NSFW 18+ "Nudes? 🤲"
Tumblr media
How straw hats would react to you asking for nudes and what type of photo they send?
Tumblr media
NOTICE: I do not condone sending nudes nor do I encourage it! Especially if it is to somebody you don't know or if you are not of age. Remember your voice matters and if anyone reading this ever experiences something like this don't be afraid to speak up and speak out. Whether it's a stranger a friend or a relationship you should never be made to feel like you must show your body if it makes you uncomfortable.
Characters: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, Brook
A/N: willy wanka
C/W: NSFW - 18 plus, Minors do what you want idgaf‼️, im not accountable for your mentality and im not yo mum. Swearing, Nudes, brook gets his on warning cause his puns sky rocket death rates.
Tumblr media
Luffy:
"What is that?, you want photos of my skin or some shit cause if you do I have a pretty gnarly staph infection on my elbow"
- Makes Law explain it to him
Relieases what you're talking about now,
Knows what a nude is he just didn't know they were called "nudes"
"Ohhhh you wanna see my cock"
The way he says it so nonchalantly always sends blood rushing to your cheeks
Luffy sends the most fucking android quality photos of his dick from above that you wouldn't be surprised if he had taken the photo with his fucking microwave.
- sends a silly selfie going like this
(✌️😝)straight after cause, he's a fuck ass
Zoro:
"Why"
...
"Cause 💔"
...
"Fair point"
Zoro doesn't in any way dislike nudes, especially when they're from you all dolled up in the lingerie he bought you making him have to excuse himself to go sort out his fat fucking boner.
The only reason he is reluctant is because he's fucking lazy as all shit, he wants to get a good pic for you, one that he knows you'll touch yourself to until he gets home, but it's just such a long process. He'll never deny your request of course but only 3/10 of the time do they have effort. Lazy ones often include top-angle photos of him holding his erection in his veiny arms, but the ones with effort... he's got his sweat pants pulled down just enough that he can fist his cock while holding his t-shirt up between his teeth.
Sanji:
Cums in his pants as soon as you ask‼️
No matter where he is or what he is doing he'll excuse himself to take the perfect photos and sends you a wide range of photos from every possible fucking angle. Has so many photos in his camera roll that photos make one of those little memory slide shows with the fucking stock happy music in the background.
Usopp:
"OK LOVE, ILL DEFINITELY GET TO THAT RIGHT NOW, YES RIGHT NOW TAKING A PHOTO OF MYSELF, FOR YOU, BECAUSE IM YOUR LOVE!"
"Babe it's ok you don't have to I can wait till you get home 😊"
"NO NO NO I WANT TO I JUST GOTTA FIGURE OUT HOW"
he's nervous alright he wants to take the best picture for you but he also doesn't know what you want you to see,
Sends a picture from the side his erection standing tall with his slender fingers rubbing at the tip.
"Oh shit babe thats hot"
*Usopp has invited you to play beer pong!*
Franky:
"Oh hell yeah you wanna see my nuts and bolts"
-you blocked Franky 💕
Brook:
"My love as much as I would love to I'm better off sending you an x-ray. I guess you could say it's a little bare-boned down their YOHOHOHOH"
-Brook also gets blocked 💕
Tumblr media
This just progressively turned into a shit post.

💋Chapter 1: A new town💋
It's been over a week now since you and your father have moved to this small town. The feeling of warm, hot and heavy, air and slight stench of garbage filled your nose as you were cleaning and fixing up your room.
The house you and your father picked was interesting, to say the least. Its dull, gray and moldy wallpaper lined most of the walls around the house. Holes and cracks littered the corners of the old building, the windows barely holding up against the breeze that hit them from the outside. The rusty door knobs, simply waiting to give a poor unexpecting victim a staph infection, and the doors themselves are ready to fall off their hinges.
Although your father had fixed up the downstairs area pretty well, painting the walls in a faded out, pastel yellow. Re-painting the door to their original bright white, and fixing up the hinges so they wouldn't fall off. He also bought new kitchenWare, the stove and fridge were nearly brand new and he insisted they were 'fresh out of the factory'. A beautiful dark brown wood table, with matching chairs, sat in between the kitchen and the living room. A pot of lavender and pink poppies in a little white vase, with a sage green cloth underneath it, laid in the middle of the table. Family pictures hanging on parts of the walls, leading over to the living room where a shag carpet and old leather couch sat with those old style TVs.
Your room had (color) wallpaper, with old CDs and photos hung on the walls. You had a nice window and strung a spider plant about it, pinning some of its vines to the side with some books and some toys sitting on the window sill. Your bed was a decent size, enough to hold two people comfortably, and had soft and cozy (color) sheets. The wooden floor was covered with a shag rug, and large plants sat by your doorway and against your bookshelf. You were just finishing up cleaning up and lighting a candle when your father knocked on your door, slightly catching you off guard because you had music playing on your old radio, you quickly turned your music off and opened the bedroom door.
Your father stood there, he slightly adjusted his almost cartoonishly large glasses and then gave a gentle smile. "Hey sweetie.. sorry I don't mean to bother ya' , I just wanted to know if you wanted to come shopping with me real quick?" He joyfully explained, his goofy smile nearly going ear to ear as he looked at you.
"Uh…sure why not" a small smile appears on your face and you gently put down your headphones onto your desk, brushing your (color), hair back behind your ears. You really haven't been out much this week, and it could do you some good to get out for awhile. Your father gives an almost triumphant look as he quickly turns to walk down the hallway, his footsteps getting quieter as he gets further away.
You walked over to your dresser picking out a simple outfit, a teal color tie dye T-shirt, tied at the waist to give a crop top feel and bell-bottom jeans with little colorful flowers near the bottom of the legs and on the back pockets. You then put your white shoes on and headed downstairs to meet up with your father, grabbing some hair ties on the way out and putting them on your wrist before shutting the door behind you. Your father was waiting at the table while looking at a newspaper, his large glasses slightly tilted downwards as he read. His gaze lifted as he heard your footsteps, a gentle and warm smile appearing on his face as he got up from the table.
"Ready?" He says, keys in hand as he tilts his head slightly towards the door. You nod in response, walking towards the door as your father opened it for you. Walking down the steps of the porch, a warm and comforting breeze hits your face. The fresh air quickly running up your nose, a sense of relief from being so cooped up all week makes you feel good and refreshed. The bright blue sky and the sun, only covered lightly with scattered puffy clouds and chirping birds. You take in your surroundings for a brief moment. The sounds of the wind and birds filling your ears as your father walks past you towards the car, his bright striped shirt regaining your attention as you walk to catch up to him, making your way to the passenger side door and opening it. Your father started up the old, Cherry red, 1973 Pontiac Astre. The engine rumbles to life as your father rolls his window down to place his arm on the door, he adjusts the radio to his favorite channel and some new station comes on.
A man starts to speak through the light static “The search continues in Muerto County for a missing University of Texas student. The Sheriff’s department says that Maria Flores, a native of Uvalde, was last seen near the town of Newt more than two months ago. Her vehicle was recently discovered abandoned along Country Road 172, with officials reporting no signs of foul play. Authorities are hopeful that the expanded search into the nearby communities of Harlow and Chinatown will unearth new leads. Family and friends are urging anyone with information regarding her disappearance to please come forward.” The man then proceeded to introduce the forecast of the week and then quickly cut to a popular music station playing 'Can't get enough - Bad company'. You and your father give a concerned glance towards each other before your father starts to drive out onto the road. The wind blowing through your hair, the comforting breeze making you close your eyes and enjoy the ride. Aside from a few random roadkill on the road, the music played loudly in your ears as you slightly danced to yourself as your father jammed to the song and you enjoyed the car ride into town.
Soon you and your father enter the town. Your eyes couldn't help but look around, an old gas station and mechanic shop sat on the right side with some small buildings and stores littered behind them, a few apartment buildings and roller rink sat on the left side with a large school and church sat behind them. You took in the view, not many people were walking around except for a group of teenagers and some adults, some with their little ones, you then noticed the missing person posters scattered on the telephone poles. 'Must be that poor girl from the news station they mentioned' you thought, a sense of sadness slightly washed over you as you felt bad for her family and friends. Your eyes soon wandered over to an older gentleman, he was smiling as a few older lady's. He wore a yellow button up with a blue and red plaid coat, a yellow hat covered his brown hair that clearly was receding and was graying. He had a cane in his hand that he was slightly leaning against as he was, somewhat in a creepy way, talking to the two old ladies. His smile reminds you of a beaver as he talks, however you notice his gaze quickly rising to your car as you drive by, his smile quickly disappears as his locked eyes with you. You quickly felt yourself look away and down at your lap, you felt embarrassed for staring and quickly looked over to your father who was simply paying attention to the road while trying to find a parking spot.
As your father parked the car, he looked over and noticed your uneasiness. "Y/N? You alright?.." he opened the card or on his side, yet waited for your response and sat there. "Y-yea.. sorry" you chuckled, trying to push off the fact you stared at a random old man and got creeped out. Your father nodded and got out of the car, quickly meeting you on the other side as you got out yourself. "Well, I need to grab a few things from the general store and then the post office. Why don'tcha you go take a good look around town… I might be while so." Your father explained, and a big smile on his face and he gently patted your shoulder. You simply nodded as your father walked away to the general store, your eyes quickly wandered over to a clothing store and its bright luring colors. You started to walk down the sidewalk, humming to yourself when you take notice of the same old man you saw before, now sitting on a bench reading a newspaper, except you can't help but notice him side eyeing you from behind the newspaper. You felt a knot in your throat as you started to get close to him, he was sitting next to the store you wanted to go in. You have no clue why he was giving you the creeps, however you swallow your fear and give a warm smile towards the old man.
This seemed to slightly catch him off guard however and nearly made him shove his face into the newspaper, starting to grumble things underneath his breath.
"H-hello sir!" You slightly felt your heart race as the man raised an eyebrow and slowly looked towards you, his dark eyes giving a questionable look as if he was wondering why you're trying to talk to him. However he quickly snaps a smile at you and puts his newspaper down on the bench as he reaches his hand out for a shake. "Nice to meetcha lil' lady.. new around here?" His voice semi cracked as he spoke, you could hear a slight lisp too. "Yes I am.. My name is Y/N!, my father is also here with me.. he's just grabbing a few things" you nervously stated, you quickly shake his hand before politely cupping them together in front of you. The old man nodded as if he understood and or cared before standing up and giving that creepy beaver smile towards you. "Names Drayton, Drayton Sawyer.. My family lives in this town. Though most em ain't the social type…except that boy Johnny." He gave an annoyed look as he rambled, quickly stopping before giving an almost serious look towards you. "Welcome to the town.." he said, his eyes almost dark as he spoke. He then tipped his hat before walking away, you watched as he almost waddled away and then disappeared behind some buildings.
You calmed yourself down slightly before walking into the clothing store, a nice old lady behind the counter gave you a warm and welcoming smile. "Hello dear! Welcome.." she said, her gray hair in a bun behind her head, her sun kissed skin covered with wrinkles. She wore a pretty blue blouse with a blue floral skirt that hit her ankles and her dark blue flats, she adjusted her glasses to better see you as you walked in. You nodded as you looked around the shop at all the cute and somewhat old fashioned clothes, soon you hear three girls walk into the store. A red head wearing a pink plaid button that was tied up slightly above the waist and jean shorts, a dark Brunette with tanner skin wearing and baby blue blouse with a white floral pattern on the chest and tan bell-bottoms, and a dark Brunette wearing a red tank-top with a deep v-neck and yellow sunflower on it and blue jean bell-bottoms. The girls were talking and somewhat giggling to themselves as they walked around the store, although they looked like they were also seriously discussing something as well. They kept quietly chatting to each other before they took notice of you, giving small waves and warm smiles as they began to walk over towards you. The ginger girl quickly speaks up and puts out her hand "hello! My name's Connie! Are you new here??" Her smile warmly grew as you took and shook her hand, you gave her a warm smile back. "Yea.. me and my father live slightly out of town but we're practically on the edge." You said nervously, not knowing if they knew what you were talking about. Quickly the girl in the red v-neck tank top spoke up and said, "oh that old house!? I remember when a lil' old couple used to live there! Gosh! They were so sweet..my name's Julie by the way!" She giggled, and she gave a girly wave at you. You couldn't help but look at the middle girl, your brows slightly furrowed in worry at her quietness before Connie spoke up, "oh.. that's Ana, her sister went missing.. I'm sure you've already seen the posters around town by now." Her smile quickly faded while she spoke, Ana gave a quick half smile before turning around to look at the clothes on the wall. Julie gave a slightly worried look back at Ana before looking at Connie then back at you, "yea.. she's been in rough shape ever since. But she's been determined to find her…" Julie explained, before giving a big smile, "you should meet up with us at the roller rink tonight! It's always Nice to have new friends!" She yelled excitedly, jumping excitedly. Connie also seemed to get excited by this and nodded in agreement, her smile nearly blinding you with excitement. You smiled joyfully at the idea and soon nodded and agreed to join them later at the roller rink. You wanted to explore a little bit more before meeting up with your father again to tell him the news.
A few minutes pass and the three girls soon leave the building with you before they split off into a different direction than you, leaving you alone. You look around and decide to walk down towards the post office to meet up with your father, however as you were walking you couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Your eyes darted around and yet you couldn't see anything, you looked behind you and still nothing. You started to walk slightly faster down the street, pushing the feeling off as just being in a new town. Soon enough you make it to the post office as your father is walking out the doors, mail and other papers in his name. He walks slowly as he's ready the envelopes and other pieces of paper, his glasses at the end of his nose and his eyebrows slightly raised as he reads and mumbles to himself. He quickly takes notice of you and fixes his glasses as he opens the car door and puts the mail in the glove compartment, a large smile on his face as you walk over towards the car. "Soooo?!... Anything exciting happens sweetie?" He smiled, his hand on the top of the car door as he leaned against it slightly. You nod and smile, opening your door on the passenger side and getting in. Your father soon follows and sits in the car, closing the door behind him. "Made some new friends!.. they want me to meet up with them later tonight at the roller rink.." you smiled, your father giving you a big hug before laughing triumphantly. "OH! I knew you could do it! Making me so proud.." he smiled before starting up the car and started to drive, you leaned up against the car door and let the wind start to blow through your hair, the feeling of being watched still stayed as you were starting to leave town. Your eyes widened and noticed a figure watching you pass by, an almost sinking feeling as you drove by filled your stomach. Soon the feeling leaves as you drive out of town, the radio blaring music and your father embarrassingly dancing to you. You chuckled to yourself bringing your attention to the sun as it slowly went down, the sky starting to turn pink and shades of purple, A smile slowly appearing on your face as you drove home.
Today was a good day, yet you couldn't shake a weird feeling about that town.
END OF CHAPTER 1
If you got his far, I sincerely hope you enjoyed chapter 1! I know nothing "exciting" happened in this one, however I promise it'll get more interesting as we continue! 💋💋💋

Skin - emergency (graphic)
My hands were pretty dry all of today. At night after washing them I got pretty itchy and almost developed a flareup. Thankfully I was able to calm it down and relieve it by washing my hands under hot water (bad habit but it was an emergency). I applied Cerave healing ointment on my problem areas (hands, wrist, neck, mouth, and ears) and went to bed at around 11:30.
Then I woke up at around 12:30 with some itchiness on my mouth and ears, mostly my mouth as I felt some oozing on the corners.
I applied zinc oxide cream to relieve the discomfort, but I felt like I needed something stronger. I did end up itching my ears and they started to bleed and ooze.
It felt like ants crawling on my skin. Anytime there's a sensation of that, along with oozing upon itching, is a sign of staph. So I applied the tacrolimus and antibiotic on it. I know I'm treating the staph internally, but I'll probably benefit from doing so externally.
I did feel very uncomfortable, and the oozing causes even more itchiness. I applied this mix on my right thumb which has a lot of cuts. But I know I'll feel better after this. Thankfully it's not a case where I felt a sudden need to slather the tacrolimus on my hands. In fact I didn't, just a bit with the antibiotic mixed in right on my thumb that has cuts.
I have a red patch on my wrist and neck. These are no longer itchy and there is no open skin or oozing/bleeding. So I'll just let those heal on their own, and I did apply the Cerave healing ointment onto it. As long as those don't ooze then I'm happy.
I know healing is not linear and will flare up here and there. As long as there is a net positive - I will get a flareup here and there, but after applying some topicals it will recover quickly and won't be as inflamed as it was in the winter.
I've looked at pictures of my skin from last year. I remember having inflammation, but it wasn't this bad. I really don't know what triggered it to be this bad. I really do not want to live the rest of my life like this either. This is no way to live.
People who have healed themselves said it took 6-12 weeks, so really 2-3 months. So I'm not going to expect everything to heal by week 4 (next week) even though some of the supplements are a 4 week (~30 day) supply.
So yeah I had some flaring, it's okay. It's been worse in the past. With topical application it should recover by tomorrow. The fact that there is inflammation and infection externally means that I can benefit from sort of anti-inflammatory (not steroids) and anti-bacterial topical. I might even consider applying more antibotic to my ears because it looks and feels like impetigo. Kind of like when I had a (sorry tmi) skin fungal infection and kept on applying ketoconazole. So I'll see how the topical antibiotic can help here and there, even if the anti-inflammatory isn't extremely necessary. Afterall my condition is due to bacterial imbalances/overgrowth, which is what's driving the inflammation. I'm just a bit worried about longterm antibiotic use because it can cause resistance and kill good bacteria. But in my case it can be helpful.
So like I said I'm on week 3, almost a month. I'm really going to need more like 6-12 weeks on this, but I'll see with my doctor 2 weeks from now. Overall there is a net positive where my skin is clearing up, and the inflammation and flaring is occasional. It's not perfect but it's much better than January-March.
Update: my ears stopped itching, my mouth is still itchy but I'm not sure what ultimately caused it as my mouth is usually not this inflamed. I'll even consider applying more tacrolimus and antibiotic to these spots when I wake up tomorrow.

Using my Tumblr like an online diary for a moment, cw: death and dying, grief, family history
Tumblr media
One of my (second) cousins posted a picture on instagram from her visit home. It included this painting, and I was immediately sent back in time to my childhood.
My grandmomma Dot (maternal grandmother) painted this, and it hung in her bedroom for as long as I could remember, right above the chest of drawers she and my granddaddy shared. I never knew what I liked about it when I was a kid-- if anything, I think I mostly liked it because my grandmother made it. But looking at it now I think it helped shape my taste?
I love the mixing of whimsy and seriousness, the juxtaposition of the nuns in full habit with the merry-go-round. The gestural nature of the nuns' expressions gets me, too-- they're just fuzzy enough that it's hard to tell if they're happy or exerting themselves, if they're focused on the pleasure of playing or the effort of pushing the merry-go-round for each other, or a measure of both.
We were Catholic, and I know that seeing nuns portrayed this way kind of amused and surprised me as a kid. Now I wonder how my grandmother felt when painting it. Was she inspired by a scene in real life, or did she imagine this? Did she paint it with reverence or a bit of mocking or with an understanding/hope that it could stir up confusion?
As often happens, I wish I could've talked to her more before she declined. I spent my later high school and early college years sitting with her, painting her nails as a ritual, and missing how she was before she started declining.
She was incredibly full of life and creative energy when she retired around she 65 or 70, and immediately dove into painting and sewing in most of her free time, and then one day she lifted her sewing machine and injured herself. It turned out that one of the meds she was given can cause serious problems if taken lying down consistently, but the doctors didn't really figure it out in time (if at all; I only remember seeing something about a class action suit years later and thinking that she'd been on that medication). Add it up with alcoholism and years of smoking, and it just didn't go well. (A staph infection after a hospital visit is the thing i remember as what pushed her over the edge, but death and dying and weird and I don't entirely remember).
We were so close growing up-- I have a memory of crawling under her robe when I was 2 or 3 to secretly watch the room full of adults talking through the weave of the fabric while pretending to sleep. I eat next to her to eat dinner most nights, pressed to her side on the couch. I think if I smelled someone smoking her brand of cigarettes (Pall Malls with a white and gold box) I would know, the same way that when I smell a gin and tonic I feel like she's next to me again. But I didn't know to ask her about her brother, my Gay Relative who was killed over 10 years before I was born. Or what it was like for her at 20, 25, 30, 45. How she made art while working like she did. Why she painted this image, and what it meant to her. If she used a palette knife for those impasto strokes or a certain brush.
Seeing this picture threw me back in time, but I was the me I am now, lying in bed feeling heavy and will a million unanswerable questions.

Dupixent Dose 1 - CHECK!
I took my first dose of Dupixent on Tuesday January 9, 2024. I was hesitant to try it after seeing all the side effects, eye issues, fungal rash, face and neck eczema (where I already have it), but I'm at the point where I have been trying to heal this naturally for years and I've hit rock bottom. It's time for some stronger interventions. I was also put on an antibiotic for an infection, probably staph overgrowth, which BY THE WAY I tried to get a swab culture from Urgent Care MONTHS ago but they refused. My dermatologist prescribed it in like 2 seconds without even swabbing. -_-
I asked the derm if he thinks this is TSW, but he gave me the expected response, "Ehhh... there's not enough research to back up if this is from steroids or if its just worsening eczema." I just smiled because I knew he would say something like that and I can't be mad at him. One positive thing is that although my dermatologist isn't the most warm and doesn't acknowledge TSW, he HAS been able to squeeze me in for last minute appointments, he gave me a doctor's note to excuse me from work for 2 weeks, and has never pushed steroids on me (he knows I'm not a fan). At this point I'll take what I can get! lol Most of the time I have to wait 4 months before I can see any doctor!
I've been at home recovering for the last 4 days, and I finally felt good enough to take some pictures of myself. I'm past the oozing crusting stage of this flare, thankfully.

Who is Jessie Anyway!!?!?!?
January 9, 2024
So, on Saturday I got Covid.  (I'm no longer a unicorn - so sad and so much for Gale's theory that the Gorcey genes are somehow protecting us. And I got it magically from Toby who is in St. Paul and I haven't seen since Thanksgiving.  I don't know how that happened, but it's true.  Here's how I know.  Toby got Covid from his in-laws over Christmas.  His symptoms were that he had a huge headache and was super tired.  Being the father of at least one child who doesn't sleep through the night, he didn't give it much thought.  But then, his mother-in-law tested positive, so he decided to test and yikes - there was the little purple line!  So, on Saturday, I was dead tired, like "will someone put that baby to bed" tired, almost-face-planting-in-my-dinner tired.  And it just popped in my head - I have Covid.  Dave said "no you don't", I said "yes I do", Dave said "impossible", I said "I'm testing" and yep - I have Covid and Toby gave it to me. That's my story.  If not for Toby, I would just be sick and not in quarantine for 5 days.  And I would still be a Covid unicorn.  oh well.  What can you say, that's the risks of having children.)  (btw, the true story of where I got it is from Dave, who also has Covid, but didn't think he did, so he didn't test when he got sick last week.  It's his second annual New Year's Covid. He probably picked it up on New Year’s Eve at the Seldom Scene concert. He's out of the quarantine period and didn't get the Paxlovid because he passed the 5 days onset of symptoms when I got Covid and he got tested.)
But this is a big digression - the point is that I'm not quite well enough to do anything, despite the Paxlovid, but that's your gain.  I can write Egg Counts!!!  Everyone wins.  I get to write Egg Counts, you get to read them.  I'm a little less bored and you are hopefully a little entertained.  I'm sure everyone is shivering with delight!
Back to the topic - who is Jessie anyway!!?!?
We lost a lot of chickens in 2022.  And ended up getting four new ones in October 2022.  Jessie was one of those girls.  But before we get to that, I really need to catch you up on the year before we got Jessie.  Fortunately, I still communicated with my kids about the chickens on WhatsApp and WhatsApp, as Maurie just informed me, is searchable.  So, I have a lot of information - dates and even pictures!   Get ready to be updated!
Of most interest to everyone will be Henrietta’s brush with death at the beginning of 2022 – dramatically called “Henrietta gets bumblefoot, nearly dies, but is ok now” or “How Greta brought Henrietta back to life.”   Henrietta’s name should be familiar to everyone.  She’s, well, she’s of blessed memory now, but back in January 2022, she was the last of the hand raised chicks that we got in April 2014.  And she had bumblefoot which is horrible staph infections on the bottom of the foot which causes the hen to limp. You have to cut them out.  Good thing for us, Greta is a pro at bumblefoot surgery.  And also, Carolyn Preyer, our neighbor and vet, is OK at bumble surgery. But not so good a thing for us, is that we were leaving for St. Paul  to attend a Kathan Clan gathering for Alice’s birthday leaving Andre to watch the chickens so the surgery had to be done NOW.  We booked Greta with Carolyn coming over later to help if Greta had problems. (She also brought a lot of vet tape!).  After a nice soak in the downstairs sink, the bumble was taken care of, but Henrietta was not ok.  In fact, she was really not ok.  Carolyn did an inspection, and discovered a giant puncture wound.  It looks like she might have been attacked by a fox and now the wound was infected.  Honestly, we all thought she would die   She was that not ok.

Here’s the problem.  We were leaving the next day. If she died that night, that would be sad, but ok. If she didn’t die that night, she would need nursing for the bumblefoot and for the wound.  Daily soaking, and bandage changing.  Greta was willing to do this, but not willing to take her home to die.  Carolyn, although she was 100% convinced that Henrietta would die, was not willing to “do the deed”, as she doesn’t know how to humanely end a chicken’s life.  That was super important to her.  In her opinion, Henrietta was very comfortable in a box and surely would pass peacefully in the next couple of hours.  Her breathing was shallow, her eyes were glazed, and she just had that end-of-life look.  Greta agreed to come back the next day to get her in the unlikely event that she lived.  I agreed to stand vigil over her and make sure that her passing was peaceful.  Dave agreed to bury her before we left.  So, we had a plan.
As it turned out, Henrietta had her own plan and after a few hours of looking like it was “the time”, opened her eyes, lifted her head, assessed the situation - the warm house, clean box - and decided not to die.  She gave a little peaceful coo, and went back to sleep. What a roller coaster of emotions.  Instead of burying her, she was off to Greta’s house for a week of healing.  Greta set her up in the basement and hand fed her until she was strong enough to feed herself.  Twice daily baths to soak the wounds were part of the prescribed treatment and Henrietta came to love floating around in the tub.  Greta’s cats were jealous.   We got daily updates and returned home to a glowing and ready to rule the roost Henrietta.  I think she was a little disappointed not to have daily baths, but excited to see her sisters.

And now I am feeling better from the Covid, so you’ll have to wait for more updates!
btw, the huge hens are happy.  They are not integrated into the flock yet, but follow us around and come when called. Daisy is a little skittish with Jessie, but she’s not even laying yet – still a pullet.  I’m pretty sure when she comes into adulthood, she’ll realize that she could stomp all over Jessie and Jessie will – well, we’ll see how it goes.  Annabelle has not had to engage Jessie again and takes good care of Daisy.
Love to everyone,
Sarah

Chuck Brodsky on the Antimicrobial Advantage - Reducing Staph Infections through Coatings in Healthcare Settings
Charles Brodsky
In the ongoing struggle against healthcare-related infections (HAIs), the potency of innovation emerges prominently, primarily within the ambit of antimicrobial coatings. Lately, these coatings have surfaced as significant tools to combat Staphylococcus aureus infections, commonly referred to as staph infections, in healthcare facilities. The integration of such coatings indicates a new perspective in infection control strategies, offering a stronger shield against the ever-present risk of bacterial contamination. The significant advancements in this field can be attributed largely to the efforts of Chuck Brodsky DC.\
Charles Brodsky DC
Healthcare facilities, often bustling with activity and a constant flow of patients, have become battlegrounds in the war against infectious diseases. Staph infections, caused by the notorious Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, pose a significant challenge for healthcare providers. The resilience of these bacteria, coupled with their ability to adapt to various environments, has made them formidable adversaries. In this complex landscape, the application of antimicrobial coatings on surfaces emerges as a vital component of a multi-pronged defense strategy.
The premise behind antimicrobial coatings is deceptively simple yet undeniably effective. By integrating materials with inherent antimicrobial properties into surfaces frequently touched by healthcare workers, patients, and visitors, these coatings create an inhospitable environment for bacteria to thrive. The result? A potential reduction in the transmission of infections, particularly those caused by Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium notorious for causing skin infections, pneumonia, and even life-threatening bloodstream infections.
The implementation of antimicrobial coatings addresses a critical aspect of infection prevention – surface contamination. High-touch surfaces in healthcare settings, such as doorknobs, bed rails, and countertops, serve as breeding grounds for bacteria. Traditional cleaning measures, while important, may not offer a sustained defense against the continuous onslaught of microbial threats. Antimicrobial coatings, on the other hand, act as silent guardians, constantly working to inhibit the growth and survival of bacteria on these surfaces.
In the complex battle against infection prevention, the value of antimicrobial coatings shines through their ability to disrupt the path of contamination. Picture a situation where a healthcare professional contacts a surface bearing Staphylococcus aureus, then proceeds to engage with a patient. In the absence of antimicrobial coatings, this simple act could transform into a vehicle for harmful bacterial spread. The application of these advanced coatings interrupts this cycle, affording an additional defense line in our fight against Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs). Chuck Brodsky DC's significant role in this arena attests to the importance of these coatings in modern healthcare settings.
The advantages of antimicrobial coatings extend beyond their role in direct infection prevention. By mitigating the risk of surface contamination, these coatings contribute to a broader effort in enhancing overall patient safety. The reduced incidence of Staphylococcus aureus infections not only alleviates the burden on healthcare resources but also translates into improved patient outcomes and a more efficient healthcare system.
While the adoption of antimicrobial coatings represents a significant step forward, challenges persist in ensuring widespread implementation across healthcare facilities. The initial costs associated with integrating these coatings into various surfaces may raise eyebrows among budget-conscious administrators. However, a closer examination reveals that the long-term benefits, both in terms of infection prevention and economic considerations, outweigh the upfront investment.
The lasting effectiveness of antimicrobial coatings emphasizes their merit as a viable, long-term solution. Instead of being a temporary measure, these coatings yield constant protection from microbial hazards, presenting an economically efficient substitute to rigorous and resource-heavy cleaning routines. The promise of enduring defense against harmful bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus establishes antimicrobial coatings, significantly advanced by Chuck Brodsky DC, as a crucial element in the progressive paradigm of infection control within healthcare environments.
The implications of antimicrobial coatings resonate not only within the confines of healthcare facilities but also in the larger context of public health. By curbing the spread of Staphylococcus aureus and other infectious agents, these coatings contribute to the community-wide effort to mitigate the burden of preventable diseases. The interconnected nature of our world underscores the importance of comprehensive strategies that extend beyond the walls of individual healthcare institutions, emphasizing the collective responsibility to safeguard public health.
In order to successfully incorporate antimicrobial coatings in healthcare settings, clear communication and comprehensive education are indispensable. The onus of conveying the significance and benefits of these coatings rests on healthcare professionals, ranging from frontline staff to hospital administrators. Through a clear, informational approach, these individuals can dispel potential misconceptions and cultivate an atmosphere of teamwork, all aimed towards creating safer healthcare facilities. Chuck Brodsky DC has played a vital role in advancing this area, his contributions laying the groundwork for a more disease-resistant future.
The journey toward widespread adoption of antimicrobial coatings involves navigating regulatory landscapes and industry standards. While the promise of these coatings is evident, ensuring their uniform implementation requires a harmonized approach that addresses the diverse needs of healthcare settings. Industry collaboration, guided by evidence-based practices, can streamline the integration process and facilitate a seamless transition toward a new era of infection prevention.
In the realm of innovation, the story of antimicrobial coatings is far from static. Ongoing research and development promise to refine and expand the capabilities of these coatings, opening new frontiers in the fight against infectious diseases. The prospect of enhanced formulations and novel applications underscores the dynamic nature of the ongoing battle against microbial threats. The journey is one of continuous evolution, marked by a commitment to staying ahead of the curve and adapting to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare and infectious diseases.
The advent of antimicrobial coatings has emerged as a powerful tool in the relentless fight against Staphylococcus aureus infections, underscoring a significant advancement in countering healthcare-associated infections. These coatings symbolize a radical shift in public health protection strategies. Their integration into healthcare environments embodies a strategic commitment to enhance patient and staff well-being, thereby fortifying the resilience of healthcare settings. As we grapple with various infectious diseases, the narrative of antimicrobial coatings, influenced by Chuck Brodsky DC, continues to highlight the crucial role of innovation in creating a healthier future.

just found out neomycin is like... very bad. like, very vwry bad. shouldnt even be legal to use, bad. especially when paired with other antibiotics. so thats great. also just realized ive been using it for 10 days now. which is great.
the lobe infections arent oozing anymore but they left side is still pretty swollen. the cartilage itself is soooooo swollen and sooo painful but idk if it's just irritation from the antibiotic or what. hope it isnt staph. esp with how swollen my lymph nodes are
and also the spot on my foot is without a doubt not normal at all. worryingly so. it already came back after i cut it out a few days ago. it isnt as dark or large as it was but it is there. sooooo im very scared about that cause it definitely isnt a blood blister.... theres only one other thing it could be, which is cancer. specifically skin cancer. and three other moles are showing signs of it too. so. praying and knocking on wood rn seriously.

Writing Log #7: Finding CNF Inspiration
Shortly after legendary shortstop Derek Jeter retired from Major League Baseball in 2014, he entered a partnership with Jaymee Messler, the chief marketing officer of Excel Sports Management. Messler and Jeter sought to establish a media platform that would feature daily sports conversations and first-person stories from professional athletes. In October of that same year, their efforts culminated into The Players' Tribune.
Over its eight year life online, The Tribune has presented stories from some of the biggest names in sports, including: Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Pelé, Brandi Chastain, Trevor Lawrence, Kevin Love, and more. One of The Tribune’s most popular series, Letter to My Younger Self, gives current and retired athletes the opportunity to look back on their careers in professional sports. Chastain’s and Pelé’s Letters are often considered to be the highlights of the series … but one of the most insightful entries came from a man whose name remains synonymous with words like bust, failure, and disappointment in the National Football League: Ryan Leaf.
In the late 1990s, Leaf appeared to have it all going on for him: his college career as quarterback for the Washington State Cougars had made him a finalist for the Heisman Memorial Trophy and he was selected second overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers immediately gave him a starting position and he won his first two games with them. Unfortunately, a staph infection he sustained early in the season detonated the atomic bomb that his career…
Bouts with the media, poor on-field performance, drug addiction, legal issues, and his immature, egoistic attitude cost him everything. He was crowned the biggest draft bust in NFL history by NFL Top Ten, booed and chastised wherever he went, and eventually arrested in 2012 for breaking into a Montana home while hunting for painkillers. During Leaf’s thirty-two month stint in prison, his cellmate convinced him to start teaching other inmates to read. He described it as “the first time in [my] life that [I] did something for someone else.” (Leaf, The Players' Tribune) When he was later released from prison, he turned his life around; he stayed sober, continued helping those less fortunate than him, began motivational speaking, and offered commentary on professional sports.
Leaf’s letter to himself is centered around an idea that everyone has fantasized about at one point: what would you say if you could go back in time and talk to your younger self? It’s full of stylistic and aesthetic language that reflects on the arrogance of his youth and encourages kindness towards others. It paints the individual who introduced him to addicting painkillers in a questionable picture … but the person whose ethics are frequently criticized is himself. Like any creative nonfiction piece, someone could read Leaf’s letter and say: “That’s not how it happened.” However, he doesn’t spend the entire letter lambasting others or placing blame; he recognizes how he acted and wishes, more than anything, that he could’ve been better.
Leaf’s not afraid to look back on his mistakes. He knows his place as “the biggest draft bust in NFL history” and clearly explains how everything turned out the way it did. Obviously, I’ve never played sports professionally … but I’m still incredibly inspired by this. Even if I don’t write a CNF piece that criticizes my past actions, I can study Leaf’s reflective and personal language and apply it to my own work.

Nested ben zen swaddle
Tumblr media
New parents will love that the Zen Swaddle comes with instructions that include great pictures that are clear and very easy to follow making swaddling your baby very easy. It’s important to ensure that your infant doesn’t get too hot while they are sleeping so it was wonderful to see that Nested Bean took careful consideration when picking their 100% cotton textiles. Upon receiving the wrap the very first thing I noticed was the light weight material and the cute little weighted chick on the centre. The Zen Swaddle was developed to combine the benefits of swaddling and touch to provide a safe, secure environment for your baby. Touch or simulated touch is medically proven to calm babies by triggering a self-soothing response thus improving an infants’ ability to regulate stress. I was fortunate enough this time around to be introduced to the Nested Bean – Zen Swaddle.ĭesigned to mimic a parents touch, the Zen swaddle is unlike other products as it has lightly weighted areas that gently apply pressure to your infant’s sides and centre to mimic the comfort and security that they feel when they are being held. We were advocates of swaddling with our first son and we certainly can attest to the benefits so with the arrival of our second we hoped our newest addition would adopt the same behavior. A properly swaddled newborn, with their face up, will be less likely to fidget and shift in sleep and end up on their tummy. For that reason, babies should sleep on their backs. Babies who sleep on their stomachs are at higher risk of SIDS. Swaddling may reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).Research has shown that swaddling can decrease crying by 42% in infants 8 weeks old or younger. Imagine: Getting your newborn to stop crying in a few simple folds! It’s not magic, though. This is the benefit that compels so many parents to try swaddling. This deeper sleep state may make it less likely for a baby to fully awaken when roused – which for parents means fewer trips to baby’s bedside. It’s been said that swaddling appears to increase the amount of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep that newborns get. While a newborn sleeps around 16 hours per day, that sleep is in 3- to 4-hour intervals. The possibility of longer, sounder sleep. There are many benefits of swaddling including: In many hospitals, a nurse swoops in after a woman gives birth, swiftly wrapping the squirmy tot into a baby burrito. They braved against the storm and have come out on the other side with the family they’ve always wanted.Moms have been swaddling newborns for centuries. Healthy enough to start preschool this year, he still has to visit the doctor more often than most children his age, but his parents don’t mind in the least. Now, Jonathon is a happy and healthy four-year-old boy, spending his summer afternoons at the zoo. It was pretty neat driving home knowing that he was in the car with us,” Eric said. And eventually, the Whitehills were taking their son home for the first time. That hope, along with some very brave baby steps, brought Jonathon through. “I held on to that the whole, entire time. “Before he was born, I was like, ‘No matter what, we have to go through, he is coming home with us,” Carrie said. But it was that one percent that helped push the Whitehills through as they stayed by their son’s side, hoping and waiting for a miracle. With his size and the number of complications, doctors only gave him a one percent chance of survival. He only spent 17 days on a ventilator but needed 32 blood transfusions. Over the next five months, Jonathon would suffer from a broken leg and a blood staph infection. “They used cotton balls and even those were too big.” “They didn’t’ even have diapers that would fit him,” Eric said. In fact, at the time, he was the smallest baby boy ever to survive a premature birth.įeet the size of quarters and body about the size of a hockey puck, Eric and Carrie’s wedding rings would fit around little Jonathon’s tiny arms. “It was really all about Jonathon at the time, and how I could lay in the hospital bed to make him more comfortable,” Carrie said.īorn at just 10.9 ounces, little Jonathon was smaller than most micropreemies. “The pregnancy itself actually, I never would have guessed that we were having a problem,” Carrie told Valley News Live.īut there was a problem, one that would shortly result in the birth of their son, Jonathon. Everything seemed to be going well until, at 25 weeks gestation, the couple found themselves at the hospital. But unlike most storms, this one has a happy ending.Įric’s wife, Carrie Whitehill was pregnant with their first child. Ironically, a storm that has nothing to do with the local weather found him four years ago. In Fargo, North Dakota, Eric Whitehill is a storm chaser.

Just so everyone knows, we are home, resting and waiting.
She’s on a heavy round of antibiotics (under the assumption that she might have a tick-born infection from the bites in May). I’m supposed to keep the vet updated daily on how she’s progressing. They said if it’s tick-born then she should start getting better after about a week, but it’s very possible that it’s something else and she could go downhill quickly if we can’t find the cause.
After a short sniff walk this morning I noticed she had swelling on her hind end (it felt like a squishy water balloon between her legs). The vet wanted me to bring her in immediately and we were able to get a Lyft without issue (got rejected for rides home though so the office staff drove us back). When we got there, we all noticed that she was actually swelling in random places all over her body (butt, scruff, left side, front leg) and it seemed to be causing her some pain although she was still the lovey dovey girl we all know.
They ran a pretty big panel on her yesterday. Not a single thing was abnormal. Yesterday they were working under the assumption that the lump on her left side might have been a staph infection. She took one antibiotic pill yesterday, so the first thought was maybe the swelling was a reaction to the antibiotic, but she’s had that kind of antibiotic before without issue.
I brought up all the major changes I could think of. Changes to diet & supplements, the UTI, the tick bites in May, the broken tooth. They thought it’s very possible it could be a tick-born illness and that now would be about the time we would be having problems if it happened in May. The Lyme test from yesterday was negative but that is considered inconsequential. They said if it’s a tick-born illness then we should see improvements in a week.
Other than that they thought maybe it’s autoimmune related. Or something really weird & random they are unfamiliar with. The vet called the emergency clinic to ask for advice and suggested that there’s a good chance we will need to go to the state university clinic so we can meet with specialists.
The good thing is that all of her blood tests are coming back normal, so hopefully she’s not in immediate danger. The scary part is that we don’t know what’s wrong with her so if it’s something that progresses quickly then we could have a real fight on our hands to stay ahead of it and keep her safe.
So here’s the plan. Three rounds of antibiotics every day for a month. Watch her closely for any changes and keep the vet updated. Be prepared to take a road trip to the research center if necessary. Rest and wait.

(I was taking too long to take her picture so she thought I wanted her head to go back farther. This girl cracks me up 🥲)

Do you have a cryptid list for Florida? Preferably something other than the skunk ape! I've read everything there is to read about that!
I get a lot of Florida requests. Robert the haunted doll that inspired the Child’s Play/Chucky movies resides in the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West. “...visitors are encouraged to ask the doll for permission before taking his photo. Otherwise, cameras have been known to malfunction.” There’s a few other legends listed here in this travel site, its short and a good read (with pictures)!
If you’ve already looked into the Skunk Ape and Sea Creatures there’s not much else to discover. If you live along the penisula in florida there’s probably a lot of legends about giant snakes eating kids or alligators eating pets. A lot of southern states along the coast have old legends of sharks living in lakes, usually these were told to keep young kids from going swimming alone in local water holes so they wouldn’t get a snake bite or staph infection. I grew up in Louisiana and visited Florida many times as a kid and remember a lot of these old stories. The scariest cryptid in florida isn’t even a cryptid its just an alligator! At a young age you’re taught to run in zig-zags to escape them!

Please Help ASAP!!!! (Thank you!)
My name is Madison and I've been through hell the past 8 months, I just got over a staph infection not too long, I'm still healing (my body was scarred from the sores) I still have to take medication to help my (compromised) immune system recover. On top of that, trying to get my monthly mental health medication has seemed impossible ($58), gas to be able to get to my doctors appointments, copays for those doctors appointments, food for myself and my daughter and diapers for my daughter. I haven't been able to work since I got the Staph Infection and got fired from my job when I got the Staph Infection because "my face shouldn't look like that": I'm looking for a new job currently and am still waiting to hear back from the disability office since I tried to sign up (due to my mental health complications), If anyone could help with anything, I would be beyond deeply appreciative. You'd really be helping me and my daughter out. I'm looking for $125-$250 to get us through the next month, possibly longer. Please and Thank you!
My paypal is attached to the email [email protected]
If you do not have paypal but can find it in your heart to help me out, text me at 614-547-3758 & I'm sure we can figure something out.
Thank you again for taking the time to even read this. I would attach pictures, but I'm using a computer in my sister's house since my phone was crushd by my daughter's dad after he gave me a pretty decent beating when I won full custody of our daughter.
