Back when I was a Librarian, we lived and breathed by the Publisher's Weekly Bestseller List. It was my responsibility to print or photocopy the list every week and update our bestseller's display. (Also to purchase extra copies of particularly popular bestsellers.)

I haven't looked at the list in YEARS. Some of these surprise me:

A new translation of The Iliad made the list?!

Ken Follett is still alive?? (I looked him up, he's only 74.)

Danielle Steel is still alive?? ( I just looked her up, she's only 76 and has been married five(!) times. To be fair, I also looked up Ken Follett, he's only been married twice.)

There’s always been a medieval and folk music influence in our own label’s releases although often neglected for long periods. Recently, we’ve been exploring a little of that again, particularly the “Viking” sounds made popular by such artists as Wardruna and Eldrim.

My one issue with The Fosters spin-off, is that it will lack LGBTQ representation. On The Fosters we had Stef, Lena, Jude, Conner (RIP Jonner), Noah, Aaron, Monte, Cole and a whole bunch of others. As of right now, Callie and Mariana are straight.

I honestly hope that Mariana comes out, because I will not accept this show being about a bunch of straight people.

i can’t remember if i’ve posted this here before, but if you’re at all interested in ancient languages/music i would highly recommend this project. it’s an attempt at “reconstructed babylonian-era music”, and while i can’t speak for the historical accuracy of the music, i CAN tell you that stef conner’s pronunciation of the akkadian is EXCELLENT and listening to it is a lot of fun
