitting down.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
These are what I can think of, and as I said earlier I do have another separate post regarding my own NEO CITY: Seoul experience, and I will update under a thread. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via twitter (@sugnsook/@yudotaeil) or curiouscat.me/6sungjae. Also for neo city fancams/random pics about my trip, it will be updated eventually under the main thread where this entry is posted :) Hope it helps!

i did like beautiful hehe! it was pretty cheesy but i liked the tune a lot <3 HELP they really were popping and locking to a ballad weren't they? ;-;-;-; the mv felt like they were in high school musical or something KJKF like?? all the aespa members busy fighting off the black mamba or whatever the heck goes on in the kwangya and here we have the nct members dancing on a road like they're in some christmas musical 😃👍
dreaming has to be my favourite track in the entire album, not even kidding. my top tracks were dreaming, beautiful, sweet dream and good night :D round & round is def one of my other faves too, though. kinda random but i ALWAYS hear the lyrics of earthquake as 'booty shake earthquake' 💀😭
AND OMG YES i agree one hundred percent!! if sm made lemonade or bring the noize or something nct 127's title track instead of sticker, i'd actually want to listen to the whole album instead of hearing the title track and becoming super disinterested to listen to the rest of the songs, even though some of them were good, like road trip and focus ;-;
which is your favourite nct title track? and your favourite b-side? :D
~ samoyed <3
YES IT FELT LIKE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL BUT IN A BAD WAY BC HSMS KNEW THEY WERE BEING CORNY BUT THE BEAUTIFUL MV IS SUPPOSED TO BE DEADASS 😭😭😭 aespa are the only ones who can fight 😔 nct is full of himbos all they can do is have a flash mob in the streets
and same!!! we have such good taste in songs 😩 LMFAOOOOOOOO I NEVER PAID ATTENTION BUT IT DOES KIND OF SOUND LIKE BOOTY SHAKE EARTHQUAKE PLSSSSSS SMH THE LYRICS SHOULD'VE BEEN THAT 😤
FRRRRR like when the title track sucks, i don't even want to listen to the rest of the album?? and unfortunately most of nct's title tracks are a miss for me so i've been growing less and less motivated to listen to the album 💀 luckily universe's b-sides managed to save this comeback but sm needs to get it together. complicated dance moves + dubstep bridge does not equal a good comeback
omfg of all time ?? my fav title track out of all of the units has definitely my first and last 🤩 that's the song that really got me into the dreamies and nct in general and it remains dream's best song <33333 my fav b-side is also a dream song DFKSLA it's walk you home 🤧 it's just so sweet and innocent and they're all just singing with no awkward rapping !! i just really like it when they do simpler stuff like this. what about you?

Well, I actually have the entire opposite opinion of you about the new song haha, but hey, I respect it! I personally found it hard to follow because of the constant switches between rhythms and melodies, plus I wasn't really all too excited when I heard the teaser. I had an anon ask me about it and I gave a more detailed reply there, so I don't want to clog up this ask with my rambling. Honestly, NCT's more recent songs have been giving me mixed opinions and I miss their old sound where you didn't have to unscramble everything constantly, but I'm hoping there's more variety on the new album than just noise music. Either way, I'm sure there's people out there who will enjoy it, but maybe I'll pass on this one. Out of the unit teasers, I actually really liked "Miracle", that was my favourite over the Dream and 127 songs, so I'm looking forward to that one.
Do you have a lot left of your semester to still get through? I've got one more big project and then I can relax for a bit, but it's a group one and having five other boys to manage is real interesting (I lucked out this time, they've all been really good with doing their work so I can't complain).
lmao, I love how different our opinions are. Because for me this messiness of the song keeps me on my toes through the listen and I can wonderfully unplug my brain while listening 😂 I was excited from the teaser because I guess I just enjoyed the heavy bass and synth combination.
I've only barely been here since Kick it, so while I listen to their older music, I can say that I enjoyed most of the more recent comebacks. (That being said, Sticker only grew on me after promotions were over) But Queen Hello Future soty, I don't take criticism.
again, I liked Miracle the least of all the track videos. We're so different 😂 I think I liked earthquake the most, not sure though.
I have my first exams in January and if I'm unlucky they'll stretch until March. My rhythm is different from American (and I guess Canadian?) uni because our semesters start in April and October. I rarely have group projects so I cannot relate lmao
#remi 🪐#ask#see: this is how you have a conversation about opposing opinions#but I am right about Hello Future I am not discussing her ahahahah
