Finally getting around to completing this Canadian Community Health Survey that I’ve been randomly selected for and one of the first questions is “On a scale of one to ten, how satisfied are you with your life right now?”

Like damn J-dawg, you’re coming at me right outta the gate.

when I drew this comic 3 years ago I had NO idea how far it would reach. I'm happy to finally share a corrected version with proper abbreviations, and even MORE state names of indigenous origin ♥️

however, the goal of this comic was to inspire people to do your OWN research on indigenous history. To question everything we have been taught, and everything that has been pointedly left out. This erasure, this “forgetting”, of history is not just of the past… it is happening now. - Across so-called Canada, the US, and US-occupied islands, native women are victims of murder at 10-12x the rate of non-native people, and are the most likely to go missing without being searched for by the law. - Native reservations have the highest rates of poverty in the US, with over HALF of tribal homes with no access to clean water (with more joining this list by the year) - Native people are 6-10x more likely to be unhoused than the rest of the population, and native teens suffer suicide rates higher than any other demographic. This list of modern day genocide goes on (thank you for compiling @theindigenousanarchist <3) and yet take a look at those environmental stats!

Native people manage to do SO much for the planet as a whole - thanklessly - and with all this stacked against them. Don't even get me started on kin fighting in south america. Could you imagine if there was help? #landback is resistance to genocide, and it is the key to saving our warming earth.

So look into it and the other hashtags, cuz a cartoon goose ain't a substitute for a proper education. Love to my grandparents who always kept a map of tribal territories of turtle island on their wall, to speaking on our Tsalagi & Saponi heritage. Tomorrow Copa and Euro will enter the Quarter Final and I've summed up the disciplinary statistic between the tournaments

I think this is the perfect time to do a summary as the two tournaments are on pause. I've been gathering the data from UEFA website and ESPN also AS.

Having watching the two tournaments closely I know that the two are as chaotic, although in this case the Euro IS the more chaotic. Also, the ref is a huge factor, in Euro the refs are more inclined to call the fouls and penalized the players, but in Copa, the refs are more inclined to only call the fouls.

I make this while sleep deprived. I'm sure there are lots of other things that can be pulled out from this data but I'm way too tired to speculate more and I need sleep to watch the upcoming matcheess..see you all soon! XO

Logistically I understand WHY people I meet assume I am American when they first talk to me but I have to admit it is a little frustrating

So in Canada alone thats 455,700 people with a long covid bad enough to limit their activities of daily living (that means personal care, housework, normal stuff that abled people take for granted). 455,700 people who have it just as bad as me. Oh and btw its 2.1 million with symptoms that are not going away at all.

A violent transgender sex offender with a history of making toddler sex abuse material was released from prison on Monday only to be re-arrested days later on new offenses. Laverne Travis Waskahat, 47, had accumulated a trove of baby-related items and sexual drawings of children in the 72 hours he was in the community.

Waskahat has an extensive history of criminal activity dating back years in the province of Alberta, with almost all of his convictions relating to child sexual abuse. According to the Edmonton Police Service, Waskahat has a history of possessing, making and publishing child pornography involving male and female infants under three years old. 

Waskahat has been known to offend against the children while in a position of care over the child and has also been known to take voyeuristic photos in public of infants. These photos were often taken in publicly-accessible bathrooms, such as in malls and grocery stores.

When Waskahat was released on December 11, police issued a firestorm of public notices warning that  they had “reasonable grounds to believe [he] is of significant harm to the community” and is a risk of committing a sexual offense against a child under the age of 16.

But Waskahat’s freedom didn’t last long, and he was re-arrested on December 14 after failing to notify his parole officer of his whereabouts.

In a media statement, Edmonton Police revealed they had received a tip that traced Waskahat to a hotel room in the city’s West Side. At the time of his arrest, police found a baby crib, diapers, dozens of alleged pornographic drawings and a laptop in Waskahat’s room.

He is now facing new charges of making child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Past public information notices on Waskahat reveal the extent of the conditions he has been subjected to, speaking to the severity of his risk to public safety. Among the conditions, Waskahat was subjected to a 10pm to 6am curfew, a total ban on possessing devices that accessed the internet, a ban on consuming pornography of any kind, and a ban on viewing any photos of children whether explicit or not. Due to his history of grooming, Waskahat was also prohibited from entering into a relationship with a person who had custody of a child under the age of 16.

In 2019, Waskahat was convicted on three charges, one of which involved accessing pornography of infants in diapers. At the time, he had just been released from prison after serving a sentence for producing and possessing sexual abuse materials involving infants under the age of 3.

According to news reports released at the time, the charges had initially been entered in court using “male pronouns” that were “updated” after Waskahat declared his status as a “transgender woman.” Subsequent police releases on Waskahat referred to him using “she/her” pronouns.

"MIXED MARRIAGES IN ONTARIO MANY," Windsor Record. October 30, 1913. Page 1. ---- Toronto, Oct. 30. - That the Ne Temere decree is not working out to the absolute stoppage of mixed marriages is shown in the annual report of the registrar-general of the province issued today.

According to the figures, 820 men and 1,096 women married outside their faith.

The number of marriages totalled 28,445. Nearly two-thirds of those married were between 20 and 30 years of age. The unusual marriages included a man of 25, who married a woman over 70 and three women under 30 marrying men over 70.

The province showed a reduced death rate for the year, lower than in many other countries. On the other hand there is the announcement that one of every ten infants in Ontario dies before attaining the fifth year.

The birth-rate was 22.4 per thousand, the lowest since 1902. In 1911 it was 22.6.

Deaths numbered 32,150, or 12.4 per thousand, or 2 lower than in 1911. Illegitimate births showed an increase of 168. Seventy-two per cent. of these births were in cities.

The battle with the white plague showed good progress. There was a total of 2,250 deaths, but this was a decrease of 103 and a decrease in percentage of 05. About seven per cent. of the deaths in Ontario were from tuberculosis. The heaviest death rate from the disease is between 20 and 30 years of age.

One out of every ten infants die before its fifth year. There were 8,230 of such deaths, while 6,494 died before completing 12 months. Two hundred less died from diarr- hoea than in 1911, the lowest in six years.

This was attributed to the greater interest in child welfare and the successful efforts to educate young mo- thers in the care of children.
