So, I feel like people need to take a more consistent approach to this because it's confusing af to people.

People will say "Listen to BDS!" Then get angry when others don't boycott companies BDS isn't telling them to boycott.

As seen in the graphic, there are different types of actions called for.

Companies in the upper left rectangle are companies BDS is calling on us to boycott. There are a lot of companies that have some connection to Israel that benefit Israel in some way. Boycotting them all is ineffective because most people can't boycott such a wide range of companies. So BDS focuses on just the ones listed.

Companies in the upper right corner are really more divestment targets. More for big companies and orgs to act on. The BDS website explains it better.

The companies in the lower right corner are boycotts not organized by BDS, but which they nonetheless support. Generally speaking, these are companies who don't have as much impact on the genocide, but whom grassroots organizers decided to boycott for their support of Israel.

And then there's the lower left. These are not boycott targets, and this is significant because while people have been calling for boycotts of some of these companies, BDS had not yet moved them to the lower right corner. Basically, they are asking people to put pressure on these companies. This can mean signing one of BDS' petitions to them, protesting, writing to them, or a full or partial boycott.

Now obviously if people want to boycott Disney, that's great.

But I think we need to be careful about how to present calls to boycott because when people say boycott Disney, McDonalds, and Starbucka and listen to BDS, they are giving the false impression that these are the companies BDS has asked people to boycott.

Seiji's a barista's worst nightmare because his orders are always so obnoxiously long and tedious. I can't give you just one order because he likes to experiment but if it has less than 10 shots of espresso and the stir stick isn't standing up by itself from all the sugar and syrup crammed into one cup, it's water to Seiji. Yan unabashedly swears by the pink drink with sweat cream and vanilla. Teito can't fucking taste anything and he doesn't feel like he needs the caffeine so he goes for a healthy hot water cup while picking up Sougo's Caramel Macchiato and Hijikata's Dark Roast topped with Mayo Whip.
