There was something so wrong about 2022 that it all feels like a long, bad dream now.

I’m writing this before I can get blackout drunk tonight. This is a small thank you note to all of you, and a bit of a rant as well.

I lost some of my best friends this year, most of them I’ve known for almost ten years. I also got a job, then quit my job again because customer service is a hellhole swallowing everyone who works there, my grades suffered and my mental health took a mortal hit. At some point this year, I actually thought I wasn’t going to make it. Though as 2022 comes to an end, I have started to reflect on the past 12 months and realized something.

If I hadn’t joined this fandom, I probably wouldn’t be alive today. And if I hadn’t decided to publish Foreigner’s God, I probably wouldn’t be here today. It’s surreal to think how many new people I’ve met during the past five months just through bonding over our favorite fictional character. I started writing as an escape YEARS AGO, I just never thought my work would actually get (positive) attention, but it did and now I’m here. It’s truly insane and I could cry, that’s how thankful I am.

The reviews on all of my work are astronomical and I’m so overwhelmed by the love you’ve given me, my heart is so full right now.

At the beginning of this year, I never thought I would meet Charlie Cox either. It was just a fever dream of mine. And yet I did. That man saved my life. I owe him and his work so much, especially this year, and I want nothing more than to tell him that. But knowing I’ve met him gives me some sense of closure and it brings a smile to my face whenever I see the picture of us on my wall…

The Matt Murdock and Charlie Cox fandom pulled me out of a very dark hole and I can’t even put into words how thankful I am. And I’m a writer, words should come naturally. But there is not a single word that could sum up the kind of love and gratefulness that I’m filled with whenever I get to interact with you.

Writing Eliza and Matt’s story has made me into a different, more reflective person. I managed to deal with some of my own mental issues through that story. I’m so glad I made the choice to write this and then publish it too… I don’t even want to know how my life would look like if I hadn’t. And when I started writing reader inserts, it felt like I finally created something great, a space for all of us to come together and bond over Matt Murdock and Daredevil, not just with Foreigner’s God but with my writing in general. I created a creative world for myself and I invited you to join, which you did, and now I’m happier than ever. I finally have something to look forward to and it makes me so happy to hear that some of you (if not most) feel the same way. Writing is supposed to be fun not only for the author but for the writers as well, and I think I managed to do that, even though angst is my primary focus. (Let’s ignore the smut, even though we are in for a wild, horny ride next year).

My writing also improved a lot, all thanks to you and all of this practice I have now. I feel like I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps find my life’s purpose along the way. I’m graduating next year, I’ll be turning 20 in no less than three weeks and everything is about to change – the only constant I have right now is you. This fandom offers me an escape from the brutal reality that’s about to hit me in the face any second now, and I can’t not continue. I need to stay sane somehow. Thank you for subconsciously helping me through everything this year! Please, don’t ever change. This is a place where you can be whoever you want to be. In fact, I encourage you to do so.

I like to think that the universe chose to have mercy on me and that’s why I’m where I am right now. You guys are the one thing I look forward to the most in the next year and I can’t wait for what’s to come. Thank you!

If the power goes out, move everything essential to one room and block it off. It's easier to warm that way.

Don't risk your life going to work they can figure it out.

I saw a post saying add extra bedding to your pets cages so they can build big nests before it's needed

If you're water depends on electric fill up several containers NOW

charge all electronics, including the previously mentioned battery packs

Buy a battery pack if the storm hasn't hit yet

My work has a generator so that's my back up plan with one battery pack, i gave the rest to family to borrow for the storm

If you're paranoid like me, invest in a rechargable hand warmer, that thing gets HOT

Ok guys so much of indiana and/or the Midwest are under a winter storm warning for the next few days starting tonight! Here's how to be ready

-literally cancel any unnecessary appointments, you don't need to be out

-prepare for a power outage. Do you have warm stuff for pets? Any pet? I'm trying to find some Styrofoam to insulate my fish tanks and my cat has some socks and two warm sweaters.

-If your water relies on power make sure you have plenty stored in empty, safe containers. Enough for a few days for your family and pets.

-charge any and all battery packs you may have.

-prepare your flashlights, make sure they work and make sure you have batteries for them.

-dig out all blankets and winter gear. I know it's warm now but temperatures are going to drop and FAST tonight.

-make sure you have enough of any medications for a few days

-if you own a long thick skirt and the power goes out, put that on over any layers, skirts trap in more heat than pants believe it or not

-move everyone to the same room if the power goes out, all the body heat will make a difference and block off any entrances/exits with blankets, towels, etc

-make sure you have food you can eat without power. I know last year during the Texas outage people were heating soup and water up over candles (they put cans bigger than the candle around it and set a sauce pan on them with some soup) but make sure you have food you can eat without power

-make sure you have any and all warm clothes clean and dried, the last thing you want to do is be stuck in a power outage without clean clothing

-I know this turned into a power outage post but last year's power outage should be having us all prepare, that is the most deadly scenario for this storm if you don't leave the house

-DO NOT TURN YOUR CAR ON IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE YOU WILL DIE

-do NOT BRING THE FIRE PIT INSIDE, YOU WILL DIE

-you really shouldn't drink snow unless it's life or death, snow can contain a lot of pollution so stock up on water now, seriously

-really make sure you have enough supplies for 3+ days, we will be hit with snow constantly through friday

-make sure your dishes are done and clean in case of a power outage

-have a to go emergency bag for your pet in case you have to drop them off at a boarding facility or a friend/family members. This includes bowls, food, medications, toys, carrier and/or harness and leash, vaccine records, litterbox and litter if going to a family/friends

-I don't have kids so the only tip I can give for them is make sure you have safe foods they will actually eat, keep their electronics charged, and have plenty of warm clothing and non electronic ways to entertain them

-if you live by yourself, it's probably smart to find a friend and hunker down with them. Bring whatever blankets, battery packs, flashlights, candles, your warm clothing, food, and water with you if you can

-prepare for the worst, hope for the best

I will probably be making a second post when I get off work in like 8 hours so keep an eye out for that

As much as many want to eliminate and belittle it, this bond exists, it is captured in the work as it is. An open example of union, loyalty and devotion. It doesn't matter if it's platonic, this is undeniably LOVE.

okay well I know I said I wasn’t watching tonight and I’m STILL NOT but ALSO I did see pics of the new art and 1. I love it all so much they are all. Very pretty. Ashton and Dorian specifically did make me briefly black out. Friends you are going into the snow wtf are you doing but also don’t stop doing it holy SHIT I bet Orym just got a nosebleed as soon as he saw both of them anyways speaking of Orym 2. ORYM. MY BBY MY BOY. Two things. First I love the bluebells he’s growing bc that’s his DORIAN flower and that’s cute as fuck but SECOND AND MORE IMPORTANTLY he is growing!! His!! Hair!! Out!!!!!! Do you understand me???? It’s long enough to curl! It’s got enough weight to it to hang down over his face!!

(and you KNOW this was an intentional decision on the part of Liam “Caleb shaved his beard as soon as they got to xhorhas but let his red hair grow long and started to take care of it” O’Brien. He knows what he’s doing.)

I have been having so fucking many thoughts about Orym and his responsibility to his husband and dad and keyleth and his people and the hells and dorian and and and and. and I’m Not gonna be able to get them all into one post I think but Y’ALL. He is Intentionally ditching the military haircut. That’s the kinda haircut you gotta Maintain, ESPECIALLY if your hair curls (trust me — my undercut is on a Strict Schedule bc if I don’t shave it back every month or so it just becomes a field of curly-cues beneath my long hair). My boy Orym keep that cut Sharp and Precise for five years of wandering mostly alone. There hasn’t been any commanding officer telling him to cut it since he left home. But he kept doing it!!

I’m sure it was part routine, but it was absolutely also a connection to home and to the responsibility he had taken on, which we KNOW at its core was a responsibility to his husband and father. They were soldiers. So was he. They wouldn’t stop fighting. Neither would he.

And the Hells found the killer! Found out why the attack had happened! Reported it all back to keyleth, even! Orym did his duty - he hasn’t been an active air ashari soldier for a while now, even if his five years away counted as official business.

But he kept the military cut.

Until now.

Until after he had finally helped to kill the woman who had struck down the man he loved and the man who raised him.

Until after Dorian came back, only one day after Orym begged him, not because Orym needed his help, just because Orym needed him.

And so Orym wears his Ashari armor, is working to advance the world-preserving efforts of the Tempest, but he also lets his hair grow out, and he adorns himself in bluebells.

When Orym died on the end of Otohan’s blade, Will sent him back. Told him he wasn’t done.

Will wasn’t talking about a mission from the Tempest, or his own need to be avenged. Orym knew that then. He knows that now.

But Orym did still feel the responsibility to his family and to his people, to end the threat. And even though it was only a small part of a greater danger, it is still a threat neutralized. Now, there’s this freedom, this world of possibility that wasn’t there while Otohan was still alive.

And yes, things are horrible. They’ve all just lost a dear friend. It’s causing internal ruptures and dangers and it’s still possible the world will end soon. He’s made a lifelong deal with an Archhag. He’s still not sure what his responsibility is to the Tempest.

But Dorian’s here, now. Back by his side.

And Orym decides to let his hair grow out. Just this once. What the hells, right? Everything is changing. The world might end. Might as well see what kind of person he can grow into before he’s done.

An election night like tonight honestly freaks me out so bad in part because of how many stories I heard years later from people who almost gave up in 2016 after hearing the results. No matter the outcome I'm sure that there will be people in tough situations due to this election.

Ashton Greymoore was told their fate by the Great Tree of Atrophy

In true Ashton fashion, they said "Fuck fate, this life is mine and I will do what I need to with it."

And, in the truest of Ashton fashions, they overcame the impossible, came back from the brink of death, and were once again reborn into something new

Ashton has always been my favorite in this campaign, that much should be obvious. I always seem to grab onto Taliesin's characters like a lifeline. I would have lost it completely if Ashton hadn't survived those 10 rounds of saves, but in true golden-snitch-anti-wheaton form, he did it.

I'm gonna need time to recover from this one
