Someone on Twitter asked who was the British politician who has harmed the British people the most. Of course all the answers were modern politicians - the earliest suggestion was James Callaghan. Looking further back in history, who were the really bad British politicians?
In order to not answer this with a long list of "History's greatest colonialist monsters," I'm going to focus on just the ones who had a negative effect on "the British people," and in order to not answer that with a long list of "the history of English oppression of the Irish," I'm going to focus on just harm done to "the people who lived in what is currently the U.K." I am well aware that this is highly restrictive, but I don't have the time to write a complete history of Britain.
So who's on my shortlist?
Pitt the Younger. Fought the Napoleonic Wars on the backs of the poor while violently suppressing any dissent with a police state. He passed the Treason Act of 1795 to criminalize dissent, the Seditious Meetings Act of the same year to criminalize public assemblies, spied on pretty much anyone who wasn't an arch-Tory, suspended the writ of habeus corpus, and passed the Combination Act of 1799 to criminalize trade unions. In a just world, would have died on a guilottine in Trafalgar Square.
Lord Liverpool. In the wake of the Peterloo Massacre which he was absolutely responsible for, passed the Six Acts to allow the government to search people's houses for arms without a warrant, arrest and transport people for owning weapons or attending a meeting that was deemed to involve unlawful military drilling, reduced due process, shut down all public meetings that involved politics or religion, arrest and transport anyone who wrote anything that criticized the government or Christianity, and heavily tax and impose bonds on newspaper publishers. In a just world, the Cato Street Conspirators would have exercised better tradecraft and assassinated him and his entire government.
Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington. Followed up his victory in the Napoleonic Wars by fighting a war against the British people. Arch Tory bastard, adamantly opposed any political Reform that would enfranchise ordinary people, and opposed Jewish emancipation while supporting Catholic emancipation. To be honest, I wish the mob had torched Apsley House with him inside when they had the chance.
As for the runners-up?
Bonar Law, Stanley Baldwin, and Ramsay fucking MacDonald for dropping the Geddes Axe and then subjecting British workers to twenty years of crippling austerity and repression.

A lot of TV stations have forgotten what "quality" means. But not Channel 62. They NEVER knew what it meant. "Weird Al" Yankovic is George Newman, a daydreamer who becomes the manager of a small TV station that's losing money as quickly as it's losing viewers. Before long he's programming shows like "Stanley Spadowski's Clubhouse," "Wheel Of Fish" and "Raul's Wild Kingdom." But can Channel 62's new popularity save it from sinister forces? To find out… don't touch that dial!
Pre-roder UHF.

"Dream of the Miner's Child"
A miner was leaving his home for his work He heard his little child scream. He went to the side of the little girl's bed Oh daddy I've had such a dream.
Oh daddy don't go to that mine today For dreams do so often come true. Oh daddy, dear daddy, please don't go away I never could live without you.
I dreamed that the mines were all ablazing with fire The workers fought for they're lives. But then the scene changed and the mouth of that mine Was covered with sweethearts and wives.
Oh daddy don't go to that mine today For dreams do so often come true. Oh daddy, dear daddy, please don't go away I never could live without you.
Go down to the village and tell all of our dear friends As sure as the dry sun does shine. There's something that going to happen there today Oh daddy don't go to that mine.
Oh daddy don't go to that mine today For dreams do so often come true. Oh daddy, dear daddy, please don't go away I never could live without you.
Oh daddy don't go to that mine today For dreams do so often come true. Oh daddy, dear daddy, please don't go away I never could live without you.

A Christmassy Geddes (in May)
Right, does anyone remember that episode of Father Ted where they found themselves lost in Ireland's biggest lingerie department? Yeah, thought not, but this is basically the same idea. Except slightly different, and not co-written by a transphobic cuntbucket. It's called Retail Therapy, and as always, you can find it on either deviantART or FictionPress:
PART 1: https://www.deviantart.com/toastedalmond98/art/GL21-Retail-Therapy-PT1-841777701
PART 2: https://www.deviantart.com/toastedalmond98/art/GL21-Retail-Therapy-PT2-841777753
FICTIONPRESS: https://www.fictionpress.com/s/3345473/8/Geddes-Line-Season-2
Read and enjoy with the usual level of discretion.

Interview
With Gavin Geddes
By Orville Burch
Author To Author
Orville: Tell us about yourself
Gavin: I enjoyed creative writing as a school kid in England but it always took a back seat to football. My teachers always seemed to read my stories out loud.
I was sexually abused from the age of 9-11. I kept quiet as my abuser knew I would. In 2017 many ex professional footballers like myself came out publicly about historical sex abuse they suffered. My abuser was still a friend of my parents so instead of going through courts for justice and compensation I wrote him a letter. That letter saw me jailed for 40 months. He was released without charge even though the Police told my family they know he did it. We have found new evidence that has been handed into Police that will see my abuser jailed. That is why I hold off releasing Soundtrack to a life. I want the last chapter The Long and Winding Road to be a happy ending and closure for me. The concept of Soundtrack to a life is each chapter is named after a relevant song like Life on Mars which is the chapter about my first day in prison. I had talks with a London Documentary maker but I don’t feel we have enough footage for a Doc. However, we are looking at a film dramatization as well as the book. I’ve had offers from England, America, Australia, and etc. to publish the book but until it’s completed I’m undecided. I’m a perfectionist and want this to be perfectly presented in every way.
The catalyst for my adult writing was hearing the Nick Cave song Into my Arms when depressed in my prison cell on day 13 of 1,219. It was the first time I’d heard it and it was beautiful. It gave me an epiphany to write my life story and a screenplay which is called An Evening with Neville Heath. I did these with no internet and haven’t changed anything about either project. The concept of both as you will find out is so unique. My MC Stanley Turner is purely fictional but Heath was a real life killer. Made for stage or screen I know Heath will be a roaring success. I just need to pitch it!
Orville: Who is your target audience?
Gavin: My target audience is everyone. Sound Track To A life obviously involves Child Abuse, football , prison , mental health, family , the fight for justice and closure. Parts are dark but there’s also humorous parts and inspiring ones.
An Evening with Neville Heath is also for everyone. It charts subjects like the Holocaust, Capital Punishment, redemption etc.
Orville: What are your hobbies?
Gavin: My hobbies are obviously football, writing and spending time with my kids and family.
Orville: Do you have a favorite quote?
Gavin: My favorite quote is by Arthur Ashe. I saw it on a crumpled poster on my first night in prison. “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”.
Orville: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Gavin: I am not a plotter of pantser I’m somewhere in between.
Orville: Do you think there are underrepresented themes is books?
Gavin: I think books on Child Sex Abuse are underrepresented much like the subject is in society. It’s a taboo subject because child abuse starts at the top and is sadly covered up because of this. My name became public after my trial so Sound Track To A Life is a chance to get this subject into the public domain and hopefully help other Survivors.
Orville: What is your advice for young people wanting to start a writing career?
Gavin: My advice for young writers is believe in yourself and don’t enter competitions that can shatter your confidence. Only write when you feel inspired to do so. Don’t write for the sake of it.
Orville: Who would you say is your greatest influence?
Gavin: My greatest influence in writing is me. I was beating myself up mentally in prison but after that epiphany I picked up a pen and found a bit of battered card in a communal bin and thought up An Evening with Neville Heath. I’ve always been a pessimist but with my writings I’ve never been more optimistic about anything in my life.

At around ten o'clock in the evening of July 6th 1988 the Piper Alpha oil platform in the North Sea was rocked by a huge explosion.
The 30th anniversary of the disaster will be remembered at a special memorial service tonight in Aberdeen at the Piper Alpha Memorial Garden in Hazlehead Park. The names of all 167 men who lost their lives on July 6 1988 will be read out during the ceremony to be attended by their relatives, friends and representatives from the oil and gas sector.
The vast human tragedy of that day sent shockwaves around the world and forced the industry to take a painstaking look at its practices. On that night, there were more than 220 men on board Piper Alpha, with most in the accommodation section and more than 60 working on the night shift.
After a gas leak on the North Sea platform a series of explosions followed and, minutes later, it was engulfed in a fireball. By the time the rescue helicopters arrived, flames were reaching 300ft and could be seen from 70 miles away. The smoke and fire made evacuation by helicopter or lifeboat impossible, and many people gathered in the accommodation area. Remaining there meant certain death. With the platform ablaze and exploding, some men jumped off from 175ft above the North Sea. Others plunged from lower levels or clambered down ropes and hoses before plummeting into the water. Poundland to stop selling kitchen blades because of rise in knife crime
There were only 62 survivors that night in what remains the world’s worst offshore disaster. An inquiry led by Lord Cullen opened in Aberdeen in January 1989, ended in February the following year, and published its report of several hundred pages nine months after that. It led to North Sea safety being shifted from the Department of Energy to the Health and Safety Executive, and meant that automatic shut-down valves were made mandatory on rigs to starve a fire of fuel.
It's not often I would name all those that perished, but on the 3oth anniversary I think it is only fitting to do so, RIP to the 167......

. Será recordada por siempre con mucho cariño. @charlotteswebcbd https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ugnT8BH6i/?igshid=hgv0cnuy8h10

The Use of High-Cannabidiol Cannabis Extracts to treat encephalopathy and different Diseases
There has been a dramatic rise in news attention to healthful cannabis in 2013, with reports on CNN, ABC, CBS, and native publications regarding high-cannabidiol cannabis oil effectively dominant the symptoms of rare epileptic conditions like Dravet syndrome, Dose syndrome, infantile spasms, plant tissue abnormality, and more. These diseases will cause a whole bunch to thousands of seizures every week, whereas additionally impairing development in an exceedingly range of different ways that. For families with youngsters littered with such conditions, the challenges are overwhelming. Thanks to the extraordinarily complicated nature of Dravet and connected syndromes, ancient prescription drugs are ineffective and infrequently build the issues worse. With no different hope, families have turned to high-CBD cannabis oil that is proving to figure with miraculous effectuality
To clarify, high-CBD cannabis oil is non-psychoactive and apparently even a lot of useful than high-THC cannabis oil. Cannabidiol is another cannabinoid within the cannabis plant, just like a lot of well-known mind-altering cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol, with important analysis suggesting neuroprotectant, anticancer, medication, anti-ischemic, medicine, neuroleptic, and antibacterial drug properties, among others. What is more, cannabis oil could be a style of extract from cannabis. Such oil contains giant amounts of targeted cannabinoids that may be orally eaten instead of preserved, conserving the healthful compounds and permitting them to be delivered through systema digestorium, instead of the systema respiratorium.
The analysis suggests that CBD has panacea-like properties, and in observe, this can be proved to be the case. On August eleventh, 2013, Sanjay Gupta frees a documentary on CNN regarding Charlotte Figi. Charlotte could be a young Dravet syndrome patient World Health Organization was having three hundred epileptic seizure seizures every week. No prescription drugs or dietary changes might do something to cut back this range. Charlotte's folks learned regarding high-CBD cannabis oil, and when virtually the primary dose, Charlotte's seizures stopped. She currently has but 3 minor seizures a month. This case is nothing wanting miraculous, and it is not isolated. Dr. Margaret Gedde, an urban center medical man, is trailing eleven new patients of the Stanley brothers, the suppliers of Charlotte's high-CBD medication. Nine of them have had 90-100% reductions in seizures that once more, are just miraculous.
The epileptic conditions that CBD is proving to be effective against extraordinarily complicated, and not even the foremost powerful, well-researched prescription drugs are capable of causation any healing. nevertheless, high-CBD cannabis oil is straight away and powerfully reducing symptoms, with the sole facet effects being systemically useful - a lot of energy, higher learning, improved behavior, and more.
It mustn't be shocking that results like these are occurring for years. a bit like analysis shows cannabinoids are therapeutically effective against encephalopathy, there's analysis suggesting they'll eliminate cancers and management different serious diseases. And in observe, for encephalopathy and these different conditions, the results are translating to humans. Folks are dependably eliminating cancers for years and mitigating diseases like polygenic disorder, Crohn's, fibromyalgia, a heart condition, chronic pain, sclerosis, and more. This can be as serious because it gets, and a lot of attention should be delivered to this issue.
As you'll be able to see, the utilization of healthful cannabis is extraordinarily necessary. This is not regarding assuaging the facet effects of therapy or rising appetency - this can be regarding golf stroke serious diseases into remission, eliminating cancer in humans, and rising all aspects of human health. To envision the scientific and experiential proof supporting this, as well as medical documentation of terminal cancer patients currently inactive, visit https://www.purecannastore.com/. You’ll be able to additionally read on the report on Kindle.

Is it more dangerous for women to be homeless than men to be homeless?
1. Question: Is it more dangerous for women to be homeless than men to be homeless? A paper from 1998 found that homeless women were more likely to experience traumatic injury from intentional violence than Homeless men. (“An advantage with limits”, by M. Marpsat. page 271.). The paper cited is in French. So unfortunately, I can’t read it. One paper I can read found that homeless women are more likely to be raped than homeless men, and suffer after being attacked for longer periods of time than men. (Exploring the Experiences of, Violence Among Individuals, Who Are Homeless Using a, Consumer-Led Approach, by Molly Meinbresse, MPH et al. Violence and Victims, Volume 29, Number 1, 2014). However, Homeless men are more likely to actually die a violent death than Homeless women. In Maryland, they represent 85% of homeless people who die violent deaths. (Characteristics of Violent Deaths Among Homeless People in Maryland, 2003–2011. By Jennifer L. Stanley et all. Table 1). But about 57% of Homeless people overall in Maryland during that same time period. (Overview of Homelessness and, Homeless Services in Maryland. By Department of Legislative Services, Office of Policy Analysis, Annapolis, Maryland, September 2015. Exhibit 5.). However, homeless men and women have similar overall rates of violent victimization and all-cause mortality, with homeless men being more likely to suffer traumatic brain injury than homeless women. (The health of homeless people in high-income countries: descriptive epidemiology, health consequences, and clinical and policy recommendations Prof Seena Fazel, MD, Prof John R Geddes, MD, and Prof Margot Kushel, MD. Lancet. 2014 Oct 25;, 384(9953): 1529–1540., doi: 10.1016/S0140-6736(14)61132-6). So, is being homeless more dangerous for women than it is for men? Short answer, no, because the overall rate of victimization and mortality are similar. Long answer, it depends. Women are more likely to be raped and suffer afterwards. But men are more likely to actually die from a violent assault.

The Colorado CBD story that changed America’s views on cannabis
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
If there’s one story that transformed American views toward medical cannabis and the plant in general, it’s that of young child epilepsy patient Charlotte Figi, whose life-threatening seizures are now successfully under control thanks to a specialized strain of cannabis that can be used to make CBD-rich, non-psychoactive cannabis oil. And it was in Colorado where the magic happened.
Charlotte’s story was told on primetime television, as part of a CNN documentary that explored the new potential of medical cannabis as a treatment for severe and untreatable epilepsy. Charlotte has Dravet’s syndrome, an epilepsy that causes a myriad of seizures. When at its worst, Charlotte would experience more than 300 seizures weekly, but now she suffers from just a few each month. It’s been a remarkable transition and one that tugged on the heartstrings of Americans.
How the Figis turned to CBD
Initially, the doctors were unable to work out what was causing Charlotte’s seizures, before suggesting that she was suffering from myoclonic epilepsy of infancy (SMEI), or Dravet’s. This condition generally emerges in the first year of life, and as a type of intractable epilepsy, there was no way of managing the seizures with conventional pharmaceutical drugs.
After battling on as best they could, Charlotte’s parents finally chose to take their daughter to Children’s Hospital Colorado when she was 2, where it was confirmed that she did indeed have Dravet’s, as the result of a gene mutation.
The family had two choices: to either stick with mainstream medicine and hope that doctors could find a way to at least manage some of the symptoms, or to find an alternative form of treatment. Thankfully, they chose the latter.
At first, she was tried on a ketogenic diet – while it helped to reduce her seizures by boosting levels of ketones (chemicals with anti-seizure properties), the side effects to Charlotte’s immune system and bones were a heavy price to pay. And after two years of the ketogenic diet, her seizures returned.
The parents had all but given up the quest to find a treatment for Charlotte’s epilepsy until her father Matt came across a story of a child patient in California whose Dravet’s was being successfully managed with an unusual strain of cannabis that was high in CBD, but low in THC – this is the complete opposite to more common recreational strains.
Both CBD and THC are of medical value, but as a non-psychoactive compound, it’s a lot safer and less controversial to treat children with CBD than it is THC. The anti-seizure properties of CBD are reduced by calming chemical and electrical activity in the brain.
With Charlotte’s quality of life declining so much due to the sheer number of seizures – she could no longer walk or eat unaided and had difficulty talking – her parents were prepared to try cannabis-based medication, even though they were previously against the plant and legalization.
However, it wasn’t as easy as just purchasing CBD and administering it to Charlotte. Due to the lack of studies at the time on medical cannabis in children, and no precedent in Colorado on giving cannabis to kids, it was a challenge to get two doctors to support the idea.
After understanding that no previous treatments had worked for Charlotte, and that CBD medicine was her best and perhaps only hope left, two doctors, Dr Margaret Gedde and Dr Alan Shackelford gave the go-ahead for treatment to begin.
Treating Charlotte with CBD
Once they found an appropriate high-CBD, low-THC strain and having it extracted into an oil, Charlotte’s parents began treating their daughter with low doses of cannabis oil. There was apprehension about how successful the treatment would be, but the results were remarkable, with Charlotte quickly going a whole week without experiencing a seizure.
But with Charlotte’s supply of CBD oil quickly running low, more medicine was required. That’s when the Stanley Brothers, well-known cannabis cultivators in Colorado came into the picture. They were working on a predominantly non-psychoactive cannabis oil rich in CBD but low in THC, and now with Charlotte’s case they had a use for it.
This special strain grown by the Stanley Brothers would later be renamed Charlotte’s Web, in homage to Charlotte. They were uncertain at first about producing medical cannabis for a child, but quickly offered their support after learning about the situation.
Charlotte gets two doses of CBD per day, with food, and she is now able to live life like a normal young girl. She can eat without the help of others, walk and talk. The seizures are no longer stifling her development.
Since this case, the Stanley Brothers have set up a foundation to help other patients in need of CBD oil, to treat a range of illnesses, including epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases. The foundation aims to provide those in desperate situations with low-cost medical cannabis.
The emergence of CBD as a mainstream epilepsy medication
The anti-epileptic effects of CBD are now incredibly well-documented, with several high-quality clinical trials attesting to the effectiveness of the compound. And CBD treatment has even gone mainstream in the United States, with the Food & Drug Administration recently approving Epidiolex, a CBD drug especially designed to be used as an epilepsy medicine.
And there are further stories of children from across America and even around the world heading to Colorado and other legalized states to be treated with life-saving cannabis medication – such patients are sometimes referred to as “medical cannabis refugees.”
Now, many states that were once strongly opposed to medical cannabis are now giving the plant a second look and taking steps to help the most vulnerable children – for example, the University of Alabama is conducting a study on CBD and epilepsy, with approved patients permitted to take CBD oil. While this may still seem very regressive compared to states where cannabis is available more readily, it’s a movement in the right direction. A doubling in support for cannabis legalization since the turn of millennium is proof of the “legalization through normalization” theory.
Final thoughts
But CBD doesn’t just treat epilepsy. In fact, this cannabinoid which regulates the endocannabinoid system can be used to benefit our health in many areas. The mood-boosting and stress-busting properties are helpful for those with depression, stress and anxiety.
The pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory qualities are useful for patients with arthritis, fibromyalgia and other kinds of chronic pain able to medicate with fast-acting treatments like CBD e-liquid. The endocannabinoid system is a game-changing discovery for medicine, and as cannabinoid research develops, even more uses for the plant should emerge, and it will likely become even more reliable.
