Steve’s hand moved in experienced, focused strokes, as his pencil scratched against the morning paper. Unexpected and intoxicating, his drawing bloomed aside an abandoned crossword puzzle. The lead almost glistened in the sunlight, mimicking a trickling water-droplet Steve was eager to capture on paper…

Almost as much as with his tongue.

Steve lifted his gaze—towards the real masterpiece that was sitting by the pool—when his skin prickled with an abrupt flush of heat. He found Peter’s eyes on him, brimming with envy. 

Peter leaned back on his palms, kicking his legs slowly back and forth in the water. He tilted his head back to give Steve a tantalising view of his neck, droplets of water trailing down his chest and through the hairs that covered his stomach, disappearing into the band of his shorts.

Peter’s throat bobbed as he swallowed thickly, caressed by the water. 

Steve was left wanting. Yearning.

Volleyball player Peter Parker / Steve Roger

Just picture: Volleyball player Peter Parker who meets Steve Rogers (And Peter may or may not be Spider-man) out in a run and they hit it off. So they start running together every other day, and Steve’s just shocked that he can keep up with him (and is slightly faster than him) and Peter just tells him it’s from volleyball since he’s been playing since he was a kid.

And when he and Peter go for a run one day Bucky and the team follow him because Steve has ether: not stopped talking about the pretty twink, Who plays volleyball and can keep up with him when they run.

Or: Has been really secretive and has been staying out late (to hangout with Peter) and they wanna see what girl must have caught Steve’s eye, so they follow him (In their amazing disguise’s) And watch him go in some coffee place with a pretty brunette (who looks barely 18) so there just sitting at a table watching them(discreetly) and Steve see’s them and gets really embarrassed (and kinda upset that they followed him) so he try’s to get Peter and him to leave so they can finish there run, and Peter is just oblivious and thinks Steve must be feeling sick so he offers to cut there run early and Steve agrees (even tho he loves hanging out with Peter) that way he can have a talk with his friends about privacy.

But before Peter leaves he tells him to come to his volleyball game in a few days. And Steve would be so flustered because ✨Peter in short shorts✨ but agrees because Peter is his friend and definitely doesn’t like him, because who would like a 100 and something year old man who barely even knows what volleyball is.

Even tho Peter has been blatantly flirting with him for months.

I can imagine Peter working out across the room (maybe sparring with Nat) and Steve and/or Bucky takes their shirt(s) off while fighting across the room and his mind goes blank, and doesn’t remember that he’s fighting Nat at the moment and he gets knocked back into reality because Nat punches him in the face with a ‘Keep your eyes on the target, loverboy’

and maybe one of them notices it happen so they start doing their morning runs shirtless see Peter (also on a separate morning run with Sam) and he trips over a rock and Sam laughs at him while helping him up because he couldn’t take his eyes off of the men.

Within the next couple of weeks the pair are after sighted together.

One thing golden era Wattpad writers had going for them was that they knew the importance of a buildup. I'm of the opinion that the sexual tension is WAY more satisfying to read than the actual sex and quite frankly there is a serious lack of non smutty writing.

Like I really miss reading fics/ x readers that start from scratch. Meeting the characters, initial reactions getting to know them, the tension the jealousy the TENSION the freaking tension.

Looking and looking away when they get spotted, touches that feel like they linger but perhaps they didn't and they're both so hot for each other that they think it's wishful thinking. And I don't mean just sweet sunshine romances, darker works can have a buildup too but it seems like so much is just about getting to the smut instead of the psychological aspect.

Bring back the build up!!!!!!!
