MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE” REUNITES OG TEAM FOR TRILOGY’S FINALE
It's #MagicMikesLastDance this February 8! Read all about it here:
MAGIC MIKE’s LAST DANCE is coming soon! Ten years after “Magic Mike” surprised audiences, star Channing Tatum and the original filmmaking team have reunited—this time in Miami and London—to catch up with Mike Lane in “Magic Mike’s Last Dance.”  Director Steven Soderbergh is back at the helm, with producer and writer Reid Carolin returning to pen the script, which introduces a steamy new love…

My favorite moment from the Oscars
Tumblr media
I was rooting for these two men during all the awards season. I understand there has to be a winner. But I can't avoid having mixed feelings.
What a year had my man Colin Farrell ... he has grown up a lot, he is a mature man with a great art ... I hope in the future there will be more chances for him, cause he deserves more recognition
Tumblr media
Brendan Fraser has many similarities with his character "Charlie" ... He got a divorce, suffered from depression, dealt with health issues. But, opposite as Charlie, he could save himself. Thanks to people who gave him a second chance, he started to get again important roles on tv and movies (like Danny Boyle, Steven Soderberg,,, even Scorsese)
And then he appear ... the man who gave actors and actresses the role of a lifetime ... the man ... Aronofsky
Tumblr media
Since I knew about "The Whale" on july 2022, I knew this would be a movie everybody will talk about and would gave Fraser the chance to shine ... but I never thought or understood how much people love him
thanks to the "Brennaisance" I could finally understand many things about this man

I would like to point out that Knives Out was not Daniel Craig's first ridiculous-southern-accent rodeo. That honor goes to Steven Soderberg's Logan Lucky where Craig got to go delightfully unhinged as a felon explosives expert.
I truly am obsessed with how Knives Out was like. Hello Daniel Craig, man who has spent the past two decades of his career being alternately beaten up and objectified playing an action hero with no personality. Would you like to please put on a shirt and an incomprehensible vaguely Texan accent and flex your character acting dark comedy muscles as well as your pecs for a while. And he’s like BOY WOULD I and they made a work of art. Also love that they put Chris Evans in sweaters. Get your beefcakes then dress them nice make them soft and give them some bonkers character work to do it’s what cinema needs more of

What the Buzz?
Tumblr media
This year's Sundance is all the rage. So many great films premiering with so many great artists and filmmakers arriving. Some films have even already been picked up by a company! Kneecap, a story about an Irish rap group that was picked up by Sony and The Greatest Night in Pop, will be streaming on Netflix at the end of the month. There are so many films this year at Sundance, so it is going to be a tough choice for which ones are bought by big companies. Out of the one’s I have watched, so far, these ones have been picked up; A Different Man, A24, How to Have Sex, Mubi, In A Violent Nature, IFC Films and Shudder, and Stress Positions, Neon. I’ll for sure be keeping my eye out for any more that are picked up. I really hope that someone picks up the pilots from the Episodic Pilot Showcase as each of those films can turn into a great series.
Tumblr media
There’s been talk, and confirmed sightings, of certain celebrities appearing. So who, exactly, has been at Sundance thus far? First we have Lionel Richie, who showed up for the premiere of The Greatest Night in Pop. We’ve had Lucy Liu and Julia Fox of Steven Soderbergh's Presence. Simone Ashley from 10 Lives. Stress Positions' John Early, Theda Hammel, Qaher Harhash, and John Roberts. Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin from A Real Pain. Saoirse Ronan from The Outrun. And Sebastain Stan and Adam Pearson from A Different Man. Unfortunately I have not run into anyone famous out on the streets yet, but it would be cool if I did.
Since we are done with the opening weekend and many films have had their world premiere here are some highlights. A New Kind of Wilderness, which I am seeing later in the festival, is a “touching” film about a family in Norway who has to deal with and overcome a tragedy. Girls State follows a story about young women and how to navigate the political world. It shows us the difference between men and women and how they have to fight for their rights. There have also been a few movies about AI, which have taken over. The first is Love Machina, a story about bringing your conscious into an AI so that your thoughts and soul can live forever. Eternal You, which I am also seeing later in the festival, is using AI to bring back a loved one to life. I am really excited to see this one as AI is something that has been controversial for a while and I am curious to see this take on it.
While standing in line for shows, I have heard talk of which films people have liked the most. So far I’ve heard Presence by Steven Soderberg, which I agree with, and one I haven’t seen yet but plan to It’s What’s Inside. I’ve also met some cool people such as an independent film critic, a producer from LA, and a few Slamdance cast and directors. I am excited to continue my journey at Sundance.
Keep an eye out for more reviews coming your way!

"Chastity, Truth & Kinopanorama" film master [with music by Anatol Liadov]. from Kinopanorama Widescreen on Vimeo.
"Chastity, Truth and Kinopanorama", the title of which is a pun on Steven Soderberg's "Sex, Lies and Videotape", is a short-subject 'infotainment' film, which informs viewers about the Soviet-era 3-film panoramic format [designed to compete with the American-designed Cinerama and CineMiracle 3-film formats] with interesting footage of Moscow, filmed in 1995 with the PSO-1960 panoramic multi-lens camera purchased by the Kinopanorama Widescreen Preservation Association, Inc. [incorporated in NSW]. Music by Anatol Liadov.

My ★★★★½ review of Magic Mike on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/3VDXlR
Not as sexy as I'd hoped. After a while you get a bit desensitised to all those six packs. Fortunately the story was good enough that that didn't matter. I was totally invested in Mike's career aspirations and Steven Soderberg's very good at portraying romance between 3-dimensional characters who seem to genuinely respect one another.
I've never liked Matthew McConaughey as an actor (including in this), but I can't deny he makes a very good strip-show-compere. And Alex Pettyfer does a really good job as the useless loser who gets too big for his boots and in over his head.
Oh yeah, and this weirdly reminded me of 'Of Mice And Men'... or a crime film about a gangster trying to go legit, except instead of the mob it's just being a stripper.

Highly Suspect Reviews: Logan Lucky Getting so you can't trust anyone in Hollywood who says they're 'retired' anymore. Steven Soderberg only took a five year break from directing films after his announcement before he came back but it seems like we're all happy about it regardless. His latest, Logan Lucky, is a southern-boys heist... read more on One of Us
