Thank you so much to everyone for such a fanatic and fun event, as well as all the wonderful genfic the fandom has been blessed with! With 23 ballots submitted, and 40 writers writing 57 fics totalling over 260k words, we are thrilled with the participation!

Whether you wrote a fic, submitted a ballot, or read and showed appreciation for any of the stories in the collection, you played a part in making this event a success. However, we only have one exclusive “bragging rights” prize to go around...although this time, it had to be split in two.

Congratulations to @flecket​ and @softforklave​​ for their joint win! Through a combination of thorough writing analysis, social engineering, Excel spreadsheets, and a truly disturbing amount of effort, they joined forces to guess a total of 55 out of 57 fics correctly, crushing the rest of the competition. To put it in perspective, the next highest score was 19/57, and 65% of ballots did not even break double digits in terms of correct guesses.

「 🐳 」 hello! i haven't forgotten about your response—i was unfortunately hit with a series of ✧˖˚ unfortunate events ˚˖✧ (yes... pun intended for the sake of lightheartedness <3) shortly after the response, and i needed time to recover. i've decided to join you along the ride for the obm asks!

1.) how did you first get into obey me? personally, i was playing swd games for quite some time before obey me was released in december of 2019, so once i saw an ad for it i told myself, “well! another silly otome game from them to pass the time”, ahh i was so wrong with just how much flavor it had in all of it's terrible, atrocious glory.

satan was the first one to cause me to go into a miserable spiral once i had a revelation of what his birth actually meant, and thus, began spewing my silly little analyses to the small fandom at the time. i no longer go on longer tangents about satan as much as i do solomon (and recently, mephistopheles due to how noble his values are and how little people seem to realize it), but if i dare see someone in favor of obsessive cat-lover satan i have no issues with bashing their head against a digital brick wall and arguing that he is the least likely of the brothers to be obsessive over anything that falls into that category.

1.    He first saw you when you came to Narnia with the Pevensies before the war of deliverance.

 2.    You two became friends very quickly as you shared similar interests.

 4.    During the war, he put his life at stake to save you from a telmarine soldier who was attempting to stab you from behind.

 16.     He was a tall, strong man with chestnut straight hair, blue eyes and tan skin that made a lot of women fall for him.

You might be..’’ He paused. ‘’ I’m y/n. It’s nice to meet you too’’ You said politely. That was your first meeting with Adrien.

 20.     Caspian was so tied down to work and hardly had any time to spend with you but he never forgot to send you notes which brought a smile to your face whenever you read them. Lord Drinian was his trustee to hand over those notes to you.

 21.     Sometimes he watched you reading them through the long windows of the throne room. Your smile lightened up his weary face so much. It meant a lot to him.

 22.     Adrien tried to spend more time with you as possible knowing that the King was too busy. He brought you flowers and asked to go out for dinner sometimes. You refused his request politely as you knew where your heart belongs.

 23.     Giving up was not among Adrien’s faults. He kept trying until he became the thorn in your flesh.

 24.     So you tried to avoid him in the best way possible.

 25.     One day you when you were making your way to the Astronomy tower (where Caspian had planned a date night putting off all his schedules for that night for you) Adrien turned up before you.

 26.     He greeted you with a flirtatious smile. ‘Where are you going in such a rush?’’ You looked at him steadily. ‘Forgive me your grace for speaking like this. I think it’s none of your business. ‘’ And you tried to walk past him. But Adrien was quicker than you. He was not going to let you get rid of him that easily.

 27.     You were getting late for your date that you yearned for weeks and this man was ruining it.

 28.     Caspian was at the Astronomy Tower wondering why you were late. He knew how delighted you were when he told you that you were going to have dinner with candles under the moonlit sky.

 29.     Therefore, he decided to go looking for you. When he made his way to the entrance of the hall following the sound of your voice, he was astonished to hear your voice battling with Adrien’s. He remained still, taking away his hand that he placed on the doorknob without opening it.

 30.     ‘Adrien, I’m getting late! Let me go!’’ You uttered irritatingly. ‘Y/n, listen to me. Listen to just for once!’’ Adrien pleaded as you shouted at him.

 31.     You looked at him, heaving sigh. ‘’Okay, then. What do you have to say?’’ You crossed your arms.

 32.     ‘’I adore you y/n! I am madly in love with you.’’ He said taking a step towards you. ‘’I know that you are already in love with the King but I love you too!’’

 33.     Caspian narrowed his eyes angrily as he heard it.

 34.     You stared at him for a while mustering up words to respond. ‘’Adrien, I can’t. I…’’ He shushed you with his words.

 35.     ‘’ I’ve not finished it yet y/n. You’re in love with the king.’’ He repeated. ‘’ but are you happy with him? Does he spend time with you often? Is he there whenever you need him?  36.     Caspian felt like he was hit by lightning. There was a drop-dead silence in the hall. Adrien attacked his weak spot where he felt guilty for not being the best lover to you. He felt as if his heart was ripped into pieces because he knew that Adrien was telling the truth. Tears were rising in his eyes. All he wanted to do was to be the best thing ever happened to you but he couldn’t. He stormed into his chamber and slammed the door shut. He flung his coat away and buried his face in his arms. Tears were rolling down his cheeks. He needed you.

  37.     All you could do was stay silent. You were not happy in the past few weeks. Adrien was right. He didn’t have much time to spend with you. He was right there too. Was he attached to his work than you? That was the place he went wrong. You thought.

  38.     ‘’ Maybe you’re right or maybe you’re wrong.’’ You said. ‘’ but I do love him. He loves me too. I’m sorry to have disappointed you Lord Adrien. And I mean it’’ You ran the steps up to the Astronomy Tower.

  39.     A table lied in the candle-lit balcony with your favorite food and drinks under the moonlit sky. It would have been perfect if Caspian was there too. You searched for him but he was nowhere to be seen until you came before his chamber.

 40.     ‘’Knock, Knock’’ You said teasingly forgetting what happened with Adrien. ‘’Knock, Knock, Is anybody there’’ You said again. Nonetheless there was no response.

  41.     You tried to open the door but it was locked too.

 42.     You turned away thinking that he wasn’t there too. Suddenly you heard someone sobbing which took you by surprise. ‘’ Caspian, are you there?’ No response again but the sobbing continued.

  43.     ‘’Cas, is anything wrong ? ‘’ You asks soothingly lowering your voice.

  44.     He wavered whether to open the door or not. He didn’t want you to see him like this. ‘’ I’m fine. Leave me.’’ He said in a muffled tone.

  45.     ‘’No. You’re not. Please open the door, darling’’ You were making it difficult for him. ‘Leave me alone y/n, I order you to leave me right now’’ His voice roared as he stepped towards the door with angst.

  46.     You bit your lip. You felt tears running down your cheeks. He had never spoken that way to you. He was never rude to you. In fact he never used his title to order you until this day.

  47.     You wiped away your tears saying ‘’ Alright, I’ll leave you if that’s what you want’’ and left for your room.

  48.     It wasn’t what he wanted. He punched the door in pain as he heard your footsteps leaving his chamber. He felt that you were walking far away from him. He couldn’t bear it anymore. All he loved had already walked away from him and you were still there.

  49.     You stayed in your room for the whole morning and the afternoon. No breakfast. No tea. No lunch. Caspian’s rage! Thanks to Adrien! You were starving! You hid your face in a pillow crying incessantly. You could tolerate all but Caspian’s fury last night wounded you.

   50.     Caspian was in his room too. He skipped his breakfast and lunch deliberately. He knew that he hurt you and it tortured him too. He was not paying attention at all at the counsel. While the counselors were proposing their opinions all he did was looking away blankly. He turned his eyes towards the windows wishing you to be there reading your favorite book as usual. But you weren’t there. He couldn’t see you smiling at him. He missed your smile. Happiness started to drain from him. ‘’If she’s happy with him, let it be’’

  Thought we build the dynasty forever couldn’t break up.

  51.     For days you two tried to avoid each other which was difficult to do. He didn’t talk to you for days. You thought that he was dumping you, that he was sick of you. On the contrary those days he fell deeper in love with you. He loved you too much to let you go.

  52.     Adrien was there trailing you as always. However much you tried to avoid him he was just intolerable.

  53.     It made Caspian feel so envious towards him.

  57.     Caspian regretted being rude to you that day so he decided to apologize for what he said. When he went to your chamber your maid said where you were.

  58.     You rolled your eyes as you tried to leave him. You were sick of his boasts. ‘’You can’t leave me now. You have none to cling onto now except me.’’ He blew his own horn again. He was grabbed your hand tightly that you winced in pain.

  59.     ‘Take your hand off her, Adrien!’’ Caspian’s voice thundered as he clenched his fits.. He was exasperated at the way Adrien treated you. Adrien was shocked as he saw the burning rage in Caspian’s eyes that he let you go. ‘’I won’t let you hurt her again. She has me to cling onto .She’s not alone. I love her and I know that she loves me too. So you’d better stay away from her. I mean it.’’ He said as he tried to take his sword out but you jumped in between them. ‘’ It’s enough, Caspian’’ You said holding his hand. Your touch was the salvation for his seething anger.

  60.     Caspian looked at you fondly and looked at Adrien again. ‘’You are dismissed, Lord Adrien. Your service is no longer required here. You can return to Galma as soon as possible.’’ Adrien backed down. He didn’t dare to go against his King’s command. Caspian the tenth maybe his rival in seeking love but he was his King too after all. ‘’Yes, your majesty’’ He bowed with shame on his face and left them.

  61.     You both looked at Adrien stomped along the corridor out of your sight. Caspian looked at you. His chocolate irises met with yours. This time he didn’t want to let you go. ‘’ Listen y/n, ‘’ He broke the silence. ‘’I’m truly sorry for yelling at you that day. I regret about it every minute.’’

  62.     ‘’ Hey,it’s alright’’ You said caressing his hand.

Thinkin about the Yi City Crew (as you do) and idk, I think the tragedy (in CQL) for LWJ in particular is seeing these cultivators who he took notice of (he knew their names! when they met! he doesn’t like people this is very unusual!) reduced to this terrible fate where one’s soul is shattered and the other is a living corpse doomed to walk the earth forever and how that mirrors him so completely.

WWX’s soul was presumed lost! He was left to uphold their promise together and raise their son alone! Song Zichen doesn’t even have a son! He just has a bag holding the shattered remnants of the man he was going to spend his life with, who he cruelly pushed away and spent the rest of his life trying to find and make amends and then had to watch kill himself as he realised he’d killed his dearest friend (soulmate). Idk it’s Tragic in a different way to the MDZS Yi City.

There IS something incredibly tragic about WWX missing meeting his shishu and being the reason for his demise due to his demonic cultivation but the tragedy there is of Missed Connection. The CQL tragedy is of connection brutally ripped away and that just gets me more, especially in relation to LWJ whose whole life is filled with these connections that are brutally severed, beginning with his parents and then continuing through almost everyone he’s ever cared about or admired.

In the book I liked the Yi City arc, don’t get me wrong, I love Xue Yang as a villain and it’s a great lil section but I think having that point of connection beforehand where the reader already knows the people involved makes it that more emotionally impactful. After all, let’s be real, Yi City is mainly a plot vessel to explain how Empathy works so it doesn’t need to be explained later with Nie Mingjue’s head with a lil bit of angst sprinkled on top.

Also! WRT WWX, Xiao Xingchen isn’t just a name! He opens that coffin and it’s someone he knew! Someone he respected and whose opinion he cared about! Someone to whom he’d expressed a wish to emulate! There’s a particularly angsty blend of CQL and MDZS where WWX is still the First Demonic Cultivator but he knew Xiao Xingchen before his death and he’s slapped in the face with the knowledge that if he hadn’t messed with this cultivation then his shishu whom he greatly admired would probably still be alive, another on the list of people he cares about whose deaths he indirectly caused.

I think there’s a blend of canons that I think I’d like best where the Yin Iron arc doesn’t happen, but Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli and Wen Ning still go to the lectures and WWX and LWJ still go nighthunting together after the lectures and they still meet XXC and SZC out doing their thing, baby faced and wide eyed and they all express their wish to leave politics behind to just help people. (The don’t fight Xue Yang because I think it’s funny when he’s Baby)

Then they get called back to go to the Wen Cultivation Conference and they thrash everyone at archery because power couple (ribbon shenanigans are more along the lines of WWX trips and pulls it off and LWJ goes bright red and freezes, it’s v awkward) [[JC sees WQ at the competition and does the best he’s ever done]].

Then the Wens do their ‘we’re banning nighthunting’ and CR burns and Indoctrination happens. Xuanwu cave, LWJ bites WWX as in MDZS because that’s hilarious. Lotus Pier as in CQL except Yanli is sent to Meishan because fuck Lanling. WWX becomes CorpseMan a la MDZS because all the giggling female corpses is Gross but also like such a Look, WWX accepts help a la CQL because I like the vibe of LWJ trying and failing to bring his crush back from the clutches of Evil.

Idk if I’d keep the Shooting at Wens thing from the pheonix mountain hunt? on one hand it demonstrates how everyone is scared of the Jins now (and that scene where wwx shoots 5 arrows is hot) but on the other I don’t that no one would speak up?? and I don’t think the Jins would want to be Conspicuously Evil so soon??? Blindfold yes, no kiss tho because I found the ‘LWJ punches trees when angry’ aspect of it annoying and I’d rather have a heartfelt talk about being soulmates (could have a sexy scene of LWJ walking up and taking off the blindfold and declaring WWX doesn’t need to prove himself to Jin Zixun)[[maybe an almost kiss before yanli appears]]

Qiongqi path: Wen Rescue as in CQL because that shit hurted but Wen Ning would Definitely Be Dead a la MDZS. Burial Mounds Life happens. [[JC refuses the comb from Wen Qing ‘what use would I have for it?’ he says]] There is no second flute, WWX lost control and Jin Zixuan is dead at his hand and his hand alone. Wen Qing and Wen Ning go to turn themselves in alone. [[Wen Qing leaves the comb in a tree stump where later a small boy will shelter as his home is destroyed around him]] WWX loses control at Nightless City, JYL dies, WWX jumps off a cliff. LWJ, wounded and heartbroken, takes his stand at the Burial Mounds, trying to protect WWX’s people after hiding A-Yuan in Cloud Recesses [[A-Yuan has the comb, years later Jiang Cheng will find him reminiscing and will have to leave the room to cry angry tears]] LWJ is incapacitated and punished. The Wen Remnants are killed and thrown into the Blood Pool.

16 years pass. 16 long years.

Mo Xuanyu summons back a Wei Wuxian who wanted to die but one who hoped against hope the Wen Remnants hadn’t been murdered after his death. A Wei Wuxian who regretted letting himself die without making sure they were safe. (A Wei Wuxian who had to find out he had failed when he arrived in the Burial Mounds to rescue the juniors). [[A Wei Wuxian that looks like Wei Wuxian and Mo Xuanyu combined]] In this canon they find body parts, a la MDZS. They share inn rooms with the knowledge of what they had meant to each other and how in the end it hadn’t meant a thing. They go to Yi City and find a boy, barely older than the juniors, playing house with the bodies of their friends, the ones they wanted to be like. WWX is reminded of all he put LWJ through when he jumped off that cliff. It is no wonder LWJ drinks that night.

Koi Tower happens, right? Idk it’s got to happen at some point. Probably CQL canon if only because I know that one better? I don’t think there’s much difference between the two for this bit.

At the second siege of the Burial Mounds the bodies in the blood pool come to their rescue. Wei Wuxian is horrified. ‘How could you let them do that!’ LWJ stays silent. (‘What else could warrant 33 lashes of the discipline whip’ he will whisper later, drunk off a single cup of wine.) ‘The honourable Hanguang-Jun was in seclusion after you died.’ Jiang Wanyin will say in his best sneer. Lan Qiren says nothing. (’I tried, I tried but it wasn’t enough’)

After the Burial Mounds they return to Lotus Pier. The revelations happen. [[Jiang Wanyin is horrified for more reasons than Wei Wuxian realises. No wonder Wen Qing could not accept his help after what she had done to him]]

Guanyin Temple bores me for the most part, JGY is allowed to monologue for far too long. I like the idea of them confessing at the most awkward time but at the same time it drags out JGY’s monologue even longer and that shit took like 4 episodes in CQL and it Dragged. I skimmed most of those chapters in the novel. JGY and NMJ’s body end up in a coffin trapped under a statue in the image of JGY’s dead mother. Probably have the iconic novel line where JGY is like ‘I hold LWJ’s life in my hands’ or w/e because that’s kinda hot. [[WWX comments to LWJ about how in the ancestral hall they’ve already done most of their bows, LWJ short circuits, JC asks if WWX would like his wedding planning books from when they were kids, WWX short circuits because ‘you KEPT THEM???’ ‘yeah dumbass, you’re still my brother even if I hate you!’]]

There’s that cute scene in CQL where WWX touches LSZ’s ribbon and they hug and cry, keeping that. LWJ and WWX kiss because I Said So and then also have sex because the UST is killing me (but not in front of LSZ, after he’s gone off to travel with Uncle Ning) They handfast but LWJ has to go be interim sect leader while convincing his brother to come out of seclusion and wwx decides to go try and set his demons to rest. LXC demands to be allowed to plan Wangji’s wedding as a stipulation of starting to return from seclusion. Wangji wisely does not mention they already consider themselves married.

Can’t Hide Behind a Religious Mask

1-3 By this time the crowd, unwieldy and stepping on each other’s toes, numbered into the thousands. But Jesus’ primary concern was his disciples. He said to them, “Watch yourselves carefully so you don’t get contaminated with Pharisee yeast, Pharisee phoniness. You can’t keep your true self hidden forever; before long you’ll be exposed. You can’t hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. You can’t whisper one thing in private and preach the opposite in public; the day’s coming when those whispers will be repeated all over town.

4-5 “I’m speaking to you as dear friends. Don’t be bluffed into silence or insincerity by the threats of religious bullies. True, they can kill you, but then what can they do? There’s nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands.

6-7 “What’s the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries.

8-9 “Stand up for me among the people you meet and the Son of Man will stand up for you before all God’s angels. But if you pretend you don’t know me, do you think I’ll defend you before God’s angels?

10 “If you bad-mouth the Son of Man out of misunderstanding or ignorance, that can be overlooked. But if you’re knowingly attacking God himself, taking aim at the Holy Spirit, that won’t be overlooked.

11-12 “When they drag you into their meeting places, or into police courts and before judges, don’t worry about defending yourselves—what you’ll say or how you’ll say it. The right words will be there. The Holy Spirit will give you the right words when the time comes.”

The Story of the Greedy Farmer

13 Someone out of the crowd said, “Teacher, order my brother to give me a fair share of the family inheritance.”

14 He replied, “Mister, what makes you think it’s any of my business to be a judge or mediator for you?”

15 Speaking to the people, he went on, “Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.”

16-19 Then he told them this story: “The farm of a certain rich man produced a terrific crop. He talked to himself: ‘What can I do? My barn isn’t big enough for this harvest.’ Then he said, ‘Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my grain and goods, and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!’

20 “Just then God showed up and said, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. And your barnful of goods—who gets it?’

21 “That’s what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God.”

Steep Yourself in God-Reality

22-24 He continued this subject with his disciples. “Don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more.

25-28 “Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

29-32 “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.

33-34 “Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.

When the Master Shows Up

35-38 “Keep your shirts on; keep the lights on! Be like house servants waiting for their master to come back from his honeymoon, awake and ready to open the door when he arrives and knocks. Lucky the servants whom the master finds on watch! He’ll put on an apron, sit them at the table, and serve them a meal, sharing his wedding feast with them. It doesn’t matter what time of the night he arrives; they’re awake—and so blessed!

39-40 “You know that if the house owner had known what night the burglar was coming, he wouldn’t have stayed out late and left the place unlocked. So don’t you be slovenly and careless. Just when you don’t expect him, the Son of Man will show up.”

41 Peter said, “Master, are you telling this story just for us? Or is it for everybody?”

42-46 The Master said, “Let me ask you: Who is the dependable manager, full of common sense, that the master puts in charge of his staff to feed them well and on time? He is a blessed man if when the master shows up he’s doing his job. But if he says to himself, ‘The master is certainly taking his time,’ begins maltreating the servants and maids, throws parties for his friends, and gets drunk, the master will walk in when he least expects it, give him the thrashing of his life, and put him back in the kitchen peeling potatoes.

47-48 “The servant who knows what his master wants and ignores it, or insolently does whatever he pleases, will be thoroughly thrashed. But if he does a poor job through ignorance, he’ll get off with a slap on the hand. Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities!

To Start a Fire

49-53 “I’ve come to start a fire on this earth—how I wish it were blazing right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything rightside up—how I long for it to be finished! i hate this class

  1: when you have cereal, do you have more milk than cereal or more cereal than milk? More milk. I let the cat drink it.
