California: Sooooo, Gov, there's this thing I've wanted to ask you abou–
Gov: No.
California: Come on, why not?!
Gov: For the last time, NO. You are not getting split into smaller states! It's impractical, and you've already asked me 220 times! And what did I say then?
California: *sighs* You said no... But! Here me out!
Gov: NO.
California: *pouts* >:(

Consider this a direct response to these Heritage Foundation “theocratic” christofascists. A letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802 in response to their letter to him in 1801. It is as follows, Heretowith:
Gentlemen
The affectionate sentiments of esteem and approbation which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury Baptist association, give me the highest satisfaction. my duties dictate a faithful and zealous pursuit of the interests of my constituents, & in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to those duties, the discharge of them becomes more and more pleasing.
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.
Congress thus inhibited from acts respecting religion, and the Executive authorised only to execute their acts, I have refrained from prescribing even those occasional performances of devotion, practiced indeed by the Executive of another nation as the legal head of its church, but subject here, as religious exercises only to the voluntary regulations and discipline of each respective sect.
Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.
I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection & blessing of the common father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves & your religious association assurances of my high respect & esteem.
(signed) Thomas Jefferson
Jan.1.1802.
Thus Jefferson is saying go to Church, worship god in anyway you see fit secure in the knowledge that the govt won’t interfere at all, and conversely, that same govt will not respect your religion more than any other—or no religion—other than respecting its right to exist.

Note
How many presidents served in the cabinet of another president?
I'm not including anyone who served as Vice President because the Vice President hasn't always been a member of the Cabinet. It wasn't until the 20th Century, as the role of the Vice Presidency began to evolve and become more influential, that VPs became de facto Cabinet members in every Administration. Some early Vice Presidents had virtually no role in the Administrations they were elected to be a part of.
In the first 50 years of the Presidency, five of the first eight Presidents served as Secretary of State, and it appeared as if the State Department was the stepping stone to the White House. Three Presidents in a row (Madison, Monroe, and J.Q. Adams) were elected directly to the Presidency from the State Department, and ambitious Presidential contenders jockeyed to be appointed as Secretary of State in hopes that it would launch them into the White House, as well. However, a former Secretary of State has not won an election as President in 188 years.
Surprisingly, there have only been NINE Presidents who had experience serving in the Cabinet of another President, and there's an argument that the total is only eight since I'm including Ulysses S. Grant despite the fact that he was the Acting Secretary of War for part of President Andrew Johnson's Administration.
It has been nearly 100 years since a former Cabinet Secretary was elected to the White House.
•Thomas Jefferson: Secretary of State under President Washington (1790-1793) •James Madison: Secretary of State under President Jefferson (1801-1809) •James Monroe: Secretary of State under President Madison (1811-1817); Secretary of War under President Madison (1814-1815) •John Quincy Adams: Secretary of State under President Monroe (1817-1825) •Martin Van Buren: Secretary of State under President Jackson (1829-1831) •James Buchanan: Secretary of State under President Polk (1845-1849) •Ulysses S. Grant: Acting Secretary of War under President Andrew Johnson (1867-1868) •William Howard Taft: Secretary of War under President Theodore Roosevelt (1904-1908) •Herbert Hoover: Secretary of Commerce under President Harding & President Coolidge (1921-1928) *George H.W. Bush was Director of Central Intelligence under President Ford (1974-1977). While the DCI is a member of the National Security Council, it was only elevated to a Cabinet-level position under Presidents Trump and Biden.

Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint, OR (No. 6)
The Crooked River is a tributary, 125 miles (201 km) long, of the Deschutes River in the U.S. state of Oregon. The river begins at the confluence of the South Fork Crooked River and Beaver Creek in southeastern Crook County. Of the two tributaries, the South Fork Crooked River is the larger and is sometimes considered part of the Crooked River proper. A variant name of the South Fork Crooked River is simply "Crooked River". The Deschutes River flows north into the Columbia River.
The South Fork Crooked River originates in an area called Misery Flat, along the Deschutes County, Lake County and Harney County boundaries, north of Glass Buttes. The South Fork's tributaries drain Hampton Buttes to the west and Mackey Butte to the east. The South Fork Crooked River flows north for 76 miles (122 km), collecting tributaries including Buck Creek and Twelvemile Creek before joining Beaver Creek to form the Crooked River proper near Paulina in Crook County.
