percy doing better than annabeth in college is one my favorite developments in the rrverse. if we reflect on percy and annabeth's academic upbringing. annabeth living at camp allowed her to receive accommodations for her adhd and dyslexia and surround herself with like-minded campers who had the same limitations. whereas percy was ridiculed, belittled, and routinely humiliated because of his adhd and dyslexia. even more so, percy's friends and family leave him out of the loop on so many important issue (no chb orientation film, no information about the great prophecy) which perpetuates his subpar confidence and self-esteem in his skills as a student and a demigod. but going to college at NRU changes his mindset because he receives the accommodations he should have gotten years ago and fucking thrives to the point of getting higher grades than annabeth — a person he deems way smarter and more prepared than him in every way. the most important thing percy is learning now is that a supportive environment makes all the difference, and he is more capable than he initially thought.

This sequence of episodes (Vergesson heist and its aftermath) are also a testament to the sheer determination of the mighty nein, both in the narrative and on a meta level.

When Trent shows up in Vergesson, Matt makes it clear that Ikithon wants to talk. He makes no actual attack on the PCs, and Matt openly expresses surprise when Caleb starts immediately casting offensive spells. They very easily could have been caught there, they only make it out because of Caleb’s nat 20 counterspell.

Then again in Nicodranas, Trent just wants to talk! He’s just curious! And he backs them into a corner that there really should be no way out of… but then they come up with a way. A crazy genius way that Matt could not have predicted.

In a situation where it would have been so easy to let the DM’s expectations combined with the mechanics of the situation guide them into a particular course of action… the mighty nein said ‘fuck that, it’s bad, we’re running’.

Ikithon’s manipulation and Matt’s signaling that a conversation is a viable story path is no match for Caleb’s abject fear and the Mighty Nein’s ride or die attitude. Caleb really said ‘this is the scariest man in the world and I’ll burn down anything including myself before I let him touch your families’ and the Mighty Nein said ‘we’re with you.’ This is the same party that walked across the continent to save part of their family, and it shows.

Does anyone else think Hen's finally and the I've-always-known sparkle in her eye could also be about Tommy? She's proud of Buck, there's no doubt about that. But what if she's also proud Tommy is allowing himself to be his authentic self now? She watched him during everything at the 118 and knows how far he's come to get to this point. I'm sure someone else has posted this by now, but I thought of it and wanted to see if anyone else had similar thoughts about this. I really need to see an on-screen conversation between Tommy and Hen please.

I have a headcannon that Red is horrible at decision making. Like most people wouldn't really notice but like if someone were to ask her like "Hey what do you want for dinner" or "what drink do you want wit that" she'll likely get paralyzed by the amount of options. Because she's so used to not being able to choose anything for herself. Chloe starts to notice this and instead of choosing for her she makes a system for Red to help narrow down her choices in a way less overwhelming like "are you in the mood for something fizzy or flat?" Or "do you want to try something sweet or savory?" And them from there she’d give suggestions one at a time until Red is comfortable enough to order for herself. Because she wants Red to feel like she has autonomy even if it takes her a while to get there. She wants Red to make the decisions she never got to back home.

thinking about stan twins and nicknames... I like Lee as a nickname for Stanley, but the more I think about it the less I can see Ford using it. he's really more of a full names guy (except for the odd first initial)

which brought me to the idea of Caryn coining the Ford and Lee nicknames when they were little to "balance out" Filbrick only ever calling them "Stan." I think later she'd switch to exclusively using their full names once they got older. when it comes to talking to each other, Ford went the full name route, and Stan went the second syllable route.

"womp womp gf schedule so bad" this is the same schedule as last year? They did this to not have a crazy time with filming and editing a video in three days? Idk I love that they found a way that works for them and are not overworking their crew over already insane schedule which is making an episode from literally nothing but I guess you can nitpick every single thing they do. Personally I love that "not overworking their crew" is something they prioritize, I like my ghost hunting show made in best possible conditions.
