🥺 nico being so sad in his new marriage. he wanted so badly to be part of a warm, loving family and thought he would get it with toto but he feels so alone. he still does his duty though and when they are invited to a picnic in the park with one of toto's business associates he knows he should play the devoted young wife, smiling sweetly and telling all the other omegas how kind and caring toto is. and toto plays along as well, telling people that nico is clever and funny, and being affectionate in a way that makes nico want to curl up and cry because this is all he's ever wanted but it's an act and he knows toto won't do this at home.
and when seb falls into the pond, splashing furiously because he doesn't know how to swim yet, nico doesn't even think about it before he's rushing in to rescue him, letting the little cub cling to him as he wades back to the edge. when toto wraps his coat around nico and insists that they leave to get them both warm and dry again nico thinks that it's because he's embarrassed toto with his behaviour and ruined dress. sebby clings to nico in the carriage because pretty stepmomma saved him even though he's been a mean little cub, but nico is worried about toto's reaction and when toto whisks seb off to give him a warm bath when they get home he thinks its because toto doesn't want him around seb.
nico dismisses the servants and doesn't come down for supper, shivering alone in his little nest. later sebby sneaks into nico's room to curl up in his nest too and finds nico burning up and coughing. nico won't wake up, so seb rushes to get papa, and toto realises that nico has fallen ill. toto tends to nico himself, his heart breaking when nico rambles deliriously that toto hates him and is ashamed of him
Plss!! Toto having agreed to the marriage because Toto seems like a warm person and hr has his cub, so it can be the family Nico always wanted after maybr he lost his own family 🥺 and yes, Toto is very warm and sweet towards his cub and it makes Nico so soft to see that, but he just wishes he was on the receiving end of that affection too... But Toto thinks Nico doesn't want to be involved and as much as he wants Nico to be there, part of the family, he keeps a respectful distance and both are sad about it...
If there is anything Nico knows, it's acting though. He can plaster on the most fake smile and gush about how good Toto is as an Alpha and how sweet Seb is, such a well-behaved perfect heir! He talks about what he wishes was reality and then hears Toto compliment him too so much, making sure to emphasise how clever Nico is more than just being a beautiful peacock Omega, and even puts an arm around Nico and Nico wants to cry because why can he never get this in private he feels so alone...
Even Sebby is on his best behaviour and let's Nico stroke his ears a little when he comes to cling to Toto's leg and Nico tries so hard not to cry because it's so cruel to be shown what he can't have. Toto being a little confused when Nico smells sad under the perfume he is wearing, assumes Nico just doesn't like these public events and keeps his arm around Nico to try and soothe him but Nico won't meet his eye.
Nico watching Seb run around and when he sees Seb fall into the pond, splashing in a panic because cub can't swim yet, Nico rushes over and jumps in without a second thought. Seb whining snd clinging to him as Nico wades and swims back to shore. Toto picking Seb up and then helping Nico out, quickly wrapping him in his coat because Nico is shivering and he is worried, but Nico misunderstands and thinks he is just an embarassemen, makeup and hair ruined and the expensive green dress Toto had made foe Nico ripped and soaked with pond water.
Maybe Nico is just in a dry slip dress and toto's coat when they go back in the carriage, Toto tucking another blanket around Nico and pls little sebby wanting to be on Nico's lap and purring because his pretty stepmomma doesn't hate him even if he was a mean cub!
Toto whisking Seb off for a warm bath and when he is sure that Seb is safe soaking in the warm water with his favorite servant making sure he doesn't try to go diving in the bath tub, Toto goes to Nico's chambers but is informed Nico doesn't want to see anyone and Toto assumes Nico is bathing too and wants to give him privacy!
Nico being so cold and alone, in his tiny nest huddled under Toto's coat and just feeling like such a failure, not even able to play his role as perfectly mannered wife! He also doesn't feel good, shivers wracking his body and his head aching and he so wants his Alpha to hold him🥺
Sebby sneaking into Nico's room cos he is gonna be a good boy and say thank you! But when he curls up against Nico's stomach, Nico doesn't react and just coughs and shivers and it scares Sebby who rushes to get papa, sobbing that momma is sick!
Toto being so worried seeing Nico so feverish and out of it, whimpering a lot and babbling about how his husband hates him and how he failed his family by being an embarassement and a bad Omega and Toto just holds him, feeding him bits of food and sips of water and nosing Nico, whispering sweet nothings into his hair about how much he adores Nico qnd how he thinks he is falling for him...
It takes a few days for Nico to feel better and Toto barely leaves his side, and if he does, Sebby is there curled up on the bed next to Nico and trying to fluff up the nest with the little Omega pup instincts he has!
Nico being so shy and embarassed when he becomes coherent, apologies for making a scene but Toto just hugs him so tight, whispering Nico can never be too much, can never let Toto down because he is perfect, and both him and Sebby adore him!

Finished 4th rewatch of season 3 pt1, and there is no way that Tilly Arnold isn't connected to Sophie!!! She is so evil stepmother coded, and that convo she was having with her solicitor?!?! That could totally be about Sophie's father and his will or whatever (haven't read the book and don't plan on it, but I know it's the Cinderella trope).
At the very least, that scene with the solicitor is important in some way. I doubt that they would put it in for no reason (though it is possible)
Lastly, just the icing on my theory cake, I think she's trying to fall pregnant with Benedict's child and trap him into marrying her

really annoying when im reading a book or something and they say something will happen in (let's say) 15 minutes, so the characters chat while they wait, and in no world would the conversation put down on paper take 15 minutes to have. when i wrote and this type of situation would happen, i would actually act out my dialogue to make sure it could believably take the amount of time it was supposed to take. annoying that everyone doesnt have my work ethic....

seeing jonathan bailey in wicked made me remember how absolutely incredible he is in the second season of bridgerton and just how good that season is in the first place. so anyways i’m back in a bit of a bridgerton swing and i was just thinking about how it’s so funny that the bridgertons are one of the most prestigious families of the ton and yet literally every single sibling has a major scandal with their partner. (this is going off both the books and the show)
daphne and simon get caught in the garden, simon and anthony duel, and daphne and simon are forced to marry (this is literally the tamest scandal by far)
anthony nearly marries kate’s sister but he literally makes googoo eyes at kate during the fucking wedding so edwina catches them and ends her wedding that THE QUEEN LITERALLY SET UP
benedict falls in love a maid, sophie, at his house (it’s a little more complicated than that, but this is the short version), sophie gets fucking ARRESTED for stealing from her stepmom, benedict marries her anyways. also sophie is an illegitimate daughter. and the scandal of benedict marrying ‘below his status’ forces them to move out to the country to get away from the ton
COLIN MARRIES LADY WISTLEDOWN
eloise runs away from home to go decide if she wants to marry her pen pal. her brothers find her and basically force them to get married so it doesn’t create a scandal. (said pen pal is literally MARINA’S WIDOWED HUSBAND, so this is going to be even messier in the show if they don’t change it because then she’s going to marry the husband of colin’s ex and penelope’s cousin which is… interesting)
francesca starts out normal, but then she marries the cousin of her dead husband, who they’re making a woman in the show, which means she’s gonna be GAY which is gonna make an even bigger scandal
hyacinth is basically a scandal just in and of herself because basically all the men of the ton are scared of her. but then she helps lady danbury’s GRANDSON break into his dad’s house to search for hidden diamonds (said dad is also not actually his dad (he mom cheated with his uncle) and also hates him and wants to ruin him). (this is my favorite book by far.)
you think it can’t get any messier and then gregory goes and becomes the most unhinged bridgerton to date. he falls in love with this girl, lucy, except she’s already betrothed to someone and he literally RUNS IN AND INTERRUPTS LUCY’S WEDDING and asks her to marry him instead and she fucking says NO. but then it’s revealed that she’s being blackmailed and they end up together. also at one point he ties her up in a closet so she doesn’t try and sabotage herself.
anyways, poor violet bridgerton. she seriously never gets a break from her children

i think i've said it before but im so thankful for the theloise subreddit cuz its such a safe space for ppl who actually like eloise. it's literally the only bridgerton-related subreddit where people don't hate eloise (which is the most important part), don't think she's immature, don't want her to become a stepford wife, and don't think the grand culmination of her journey is becoming a stepmom in the countryside. like i don't even have to talk about theloise, i could just post about eloise and how much i love her and everyone in the comments will be like "yuppp exactly me too 😌😌😌"
i wasnt even that big a theloise shipper (i liked creloise more) after watching bridgerton in its entirety but after joining the fandom and looking through reddit, i saw that the theloise crowd was the most welcoming for any headcanons (and that includes queer ones, bc how tf is it that even the bridgertonlgbt subreddit is resistant to the idea of queer eloise?!) about eloise's future and story that diverges from her awful book fate

My Thoughts On Season 4
I keep seeing people come up with their predictions on which story will be next on Bridgerton.
For a moment I thought it could be Francesca because they were really focused on her and John. So I thought they would have her marry at the end of this season and then next season would be her story with Micheal. But now I think it is too soon for her story. I feel they are gonna give us a bit more time with them so that we get to like John and then become heartbroken .
So my thoughts is they either get married at the end of this season or beginning of season 4 and then we see their marriage throughout the remainder of the season and maybe season 5 or 6 is her story with Micheal.
As for who is the main Bridgerton of Season 4 is going to be...
It is obviously either going to be Benedict or Eloise.
I am leaning more towards Benedict because I feel they still need to build Eloise's story.
I think they are starting to build Benedict's story because I feel Lady Tilley Arnold may turn out to be Sophie's stepmom. Which would be super weird and dramatic but I can see the show doing this,.
The fact that in the promo for part 2 they mention the strike of midnight and a clock like in cinderella has me thinking that it may end with a masquerade ball where Benedict meets Sophie.
I know people keep saying that the timeline wouldn't make sense but the show is not following the books completely so they can play around and maybe instead of 2 years it is just the summer and they meet again next season.

my very correct reviews of the bridgerton novels 😎
stars and spiciness (scale of 1-3) and tidbits below
please note that the following numbers are my opinion and largely exist relative to one another and to my limited understanding of the genre haha
The Duke and I (⭐ 3.5/5 +🔥): Ok I have very mixed feelings about this one haha 😞 The dub-con/non-con scene between the leads is framed as a mistake by the perpetrator (Daphne), which is good! But it's also not fully acknowledged or apologized for... which is bad... But at the same time, there's some really good things in this novel - the chemistry between the leads, Simon's persistent issues and Daphne realizing that she can't fix him overnight, Daphne recognizing her own privilege, the humor and comedic timing, Daphne's Weird Girlness...
The Viscount Who Loved Me (⭐ 4/5 +🔥🔥): Anthony as a character was very fascinating, and Kate's sororal relationship with Edwina was lovingly written! I also thought Quinn's approach to mental health as something unknowable & unpredictable was great (her descriptions of panic attacks were pretty spot-on too)
An Offer from a Gentleman (⭐ 2/5 +🔥🔥): 2 stars for Benedict chokeslamming the abusive stepmom, 0 stars for Benedict creating a toxic workplace environment 🤮
Romancing Mister Bridgerton (⭐ 4/5 +🔥): Penelope is a very interesting character, and the primary conflict being one of jealousy between the two leads was really interesting!? (ie. Colin is jealous of Penelope's success 👀)
To Sir Phillip, With Love (⭐ 5/5 +🔥🔥🔥): Really complex and I'm glad that a) Quinn allows her leads to make mistakes and b) Phillip was not insta-cured by marriage or A Woman's Healing Touch but instead had to do some self-reflection and come to conclusions on his own (with her help)
When He Was Wicked (⭐ 4.5/5 +🔥🔥🔥): 5 stars for Michael being pathetically in love, -0.5 stars for Michael being an active participant in English colonization 🫥 It's thematic, and his commentary sounded accurate to contemporary stuff I've read lmao, so I see the vision - but given that Quinn is a modern author, she should know better and it could've been handled better... The overall gothic/ghostly vibes were fascinating tho !
It's in His Kiss (⭐ 4/5 +🔥): Hyacinth is just like me fr, and Gareth was a nice change in pace from the Tall Dark And Handsome Brooding ML LOL Also the treasure hunt as a plot vehicle was fun!
sidenote but i just think it's so funny how phillip & michael each had a scene where they gave the FL an orgasm but didn't finish:
On the Way to the Wedding (⭐ 3.5/5 +🔥): Gregory is a goof and I appreciate his madly-in-love vibes, also he shot a man??!!?! A well-executed finale to such a vibrant series 👏
but to be clear, none of these books are perfect, and there are definitely tropes/moments that quinn likes playing to but that i find dicey (such as most, if not all, her male leads having "sexy" (?) anger issues lol... also she is not the best author if you're looking for a critique of english classism/imperialism lmao)
yet there are also a lot of really good and interesting things (mostly internal growth/conflict rather than external, haha) that she explores through the Bridgerton Regency Tropes Vehicle 👀
also i think it genuinely takes a hugely skillful author to write good humor / erotica, which quinn definitely excels at, so i will give her her flowers there 👍
AND it's interesting to read a modern american woman's interpretation of early 19th century upper-class english society 👀 there's some interesting things going on there w historicity and the non/necessity of accuracy 👀 and ofc american-english cultural relations haha
phillip got up and jerked off in the bathroom LOL
meanwhile michael, possibly horniest man alive, just took a cold shower lmaooo
idk why this is so funny to me
also phillip and michael get extra kudos for going down on their love interests (gareth might have as well, i can't remember, if he did then good for him too)
and i will end this post on that note lol

nico taking little mousy back to the house to give him a warm bath and some clean clothes, asking nicky about his family to try and find out where he's come from or if anyone is looking for him. nicky tells nico that he doesn't have a family, but he has a nest in one of the old outbuildings on the edge of toto's estate. nico gives nicky some lunch and puts him down for a nap with sebby before heading to the outbuilding to have a look. he's devastated when he sees nicky's little nest made up of rags that he's managed to find, and he rushes back home to beg toto to let nicky stay
Plss! Nico lifting the little mousy up and carrying him back to the house, telling Sebby to run ahead and ask the servants to run a bath! The little mousy whispering his name is Nicky and that he doesn't have family and poor thing cries so hard! Nico being so gentle washing mousy and Seb is there to supervise and show mousy toys!
Nicky telling Nico about the nest he made in the outhouse or maybe in the stables and Nico has a servant (maybe Val?) Sit with Nicky who is snoozing in one of Nico's warm nests while Nico goes to find where Nicky was staying and his heart breaks seeing the tint nest made of rags and hay....
Nico rushing back and finding a very confused Toto standing next to Nico's nest, looking at the little mousy staring back at him with wide eyes. Nico explaining what happened and sitting on the edge of the nest to let Mousy cuddle close and softly asks if they csn have mousy stay, at least until they find another solution

i feel like eloise doesn’t get enough credit for readily taking in oliver and amanda as her own children, like yes they were pretty grown when she met them but they were still really young and in dire need of a well-functioning parent. it takes a lot of guts to look at children that aren’t yours --- and who know they aren’t, since oliver and amanda had memories of marina, however little --- decide “yes, they are mine and i will continue to love and raise them” and properly commit to that

We deserve to see the Sharmas from the book!
I had promised myself that I won't post anything negative about the show because there are a lot of things that I believe they could have done better! (to say the least!)
But one thing that makes me furious is the way they portrayed the Sharma family, especially how they completely almost ruined the characters, Mary and Edwina!
Point number one, in the entire Bridgerton series, there are only two functional families and they are the Sharmas and the Stirlings (if you're okay with Francesca and Michael's story)
BOOK SPOILER: In the rest of the series, every story has main leads with toxic family members, from Simon's dad, Sophie's dad and stepmom to Penelope's mom, Philip's parents, Gareth's "dad" to even Lucy's family!
And they decide to ruin one of the only two beautiful families! 🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media
Second, about Edwina, I completely agree with @onlychaosnosense 's post! It's a real shame what we've had to endure for a love triangle and I don't want to go into all that again. Though I will say that I really missed the book!Edwina who bookish and knew what sort of man she wanted to marry.
Third, coming to Mary Sharma. Mary is my most favorite character in the series (who is not a main hero/ heroine!)
Mary Sheffield/Sharma is a character that is truly an inspiration, both to be kind like her in real life as well as to write a character as brilliant as her, someday. Let's be real, Mary is a stepmom who was the polar opposite of the cruel, stereotypical stepmom that we grew up reading and watching. It was so damn refreshing to see that and I have never felt so much respect for Julia (even though that quickly faded after I read AOFAG).
We don't get to see a even a shadow of the kind, caring and gentle Mary from the book in the show and I don't know if it was a conscious decision to hide Mary as much as they did. Also, I don't know if it was just me or did you think that in almost all the scenes with Mary (few as they were), we get to see the back of Shelley's head more than her face?
Tumblr media
Mary Sharma in the book knew her daughters which makes me question the whole plot wonder why she never noticed Kate's feelings. It is true that she was heartbroken from Mr. Sharma's death, but she was not Violet Bridgerton never made Kate feel that it was her sole responsibility to find a husband for Edwina in the book. She loved and cared for both Edwina and Kate and wanted the best for them. She wanted Kate to focus on finding herself a husband and even played matchmaker between Kate and Anthony (Anthony calling on the Sharma's the first time, just before the fall into the Serpentine).
I won't go into the whole business with the Sheffields in the show! 🙄
I am sure that we could find a lot more instances where they did a disservice to all the three characters and the beautiful bond they shared, and I think the major reason might be because they are trying to sell the show to a larger audience who is looking for drama (and steam).
Tumblr media
That being said, I am not saying that there were no beautiful moments in the show with the three of them. Like I shared in a previous post, I absolutely loved the scene where Kate applies oil on Edwina’s hair. The scene in Episode 8, where Mary and Kate finally have a proper conversation was heart wrenching. And there were a handful of scenes where we could get a glimpse of the real characters.
Tumblr media
I just wish that we had more of those scenes and better arcs for the characters. Sad to say, but the writers really underutilized the talents of Simone, Shelley and Charithra. I really believe we deserved better.
If you've reached till here, thank you for listening to my ramblings. I would love to hear your thoughts! 💖

since it's semi confirmed that the Cowpers will most likely be Sophie's family (due to Lady Cowper's actress confirming their first name is Araminta), how could you see that playing out with Lady Cowper as her stepmom and Cressida being an amalgamation of her and Rosamund character?
See, when that theory first came out I was a bit sceptical but warmed up to the idea, especially as I figured it made sense for Cressida to double up as Rosamund - but then Lord Cowper showed up in S2 at the dinner with the Featheringtons and it completely threw me off.
If we're still going with the theory that the Cowpers are Sophie's family then some surface level details have to be established.
Was Sophie the result of an affair between Lord Cowper and a maid before or after marrying Lady Cowper? Would Cressida be Sophie's half sister, or was she perhaps Lady Cowper's daughter from a previous marriage who Lord Cowper adopted as his own? When was Sophie's existence made known to the family; did she arrive on the doorstep at three years of age like in the books of was she a bit older?
I'm aware the show isn't adhering strictly to the books from what we've seen in S2 and from what we can gather of S3 already, but at least so far in the series they've kept the family set-ups for the Bridgerton love interest the same. If the Cowpers are Sophie's family then already it feels like they've completely overhauled the foundations of Sophie's background and altered the dynamics.
Now I feel that the theory of the Cowpers being Sophie's family only raises more questions. When Sophie arrived did her father take her in as his ward and let her have her education until Lady Cowper had enough and forced her into servitude? Or was Sophie a little older when she showed up and her father went you're my kid? ayyy lmao go work in the kitchens like yo mama? Does Lady Cowper resent Sophie not just for being her husband's bastard but for perhaps being walking proof of her husband's infidelity while they were married?
In the books it was fundamental how Sophie received an education in her early years, how she was detested by her stepmother for being the earl's bastard, how her father dying led to her being forced to work for Araminta and how the dowry her father left her was kept secret. All of that was necessary to establish Sophie in the position she finds herself in the world - but if the Cowpers are her family in the show with her father still being alive, Cressida potentially being not a step-sister but a half-sister, Sophie maybe not receiving an education, then for me it changes so many elements of Sophie's characterisation.
At this point I'm hoping that Sophie is unrelated to the Cowpers purely because all of the questions and issues I've mentioned above. I know Lady Cowper's actress said her first name was Araminta but as they haven't mentioned it on-screen I'm sort of hoping it's just a coincidence, or maybe the writers were planning on condensing the Cowpers and the Reilings but have since changed their mind?
