Yeah, that’s it. Let me explain:

Stars don’t really have names. At least not in the human language. I like imagining that if you do ask for a star’s name in their own language, the answer only comes out as an incomprehensible and ear-damaging sound. A sound that stars in space would make irl.

Yet, Wishing Stars still love listening to the names that mortals do give them in human language, whether individually or as a constellation.

Starboy himself was never given a name. (He didn’t mind it much, actually.) He was a young star that most never really notice in the sky. Plus, he was imprisoned on earth by Magnifico for nearly a decade anyways so he was never given one. (And even then, the things close to having a name are degrading ones like ‘little thing’, ‘the power source’. ‘tool’ etc.)

When Asha met him and gave him a proper one, he was pretty ecstatic. Tbh, Asha wasn’t in a creative mindset at the time and meant to put “Star” as a placeholder name for now until they could think of smth better.

However, regardless of that, “Star” is literally the only name this guy will happily respond to. (And he will funnily ignore any other attempt to name him-

Soooooo~ oh sht Asha, I guess the placeholder name has become permanent now because he says so.)

It’s not anything fancy that the bigger stars were given, but it’s his name. And I think it’s so sweet that this cosmic powerful being just finds absolute joy in the simplest things given to him.

Valentino:

-Legend from inter milan, in the 90's-00's he was like the italian david beckham(style + all the girls died for him).

-He played all his career in the same team althought he had some good offers from other teams.

-Barca's little starboy almost drove him crazy in the champions quarterfinals(he's like a pain in his ass. all the time stuck to his back trying to get the ball away from him). Inter lose that match but Valentino is not angry at all, he's hella impressed by Marc bc that gremlin is different from all the rookies he know.

Marc:

-He wins the treble on his rookie season. And is the nightmare of all the teams in LaLiga.

-Grew up watching the great Valentino Rossi matches and he falls in love with him(also take him as his referent)

-The first time he met Valentino was in that champions quarterfinal match. Marc wanted so badly exchange jerseys with Rossi but he was a little embarassed because he beat his team. (Yeah they exchange jerseys and talked a little bit...maybe phone number exchange too)

...The divorce is a little rough(like irl) because years later Marc makes a dangerous play in an important match and cause Valentino end up injured. It was an accident but Valentino feels betrayed and he takes revenge on the next match(after his recovery)

I’ve just had a random thought:

In the RFTS!Au, sound cannot travel in space, even in the plane of reality that stars live in. So instead of speaking out loud, (though most are capable of speaking when on Earth) Stars communicate telepathically in their own language. One that if humans were to listen to it out loud, it’s either too low to even hear at all or ear-blasting levels of loud. Either way, it’s indecipherable.

They do learn how to speak certain human languages out loud though, through listening to the wishes they hear and receive.

But as of through their actual out-of-this-world language, (considering on calling it “Celestial”), it’s telepathically spoken with their glow twinkling and flashing as they do so.

This video probably would explain better how stars irl ���would” sound. They technically aren’t. Their waves are just converted to sound waves.

I guess you can describe it as sounds of whirring, humming and hissing.

BACK TO THE RANDOM THOUGHT-

Now I’m not sure about this, but the idea of Sueño just staring intently at the other starboys and attempting to speak in “Celestial.” Each one of them having their own confused individual thoughts on this.

Meanwhile, my guy is confused on why these other people that are supposedly his kind cannot speak their native tongue.

Autism Is Not My Superpower

I say my because I do not speak for every autistic person in the world, though I believe most to share this opinion.

Autism is a disability. It's not a superpower. It's not a 'different ability'. It's not some magical girl compact mirror that makes me super interested in bugs and great at math. I am disabled.

I don't think I know a single autistic person that thinks of it as a superpower. From what I've seen online and irl, the only people who refer to it as one are parents that are trying to make themselves feel better about having an autistic child, or trying to paint autism in a positive light, and in turn, failing to acknowledge the fact it is disabling.

My autism does not make me special. It does not help me save the world. It makes it harder for me to function in it.

Yes being autistic has had some positive effects in my life. I don't think I would be friends with Clover if we both weren't as there wouldn't have been any platonic connection or understanding between us that we couldn't have found with someone else.

Talking about the negatives of autism is hard because I feel like I am forced to say that I love being autistic if I post about it online but I don't love it. If I had to choose between being neurodivergent and neurotypical I would still choose the autism. But that doesn't mean I like it. I like that my brain works the way it does sometimes, but not all of the time, in fact not most of the time to be honest.

My autism means that I can't shower properly. I can't eat properly. I can't socialize with other people my own age and when I try to, I am often seen as weird or creepy when I begin to unmask. It affects my relationship with my partner and my friends. I don't talk to my friends a whole lot because some days I just don't feel up to it. It's hard to comunicate with my partner some times because of my struggles with understanding and explaining things. I have had fights with my sister over her not being able to understand why being autistic means I can't go to her birthday party. When I am in an argument I either shut down or get so overwhelmed by my emotions that all I can do it cry. When I go out in public I have to mask because otherwise I will shut down, much to the annoyance of those around me who do not understand.

My autism makes my every day life so much harder than it would be if I wasn't autistic. But I would still choose to be again, over and over in every life time.

Where did George's childhood love of space come from?

GOOD QUESTION. oh my god i have things to discuss that tangentially answer the question if that's okay

easy answer: george just likes space. he likes the stars, he likes the idea that he's rising above. subtextually, he likes the idea that he himself is made of stardust, the proverbial love the universe breathes life to.

more behind the scenes, metaphorical answer: originally, george had no care about astronomy. it isn't even mentioned. i made him a writer who wants to study child psychology, which i still want to integrate somehow.

but i thought— the concept of stars and george irl are very connected. if you read my other george fics, especially weeping mary, i really bring it out there. the fact that he is called a star by carmen, starboy by mercedes— he's always been associated with stars in my head, and i really wanted to integrate that.

i've also always had the knack of writing characters who want to be part of the stars. i love likening characters to the universe. it is also such a dave malloy thing— the guy who wrote the musical i featured in the fic— to talk about humans being an infinity of wonder. it's part of preludes actually.

so yeah. no real deep answer but george loves space. he thinks it's wonderful.
