Rewatching the original Livewire episode of 90s Superman last week and rewatching the premiere of My Adventures With Superman a few days later really put something into perspective...
The new one is much, much better.
Granted, Lori Petty's voice is iconic, and her character has a ton of charisma...but boy, is she wasted in that. Her character's just mean and arrogant and selfish...which isn't terrible, it's very relevant, especially today, but it wears off pretty quickly. And I know they never gave her a character arc later on in the show; I think the most she does is team up with Parasite once and then cross over to fight Batgirl and Supergirl. Comparing her to other villains like Volcanica and Metallo really puts a stamp on just how much of a Monster of the Week she was.
But that's not even the problem.
The problem is that she's created when lightning strikes a pole and Superman pulls her out of the way to save her...inadvertently channeling the lightning through him and giving her lightning powers. I don't know if anyone realizes that Superman created Livewire, but they certainly don't acknowledge it or make it a plot point. Clark drops her off at the hospital and washes his hands of the matter. The rest of the episode is just him working to take her in.
There's no anger from Leslie that he's turned her into something (but she's excited for it, anyway, so that's also not an issue), or resolution from Clark to fix her. There are several story options, but...no. They just fight. And I get it. It was the nineties. You needed weekly villains, something the kids could come home from school, tune in, and just see some colorful, flashy action going on.
My Adventures With Superman has Leslie bring the lightning powers on herself. Superman saves her from exploding as the alien tech goes out of control, and when he frees her, he gently lays her down on a step....and then, when his back is turned, she's spirited away and kidnapped to a holding facility. He doesn't ignore her: she's taken from him.
Then she breaks out, joins the Kill-Superman squad, breaks out of prison, becomes a mercenary...she's not exactly going through Major Character Arcs, but she's Living.
Or. Trying to.
The point is, the new Livewire brings more to both her own character and Superman's character. Clark isn't callously abandoning her to the prison system; he keeps trying to keep her in line when she shows up, and just keeps focusing on protecting people.
IT'S HEALTHIER FOR BOTH OF THEM.

How long do you think Livewire would go on with the Super-Cult bullshit? I feel like she would insist on it with heroes in and out of the superfam, like Kong Kenan, Billy, Claire Clover, Apollo, the Steels, Mr. Majestic…
As long as targeting marginalized people continues to rake in money and clout for online grifters, I have bad news for how long Livewire would keep up her Kryptonian hate campaign! She'd have to adjust her narrative with other types of Supers. It's all an extension of the grift.
#askjesncin#one of my fav lines in original STAS Livewire is when Lois asks Leslie if she believes in “the garbage u say about Supes”#and Leslie says she has to be bigger louder and better to get by as a woman in order to pay the bills#it's left ambiguous whether she believes in the grift or not. She's so fascinating like that. perfect for modern adaptation and commentary.

[for @possibilistfanfiction started out as smth soft n goofy for u, then tilted toward sad :/ sorry. also i guess this is canon divergence where ava doesn't go through the portal but also she's fine? cannot emphasise enough that im not Thinking just vibe w me]
//
there's a bath in jillian's safe house, a really good one. it's deep and fancy, in the way that really expensive things are where they're sort of deceptively simple—it doesn't have a billion dials, or jets, it's just a comfortably large tub made of some heavy, smooth material that your fingertips glide over when you touch it.
you're dying to fill it to the brim with burning hot water and just. soak. for one hour, maybe twenty. you heard somewhere that a hot bath is good for aches and pains and that sounds like exactly what you need. you hurt now, everywhere. your body, your skin, your heart.
'ava?'
beatrice is hovering in the doorway. she looks totally serene but that's a fucking lie and you know it is because there's no way she can be calm, be serene, because you fought and killed an angel (big question mark there) and saw and rescued god (two big question marks) and you kissed her (you kissed her and she kissed you back) and no one was supposed to die but michael isn't here in this big house that his mum bought so that she could lock herself away in it and rip open time and space and save him and she let you back into her house even though you let him die and beatrice is standing in the doorway of the bathroom and there's two strands of hair knocked loose from her bun and the sight of it saves you, a little bit. you're going to lose your mind thinking about angels and gods and the halo in your spine and the way your whole nervous system feels like a livewire right now, stinging you raw from the inside out, but beatrice is here and you want to touch her hair. tuck the strands behind her ear. maybe, if you're lucky, she'll let you linger. twist one around your finger so you can feel the silken slide of it.
'yeah,' you croak, 'hi.'
beatrice smiles. her eyes roam over your face. she can't look away and you knew that she loved you before you kissed her, before you left her, because everything she wouldn't let her hands do, she did with her eyes instead. beatrice wants to touch you now—you want that too, of course, but you don't know how yet and you're hurting—so she stares.
'i can run a bath,' she offers. 'i can do that for you.'
you'll do anything for her. you'll die for her. you'll strip down out of your bloody clothes so that she can look but not touch. you'll let her run a bath for you.
'please.'
beatrice steps into the bathroom. it's about as big as the whole apartment had been, back in your little mountain town, but it doesn't feel like it. there's nothing in the world but you and beatrice and the four paces that separate you; the world is closing in around you and your shoulders are shaking from holding the collapse at bay. atlas, you think, was lucky. he was all alone. but there's a girl in front of you who wants to take some of the burden off your shoulders and you want to let her, except the burden is you and you don't know how to hand it off gracefully, you don't know how to divide the weight evenly, you don' t know how to split the world into orange slices and hand her just the northern hemisphere, or just your fear and trust. you don't want to hurt her but it's crushing you.
the taps open. water spills from the spigots, steam curling up toward the ceiling. she pours something into the water—lavender? its dusty, dusky in your nose, on your tongue. white froth builds in the base of the tub and grows.
beatrice is pouring you a bubble bath. you're going to cry, definitely; it's not a matter of if but when.
you sit on the edge of the tub and start to peel off your armour. it takes time to figure out how; teeth gritted, fingers curling stiff and unhelpful into your palms, you have to ask for her help.
'does it hurt?'
'no,' you lie.
beatrice stares at you hard but pretends to believe you, which is nice of her. she opens you up, peels your armour away like the skin of an orange. maybe there's something citrus in the bubbles she poured out, maybe you're hungry, maybe you're tripping fantastic on jillian's pain medication and thinking way too much about the gold light of adriel's church and how kissing beatrice had stung, just a little.
'stand up,' she says instead, and helps with your pants too. she's touching you, so she's looking away, eyes averted. you wonder what it would feel like if she let herself look and touch, both at the same time, and then quickly stop when it makes your head spin more than it already is. 'careful getting into the tub.'
her hands are on your elbows. they always seemed like weird body parts to you, useful only for bending your arms, helping you reach out with your hands. now, when she is touching you there, you think they might be the best thing god (huge question mark) ever invented. you tuck the feeling away for later, for some fun alone time, and refocus on the way her fingers tremble and her hair isn't perfect.
'i'm okay,' you tell her, because she hasn't looked at you, and you think she might not realise—the divinium is gone, the shrapnel tugged out of your chest and belly and legs, even the little bit by your wrist. then, you step into the tub and the water is hot and you feel like it's searing away all your fear-sweat and blood and as you start to half-fall, half-sink down into it, you say, 'will you stay?' because you got exploded a little and if there's ever a time to capitalise on that, it's now.
beatrice keeps her eyes on the ceiling as she lowers you down into the water. it sloshes over the side, splashes a line at beatrice's thigh where she's leaning against the side of the tub to help you.
'you don't have to. you don't have to do anything. you don't.'
'i'll stay,' beatrice says, and now that you're covered by the water and bubbles, she looks at you. looks at your lips and lifts her hand to touch your cheek, thumb at the corner of your mouth.
you want to kiss her again. you want to fall asleep. you want to sit in this bath and cry and hold her hand. you think, wildly, with a little luck you will get to do all of those things and more.
'do you want to get in here with me?' you ask, because if you believe in anything in this world it is pushing your luck. pulling your knees up to your chest. the water is deep enough that they only barely break the surface.
beatrice smiles. 'yes.'
'holy shit.'
'but i won't.'
'totally fair.'
'but...' she strokes the corner of your mouth, and you swear you feel the water heat up another degree around you. 'i want. i want to stay.'

Howdy! Long-ish lurker, first time asker. Your posts the other day(s?) about encouraging people to put themselves out there, and also the general vibes of your shebbz shouts have inspired me to start blogging. But that's not important! What IS important is that recently I managed to introduce my friend to Superman TAS (unrelated to your blogging about it) and we've been having a blast. His thoughts pretty much boil down to: Lois being sassy towards Perry? EPIC! Livewire being sassy towards Superman? AMAZING. Lex Luthor being Lex Luthor? OFF THE CHARTS. But this is only important for context!
What's REALLY important is that a few days ago we were watching the two-part opening to Season 2 and we started noticing that in some frames Mala has rounded ears, and in others she has pointed ears. Then we noticed the same thing is going on with Jax-Ur's ears! We started paying more attention until we spotted one scene from 8:15-8:22 where Jax-Ur's ears shapeshift frame-by-frame before your very eyes and we were HOWLING with laughter and replaying it over and over
MUAHAHAHA!!! YES!!! MY EVIL PLAN (to encourage people to interact with each other and use the microblogging site for actual blogging and human connection) IS COMING TO FRUITION!!!! also good to hear other people are liking this show. it's such a fun way to wind down and have a giggle when i'm too tuckered out to draw between classes, and the fight choreography is both impressive on a technical level (the mail truck scene is a personal fav) AND just plain cool and hilarious to watch.
i take a lot of random screenshots of brilliant, funny, or weird stas & btas frames to send to my friend, but several of the pics i took of that two-parter were just "oh mala looks great here".
i admit i love mala VERY MUCH. she's serving boethiah to me. she's so CUTE and SILLY and about as jacked as they'll let a chick get in these shows. i think she should be let out of the hell dimension to blow stuff up for fun here and there as a special treat because i like her. I SUPPORT WOMEN'S WRONGS!!!!
#this post got away from me. look i just think mala has girl power and i respect her go-getter attitude#shebbz shoutz#stas#superman#mala#shebbz screenshotz#ask

Intergang: how MAWS can tap into its potential
We’re halfway through My Adventures With Superman and I love this show a lot so far. It’s easily one of my favorite Superman adaptations and I love talking about it with my friends every week. The characters are all charming and understandable, I find the story very interesting so far, its animation is mostly solid and is carried by an art style I absolutely love, I can recommend it to just about anyone.
I will say though, one thing that kinda frustrates me about the show currently is how centered discussion is on Clark and Lois. And I get it, they’re the two main characters of the mythos as well as the show and they’re both very cute and very good characters. That being said, I feel like the other characters deserve their time to shine. Jimmy is my favorite character in the show so far and he’s (ironically) been pretty shafted in terms of discussion. The villains get it the worst though. Imma be honest, even if I can see the complaints for the villains all currently being tech based (even though that’s in favor of the story), it’s the writing on a fundamental level that I’m concerned about. And yes, I think that MAWS handles its villains far better than STAS. While STAS’s villains are very inconsistent, MAWS’s villains are all in the same ballpark in terms of writing and each and every single one of them deserves exploration. And I wanna talk about the villains that I think have the most potential: Intergang.
So let’s get stuff cleared up first since the episode keeps it vague and as such most people and the wikis don’t take this into account.
Silver Banshee is Siobhan McDougal, that’s pretty clear in the episode. Mist in the episode is simply addressed to as Kyle, and a lot assume it’s Nimbus even though the episode never really states that, nor do the credits. However, he refers to Siobhan as his sister more than once, which Albert doesn’t do. And if we look at this promotional material, the article addresses Mist as Kyle McDougal. In MAWS, Siobhan and Kyle are biological siblings. Rough House isn’t biologically related to the two, rather a very good friend. This is another thing the episode doesn’t state but in MAWS, Rough House is Albert Donovan which references how Rough House is a clone working for Intergang in the comics and Dr. Dabney Donovan is a Superman rogue also from the comics who specializes in cloning. In fact, he made Rough House in the comics. So this lays out the dynamic of the group that a lot of people seem to miss: Siobhan and Kyle are biological siblings, Albert is found family. Pretty small potatoes compared to everyone else admittedly. Onto the main point: Intergang have the best dynamic out of any of the villains in the series so far.
I feel like the best way to put it is that Siobhan, Kyle and Albert sorta mirror Lois, Clark and Jimmy in a way. Given a lot of the drama in the later episodes, Intergang acts a reflection of the intern trio: not taken seriously and barely given opportunity to rise up. Main difference is that Intergang has been doing their schtick for a lot longer, and thus their bond is a lot closer. Let’s start with Siobhan:
Siobhan acts as in a leader role not too far off from Lois. Siobhan genuinely cares for both Kyle and Albert but serves as the middle ground for Kyle and Albert’s back and forths instead. She also contrasts well with Livewire from the last episode, as Siobhan is constantly positive with the trio and searches for an opportunity to grab respect. She’s also leans harder into the leadership role than Lois does. Kyle and Albert follow her a lot more than Jimmy and Clark follow Lois (which may also have to do with their different positions) and she doesn’t exclude them from the dynamic because they all have the same end goal. Heck, Kyle and Albert burst into Stryker’s just to free Siobhan. Also, Siobhan in general just has a lot of that same energy that makes Lois so fun, just with some more punkishness to her and her respect for the people she loves is probably above her pursuit for respect itself.
And next up we have Kyle:
This may surprise you but I think Kyle mirrors Clark the most for a few reasons. The biggest of which being caution. Siobhan and Albert share a LOT of the same energy together and Kyle basically acts as the straight man to their more active attitudes. Kyle acts pretty secretively compared to the other two with a big desire to hide their real names and is really critical of Albert especially. Their back and forths are basically that small crack in the trio as Kyle’s tolerance for the slip ups is not very high at all. It’s clear that he works with Albert for Siobhan’s sake but even then their first appearance shows that they’re willing to put aside a lot for the end goal and the trio functions well because of that. I’ve seen people push him aside and him getting cut from the opening does make me a little scared for the future but either way I love Kyle. He helps balance out the trio a lot and he’s very entertaining in general.
And finally, we have Albert:
I definitely see Albert as the Jimmy of the group for… a lot of reasons actually. Rough House is the most consistently enthusiastic in the group, he’s a bit of a goofball, he can come off as frustrating to Kyle especially (while Lois and Clark more so see Jimmy as more of an oddball), and Kyle and Siobhan already have a connection that Albert’s not in, this time being the biological kind. The big difference? Albert is consistently included in the group. He’s clearly Siobhan’s best friend and Kyle brings him along to free Siobhan even while being frustrated with him. It actually makes sense to me that people refer to both Kyle and Albert as Siobhan’s brothers since yeah, Albert’s basically family to them.
Now, Intergang’s only got one episode so far and Superman’s villains are notorious for being underutilized. Whether it be Parasite, Livewire, Toyman or even Silver Banshee, they could always have room for more expansion. My hope is that MAWS will actually expand on its villains this time so how do I think Intergang can be expanded on?
First idea: contrast them with other villains. Livewire and Heat Wave both have gangs much bigger than the trio but Leslie puts her gang down and Heat Wave’s gang ditches her. Intergang functions much better as a unit even if Livewire and Heat Wave have more experience. Plus, compared to those two we haven’t gotten any glimpses on their reactions to Task Force X, mainly because they were the first ones captured after Livewire. Maybe make the trio more interested in what Waller offers compared to the other criminals. Or at least write it in a way where Task Force X, whether they oblige or resist, are their rise to fame.
Second idea: include Jimmy. I love Jimmy’s relationship with Siobhan in the Williamson run. Do I think it can work here? Absolutely! Both of them bring their respective trios together and their personalities would compliment each other well. I see it as with Clark and Lois dealing with relationship stuff, Jimmy ends up forming one with Siobhan and as a result is welcomed into the trio as a friend. Kyle would be suspicious but at the end of the day he just wants what’s best for his sister.
Third idea: SUPERPOWERS!!! Kyle and Albert I think work fine with just their tech but Siobhan’s definitely the odd one out. I feel like a storyline involving her gaining them would be really interesting, especially since we have seen what it would be like is Siobhan didn’t have control over what she ended up being capable of. Plus it could give more of Kyle and Albert working together for Siobhan and I’d be down to see more of that. Or Siobhan going solo for Kyle and Albert’s safety. Or Mist getting powers and Jimmy trying to help him out and both of them gain mutual respect, the possibilities are endless!
I’ll reblog and update this whenever we get more significant appearances from the trio, I feel like it’s pretty guaranteed we’ll see them again before season 1 ends. I made this because I love this trio, I feel like I’m the only one who cares about them and I feel like I’m the only one who’ll care if the show somehow manages to screw their dynamic up. Either way, I’m holding out hope and I also hope this little study got you more interested in the trio. Whether its fanart, fanfics, edits, what have you, show your love for MAWS Intergang if you can! I know I will.

That's definitely accurate! She is such a chaotic villain! I wish they had done more with her, possibly even giving her a spinoff series of her own.
People who say Livewire on Superman the Animated Series is an inferior Harley Quinn are absolutely wrong. She's a superior Joker!

So i finished MAWS and...
It was really good! I can't belive it took this long to actually get a good interpretation of Superman, and lovable himbo is exactly that. I loved the art style and stylistic choice to make everyone a twink because, in comparison to Clark, everyone WOULD be a twink. Although it does urk me a little that the multiverse episode was key to Kryptonite getting to earth and Superman realizing he's from Krypton.
All the villains are awesome and Livewire has been one of my fav Superman villains since i saw her in STAS. Parasites design was INCREDIBLE and i loved just how anime he was.
Score: 9/10

With the release of the first few episodes of ‘My Adventures with Superman’, there’s going to be a lot of people who are going to compare the new cartoon to the older cartoon, namely the 90s DCAU ‘Superman: The Animated Series’. For now, I don’t think that’s a fair comparison, since STAS is a cartoon that has had 68 episodes, while MAWS has only had three. It’s a little frustrating that some people are immediately dismissing MAWS because they don’t believe it will live up to the original, but I also wanted to talk about Superman: The Animated Series and why I don’t put it on the same pedestal as a lot of Superman fans tend to do.
Now to be fair, STAS has a lot going for it. It is a very competent and streamlined adaptation of the Superman comics. The show is primarily based on the John Byrne reboot of the Superman comics, and while I’ve previously expressed my disdain of those comics, the cartoon itself actually fixes a lot of my problems with Byrne Superman. For one, the STAS portrayal of Krypton is much more idealized compared to the Byrne portrayal of Krypton as a dying dystopia which means that while Byrne’s Superman completely dismissed his connection to Krypton, the STAS Superman has a natural curiosity and fondness for the planet and its people.
But when you put aside the comparisons to the comics, the show still holds up on its own merits. The animation is pretty solid, if a little stiff in some episodes. The character designs are also pretty good - I especially love the design for Lois in this show. It may have been the first Superman adaptation to give her a purple color scheme, and that color just works so well for her.
But the characters are also well written for the most part. Superman as the main character is smart and competent as he should be, but he also has a little bit of a cheeky side, which I really like. Tim Daly was the voice actor for Superman in this show, and he does an excellent job portraying both the Superman persona and the Clark Kent persona. As Superman, he is appropriately cool and confident. As Clark Kent, he’s a little more reserved and laid-back, and that works for this adaptation where there isn’t a huge divide between the two personas. The other voice actors are also perfect for the roles that they’re given. Dana Delany perfectly captures the snarky, yet warm nature of Lois Lane, while Clancy Brown nails the cold, calculating and charismatic nature of Lex Luthor. These voice actors are often considered to be the definitive voices of the characters, and there’s a good reason for that. They’re really, really good.
The show does suffer a bit in the supporting cast, as characters like Perry White, Jimmy Olsen and the Kents are mostly unmemorable outside of a couple of scenes, but it’s not too bad. It does have some fun takes on characters like John Henry Irons and especially Supergirl - I much prefer this take on Supergirl compared to the convoluted mess of the comics Supergirl at the time.
The villains are well done for the most part. The standout is off course, Lex Luthor, the rich, charismatic businessman who manages to keep his sinister deeds hidden from the public eye. He’s the overarching villain of the show and he always manages to keep the heroes on their toes. But on the other hand you also have revamps of characters like Brainiac, Toyman and Metallo which were mostly solid. The show also invents new characters like Livewire and Volcana. I don’t much care for Livewire as I thought she was a bit one note, but I love Volcana.
I think she’s very underrated as the ‘Catwoman’ archetype for this version of Superman, and I wish she would make in more appearances in other Superman stories. Even the comics haven’t done anything with her. Fingers crossed that ‘My Adventures with Superman’ brings the character back.
Superman The Animated Series really cemented Darkseid as a Superman villain. He makes sporadic appearances throughout the show, but his episodes are easily the best in the entire show, as he almost always manages to raise the stakes to a nigh-apocalyptic level. Micheal Ironside is the perfect voice actor for Darkseid, as he perfectly captures the ruthless and cunning nature of the character. I especially love how subtle and nuanced his portrayal of Darkseid is - he’s very quiet and restrained, but that does not in any way take away from his menacing presence.
So with all that said, what are problems with this show, aside from the nitpicks that I mentioned above ? Well, I think that there is three fundamental problems with the show. The first is its strict adherence of the status quo. Superman: The Animated Series is a very status quo driven show and as a result it doesn’t have a lot of rewatch value. A lot of the episodes fall into the simple villain-of-the-week formula, and there’s not a lot about those episodes that make it stand out from other superhero shows. The show never resolves the romantic tension between Lois and Clark - the two characters have a will-they-won’t-they dynamic that never changes until the literal final episode. This is a very big problem, since the romance between Lois and Clark is one of the best things in most Superman stories. You can make some very compelling stories about the progression of the romance between Clark and Lois, and if you need proof of that, just look at Jeff Loveness’ “Glasses”, a short comic that thoroughly explores the nuances of the romance.
But ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ never actually tries to develop the romance, it never has the characters get into a relationship and deal with the complications of being in a relationship. Hell, I don’t even know if this version of Lois Lane ever managed to figure out Superman’s secret identity in this show and its sequels.
The adherence of the status quo also hurts the dynamic between Superman and Lex Luthor. You’ll notice that Superman never manages to earn a definitive victory against Luthor. He gets a few victories here and there, but he never manages to expose Luthor’s misdeeds to the public and put him away in prison. This is because the show wants to maintain the status quo of Luthor as the villain with good publicity, but it also means that this version of Superman comes across as incredibly ineffectual for never managing to actually defeat his greatest rival.
The second problem with this show is its portrayal of Superman. Now, I praised this show for getting a lot right with the character, but the problem is that this version of Superman is a very static character. He never actually changes or undergoes any major character development for the majority of the show. As such, this version of Superman isn’t a particularly engaging character to follow. He’s very plain and dare I say, kinda boring ? I know that a lot of Superman fans might cringe at that, because they’ve had to constantly deal with casual fans calling Superman boring, but it’s unfortunately true for this version of Superman. Now to be fair, this version of the character does get a lot of character development in the Justice League cartoon which is a direct successor to this show, but isn’t it damning that every interesting thing that happens to this character happens in a show where he isn’t even the main character ? And honestly, I’m not a huge fan of his time in the Justice League show either. That show goes too far in how it portrays Superman as a extremely flawed character. To be frank, he just comes across as a stubborn asshole rather than the sympathetic character that the writers wanted him to be.
And finally, the third problem with this show is that, well - it’s unambitious. When you compare it to the other DC shows at the time - Batman the Animated Series, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited - the show is just middle of the road. It’s not a bad show by any means, but it doesn’t do a lot to stand out from other, better superhero shows. There is nothing in ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ that can hold a candle to the ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ episodes such as ‘Heart of Ice’, ‘Mad Love’, or ‘Two-Face’. Those episodes are still pretty groundbreaking for how well they handle serious and mature topics for what was ultimately a kids cartoon. Even the best episodes of ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ don’t come close to that level of quality.
If you want a good idea of just how unambitious ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ is, just take a look at “Battle of the Superheroes”, a Superman centric episode in the ‘Batman: Brave and the Bold’ cartoon.
That single, 20 minute episode captures the charm, the fun and the creativity of the Superman comics and characters way better than all 68 episodes of ‘Superman: The Animated Series’. You can tell that the creators behind “Battle of the Superheroes” truly loved Superman and his world, while the creators behind ‘Superman: The Animated Series’...well, let’s just say that both Paul Dini and especially Bruce Timm are way bigger fanboys of Batman instead of Superman, and it shows in how they’ve written the character over the years.
So that’s my thoughts on Superman: The Animated Series. Needless to say, I don’t think that it holds up quite as much as the fanboys would insist and I say that ‘My Adventures with Superman’ has more than enough potential to surpass it.
Now the tie-in comic though is an underrated gem of a series, and every Superman fan should check it out. In many ways it’s better than the show that it’s based on.
