Eternally confused by assertions that Thor and Loki don't like each other.

They love each other, obviously. And sometimes they fuckin hate each other (well, Loki sometimes hates Thor. And Thor is sometimes at least very goddamn righteously pissed off at Loki, whether he'd call it "hate" or not.)

But they do also like each other.

Thor clearly likes Loki. Enjoys and appreciates his company and admires many things about him, despite their many conflicts. And although that's a comics reference, consider Thor's "well of course I want to have my brother come with me on an adventure!" attitude when he's trying to convince his friends to go to Jotunheim with him at the beginning of Thor 2011, and it seems like it's pretty applicable to the MCU as well, at least before TR's moronic retcons.

Is it mutual, though?

... is that a real question?

Loki idolizes him, wishes he could measure up to him, thinks the sun goddamn rises and sets on Thor. "Loki felt no rancor [...] -- his stepbrother was perfect: beautiful, powerful, golden. He adored him. And if Thor repaid that adoration with little slights and humiliations, it was a price Loki was only too willing to pay for his company" (R. Rodi, Loki: Blood Brothers). Yes, another comics reference, but doesn't that also jibe with the movie depiction of Loki who clearly has a less than ideal relationship with the rest of Thor's crew but hangs out with them nonetheless because that's the only way to spend time with Thor?

Genuinely, I can't think of a better metric for liking someone than wanting to hang out with them even when the circumstances make that less than fun for other reasons. Seeing their company as satisfying even if you're both just sitting there doing something that would otherwise suck. And they both seem to have each other as first choice for that, with everyone else a very distant second if they rank at all.

So I just don't get how anyone can try to slot them into some cliche of "siblings who love each other i guess but also can't stand each other at all." These dumb bastards would spend their lives in each other's pockets if they could. They probably had their own secret language as kids, like figured out a way to get around the Allspeak to invent one no one else could understand. Anyone else that either of them dates had better be ready to have the other brother as a constant topic of conversation, because the moment you express annoyance at that they're going to be shoving breadsticks into their bag and making excuses to gtfo. "they don't like each other" what the fuck are y'all talking about.

When MA starts helping out these ghosts, he decides to help her, working on his own fear of death and the grief at his last best friend's loss.

The Flower Queen/Mabel Cox: The dragon that protects the main antagonist, the Flower Queen used to be a girl from Sunshine who died after striking a deal with the Beast to protect her younger stepbrother. Her sanity took a hit after a while and now she stalks the ghosts of Sunshine, luring many of them to her ax and to the flame that keeps both her and the Beast alive.

Charlie Nair: Once having the ability to rewound time to when she was thirteen, Charlie gave up that power in exchange for helping her older sister, Rei, come back from the death. Charlie is recovering from the loss of this power, used to having the ability to get out of messes and life commitments.

Anna Bethel: A girl who ended up slipping from her home in Wales to the mystical Camelot, Anna wants to return to Camelot and her best friend, Princeling Ari. Unfortunately, her experiments leave her stranded in the World Between Worlds, forcing her to help the Universal Guardian fix things between the worlds if she wants to both protect Camelot and return home.

You woke up with a smile on your face, but then you realized that you were getting married in four weeks and that stressed you out, you still didn't know the extent of the plan Loki had. You didn't want to think about it though, you looked at yourself after showering, the flashes from the last night made you feel so warm, he was so gentle with you and the way he kept cooing in your ears had to be your most favorite thing to listen to now. You felt so connected to him, so close and you haven't even slept with him just yet. 

You never thought you'd see a day where you'll fall in love again that too so madly, you wanted to be around him all the time and you just wanted to keep touching him and have him touch you in return.

You also thought about how he tried to hurt Katlyn and that made you smile, she deserved that.

You had to be at a photoshoot for the gym your dad's company owned so you got ready and stepped downstairs. Rocky and Suzzanah will turn up tomorrow as well and next week Steve's parents will get here too. All of it made you so anxious but you felt better when you saw him. He escorted you to your car and as soon as you were inside you kissed him, you had to, you couldn't help it. 

"You forgot breakfast baby" you smiled as he said that between the kiss

"Sorry I woke up late.. I'll eat between the shoot I promise" 

"You better, come sit on me" you giggled and got on his lap with your legs on either side of his thighs. He wanted to tell you about the conversation he had with Peter last night but figured he'll do it after the shoot.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked you as you latched your lips on his neck

"Mmm after the night I had? definitely" he blushed as he thought about you pleasuring yourself for him, he was thinking about it until he fell asleep too .

"Do you miss your family?" You asked him out of nowhere and he wasn't expecting that question but he knew he had to talk about his family at some point.

"I mean..yeah..I'm not that close with my father, he was hardly present in my life" you cupped his cheeks and he looked at you as your thumb brushed over his cheekbones. You didn't want this whole relationship to be just about you, he mattered to you and you wanted to take care of him as well.

"You said before that you got connected to him recently?" 

"Yes like a year ago, he wanted to reconcile and repair our relationship so we did that, it's a bit complicated my family history" he chuckled but his eyes seemed sad.

"I'm listening baby" you kissed his forehead so he placed his head down on your chest.

"My dad laufey didn't want to raise me all alone, my birth mother died at childbirth so he gave my responsibility to his best friend Odin and his wife Frigga, they already had a son, the one I call my stepbrother. Odin cheated on Frigga a few years later and married someone else but she died too, he had a daughter with the other woman, he abandoned her and she came to live with us as my adoptive mother Frigga didn't want the the girl to be left alone, so three kids in one house, and a mother, I do miss that time" 

It was a lot to process but you understood the complexity of it. 

"Your mom, how did she die?" You asked him softly as you didn't want to hurt him with the memories of her. The way he talked about her, you knew they were close.

"She was suffering from multiple sclerosis and it got worse with time, caught up to her finally " 

"I'm so sorry lo" you kissed the top of his head and he hummed.

"It's okay baby, it's okay" 

"Your stepbrother? Where is he?" He looked at you as you asked him that.

"Here in NYC you know him really well, you see him all the time, he's a muscle head dumbnut" he chuckled and your eyes widened as he said that,

"Thor?" You asked him and he smiled, he knew you'd guess it 

"Wow that's..small world huh" you chuckled and he nodded as he kissed you softly. 

"What happened between you two?" You asked him as it made you curious, they didn't seem to have a good relationship.

"That's something I'll discuss later with you if that's okay but don't worry about it yeah? He won't harm you or anything but it's better to not let him get suspicious about us as he can get a bit protective of me" you nodded as he said that. It was nice to learn more about his family, you wanted to ask about his sister but you had reached the studio. 

You got off his lap and put your glasses on before you stepped out of the car, he guarded you as he escorted you inside. Your assistant, manager, makeup guy, hair woman, everyone surrounded you instantly so he stepped away from you, but he insisted on staying with you for safety reasons, that made you smile.

It took several hours as they put you in different gym wear, he could see you starting to feel tired but you didn't say a word. Once you were done, you took a shower and changed into the clothes you came in, a simple pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. Then you took him, Wanda, your manager Phil to lunch and then you finally got to spend some time with him in the car as you both made your way back to the mansion. 

"Come here little baby" he mumbled softly and you snuggled into him, you sat down on his lap in a sideways manner with your arm wrapped around him like a koala bear, you have never been more thankful for the soundproof partition and tinted windows before. Ending up in his arms after a long day felt heavenly, 

"Mom would love you" you whispered and his eyes teared up, his mother would love you too. 

"Would have been my honor to meet her" he mumbled as he pressed soft kisses on your neck. You hummed and tightened your grip around him, she'd be happy to see you so loved, you remembered that's how she used to be with him. Before they took him away from her. Your eyes teared up as you feared that your fate would be same as hers.

"Lokii.. promise me that if worst comes to worst you'll protect yourself and leave before they'll get you" his eyes teared up so he pulled your head away and looked at you.

"Why would you say that hmm?" Tears dripped down your cheeks so he wiped them away with his thumbs "What is it hmm? What's bothering you baby?" 

"Nothing I just..I just don't want anyone to hurt you..so please promise me?" you hugged him tightly and he sighed. There was a heavy risk involved and he knew what he has gotten himself into but he also knew that he would give up his life if he have to but he'll get you out of here at any cost.

"Okay I promise darling, I promise, but you'll have to give me something too" you nodded as he said that

"If something happens to me promise me that you will not give up, promise me that you'll live your life to the fullest once you're out of here" you shook your head as your eyes welled up, you couldn't even imagine your life without him.

"Don't say that loki please I can't imagine my life without you anymore " 

"I can't either darling but promise me you'll never harm yourself again no matter what happens" he told you sternly as he cupped your cheeks.

"Okay I promise I promise " you clutched onto him and held him as tightly as you could. 

When you reached the mansion you went straight for your room, the conversation made you anxious but fir once you wanted to be positive and hope for the best. After half an hour you heard a knock on your door and wondered if it was Loki. Disappointment was evident on your features as it was Steve, Bucky and Katlyn. What were they doing there? 

They stormed inside and locked the door, Bucky grabbed your arm and you screamed but he was holding you very harshly, he grabbed both of your arms and locked it behind as he held you in position.

"You're not laughing now, what happened?" Katlyn cackled and that's when you noticed the trimmer in her hands, she was going to hurt you because you laughed at her yesterday. She was going to cut your hair, you screamed as loud as you could but Bucky placed his palm on your mouth, 

"For fucks sake this is so childish kat, besides she have to look her best for the wedding" Steve said to her and she glared at him.

"Sooo? We will get her extensions, I have to put the extensions on and she gets to have her own hair bro? Nooo" she started laughing and you felt so scared of her in the moment, you didn't want to lose your hair too. 

You bit on Bucky's palm and he yelped, then you screamed for help again. Loki you needed Loki.

"You fucking bitch" he turned you around and slapped you hard then he manhandled you again into the position so you won't be able to fight, she walked towards you and turned the trimmer on. 

"Nooo stop stop please stopp ..help please noo" you screamed as loud as you could and Bucky placed his hand on your mouth again.

Steve only rolled his eyes, she was about to take the first swipe over your head when you heard a knock on the door, she turned the trimmer off instantly and hid it under the bed. As soon as you saw Peter on the other side of the door you ran towards him and hugged him tightly, 

"What's going on here?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around you.

"Nothing we asked her to consider getting a hairstyle that would fit the wedding dress and she threw a tantrum like always" Katlyn said to him and Peter could feel that you were shaking in his arms.

"Leave her alone, it's her hair, she'll decide what she's going to do with it" 

"This is bullshit" Steve looked at Kat and stormed out. Bucky followed him instantly and so did Kat.

"Hey calm down you're safe okay, you're safe " Peter whispered softly and you stepped away from him as you broke down. You needed Loki, you wanted to be in his arms and feel safe, you felt so scared and he was the only one you wanted to be with right now .

"Thank..thank you ..Peter" your voice cracked and you sniffled between each word, his eyes teared up and he grabbed your arm but that action made you flinch.

"Just trust me and come with me okay?" You allowed him to drag you out and he took you to his room. You didn't know why he was taking you there, you felt scared that Katlyn and Steve would be in there too and he was with them. You kept sniffling and you hesitated entering his room so he dragged you in and that's when you saw him. Your Loki.

He ran towards you and quickly pulled you in his arms for the warmest comfiest hug.

"You're okay baby, you're okay my sweetheart, I'm here ..I'm here, I'm here baby" he cooed in your ears and you finally felt safe. He was there, you were safe.

"Lokii they..were..my hair..they" 

"I know I know I know I heard..I heard baby shhhhh it's okay I'm here just breathe for me okay, you are safe my love, you are safe" you sniffled as you clung to him as tightly as you could, so tight that you feared you were suffocating him.

"I'll lock the door from outside, text me when you need to come out" Loki nodded at Peter, thanking him silently and Peter left you two to keep an eye on Katlyn. 

As soon as he left Loki picked you up and sat down on the couch with you on top of him, you were shaking terribly in his arms and he was furious, angry, bubbling with rage, he just wanted to hurt those people. 

"Sshhh baby stop crying, I have got you okay, I have got you" he mumbled in your ear and he noticed the red mark on your cheek. His jaw clenched so he put you down, grabbed an ice pack from the mini refrigerator Peter had in his room and came back to you. He kissed your forehead and you winced as he pressed the pack on your bruised cheek. 

"Sorry baby I'm so sorry" he mumbled softly and you scooted closer to him, after icing the bruise, he laid down on the couch with you on top of him, he held you until you stopped shivering and crying. After a few minutes when you snapped out of the trauma you looked at him.

"Peter knows" you looked at him and his eyes teared up.

"Yes I was going to tell you soon, I bumped into him last night and he told me that he knew about us and as much as it hurt him to see you in love with someone else, he wanted to get you out of here, he wants to help us"

Your eyes flickered as you realized that he really did want to be your friend now. 

"You sent him today?" You asked him as you basked in his warmth and safety.

"I heard you crying darling, I heard them hurting you and I knew I couldn't get there so I asked him to go check up on you" his eyes teared up as he was so enraged with the way you got hurt again by those monsters. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight when his baby got hurt right under his nose again.

"I love you daddy" you mumbled softly and his grip around you tightened.

"I love you baby, I'm sorry" 

"No never.. it's not your fault, just few more days, I can take it, I'm strong right?" you smiled a little and his heart clenched,

"You're the strongest person I have ever known my little baby" he flipped you around and got you under him, his thumb caressed the bruise while his lips sucked on your neck,
