Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): Well Known Characters Bracket Match 11
Flix | Identity: mlm | Media: Star Wars Resistance
Flix and his romantic partner Orka ran the Office of Acquisitions on the Colossus, bringing them into frequent contact with the shenanigans of Kazuda Xiono when he purchases parts for his employer. They are part of the wider ensemble cast of the show, forming the loose found family you often get in cartoons set in small towns. Compared to his partner, Flix is the more shrewd and technically minded of the pair.
In Resistance’s short run, Flix got an episode focusing on his backstory, where the Colossus needs to get fuel from the refinery he was raised on. Flix saw his family as backwards and left them to become a cantina singer, which got him disowned. Over the course of the episode, he is able to make up with his cousin- the kind of mutual understanding and compromise you get in episodes like this.
If you don’t count Kallus and Zeb, Flix and Orka are the first queer characters in a Star Wars TV show. In fact, if it wasn’t for outside clarification, they have the same level of textual support, which played a large part in the decision to include Kallus and Zeb.
Lando Calrissian | Identity: Pansexual | Media: Solo WoG
Sigh, I’m sure you all remember this clusterfuck. During the promotional tour for Solo, the screenwriter Jon Kasdan established Lando as pansexual, seemingly because of his attraction to L3-37 and did some pretty textbook queerbait about Lando x Han. Unlike other instances of authors clarifying what specific identity they intended or that the subtext audiences were seeing is entirely intentional, this is more the maligned “Making a character queer just in marketing”.
Despite the good track record for queer representation in Star Wars publishing, there has been almost no follow-up to this. Lando has appeared a bit since then, and all his flings have been with women. The only exception was that he featured in the 2021 Pride Variant covers.

100% agree with everything in this post ❤️ but let’s not forget about the actual canon MLM couple we have.
In case any non-swr fan was wondering over the hype of seeing Zeb - he's half of the closest thing the star wars universe has to a canon mlm couple.
This is the last shot we have of him in rebels:
He's taking his enemy-turned-ally, Kallus to his ancestral homeworld. To live together.
According to Zeb's voice actor (Steve Blum - general awesome dude) he and Kallus get married and have children after rebels (potentially mpreg children lol).
And this is leaving out the fact that he is just generally cool. He's a loveable comic relief goof who survived the genocide of his people at the hands of the empire. He's a violent terrorist, he's an honourable warrior, the last of a dead order. He's hopelessly optimistic and helplessly pessimistic. He's a faithless child of prophecy. He's gruff and loving and kind of completely insane and he will kill you if you hurt his found family.
So yeah. He's a great character, and is as close to canonically queer as Disney will let him get. Of course tumblr fans are gonna love him (also we're all monstefuckers here)
this is just here because LOOK AT HIM GUYS IT'S ZEB
#I love them all#more queer rep is always needed especially in a gffa#Flix and Orka#kalluzeb#star wars resistance#star wars rebels#the mandalorian spoilers#Orka says “I love the guy” clearly and it’s important

Why does Star Wars actively ignore its first on-screen queer couple? Let's talk all about Orka and Flix in Star Wars Resistance and why Disney executives want to bury these particular gays.

so apparently now warner discovery wants to merge with paramount. oh boy this is just wonderful now discovery can throw away even more completed works as a tax write off. think of all the profits for the shareholders! then in two years when parawarnovery inevitably merges with disney that rat will finally own the world. they will launch the star trek tapes into the sun and bury the loony tunes archive finally eliminating all competition. no more star trek only star wars. no more dc comics only marvel. no more bugs bunny only mickey mouse. no more cartoon network only discovery family. no more nickelodeon only disney channel. then five years down the line when amazon finally merges with disney apple and netflix they will eliminate broadcast television all together your only option will be to watch disnamount-warnovery flix on your amazapple itv. the 2000th marvel movie just came out and the 600th star wars. permanently trademarked mickey mouse is visiting sponegbob for his ten thousandth episode. better watch it today all shows go back in vault after two weeks to only return in 10 years for twice the price.
why aren't there laws in place stating these huge corporations who are already billions in debt cant buy anything else until they aren't. that would literally stop all of this. if i was ten bucks overdrawn the bank wouldn't give me a loan to buy groceries why should this be any different. or maybe we could just brutally murder zazlov. that would probably be easier.
#when i tried to make this a much shorter version of this comment it got deleted because of ''murder zazlov''#random thoughts#disney#paramount#warner discovery#corporate bullshit#star trek

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): Well Known Characters Match 12
Orka | Identity: mlm | Media: Star Wars Resistance
Ork and his romantic partner Flix ran the Office of Acquisitions on the Colossus, bringing them into frequent contact with the shenanigans of Kazuda Xiono when he purchases parts for his employer. They are part of the wider ensemble cast of the show, forming the loose found family you often get in cartoons set in small towns. Compared to his partner, Orka is the more brash and aggressive of the pair.
In Resistance’s short run, there was no Orka-centric episode. However in Flix’s backstory episode, Flix’s family is shown to be supportive of their relationship, even if they aren’t supportive of Flix leaving the family business and fuel refinery.
If you don’t count Kallus and Zeb, Flix and Orka are the first queer characters in a Star Wars TV show. In fact, if it wasn’t for outside clarification, they have the same level of textual support, which played a large part in the decision to include Kallus and Zeb.
Vi Moradi | Identity: aro/ace | Media: Galaxy’s Edge
Vi Moradi is the first and so far only character who originated in Star Wars publishing to appear in the Disney parks. A Resistance spy, she was created for the novel Phasma. Leia Organa tasked her with uncovering the backstories of prominent First Order members. Her interrogation by the First Order stormtrooper trainer Cardinal serves as the frame narrative for the novel. It ends with Cardinal realizing that the values he thought he was serving with the First Order was false and the cruelty of Phasma is its true face. He helps his former captive escape, being injured on the way.
While Deliah S. Dawson was writing Vi Moradi, the imagineers decided to use her as a character in Galaxy’s Edge. Thus she came back for the novel Galaxy’s Edge Blackspire where she and Cardinal are forced to work together to create a Resistance base on Batuu, cut off from any wider support. The novel is a rare accurate depiction of the PTSD and disability that comes from torture. It also established VI as the first aro/ace character in Star Wars.
Vi is both a very skilled spy and organizer, good at bringing out the strength of people around her. She is a walk-around character in the park, acting out the same storyline about Kylo Ren arriving on Batuu every day, improvising based on guest interaction. Getting to talk to her was my favorite moments of my visits to Galaxy’s Edge.

A first look trailer for the new Kendrick brothers movie “The Forge” dropped this week, and faith film fans are in for a treat. Not only is the movie meant to inspire people of faith to go “all in” for serving Christ, but it also reunites many Great American Pure Flix fan favorites.
Subscribe to the Great American Pure Flix Insider newsletter for the latest faith & entertainment news
“The Forge” tells the story of Isaiah Wright, a 19-year-old with a bad attitude who is at odds with his single mother and who doesn’t know what to do with his life. Thanks to the unexpected guidance from his new mentor, Isaiah is forced to deal with his past, sacrifice his selfishness and discover how God might have a greater purpose for his life.
“In our culture, so many people say they believe in God, but their walk with God is very lukewarm and half-hearted,” Stephen Kendrick said in a recent interview. “Discipleship means it's time to get on fire and all in, and this movie will push you, encourage you, inspire you to be all in for Christ.”
youtube
The film boasts a hugely popular cast and many familiar faces from the Great American Pure Flix family, including Karen Abercrombie, T.C. Stallings, Cameron Arnett and Priscilla Shirer. Abercrombie, Stallings and Shirer all starred together in “War Room,” the 2015 Kendrick brothers hit about the transformational power of prayer. And “The Forge” builds on that theme of fully submitting to Christ in all areas of your life.
“It’s a forging process to be a disciple,” Alex Kendrick said. “And when you think about your walk with God, sometimes you feel like, ‘Man, I feel like I'm in a forge.’ But what happens to that process, if you honor the Lord and He walks with you, He makes you stronger and more fruitful in your life.”
“Jesus says, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me.’ So in other words, this is a different level of following Jesus -- not just belief that He is the Son of God ... but also following Him with your life,” he added. “You can't be Jesus’ disciple in a lukewarm status.”
In addition to “War Room,” members of “The Forge” cast have worked together in a number of other films and series on Great American Pure Flix. Abercrombie and Arnett starred together last year in “An Angelic Christmas,” as well as the series “Eleanor’s Bench” along with co-star T.C. Stallings. Arnett also worked with Stallings on the beloved faith-based crime-drama “Vindication,” in addition to starring in “Saved By Grace,” another Great American Pure Flix Original series that follows two angels sent from God as they help and heal those in need.
“The Forge” is expected to release in theaters in August 2024. In the meantime, catch up with your favorite Great American Pure Flix stars in some of their other work above, or stream one of the many powerful and transformational Kendrick brothers movies right here on Great American Pure Flix!

Star Wars
Amamos a Flix y Orka".

Kudos to Wedge/Norra and Immanuel/Venisa for being the only couples that didn't end in tragedy.
Oh, and I guess Snap's two lesbian aunts as well. And Flix and Orka.
Those four couples are the only ones that did not end in tragedy in Star Wars (they either died or broke up). Then again, Resistance ended before they could kill either of the Dozas or Flix or Orka. And we don't know what happened to Norra between Resistance Reborn and TROS.
