  “Hustle girls!”
  “Box her out!”
“Are you fucking kidding me 22?”
His workout tank was ringed dark around the hem of the neck, glistening drops of sweat travel from the column of his neck down into the gray cotton blend fabric.
He was pissed. When wasn’t he?
A rogue strand of hair escapes from the style he had down to a science, red blotches flashed across his cheeks and neck, veins poked out from his vacation tanned skin.
Last night's game ended horribly. And today you were all paying the price for it.
  -
With only 10 seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter, the play he had drawn up on the marker board was the exact same one you had been practicing since your first year at college. Only this time you were getting the ball after Mel faked to Blair, with just enough time to shoot that beautiful three point shot you had been perfecting since high school.
The squeak from the black expo marker under his thick fingers wrote out his code: Hawkins for the play that was drilled into your brain by coach for the last year.
“Run it just how we’ve been practicing, I’m telling you it’ll work.”
Mel’s fake out didn’t work and you had gotten the ball late. Each dribble from the floorboards into your sweaty palm felt like a heartbeat. The girl guarding you swatted at the ball, missing just barely as she attempted to make a steal, trying to force you to foul her when she had the ball to waste more time and grant you your fourth foul, ending your playing time.
A quick move around her and a cross to your left hand had her stumbling over her ankles like Bambi, and you cut to the three point line, lined up your Nike’s to the hoop like your dad had taught you, and arched the ball into the air.
The buzzer was blaring when the orange ball left your finger tips, tongue poking out and your ponytail fluttering behind you. the gymnasium lights were hospital white, piercing your eyes and making you see dots as you landed on your feet, your competitor reaching for the ball at the last second.
Anticipation filled your lungs as the ball circled around and around the rim. The girls and coach all rose from the bench and waited with hands on their heads or holding hands watching the ball spin.
And with a sick twist, it fell out. Landing to the floor with a silent thud as the bleachers erupted into a nascar loud roar.
  Bulldogs: 60 Pirates: 58
  He was furious.
Clipboards snapped on his khaki thighs as you all sat on the wooden benches of the sweaty walled locker room. He didn’t yell, he didn’t speak to anyone other than glaring into the ceiling.
“Pack your shit, bus leaves in five.”
No times for showering or debriefing, you and your teammates were hustled to the bus as he snapped his fingers, let’s go let’s go let’s go!
Refusing to let the bus driver stop to get water or any sort of snacks on the way home. “They don’t deserve it.” He preened, looking at your sad faces with a disapproval that cut so deep it had some of the girls in tears.
His mossy green eyes stopped on yours and the disappointment brewed to hatred, his eyes burning emerald, he blew air through his nose and clenched his knuckles, “none of them.”
Mel had thrown up twice during Coach’s infamous Hellfire Sprints. Her and her boyfriend Trevor, who was practically your 5th suitemate, had stayed up until dawn doing pulls from a tequila bottle and hitting his dab pen.
  You hadn’t slept either.
Laying on top of your comforter with wet hair and lotion slicked skin, racking your brain with how the shot felt a tiny bit off from your fingers, how coach’s eyes looked like a fucking demon’s when he glared at you on the bus.
How the Sunday morning practice, which was usually laid back and games of pig and watching game tape, was going to be hell on earth.
“22 if I have to tell you one more time to move your ass I’m cutting you from this team do you hear me?”
You rolled your eyes as you pushed yourself faster to touch the black line, beating out the other girls by a full few seconds.
After the sixth set of sprints he had you all go to the workout room and max out on squats. Your legs shook and nearly buckled under the heavy weights. And all he did was stand behind you and tell you how pathetic you looked, he shook his head and scoffed.
“We’re gonna stay here all day til you rack this up, don’t care if you fall on your ass— you’ll do it.”
His breath fanning your ear drove you mad. Spearmint gum and that rich boy cologne he always wore stung your nose as you grunted in defiance.
Through bared teeth and burning lungs you extend your legs to stand.
You wanted to kick him in the dick, make him shut the fuck up for once, but you bit your tongue. Driving the bar up and slamming it loud against the rack  Looking back at him with a glare in your eyes, you wouldn’t let a single tear wet your eyes, never giving him the satisfaction.
He looked you up and down quickly, but his eyes felt like hot pokers dragging against your skin. Before he crossed over to another one of your teammates to add more weight to their bar, he dipped his head, and muttered just above a whisper, “Thatta girl.”
  -
You didn’t know much about him but what you did know was that he kept to himself.
Coach Harrington was only a few years older than you, he had a small mustache that he more than likely grew to make himself look a little older than he was.
From what your suitemates had found out by spending hours scouring online archives from his hometown local newspaper to his social media footprint that didn’t exist— and even going as far to stalking his ex girlfriends Instagram— he had played college ball at Perdue for two years before blowing out his knee and ending a full ride scholarship and any rumored possibility of making it to the NBA.
From locker room gossip, you had learned that he drove a black Jeep Wagoneer, and lived in one of the newer apartments downtown.
The university had paid double what they had for the last coach's salary to get Harrington through the doors. The athletic director, Mr. Hopper, had picked him to coach because he was one of the best. But all he was to you was a fucking asshole.
The other girls had ooed and awed over him, the other teams coaches flirted with him before the games, trying to get his number and find out more about the brooding coiffed hair hottie. And maybe you would feel different about him if he wasn’t such a raging prick.
  But he wouldn’t budge.
He didn’t get personal with anyone on the team, barely even talked to his assistant Dustin. Refusing to call anyone by anything other than their jersey number or their last name.
Practice lasted for three hours. And by the end of it his voice was hoarse and gruff. Having screamed practically during the entire time.
It wasn’t anything new. He was always high strung and losing his shit when it came to the girls, but mostly you bore the brunt of his anger.
He always used you as an example on what not to do.
“You’re doing it wrong 22,” he’d bellow, his voice echoing loud across the empty gym, his arms crossed tight across his chest, muscles popping under the strain of his tight gray shirt, “drive to the left then cut right, this isn’t fucking hard… do it again.”
You did as you were told, fighting through anger that seeped through your skin and riddled your face with shaking muscles of anger, a twitch to your eye.
You were pissed and had had enough. Not only were you the youngest captain your school had ever seen, you were averaging triple doubles nearly every game.
Showing up to practice early to shoot free throws and leaving late to make sure all the equipment was put away. Spending weekends in the gym running drills or pushing weights instead of at the nearest rager popping pills and snorting coke like everyone else your age.
You put in the work and it showed, but he couldn’t see it.
It was equally frustrating and heartbreaking.
When practice was finally through and all of the girls had either thrown up, left mid practice to go to the nurse or screamed that they were quitting, the locker room was an endless groan. Muscles were slicked over with the menthol burn of icy hot, and sore shoulders wrapped with bags of ice. Tape was torn from ankles and jammed fingers wadded up and tossed into a nearby waste bin. Sniffles were heard from some players and you stood in a sports bra and shorts when Coach Harrington entered the locker room.
“Don’t get too comfortable, we’ll be back here in 3 hours to run more Hellfire Sprints.”
The girls groaned and slammed lockers, bitching under the breath.
“Hey!” Coach Harrington shouted, a thin vein bulging in his forehead, matching the ones in his arms, as he stood with his hands on his hips, the retro fit of his athletic pants swishing under his thick hands. “You want someone to bitch to? You can thank your captain.”
The room falls silent as all eyes land on you. And your breath hitches in your throat, cheeks burning with embarrassment.
“Me?” You question, “what the hell did I do?”
“The question you should be asking yourself is what you didn’t do. How did you sleep last night knowing you blew that game for your teammates?”
A gasp escapes from your lips and you stare at your Air Forces to hide your pained expression.
“Now, the rest of you get recharged, be back here at 5 o’clock, I don’t want any excuses.” As the room starts to file out, through the heavy wood door,  Coach Harrington still stands in the middle of the room,  eyes burning holes  into your skull, “22 meet me in my office in 10, we need to discuss your position on this team.” He turned on his heel and headed through the doors, pushing them open with a straight arm and his pants swishing down the hallway,
You wait til everyone has gone, Mel giving you a slap on the shoulder, her skin unusually pale on her olive complexion under her charcoal braids, “good luck.”
Lifting your chin you nod and wave, throwing an oversized crew neck over your head and pushing your arms through the holes. Gym bag strewn over your shoulder and you pull your socks up a bit before making the long trek down to Coach Harrington’s office.
Contemplating what you would do when you walked through his office and he kicked you off the team, your long basketball career over because your coach couldn’t fucking stand you.
Never in all your life had you had a coach like him. He pushed you to the limits and started to make you despise the sport altogether.
And since you were about to be booted off the team, you didn’t have anything to lose.
The gold plate reading: Coach S. Harrington- Women’s Basketball on the large mahogany door nestled between the cream cinder block walls almost made your stomach lurch. He never asked anyone to come to his office, not even when Zoey got pregnant last semester and had to quit.
Nerves shook your fist as you knocked on his door, your other hand fumbling your car keys around the silver ring.
“Yeah.” He barked curtly, anything but friendly.
Turning the enormous brass knob, you keep your eyes to the floor when you step into his office. For being down an abandoned hallway, it was almost cozy. The walls were painted fire engine red to match your school's colors. His college degree was framed and hanging on one wall, along with signed pictures of Michael Jordan that you knew cost more than your car.
The oak desk was neat with a MacBook and cup of pens and pencils. A markerboard hung the expanse of one wall covered in scribbled plays and code names.
It smelled like musky expensive leather and cologne and neatly stacked paper  Pictures from his glory days were on the shelf behind him, and he cleared his throat when you stared at him flying through the air towards a hoop.
His hair was messy, tufts of brown sticking up, like his fingers had been raking through it so many times out of frustration that the flexible gel wasn’t holding anymore.
He peers at his screen without making eye contact with you, fingers tapping noisily on the keys.
“Do you hate basketball?”
His question has your head spinning.  And when you don’t answer right away he asks again.
“N-no,” you stutter, voice shaky and on the verge of screaming at his stupid question.
“Sure about that?” He seethes, still not looking up from his laptop as he clicks away furiously on the keyboard, “The way you played last night could have fooled me.”
Moon shapes indent your palm as you try to keep it together without ripping his head off like a praying mantis “It was a mistake.”
“We don’t make elementary mistakes,” he says slamming his laptop closed and peering over his desk at you through his thick eyebrows, “a fucking third grader could have ran that play better than you did.”
Your throat is dry and chalky as you try to stick up for yourself, being accustomed to keeping rage boiled hot in your belly, “I-I’m..”
His torment continues, pointing around the room at the awards from the last few years, “We’re a nationally ranked team, and your performance last night was embarrassing, and pathetic!”
A single tear threatens to slip down your cheek, and he notices the watery look in your eye, and licks his lip, but he keeps going.
“I expected more out of you, 22– you let your team down last night, and most importantly, me.”
You burst before the dam does, annoyed and sick of his threats, sick of his constant nitpicking of every move yoj make, “That’s not anything new.”
  “Excuse me?”
“You treat me like I’m a dog! It’s almost like you want me to quit, you don’t bitch at any of the other girls like you do to me, and I’m tired of it!”
“Watch your mouth.” He points, eyes squinted and nostrils flared.
“No! I work my ass off for you, come in early and stay late. My game has improved and I’m top of the charts for scoring and rebounds, yet you fucking hound me and are constantly cutting me down.”
He doesn’t say anything so you keep going.
“Last night could have ended with us winning and you wouldn’t give a flying fuck, you’d still make us run your dumbass drills, you’d still wake up and find something wrong with what I do— stop taking your failed career out on me!”
he slams his fist into his desk and stands up quickly, the picture frames wiggle as his chair hits the shelf. He crosses the small office in one long legged step coming to stand before you as your back hits against the heavy door,  he points a thick finger into your face.
You struck the last fragile nerve he had like a guitar player busting a string playing a solo. Any reserve he had left was gone, his eyes clouded over into hue deeper than a dark forest.
His hot breath fans your cheek, spearmint intensely strong with each bite of his words.
“Don’t you ever talk to me about my personal life again, you got that? You,” he surges pointing into your shoulder, “are supposed to be a leader for this team, and right now you’re acting like a spoiled fucking brat not getting her way.”
The tear you were holding back spills over over your lashes and, his eyes break from yours to watch its southward path on from your cheek to your chin. A low grown rumbles in his throat.
“I’m not a brat!” you scream at him, wiping your cheek hastily,  “you’re crazy, and we all hate you!”
His eyes stay moody and dark as he peers into your face down the slope of his nose, “really?” he says no louder than a whisper, “you hate me huh?”
A thick hand wraps around your ponytail, and his body crowds yours into the door, back flat as it would go despite your curves.
Your breathing is erratic, bubbled into your throat with anxiety like you might throw up. His face is so close to yours you can see the definition of each of his eyelashes, and tiny flecks of gold in his eyes.
He’s staring at you with pure hatred, like he’d kill you if ever given the chance, and you’re almost embarrassed by the way your pussy clenches.
“Say it again,” he murmurs, mouth barely moving and barely an inch from your own, his eyes only leave yours when your mouth opens to speak.
“I fucking hate you, Coach Harring—”
His mouth slams into yours with such force your teeth clack together and the taste of blood trickles on your tongue. Your back is pushed flush against the door, likely to bruise from the force alone.
His full weight is pressed against you, his taut body firm and rocked with muscles. He locks your hips in place with alarge hand, fingers gripping your skin beneath your sweater.
Firm and taking what he wants without a second thought, his lips are intoxicating. The roughness of his mustache tickles your lip in an itching way, more than likely leaving a burn behind in his feverish take on your mouth.
His hair is soft in your grip, and you nearly roll your eyes thinking about his hair care routine, but you find yourself rolling your eyes in a different way when you feel his cock bulging through his pants.
Thick and heavy against your thigh, if you had to take a guess it was probably as veiny as his forearms were. And you stifle a moan when it kicks up.
His teeth bite at your lip and you yelp in pain, a noise that only drives him further into you, his hand tightens around your ponytail and yanks your neck further back so your head hits the door.
His shirt is fisted into your hand and you pull him further into you, sliding your tongue against his—sharing the taste of your fresh blood and his spearmint spit.
You scratch at his scalp with your dull nails and he fights back a melty groan.
“Such a fucking brat.” He breathes, as his fingers work the hem of your crew neck up, his fingers feel like lightening strikes against your body, and you welcome the dulled pain with a moan, “Need’t be put in your place.”
You whine when your sweater hits the ground with a soft thud and the cool air of his office ices over your still sweat slicked skin. His lips suck deep bruises into your throat, and his fingers dip into the waistband of your shorts, shoving them down in a hurry.
Expert fingers find your clit and he smirks when you whine for more, “thought you hated me?”
You pout when his fingers come to a halt, eyes flicking open to see his confidence boasting on his stupid perfect face.
“But this pretty little pussy doesn’t, does she baby?”
“Coach,” you moan out for him, his title on your lips in a sloppy whine make him harder than he’s ever been.
His thick fingers dip into the silky warm folds of your pink pussy. The combined noises you make, echo loud in his office. “Fuck baby,” he groans, his fingers sucking up into your gummy walls, he pops them out licks the juicy wetness of your arousal from them. “So wet honey, all this for me?”
Your fingers pinch at his sweats and pull them down in a swift motion along with his boxer briefs. He’s hung more than you thought. Making any guy you had been with previous look like something in a funny museum.
His abs are sculpted and dip into a hard cut v, leading to a small patch of trimmed hair, housing the longest, thickest dick you’ve ever come across.
And you were right it was veiny.
The pretty mushroom pinked head was presenting a pearl of pre cum, so pretty it could make an angel cry. When you try to lower yourself to wrap your lips around him, he stops you.
“Not today,” he groans, fisting his hearty length, your eyes going dumb watching him, brain numb and drunk on him already, “not enough time.”
He wraps your legs around his waist and hoists you up against the wall, your bare back stings against the rough cement wall, he’s grabby, his lips pressing heat into your neck, his moan tingling your skin.
With a quick shift of his hips, your tight pussy sheaths his thick cock. And you scream out.
“Shit, fuck honey..” he’s fighting to keep composure as you are practically lifeless against the wall. His thrusts are filled with purpose and want as your ass is slammed harder and harder into the wall, clapping along like a round of applause, ankles crossed around his lower back at your Nike socks and the laces of your air forces bouncing in tandem.
He’s sweaty and grunting, with each pull from his cock brings more deep and pretty noises from you and he sucks into your shoulder again, knowing damn well his mark will last for weeks. One you’d have to explain to your friends and your teammates, and your boyfriend.
He didn’t know if you had a boyfriend and frankly he didn’t give a fuck, you were his for the time being and he would do as he pleased.
He was fucking you stupid and you were letting him, holding his neck in a lazy grip as he hammered into you, and when you tightened around him, he knew you were close, “look at me,” he begs of you, “you’re gonna come for me, yeah?”
“Yes,” you choke out, barely registering what he’s saying from the tight coiled pleasure of your orgasm ready to fire away.
His cock drags slow as your eyes connect, yours lazily spilling over with fresh tears, “who’s makin’ you feel this good, 22? Huh?”
“Y-you Coach!” you whine, nearly ready to crumble under his thick fingers when he rubs your sensitive clit.
“What was that baby girl?,” he croaked, holding back his release, “couldn’t hear you.”
“Oh fuck oh fuck mmm you, Coach Harrington! Fuck I’m coming!”
Your orgasm breaks and it’s like a dam has busted, his dick is soaked by your arousal and he’s losing any bit of cockiness he had left when your face smooths and your lips blur a pretty round ‘o’  as you hum and your body tingles.
He follows not far behind you, muttering sentences that make no sense, drunk on your pussy as he paints your walls with his release.
You’ve never seen him look hotter, his forehead rests on your chest as you both catch your breath. For a split second he shows you a sly smirk, like he actually was enjoying himself.
“you might just be my fav-”
before he can finish, before he can pull out and offer you a towel, a loud knock scared everything in him stiff. Besides his cock that went instantly soft..  his blood ran cold.
His face stares at the door, and you stare at him, your grip on his shoulders tighten.
  “Steve?”
*let me know your thoughts on this, should there be a part 2? I love hearing your comments ♥️

Note
RaMona 18, 19 and 23
OTP + CHARACTER ASK
18. What are they like when they're drunk? How do they act together? & when 1 is drunk, while the other one's sober?
Do you know that scene in the animated Wonder Woman movie (2009) where Steve Trevor takes Diana to a bar and the two start drinking, and after taking so many shots Diana is still not effected by the alcohol, but Steve is gets completely drunk. Diana even tells him something along the lines of "You thought you can outdrink an amazon, you light-weight!"
Yeah, that's Raph and Mona.
19. What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?)
I can imagine they'd sometimes fight about how a situation against a bad guy in a fight should've been handle, maybe they have different ideas and couldn't come to a compromise. They're both stubborn after all, but then after the situation is cooled down, one of them would realize the other was right after all and apologize, then they'd make up (by making out lol).
I'd say the betrayal on Lord Dregg's planet was their biggest fight overall, so after that the couple tries their best to be open and honest with one another more to avoid something like that to ever happen again. Maybe one time, during a very heated argument, Raph, completely blinded by his anger, brings up the Dregg incident as a shoot back at Mona after she insulted him. Mona freezes from his words as she goes quiet, beginning to tear up. Raph immediately realizes what he said and starts apologizing profusely. This is the first time Raph ever made her cry, which makes him start to cry, mad and ashamed of himself for bringing up such a painful subject and using it against her. This would bring the couple to finally talk about the betrayal, how it effected them both, how it hurt them, etc. and realizing how this memory is still haunting them both. After a long conversation, the couple realizes that though it was a hard moment in their lives, it made them stronger in the end. Raph would apologize to Mona for his harsh words and Mona would apologize for hurting him. They can finally move on and are ready face bigger challenges in the future, not separately, but together.
23. Who initiates cuddling more?
Raph, almost ALL the time. The boy is extremely touch starved cause he didn't get enough love and attention from rat dad. Mona never complains about it cause she loves to cuddle with her adorable boyfriend. There will just be days when Mona is doing something (sitting on the coach reading or talking to someone) and Raph just walks up to her, not saying a word and just starts embracing her. Mona doesn't react, continuing whatever she's doing as she hold him in her arms to comfort him.

I feel like I want to contain my Absolute Power feelings separately at the second as I'm reading the tie-ins in bursts, particularly the ones that aren't on my usual reading schedule, so here's what I want to say since my last update on them, after the first month of the event (I've only talked about the lead ins so far):
Absolute Power #1: The Wall turns off everyone's powers, which is bad, and manufactures a bunch of deepfake footage of various heroes doing killing, leading to riots that attack heroes in the streets. Clark gets shot. This leads to everyone going undercover or getting kidnapped and imprisoned by Amazo robots.
Lois being extremely mad that the Daily Planet got hijacked to also stream and publish this 'heroes are terrible' content is my highlight of the issue.
Ollie makes the world's most unconvincing play that he's a double agent who has betrayed the heroes and is now on Waller's side because she's 'on the right side of history' about the dangers of superheroes (he's not even trying to sound like this heel face turn is related to his values in the speech).
Absolute Power: Origins #1: people have had more coherent thoughts on this than me (Ink. Androxys,), but in terms of pivoting Amanda's story from the 1987 version of these events to what Waller's been doing for the last 20 years or so? This is handled with as much tact as possible in the reframe, while unfortunately heavily seeding the road to hell with major manipulations rather than good intentions. It's a necessary change, but I still don't think it's providing enough depth and justification for the in-your-face comically evil figure they're using Waller as right now.
Green Lantern #13: what this title should obviously be: Hal getting mad that Ollie switched sides on them. What this title is: Hal getting punched by Shark a lot while Waller questions him. There's some sort of Green Lantern resistance running here based presumably on the current arc in the title but I honestly haven't been reading Green Lantern and I can't work out how all this ties in. Kyle IS glowing like a rainbow though while looking messed up, which is very pretty. The JSA also get their asses kicked pretty hard and half of them get captured and the other half run off into hiding.
Superman #16: Clark is in surgery with Mr Terrific and Dr Midnight as you do if you need healthcare in the hero community. There's a resistance base running out of the Fortress of Solitude which has largely what looks like most of the Titans and the current Birds of Prey present, plus a few extras.
Wonder Woman #11: Justice League Dark gets hauled out of retirement as a concept for this book. Their magic gets disrupted, which various characters react to in different ways, when an Amazo turns up. Tom King's handle on half these characters seems tenuous to me; Nimue in particular seems a cypher. Bobo loses the power of speech.
Absolute Power: Task Force VII #1: so these titles are genuinely fun as they've been spread between writers and are checking in with various sections of the universe over how characters are reacting. This one is largely Shazam based: Billy, Mary and Black Adam get captured when the Amazos try to invade the Rock of Eternity, disrupting Mister Dinosaur's filing! Tonally, it's pretty on point for the characters, which I enjoyed. Steve Trevor finds out that he's supposed to be reporting to Sarge Steel, something that could never ever go wrong, given how much those two despise each other.
Absolute Power: Task Force VII #2: Doom Patrol and Aquaman team up! This was fun. What a shame neither of them have titles at present. Waller hilariously thinks the Amazo she sent to Atlantis made a treaty, rather than just beat people up. (He beat them up. It's Atlantis. What did you think was going to happen?). Basically everyone here got away and headed for the Fortress. Sarge Steel tries to frame Steve Trevor as a mole, in the most obvious move of all time (especially given Steve was obviously going to be acting like a mole).
Absolute Power: Task Force VII #3: The JSA issue! An Amazo gets infected with free will because something something absorbing Alan Scott's powers something something Starheart. Alan convinces the Amazo to let the rest of the JSA go free by going along with it to discuss what free will involves. The Oblivion Bar appears for like two pages. Also in the Steve Trevor plot, he escapes and starts sneaking around Waller's base undercover as you do to work out what's going on.
More generally; I have to say the event is doing pretty well at dipping into different parts of DC and checking in with the wider cast. That's actually something that DC's been decent about for recent events to my eye; fewer 'just a speck in a crowd' moments and more 'people without current titles actually get some focus' time. It's making the various teams of DC seem more extensive than the published titles they're appearing in right now.

Strangers in Paradise pt 2 - Diplomacy Time
Start this module here!
Previous part here!
Links to all posts for this module in the pinned post!
Block Shots: With a rebellious shout, you streak forward, your cape billowing behind you. You fly into the air above the arena, maneuvering between the gunman and his ambassador target. Above the murmuring of the crowd, your ears make out the distinctive crack of rifle fire. A veritable rain of bullets hurtles toward you and you brace yourself for the impact of intercepting them.
Time for a check! It's STR and DEX, which are 20 and 26 respectively, because we're Wonder Woman. So we only need a 4 to succeed.
Tumblr media
Deflect Bullets: You whip your bracelets through the air with dazzling speed. A hail of bullets crashes into them, sending a jarring shock through your arms and into your body. Mortals may find your "Flashing Thunder" demonstrations riveting but you still find them drastically unnerving. With a speed born of indignation, you intercept each bullet, sending them all hurling off into the open air above the arena. During the barrage, you still manage to glimpse the would-be assassin: a heavyset man with dark skin and black hair who wears workman's coveralls. The gunman looks surprised, startled by your unexpected appearance in the path of his bullets. Realizing his predicament, he drops his rifle and bolts toward the arena's exit ramp. You sail towards him and pick him up as he reaches a nearby stairwell. You swing him forcibly into the wall, knocking the wind out of him. You then deposit the gunman in the arms of the arena's security force, which is finally responding to the alarm.
Tumblr media
Okay here's the thing. I think this is a mistake in the book. The section it directs us to is an exact copy of the another section, which refers to someone being murdered. Except all three pathways that lead to this duplicate section section (including this one) specifically reference the assassination attempt being thwarted. So: we definitely did thwart the attempt and no one died, but the module is slightly messed up.
Dead Attache II [[only not?]] You return to the stage, where the emcee is valiantly trying to keep the audience members in their seats. "Please...please, everyone," the emcee please, "remain calm. Everything is under control. Everything's fine." Taking the microphone from the emcee's hands, you plead a different case. "No. Nothing is fine." you say. "A man just [[almost]] murdered another man! I do not know which set of tensions resulted in this horror but such hostilities are exactly why I am here. Millennia ago, when men fought with mere bronze swords, the Amazons came to men with the doctrine of peace. Today, when those swords have given way to guns and bombs, our message is especially vital." The audience rises to its feet in a sudden outburst of cheering and applause. You are slightly taken aback by the enthusiasm of their reaction. You wonder silently, [Why is it so hard to bring peace to the world when so many people are so hungry for it?] Selection Process: You finish the lecture on a triumphant note and return to the cool darkness backstage where you are welcomed by your closest friends on Man's World: Steve Trevor, Etta Candy, Julia Kapatelis, and her daughter, Vanessa. "You were great!" Vanessa gushes, giving you an impulsive hug. "Good ad lib," Steve says with a smile, leading you along the backstage corridors. "You really got them where they live, Diana." "I'm very proud of you, dear," Julia says. "But now comes the hard part: a task I've been wondering if even one possessed of the powers of the Greek gods can handle." As Julia opens the nearby door, you hear the cacophonous babble of a hundred squabbling ambassadors. In the course of the ensuing day, you meet with dozens of people, each eager to represent his nation on a journey to Themyscira. With the consultation of Julia, Steve, and Etta, you quickly narrow down the list of applicants. During the meeting, the arena security force informs you that the gunman has been identified as a hired killer, paid by an anonymous backer to assassinate the entire delegation from the Emirate of Kabul. The assassin has not yet been linked to any political faction, which does not keep the Kabulian ambassador from making his own conclusions regarding the employer's identity. "Obviously a terrorist from Fujara!" the Kabulian ambassador shouts. "We are extremely familiar with the backstabbing ways of our notorious mid-east 'neighbor'!" "You are just trying to gain sympathy for your own traitorous country!" the Fujaran ambassador shouts stridently. "This is nothing but a cheap ploy to generate publicity out of a tragic event!" You stride over to the pair and level a calm but steely gaze at them. They turn and look at you. "And what is this to you?" the Kabulian ambassador hisses. "A woman...and an outsider at that!"
We gotta do a Charisma check with a penalty because they're hostile, but luckily we are very charismatic so we only need a 7.
Tumblr media
Mediation: "Gentlemen," you begin. "If you have a disagreement, there are ways to solve it other than clashing like this." "Hah!" the Fujaran representative shouts emphatically. "WIth this mountain ape there is no option!" "The Fujarans never listen to reason," the Kabulian responds. "They have heads of brick!" "Quiet, both of you!" you say, cutting the argument short. "If you cannot respect on another, simply avoid further contact." "We are certain the gunman was from Fujara!" protests the Kabulian. "We demand a formal apology!" "That is an important matter, I agree," you reply firmly. "However, it is one which should be resolved at a more appropriate time. My purpose here is to select ambassadors to Themyscira, not to mediate international affairs." The two men grumble briefly but soon separate to distant corners of the room. You return to Julia, Steve, and Etta, who smile at you and compliment your success at resolving the immediate situation. Information: "Tell me about the ambassadors," you say. "They're from two small mid-east nations," Steve Trevor replies, "Fujara and the Emirate of Kabul." "The feud you saw today has its origins as far back as the middle ages," Julia adds. "And they still dispute their bordering territories." "Fujara is nominally allied with the United States while the Emirate has ties with the Soviet Union," Etta says thoughtfully. "The U.S. and the U.S.S.R. used to exert some influence over them and could normally keep the two nations from fighting. Unfortunately, Fujara and the Emirate won't listen to either side anymore." Steve frowns, continuing. "Ever since the two superpowers nearly destroyed the world during the Ares Affair, they lost a lot of credibility with their allies." "But that was all due to Ares' manipulations," you protest. "I know that and you know that, Princess," Steve replies. "But most of the world remains skeptical about the actual existence of your gods. Nevertheless, since the Ares Affair, these two nations have been at each other's throat, just looking for an excuse to declare war. And it seems there's nothing anyone can do about it." "Don't be so sure about that," Julia interrupts. "Diana, if you invited those two ambassadors to Themyscira, they just might learn some important lessons, don't you agree?" "What?!" Steve asks, incredulous. "Diana, you can only bring five ambassadors," Etta interjects. "Are they really the sort you'd want to invite?" "Etta's point is well taken, dear," Julia adds. "These two could benefit greatly from the visit...or they could ruin it all. And think of your Amazon sisters. If the visit goes poorly, they may not accept any more visitors. That would be a high price to pay. "It's your decision, Diana," Julia continues, solemnly. "Consider wisely, as I know you will."
(Bet y'all weren't expecting so much international diplomacy right out the gate, huh?)

Barrel of Monkeys

"What's this? I have winners." Tony walked in with the Iron man suit, holding a ping pong paddle that he'd grabbed from a half-naked girl that had run past him, while also holding a brief case. There were two agents in the room, both with guns and wearing suits and ties. The Mandarin was also in the room, asleep in his chair, a soda can between his two hands.
They shot at him and he blocked the bullets with the paddle before Rhodey came crashing through a window and shot them.
"What have you come as?" The Mandarin asked.
Rhodey got up and pointed the gun at Trevor's face. "You make a move, and I break your face." Rhodey pushed the reclining chair back with his foot.
"I never thought people had been hurt. They lied to me." Trevor said.
"This is the Mandarin?" Rhodey asked incredulously, looking over at Tony.
"Yeah, I know, it's. . . embarrassing."
"Hi, Trevor. Trevor Slattery." Trevor said, holding out a hand that Rhodey did not shake, but rather, slapped out of his face. "I know I'm shorter in person. A bit smaller. Everyone says that. But, um, hey, if you're here to arrest me, there's some people I'd like to roll on."
"Here's how it works, Meryl Streep. You tell him where Y/N is and he'll stop doing it."
"Doing what?" Rhodey put the gun down and it burnt his ear. Trevor cried out in pain, grabbing his ear, "Ow! That hurt! I get it! I get it! I get it! I don't know about any Y/N, but I know about the plan."
"Spill."
"Do you know what they did to my suit?" Rhodey asked.
"What? No. But I do know it's happening off the coast. Something to do with a big boat."
Suddenly, Tony could hear footsteps coming down the hallway. They were stealthily ones and he half listened to the Mandarin and half readied himself to shoot whoever came into the room.
"I can take you there." Suddenly, he screamed, scaring Rhodey who jumped. "Ole, ole, ole, ole."
His stupid motherfucking soccer team had scored.
"Tony, I swear to God, I'm gonna blow his face off." Rhodey growled.
"Oh, and this next bit may include the Vice President as well." the Mandarin continued. "Is that- is that important?"
"Somewhat" Tony said.
"Yeah, a little bit." Rhodey said.
"Definitely." Another voice replied and Rhodey and Tony spun.
"Cap?" Tony asked in annoyance and exasperation. "What are you doing here?"
"Where's Y/N?" Natasha asked.
"Killian has her." Tony replied. "And Everleigh."
"Who are they?" The Mandarin asked, pointing at them. Rhodey glared at him.
"What are you doing here?" Tony asked again.
"Y/N had been keeping in touch with us." Steve explained, lowering his shield and taking his helmet off. "We knew she'd gone missing, we were looking for her."
"Right, well, she's not here. One sec." Tony turned back to the Mandarin. "Hey, Ringo, didn't you say something about a lovely speedboat?"
🎃 :::::  🧡  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━  🧡  ::::: 🎃
Tony, Rhodey, Nat, Clint, and Steve were standing under the cover as the speedboat drove. Nat was piloting it.
"If he's right about the location, we're twenty minutes from where Y/N is." Tony said, feeling stressed. He was glad for the extra help, but also not glad for it at the same time.
"But we also have to figure out this vice president thing, right?" Rhodey asked.
"Right." Tony said, "I wonder who I'm calling right now. Oh! That's the Vice President."
Steve rolled his eyes but Clint laughed.
"Hello?" The voice was on speaker so everyone could hear.
"Sir, this is Tony Stark."
"Welcome back to the land of the living."
"We believe you're about to be drawn into the Mandarin campaign. We gotta get you somewhere safe as soon as possible."
"Mr. Stark, I'm about to eat honey-roast ham, surrounded by the Agency's finest. The presidents safe on Air Force One with Colonel Rhodes. I think we're good, here."
"Sir, this is Colonel Rhodes." Rhodey spoke up now. "They're using the Iron Patriot as a Trojan horse. They're gonna take out the President somehow. We have to immediately alert that plane."
"Okay, I'm on it. I'll have security lock it down. If need be, we can have F-22s in the air in 30 seconds. Thank you, Colonel."
"Rhodes and Stark out." Rhodey said.
Once they had hung up, that was when the real conversation began. "We can either save the president, or Y/N. We can't do both." Rhodey said.
"Sir, I have an update from Malibu." Jarvis said before anyone else could speak. "The cranes have finally arrived and the cellar doors are being cleared as we speak."
"And what about the suit I'm wearing?" Tony asked.
"The armor is now at 92%."
"That's gonna have to do." He grunted, pulling out the battery wires he'd been using to charge his suit. And then he flew up into the air. He zoomed after the jet. Maybe, with him going after the President, perhaps the others would go and save Y/N. He'd deal with this one on his own.
He could see hot boy walking through the plane and fired a shot at him through the window, before coming up behind him. He tackled him into the wall and he heard him grunt. He lifted his hand to the man's face. "The President. Now!"
"He's not here." The man hissed, grabbing the arm, causing the suit to malfunction from the heat. Tony hissed himself in pain. "Try the jet stream? Speaking of which," He saw the red button as he lifted it. "Go fish." He heard the explosion.
Tony went to hit him over the head, but now both of his arms were in the hot grip of Savin. He finally wrenched his arms away and then blasted him through the chest with his chest blaster. "Walk away from that you son of a bitch."
"How many in the air?" He shouted at Jarvis as he flew through the hole.
"Thirteen sir." Jarvis said.
"How many can I carry?"
"Four, sir."
Tony zoomed as fast as he could go, catching one of the women first. She was screaming hysterically, not that he could blame her. "Slow down. Slow down, relax. What's your name? Heather?"
The plane exploded above him and she stopped screaming incessantly and started screaming words. "Oh God! No! No!"
"Listen to me. See that guy?" He pointed at one that was falling past him. "I'm gonna swing by him. You're just gonna grab him. You got it?"
"What? Oh!"
"I'll electrify your arm. You won't be able to open your hand." He informed her. "We can do this Heather." He was proud that she already had one arm out to the side, her hand open, ready to grab.
There was a bit of a struggle, but finally she managed to grab him. "Easy, see? Eleven more to go."
They were all still screaming around him. "Remember that game called barrel of monkeys? That's what we're going to do."
"Eighteen thousand feet." Jarvis informed him.
"Come on, people. Grab your monkey."
He watched as two more men were added to the chain. "Nice." Arms wrapped around him from behind.
"Ten thousand feet."
Two more.
"Six thousand feet."
"Come on, people." There was a difficulty on the end farthest from him. "Come on, come on, come on!" Two more people added. "YEAH!"
"One thousand feet. Four hundred feet. Two hundred feet, sir."
"He's a chunky monkey, let's get him. Hello." He said as the one on the end grabbed him. Tony boosted upwards as best as he could and they rose up once more, the ones on the bottom of the weird pyramid, their feet brushing the water.
And then Tony slowed down, letting all of them fall into the water. He turned around and saw that they had all surfaced, and were cheering him on.
"Nice work guys." He said, pleased with himself, and with them. "Excellent. Good team effort all around. Go us. All right Jarvis. But it's only half-done. We've still got to get Y/N-" He turned and flew straight into a truck, the armor scattering everywhere.
He winced and then opened his eyes. "That came out of nowhere." He sighed with relief and then winced again when sunlight streamed into the cabin space that he'd been controlling the suit remotely from.
"Give me some good news man." Rhodey said from behind him.
"I think they all made it."
"Oh thank God." Rhodey said.
"Yeah, but I missed the President."
"You couldn't save the President with the suit, how are we going to save Y/N with nothing?" Rhodey asked, walking away.
"Uh- say Jarvis, is it that time?"
"The House Party Protocol sir?"
"Correct."
He thought about the space that he had hidden under the house. The circular platform that even Y/N didn't know about because he didn't want her to worry. Didn't want want her to see how many suits he had made because he couldn't sleep. All the suits that he made when he could have been sleeping next to her.
He was angry with himself for not spending those nights with her. He had wasted so much time and now she could die.
He had to do better.
He would.
He had to.
🎃 :::::  🧡  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━  🧡  ::::: 🎃
You came to with a start, feeling a warmth coursing through your veins. At least it wasn't the burning hot pain that had caused you to pass out. It had felt as though your insides were melting with the most painful of fire.
"Hi." Killian said as you jerked, seeing him.
You breathed in deeply, your lungs feeling weird, as you surveyed the place around you. It was a workshop of some kind, with metal scaffolding and forklifts.
"You think he's gonna help you?" You asked with a scoff, shaking your head. "He won't."
Killian stepped forward, placing a hand on the metal that kept you locked in place. You couldn't move.
"Having you here is not just to motivate Tony Stark. It's, um- Well, it's actually more embarrassing than that." He gave a little laugh. "You're here as my um-"
"Trophy." You snarled.
He laughed again and then hummed in agreement.
You looked away before you heard metal footsteps and looked up in hope. At first, that hope flickered when you saw it was not Tony, but it still bubbled there because it was Rhodey and you knew that Rhodey would help you.
"Good evening sir."
And then the suit opened and the President of the United States dropped to his knees out of the container. You felt horror wash over you and the sense of helplessness was there as well. If only you could help the President.
Your hands pressed against the bonds, wishing you could lift your shoulders so you could free them.
Yes, you didn't trust the Government as a whole. But there were still good, individual people in there. And you believed that this President was one of them. He had done things on live television to try and keep the Mandarin from killing people. He didn't listen when his advisors told him not to.
"Welcome aboard, Mr. President." Killian grinned.
He led the President away and you were alone again. You banged your head back against the metal and hoped that something would happen soon.
🎃 :::::  🧡  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━  🧡  ::::: 🎃
Tony followed Rhodey as they sneaked along the dark side of the boat. Steve followed behind him. Nat and Clint had gone their own own way, probably to find high ground for Clint.
The three of them made their way up a ladder and then darted through the dark. They had to stay in stealth mode because Rhodey had one gun, Tony had one gun, and Steve had a shield. That was it and no protection for the first two.
"You're not gonna freak out on me, right?" Rhodey hissed to Tony.
"I hope not." Tony replied and Steve shot him a look.
They made their way closer to the blue structure where cameras were being pointed and lights were being shown.
In the middle of the scene on the ground was a lit up Christmas tree with a star on top. Hung above that in the Iron Patriot suit was the President.
"Oh my God." Rhodey whispered and then came back to tell the two of them, "He's strung up over the oil tanker. They're gonna light him up, man."
"You two go to him." Steve said. "I'll get Y/N and Everleigh."
It did not sit well with Tony that the glorious Steve Rogers that Howard Stark loved and adored more than his own son was going to save his wife and daughter.
"Viking funeral. Public execution." Tony muttered to Rhodey, ignoring Steve.
"Yeah, death by oil." Rhodey said, giving Steve the 'wait a minute' look.
The three of them darted across the opening, heading for the stairs and started to head up them.
"Broadcast to commence shortly. Take final positions."
"Is your gun up?" Rhodey asked as they neared the top of the stairs.
Tony immediately lifted his gun. "Yep. What do I do?"
Steve sighed and made a quick motion like he was going to take the gun, then thought better of it.
"Stay on my six, cover high, and don't shoot me or Cap in the back." Rhodey said.
"Six, high, back. All right." Tony rattled off, nervous. He'd never shot a gun in his life before today. And he really did not have good aim.
"Clint has high ground already." Steve muttered to them. "On your eight."
Tony looked up randomly, but could see the bird blending in with the night, his arrows already slotted in his bow.
"Nat's looking for Y/N." Steve muttered.
The shooting happened almost immediately. Tony shot, but he wasn't sure he hit more than glass. Steve's shield flew out, slicing the man's head off before coming back to Steve. The Captain looked a little sick. "I didn't mean to throw so hard."
"Don't get soft now." Tony shouted as he ducked from more gunshots, following Rhodey. "See that, nailed it."
"Yeah, you really killed the glass." Rhodey replied sarcastically. Tony heard a somewhat familiar whistling sound and saw someone fall from Clint's arrow.
"You think I was aiming for the bulb?" Tony asked. "You can't hit a bulb at this distance."
Rhodey immediately got up, fired once, and all of the glass shattered out of the light.
"All personnel, we have hostiles on east unit 12."
"Over there!"
"They're coming!" Steve shouted, the shield flying in the air again.
"That's what she said." Tony muttered and Rhodey snickered.
"I'm out." Tony said, checking his gun. "Give me- You got extra magazines?"
"They're not universal, Tony." Rhodey sighed in exasperation.
"I know what I'm doing. I make this stuff. Give me another one." Tony demanded. "One of yours."
"I don't got one that fits that gun."
"Are you two going to argue all day?" Steve shouted, kicking another bad guy in the chest.
"You have like five of them! Okay, here's what I'm gonna do. Save my spot, ready?" He hopped up.
"What'd you see?"
"To fast, nothing."
"Stark!" Steve grunted, leaping over the box to land in front of the two of them. "What are you doing?"
"Out of ammo." Tony snapped, pissed at the stupid soldier. Tony stood up and looked over and then called out to Rhodey, "Three guys. One girl. All armed."
The three of them stood and Tony could see that they were all glowing under the skin. None of them had done that up till this point and Steve looked at Tony. "They're glowing."
"It's fire." Tony shot back.
"God, I would kill for some armor right now." Rhodey hissed.
"You're right. We need backup."
"Yeah, a bunch."
"You know what?" Tony asked, watching more of them come.
Rhodey squinted into the distance and Steve shielded his eyes with his hand.
"Is that-?"
"Yep." Tony replied, pleased with himself.
"Barton?" Steve asked in his coms and Tony wished he could hear.
"Are those-"
"Yeah."
"Merry Christmas buddy." Tony said, patting Rhodey on the shoulder as all of the Iron Man suits- nearly fifty of them- settled into the air around the place.
"Jarvis, target EXTREMIS heat signatures. Disable with extreme prejudice."
"Yes, sir." They all responded.
"That's creepy." Steve muttered.
"What are you waiting for? It's Christmas." He made random hand motions and then threw his hands up into the air dramatically. "Take them to church."
Steve made an offended sound in the back of his throat. He'd forgotten spangles was a Christian. Oh well, he could get over it.
"Incoming!" Tony shouted as one of the parts of the Iron Man suit came flying towards them. It exploded below them. "Jarvis, get Igor to steady this thing." Tony demanded.
Steve put his shield on his back, picking up Tony's empty gun and loading it with ammo, sliding it into his own holster. Tony decided to let him keep it as a Christmas present.
"This is how you've been managing your down time, huh?" Rhodey asked him as they crouched.
"Everybody needs a hobby." Tony explained. He looked around, watching the drones take out everyone that had the heat signatures they were targeting. Clint was still above, knocking people out with arrows through their necks, one by one.
"Heartbreak, help red snapper out, will you?" Tony commanded.
"Did you name all of them?" Steve asked, flinging his shield to knock one of the fiery bastards off of one of the suits.
"Duh, they're my children." Tony responded before ducking as there was a huge fiery explosion from one of his suits crashing into something.
"Nice timing." Tony said as one of the suits landed in front of him and opened up. He stepped inside and it closed around him.
"Oh, yeah. That's awesome. Give me a suit, okay?" Rhodey asked, sticking his arms out like Tony had. Steve rolled his eyes, grabbing his shield and then touched his com.
"Oh, I'm sorry. They're only coded to me." Tony replied.
"What does that mean?"
"I've got you covered." Tony said, blasting off and telling Jarvis to go and pick Rhodey up.
He saw Steve running towards one of the burning buildings and Clint was climbing down from where he had been before.
"Sir, I've located Mrs. Stark."
"About time." Tony said harshly.
Tony headed to where Jarvis was telling him that she was located and found her lying under a pile of debris. He was almost certain that Y/N was unconscious. He picked up a piece of scrap to move it and she jolted as things started to fall.
"Stop! Put it down. Put it down. Put it down." Y/N said quickly, eyes round with fear.
Tony knelt down and let the face plate pop open, "See what happens when you hang out with my ex-girlfriends?"
Y/N managed him a small smile and then said, "You're such a jerk."
"Yep. We'll talk about it over dinner." He said, extending a hand for her to take. She reached for him, struggling. "Come on, a little more baby."
Y/N grunted and their fingers touched before Tony gasped as a melted hand shot out of the floor and burned and entire hole through his chest.
Tony fell backwards.
"Is this guy bothering you?" Killian's voice asked. "Don't get up." He said, appearing over Tony. He pressed a glowing finger to Tony's chest. "Ooh, is it hot in there? Stuck? Do you feel a little stuck? Like a little turtle, cooking in his little turtle suit."
"Tony." Y/N gasped.
"She's watching." Killian hissed. "I think you should close your eyes. Close your eyes. Close your eyes, you don't want to see this."
He raised his hand, probably to stab Tony in the face or something, but Tony never gave him a chance. As Killian's arm swung down, Tony released a blade, letting Killian cut his own arm off, which flopped away.
At the same time that Killian started to gasp in pain, Natasha was suddenly leaping down, flipping him over her shoulder so that he hit his head against the metal. Suddenly, Y/N uttered a little scream and there was the sound of metal crashing.
"I found Everleigh!" Natasha shouted over at him. Her face was streaked with grime and soot from the flames. "She's with Clint now."
Tony nodded his thanks, getting out of his suit. He could hear stuff moving and could hear Y/N shouting for him. He watched as she got pulled one way because something had hit a cable wire. He immediately started to run with it. "Nat, get back to Rhodey and Steve. I've got Y/N."
He ran, knowing that there was a guy behind him, and leaped from one yellow stairwell to another. A flying suit hit the guy following so that he never made the jump.
He could see Y/N holding on tightly to the junk that she was laying upon, watching him with fearful eyes. Tony started sprinting along the runway, seeing the endpoint. "Jarvis, give me a suit right now!"
One suit got blasted out of the sky. Another appeared in front of him, but the moment he attempted to get into it, it was flung out of the way and smashed against a metal pole. He tucked and rolled out of the missed attempt and muttered, "Come on!"
Tony heard another explosion, and looked over just in time to see Rhodey hanging above the explosion, his hands wrapped around one of the cables that held the President up.
He didn't have time to see if they made it to safety.
He leapt out into the air and landed harshly on a support beam.
"President is secure Tony. I'm gonna start securing the area. Clint and Everleigh are with him."
"Nice work." Tony said.
He climbed up onto the hold where Y/N dangled above him. There was still space and he braced himself to the best of his ability and reached out. "Y/N I got you. Relax I got you."
She nodded, but didn't let go, her fingers white around the grip of the pole. She was hanging upside down, staring at him with wide eyes. She was terrified, but holding it together.
"Honey, I can't reach any further and you can't stay there." He said. "You've gotta let go."
He saw the determination in her eyes and she didn't hesitate, letting go of the pole. He saw her eyes relax, knowing that he would catch her. She was falling perfectly, and then the entire thing lurched. Her eyes widened again.
"NO!" He shouted, and he reached out. She twisted in midair, missing his hands, but grabbing the beam below him.
She hung above the firey mess below her. He bent down to help her, grabbing her wrist, but the maneuver was to strange and he couldn't pull her up any farther. Killian suddenly walked up, heading towards him.
"Fight him Tony." Y/N gasped. "I can help myself."
Her fingers were slipping, he could see that. But he also knew that she was right.
And then, just as he stood to meet Killian, Killian threw something at her. She let go on instinct and her eyes widened.
He felt his soul leave his body and watched as Y/N was consumed by the flames.

MR. BUNGLE MELVINS  ☆ SPOTLIGHTS ★ The Showbox, Seattle
  Photo Review by Chris Schanz
One might ask what would bring me out of retirement? Was I retired? What the hell have I been doing for the past three years? All things Doomed and Stoned have been in flux for me. I’ve been focusing on my day job. I’ve been focusing on my family. I’ve been focusing on my garden. All this focusing has left me nearsighted. Blurry. The COVID era left me with a shitty hangover (not long COVID – I’m just trying to forget that shit and move on!). Sure – I’ve shot shows, band portraits, weddings, funerals yadda yadda fucking yadda. I wanted a sign that the universe is ready for my gifts, once again.
Enter Mr. Bungle and The Melvins. The Geek Show Tour, sponsored by Ipecac Records celebrates both the vast accomplishments of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle) and The Melvins – on their 40th anniversary! The perfect lure to get me off my ass and feel like I actually can contribute something to music, art and photography in general without licking the taint of Instagram and an AI-generated algorithmic overlord soon set to devour us, Titans, Gods and all.
The Showbox at the Market is the perfect set. I feel at home there, usually right by the soundboard. So many shows seen there – Sonic Youth, Nudedragons (Soundgarden), Brothers Of the Sonic Cloth, Sleep, Uncle Acid, Bell Witch, Graveyard, Chelsea Wolfe, The Black Angels – on and on, and on and on. It’s by far Seattle’s best concert hall, IMHO.
SPOTLIGHTS
I admit. I wasn’t prepared for Spotlights. A buddy of mine in Denver by way of San Francisco said they’re sweetly DOOMY. I was in. I got three songs to fall in love. Head over heels! Words escape my brain, only memories of sweet, subsonic joy flowing through my chest and brain. I followed up with Sarah Quintenero after the show at the merch booth, loading up on their vinyl. I’m blasting “Tidals” on vinyl while writing this in my cave, but “Alchemy for the Dead” is a MASTERPIECE! I’ve been binging on their Bandcamp all week now. Bold, deep bass fuzz, ethereal vocals and serrated guitar riffs. My new summer soundtrack.
They’re still on tour – and I highly advise you to see them now!

MELVINS
This brings me back to the Melvins. The force that shaped my twenties in Seattle. My band Fuzzbud had a six-degrees-of-Kevin Bacon thing with a Morton, WA / Monteseno, WA, somebody’s cousin played in a band that opened for…whatevs. We tuned to DUH flat and had a good time. BUT…The Melvins were always a mainstay in any of my playlists.
King Buzzo did NOT disappoint! I was singing along from the photo pit. I was kidding beforehand that there should be some sort of SNL skit – a play by play commentary of the photo pit action. Think Howard Cosell announcing each of the photogs falling over each other for the shots. I thought it was funny, anyways. I’m a dork.
ANYWHOO. Buzzo provides! Dale’s a GOD. I got my HEALTHY fix of Houdini, culminating in a THREE BASS OVERLOAD on Night Goat with Sara Qintenero from Spotlights and Trevor Dunn from Mr. Bungle joining Steve McDonald to rumble your bunghole. What did I miss by NOT seeing the tour finale in San Francisco? A reunion of Fantomas (Mike, Buzz and Dave Lombardo)! When these guys get together, (black) magic always happens!

MR. BUNGLE
The main event. I knew they led with the Mr. Rogers theme on most nights. ADORABLE! But to my surprise, and delight! They performed the John Sebastian theme to “Welcome Back Kotter”! FUCK YES. I’m a Sweathog and everyone knows it! We would also be treated to the Pepto Bismol jingle not too far into the set.
I was wanting, wishing for a few more songs from 1991’s Mr. Bungle release, primarily some “Squeeze Me Macaroni” and “Stubb-A-Dub” action. Stubb was my go-to track in our house in college. After many a trip, I believed I was the proverbial “family dog” to our tribe…just elated to be along for the ride scrambling from party to party. Luckily for me, I got some “My Ass Is On Fire” and I was satiated. “Speak Spanish Or Die” brought me right back to my thrash and skating days (Days. Rolled my ankle on the half-pipe and drove the crew to all the spots after that). Van Halen’s Loss of Control? A TOTAL surprise and I was elated! Ear to ear grins and giggles!
I came for the Melvins, Mike Patton and Dave Lombardo, but I left with a deep adoration for Spotlights and a 365-day calendar of “The Many O-Faces of Scott Ian” and that’s more than OK. I’m in love. Thank you, Scott, for fulfilling this schoolboy’s adolescent dreams, 30 years later!

The thing I like most about Wonder Woman Earth One is the coalesce and re interpretation of the character’s lore into almost a religious mythology. It takes the questionable bondage stuff from the earliest comics and turns it on its head into a very thought-provoking philosophy. Grant Morrison really brings alive the world of the Amazons and the message that Diana ends up bringing to man’s world. Its not just about the subjugation of women, but about the crimes man does to itself. Making Steve Trevor a POC is a good choice because you have a man who’s generationally made to submit to other man,
The first volume is a little shaky and put me off when I first read it. It’s pretty much the hospital scene when Wonder Woman encounters death and believes it to be a folly of man’s world. She also saves a bus of less ideal looking women and laments how man’s world has misshapen their figure. It was just kind of weird and off putting the first time I read it. But once I figured out that it was a part of Diana’s journey to accept things beyond her own understanding.
WWEO has so much to say that it kind of gets lost at the breakneck pace of this series. If you read it, it’s better to go all at once rather than taking a break between volumes because each one feels incomplete without the other. The art and coloring are gorgeous without too many obligatory exploitative shots you would expect with a book taking place on a “island of Lesbians” as earth one Etta Candy calls it.
Anyone interested in Wonder Woman should give this series a chance. It gives you something that many modern interpretations of the character seem to struggle with. An underlying philosophy to Wonder Woman that gives the character those defining words like “with great power comes great responsibility”.

Recently, I received a treasure trove of documents from a source inside the CDC showing they knew for over 20 years that Wakefield was right: vaccines cause autism.
Steve Kirsch
Nov 17, 2024
Executive summary
I recently received a treasure trove of electronic documents from deep inside the CDC. These documents have never been made publicly available.
The documents include voice-recordings, emails, hand-written notes, diagrams, and data.
The claim that “vaccines don’t cause autism” is simply very inconsistent with this evidence.
I am working with Trevor Fitzgibbon to pitch this to all the mainstream media so that I’m not talking to an echo chamber with this data. It is much better if we can get the blue-pilled media to red-pill their peers; it’s unlikely to happen any other way.
This is a huge scandal and our kids having been paying the price for decades all because the CDC doesn’t want to publicly admit they were wrong
I spoke with a top journalist at Inside Edition who thought that it’s one of the biggest stories of the decade. He said he would try to interest his friends at 60 Minutes and other outlets in viewing the data (the story is too big for IE).
I will keep you apprised.
I expect we will get a “not interested in seeing the evidence” from every major mainstream outlet even though the documents can be authenticated by people inside and outside the CDC.
I’ve sent the documents to others on our side (just in case something happens to me).
This evidence confirms what Brian Hooker found when reanalyzing the CDC autism study done by DeStefano
The Hooker paper is published in the scientific peer-reviewed literature. See the 3.86 odds ratio? See the .005 p-value.
The people who claim there is no evidence in the peer-reviewed literature that vaccines cause autism are lying to you. 3.86 is a train wreck. If the MMR shots are safe, the OR values here should all be 1.

BIOGRAPHY
Steve is from different world than the one he currently lives in, a member of the United States Army and the British Intelligence, he’s a spy and very a good one, one of the best and a valuable member of the team. In 1918 during World War I, he stole plans for a new form of mustard gas that would ensure the victory for the German Empire, he succeeded but in his escape the Germans followed him, and shot his plane down where he crashed landed in the waters off the coast of Themyscira an island inhabited by the Amazons who were cut off from the rest of the world. This is when he met Diana, Princess of Themyscira who was meeting a man for the first time in her life. After a battle with the Germans that left the Amazon Antiope dead who sacrificed herself to save Diana, Steve was put on trial before Hippolyta and with the Lasso Of Hestia made to tell the truth revealing a war was taking place in the outside world, a war that Diana believed to be the result of Ares, God of War. While the Amazons decided what to do with him Steve was held in a healing chamber and busted out by Diana who wanted him to help her get to the outside world so she could stop Ares, he agreed and off they went, over the course of their journey, Steve and Diana became close and eventually a connection was made. Diana helped them make progress in the war and Steve was starting to believe the things she told him. Eventually the end of their journey came and Diana came face to face with Ares, and while the two fought Steve figured out what the Germans were planning to do, drop mustard gas in populated areas of the United States and their allies, with millions of lives at stake Steve decided to take the plane that carried the mustard gas as high as he could and detonate it, which he did killing himself in the process. This gave Diana the push she needed to stop Ares, and his death would affect her for years to come.
Fast forward to 1984, sixty six years after Steve’s death Diana who now works at the Smithsonian unintentionally wished for Steve back and which he did, in the body of another. Confused of how he was back, he wasted no time in looking for Diana and when he found her she almost left until he spoke the words he did to her back in 1918 and she realized it was him, and the two reunited after so long. Though Diana started to suspect something was up as she felt something she never did in her long life, after doing research she learned that the Dreamstone granted wishes but took something in return, in Diana’s case it was her powers, after seeing the world was falling into chaos and on the verge of ending, Steve begged her to renounce her wish so her powers could return and she could save the day, with reluctance she did and Steve went back to being dead.
Fast forward again to 2017, nearly a hundred years since Steve’s death, and long after Diana discovered the gods were still alive and not dead as she had been told, Zeus found a way to bring back Steve. He was revived three months after the defeat of Steppenwolf, and Diana, skeptical at first, made sure he was actually back before being filled with joy at his actual return. Thanks to Zeus, Steve was caught up in the world and was now re-employed. Instead of the British Intelligence, he was now with the United States Intelligence, despite living in Paris, France, with Diana and conducting his missions from there. Steve is glad to be back to have a second chance with Diana. Though he finds Diana very overprotective of him, not wanting him anywhere too dangerous, though his need to help people is stronger than ever, Diana reveals she’s not sure how she’d react if she lost him a third time. It has been four years since his resurrection, and he now enjoys a life with Diana, having asked for her hand in marriage.

Trevor leaned back a little on the couch as he just looked to Steve, taking in every little thing the man did. He and Robin had worked hard on this plan, even though it was pretty basic and he was going to do anything he could to help the floppy haired man accept who he was "No one's saying you're gay Steve... Ok someone probably is but they probably just think there's only gay and straight as options" he said as he stood up and started walking over towards the other man "I am saying you give off serious bi boy energy and as someone who spends his nights being hit on by straight guys who think I'm a cis woman, I know when a guy is turned on by a woman or a guy and... well, either my pecs look more like boobs than normal or you're liking what I'm showing" he was now just standing right in front of Steve, giving him a kind smile and reaching to take his hands "Steve, I've seen you checking me out both when you come to a show and when we're just hanging out, seen you check out other women and guys so... I think you and I both know you might not be gay but you're not totally straight, and that's cool... means a lucky guy might have a shot with your awesome ass" he said trying to be as comforting and sweet as could be as he looked right into the other man's eyes.

Open to: m/nb, more dominant and top leaning
Connections/plots: Steve has struggled with the fact that he likes men and women. Your muse has finally had enough of watching him struggle with it and cooked up a scheme with Robin to get your muse and Steve alone, helping him get over the confusion and worry above it all. Steve is 21 in this thread, and other muses are expected to be 21 or older.
"Listen, it's not like that." An outright lie. They both knew it, but there had to be an attempt made. More out of some weird sense of obligation to the whole lady killer vibe that he had spent so much time crafting. The two could coexist, but that wasn't something that his mind would allow himself to recognize. Not yet. Not when he has avoided the whole idea for so long. "It's not like I'm gay...." Steve was never the most elegant with words, and the pattern held true. Yet, his eyes couldn't tear away from the shirtless individual in front of him.

Beach- Steve Trevor
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Trevor x Reader (Platonic)
Characters:  Steve Trevor
Warnings: N/A
Request: N/A
Word Count: 401
Author: Aaron
“Don’t… shoot?” Sundered and torn the strange, sopping wet uniform clung tightly onto the mans body as he lay in the sand. His eyes locked onto the arrowhead that sat still mere inches from his face.
“We do not take kindly to visitors here. Who are you?” You withdrew the gleaming arrow but kept a wary eye on not only him but the rocky outcrop overlooking the lengthened strand of beach, knowing that your fellow Themysciran warriors would not give such mercy. Trembling hands sat at his side, he answered as if he did not even know his own name. “I would speak quickly.” You saw him hear the thundering horses’ hooves running towards the ridge, staring into his eyes you alerted him to the danger the fierce women astride them would bring.
“Steve.” He jolted, his ears pricked to the ever enclosing roar.
“That is a peculiar name but… who am I to judge the culture of others. I am y/n of the Amazonians.”
“Are we going to talk about names, or can you help me get out of here?” With a groan and a wince, he pushed himself up from the silky sand, his face slowly dropped into a frown of despair as he realised the beach that stretched for as far as the eye could see, had nowhere to hide. “What are we meant to do!?”
“I am going to stand here, and you are going to become target practice.” A slight chuckle fell from your lips as pure panic set into Steve’s eyes. “Relax, relax. You won’t get hurt as long as you co-operate. How did you get here?”
“I’m about to be turned into a human colander and you want to ask me about my method of transportation? Can’t we save this for after we escape death.” A damp hand wrapped around your wrist and with all his might he tried to pull you along the beach.
“Nobody said anything about ‘we’.” You pulled against him, sending him flying back past you.
“I’m sorry. Before I escape certain death now can we please just go… If it isn’t you guys that’ll kill me the German’s will finish me off no problem.”
“The Germans?”
“Yeah you know… Germans? The war? The bad guys?” You grabbed tightly onto his wrist and swiftly began to make your way down the beach, knowing that you had to inform the queen.
