I did all of my holiday baking last night
I woke up, ate breakfast, and baked for nine and a half hours straight
I made 212 cookies
I feel like i blacked out and the spirit of a manic 85yo took over

Are you seriously trying to say forced conversion to Christianity didn't happen?
a lotta ppl were forcibly converted to christianity, that isn't deniable. but for scandiavians the process wasn't a violent, forceful one overall. in places like denmark they encountered christianity through raids, and taking christian slaves or wives. in other places kings or leaders would agree to convert and build a church, so it led to little pockets of christianity. and over all the process took literal centuries because people either did or didn't want to give up the old gods. things like "we will send you soldiers and give you political power" was a lot more valuable in the conversion process as ppl tended to follow political leaders rather than say, destruction of old places of worship, burning old books, killing people, and kidnapping children.
norse people for one didn't have many things in the way of concrete temples like you see in rome. nor did they have books for their religions as most of it was oral traditions. there was no one norse religion monolith to tackle and discredit. and like i said people were more utilitarian with religion--you worshiped the gods because the gods had something of value be it history, boons, protection, etc. if a better god comes along you might take up worshiping him. and even when people converted they tended to do it in a old gods style--old stories and traditions survived for CENTURIES in some form of another purely orally past christianization for that reason.
like. there are a lot of cases to be mad about pope sanctioned forced conversion. many slavic ppl experienced it. the irish and scottish experienced it. countless people of cultures forcibly colonized by western powers (see: the americas, parts of asia, parts of africa, parts of the middle east) experienced it. you don't need to come up to bat for us in particular i promise. it is not our pain to bemoan. and talking about cases of where christianization wasn't horrifically violent is important i think because it means: yeah the church didn't have to do any of that. at all. if people wanna covert they will and trying to force it just leads to the destruction of culture and with it all the knowledge baked into that culture.

//Thanksgiving is now officially over in the entirety of the US, and we all know what that means. It's time for Yule! Christmas? Never met her. Nope, Yule time. Planning to get my tree up, my various decorations out, and my alter changed over this weekend. Putting the Halloween decorations up too, because those never got put up this year. I was sick and stressed out for all of spooky season. So I'm decorating for "Hallowmas." I mean, Halloween is gay Christmas, after all. It fits. Shhhhhh, no, my decorations make sense. 🤫 >_>;;;
