(2 out of 2) and now that I'm thinking about it, I'd like to ask for clarification regarding what's going on with Hero Chat. Is it going to be transitioning to prose for Season 4/5? Or is it going to remain a chat-fic aside from chapter 85 and the Season 4/5 story is going to be told through Team Miraculous?
It is transitioning to prose!
While I love the chatroom setup, a lot of Season 4 needed side-stories to really flesh out the episodes that heavily diverged from Canon, as a lot of those couldn't be portrayed by the chatroom. At least not without a somewhat-stangnate bit where the characters pause 'story' in favor of writing a summary.
Season 5, which is further diverging from the canon show, will be incredibly difficult to do via chat. And as such will be switching to have the main fic be prose.
I may still add flavor with some chatfic chapters, either random other shenanigans or extra commentary on the main fic.

A Witch’s Wrath, A Hybrid’s Revelation
A heated confrontation ensues when Bonnie decides to take matters into her own hands and challenges Klaus's decision-making. As their confrontation escalates, unspoken feelings and clashing ideologies emerge, adding an unexpected layer to their conflict. Will Klaus's startling confession unravel Bonnie's resolve, or will it only stangnate their alliance?
This is a remix and canon-divergence of the Originals episode S01x03: Tangled Up in Blue

New Orleans
The Plantation
The night was dark, with only the waning moon casting an eerie glow over the Plantation, the haunting mansion that served as Klaus's interim base of operations.
Bonnie parked her car in the gravel driveway. Her fists clenched, her jaw set, and her magic ready to lash out. Bonnie raced up the steps, frantically ran the bell, and pounded on the door. "Klaus! You two-timing bastard, open the damn door!"
Bonnie's rage was as fiery as a witch's flames of old. Once she felt the familiar thrum drawing close, without waiting, she sent a powerful blast at the grand door, ripping off its hinges. The door flew back, the burst of magic behind it sending it crashing right into Klaus, who had been just about to open it. Bonnie stormed in, her eyes burning with fury. The grand foyer of the mansion reverberated with the echoes of her entrance.
"Bonnie," Klaus grunted. "Subtle as always." Despite the sudden foray, his lips curled into a smug smile, his demeanor unconcerned. He dusted off his jacket after straightening up to his full height.
"You asshole! Killing Katie was not part of the plan!" Bonnie shouted, her voice echoing throughout the cavernous entryway. The chandeliers shook and flickered, her magic charging the air. Bonnie was furious with the audacious hybrid, her anger simmering beneath her skin. "You don't get to decide who lives and dies!"
"I don't remember asking for your approval, love," Klaus retorted, meeting her furious gaze with an unruly one of his own. He went behind Bonnie and the French Quarter coven's back, yes. But the means justified the end. "This is war, Bonnie. Trust with Marcel had to be gained, and sacrifices needed to be made. Katie's demise offered me both."
The statement fueled Bonnie's agitation. Infuriated, she curled her fingers inward and broke both Klaus's legs.
Klaus roared, his knees buckling as pain shot through him. But he bit through the agony. Klaus was not easily defeated. His eyes flashed and blazed with rage, mirroring Bonnie's. Annoyance and fury distorted his features as he forced himself back upright. Klaus's bones snapped back into place with a gruesome sound.
"I will end you!" Klaus hissed through gritted teeth. He barely kept his beast at bay, his double fangs elongated, eyes glowing an animalistic yellow.
Before Bonnie could react, Klaus lunged at her, his superior speed blurring his movements.
A thought sparked, and Bonnie froze Klaus's limbs halfway, her rage fueling her magic—the faint traces of black streaks through her venous system that bled through her skin.
Klaus, however, pushed against the invisible hold, his strength slowly overcoming the invisible hold of Bonnie's magic. "You underestimate me, witch," Klaus spat out, his golden eyes flashing.
With a cry, Bonnie extended her hands and released a pulse of energy, sending Klaus flying across the room. He slammed into a wall, cracking the century-old plaster. Groaning, Klaus pushed himself off the rubble, blood dripping from his mouth.
"No," Bonnie countered, stepping closer. "You underestimate me."
A thick silence ensued as Klaus watched Bonnie, eyes ablaze with rage and defiance. He took a moment to collect himself, pulling together the semblance of control he could muster. Klaus underestimated Bonnie's strength; he wouldn't make the same mistake again.
"You're getting attached, Bonnie," Klaus remarked. "You refuse to see the bigger picture. We're in a war, love. Katie was a necessary sacrifice. Isn't that why you lured me here? To dismantle Marcel's empire, save your sistren, and acquire your Witch Bargain."
"I don't accept unnecessary sacrifices," Bonnie shot back, her voice shaking angrily. "You should have told me, Klaus."
"So you can run back to blabber it to the witches?" Klaus said absent-mindedly. "I doubt Katie would have done what she did for Thierry had she known the depths of my schemes. It had to be convincing, and I convinced Marcel. I cemented his trust, so much so that he's returned my brother to me."
"The plan was to distract them so that Sophie could do a locator spell to save Davina from Marcel!"
Klaus moved quickly, surprising Bonnie with the unexpectedness of it. He launched himself at Bonnie, aiming to subdue her once and for all. "Wake up, Bonnie!" Klaus growled, and his fangs bared. "I did what was needed for a victory that benefits you as well."
"Let me go!" Bonnie roared. She lashed out again, this time aiming to cut down Klaus.
With reflexes honed by centuries of survival, Klaus shifted his weight and used his superior strength to counter Bonnie's strike. In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance between them, his hand gripping her neck before pinning her body against the wall. But instead of hurting her, he held her firmly, his strength serving as a deterrent.
His golden eyes bore into hers, a whirl of emotions swimming in their depths - anger, frustration, defiance, and an undercurrent of something unnameable. "You will cease this madness!" Klaus commanded, his voice hard. He could feel the pulse of her magic beneath his grip, her resolve as strong as ever.
Bonnie's gaze did not waver. "Not until you understand," she fired back, her voice laced with frustration and defiance. The feeling of being pinned ignited her magic further. "I'm not your pawn, Klaus. You don't get to use me or any witch for your games." Her green eyes glowed with their inner light, her magic rising to a crescendo. "I won't allow it," Bonnie snarled.
Klaus's face twitched. He should end her. Klaus's grip on Bonnie's neck slackened while he studied her. His earlier words echoed in his mind, "You're getting attached." Klaus had been right, but not in the way he had thought. It wasn't just Bonnie who was getting attached. Before, he wouldn't have hesitated to rip her head off. A sudden realization stirred a dangerous mix of emotions within him, blurring the line between their relentless battle of wills and the odd tension that simmered beneath their surface.
For a moment, everything froze. The mansion was silent, save for Bonnie's uneven breaths. Their fight was halfway over, but the tension hung heavy. Unwillingly entwined in a battle of wills and motives, unspoken feelings and conflicting ideologies now shadowed their reluctant alliance.
"Why do you care so much?" Klaus asked stiffly. "You barely know these people. Yet, here you are, ready to fight for them. Why?"
Klaus's questions hung in the air like a heavy fog, wrapping around them and further intensifying their tension. Bonnie looked at Klaus, her eyes unwavering.
"Because they need help," she replied with conviction, her gaze never wavering from his. "Because despite everything, I'll still try to save lives rather than end them when I don't have to."
The raw honesty in Bonnie's answer cut through Klaus's bravado, making him face a truth he had always been good at ignoring. Her loyalty was not for him but for strangers. It stirred familiar feelings in Klaus, akin to envy and dissatisfaction. A sting of bitterness tainted his tongue.
"Meaning you will stand against me, the one who's been protecting you from getting caught," Klaus flatly said, the hurt he would never admit to feeling laced in the venom of his words. "For them?"
Bonnie swallowed, her defiance faltering under the intensity of Klaus's gaze. But before she could retort, Klaus continued. "I don't care what you think of my methods," Klaus growled in his harsh yet oddly sincere voice.
Klaus's fingers around her neck were firm again, but his touch balanced between threatening and careful. "If I have to choose between you and the bloody French Quarter coven, love, the choice is crystal clear."
The words hung heavy in the air, stirring their unspoken tension. Bonnie's eyes stretched the faintest hint of surprise, then disbelief flickering in her gaze. Despite the severity of the situation, his tone softened as if revealing a secret he'd been holding close. Bonnie's brow furrowed again. A flurry of conflicting emotions suddenly coursed through her—anger, frustration, confusion, and something else she couldn't quite decipher.
"You think that will make me change my mind?" Bonnie retorted, her voice low.
"They are as much my enemy as yours," Klaus hissed, bitterness lacing his words. "You don't even know half of what they have planned. They will do everything to reclaim their power."
"They're just trying to survive," Bonnie argued back.
Klaus fell silent for a moment, his golden irises intense. Then, with a hint of envy, he blurted out, "Why? Why them? Why not me?"
Stunned, Bonnie stared back at Klaus, the unspoken question echoing in the silence. She was at a loss for words, her mouth opening and closing without a sound. Klaus's sincerity was unexpected, leaving her grappling for a response.
A low voice cut through their silent standoff before Bonnie could gather her thoughts. "Miss Bennett, I will take it over from here." His tall, lean form was a beacon of elegance and command even under the partial destruction of the mansion.
Elijah stepped into the mansion's foyer. His flesh was ashen and gray, but his eyes were cold and unforgiving, and his presence filled the room with an aura of menace.
The sight of Elijah took Klaus aback. He visibly paled. The last he had seen of his brother was when Klaus daggered him and handed his body in a coffin to Marcel as a peace offering. Now that Marcel had returned Elijah to him, Klaus decided he would remove the dagger in due time.
But it seemed someone had removed it before Klaus had.
But there Elijah was, looking like he hadn't had a drop of blood for centuries and ready to fight.
Klaus hadn't been expecting this sudden confrontation and was unprepared for it.
For a moment, Klaus was at a loss for words. His brain attempted to process his older brother's unexpected appearance. "Elijah," Klaus greeted, his voice low. "You seem to have come around. That's good news."
Elijah's eyes flicked to Bonnie, his expression softening slightly. "Miss Bennett, I trust you are unharmed?"
Bonnie nodded, pulling herself out of her shock. "I can handle myself, thank you," she responded, eyeing Klaus warily. Bonnie didn't know where Elijah's loyalties lay, but for the moment, she was just grateful for the interruption. Bonnie didn't have a cut-clear answer to Klaus's unexpected question.
"Good," Elijah replied. His gaze then moved back to Klaus. "Now, brother," he said, his voice colder than ever. "I believe we still need to finish our last conversation."
Klaus stared at his brother, dread filling his eyes. He had hoped to avoid this fight, but Elijah's awaking meant it was inevitable. Klaus glanced at Bonnie one last time before turning his full attention to his brother, preparing for the conflict that was to come.
"Bonnie," he said, his voice tight. "I suggest you leave. We will continue this discussion in the morning."

I wrote this in a day, I think and got it out of my mind :).
With the last two oneshots, talking with muuts, and rewatching TO, I haven’t been sitting still. I can’t promise anything, but I am thinking of writing a new Klonnie story based that will take place in New Orleans This chapter is a sneak peek of what I have so far.

This is the Buddy for October 13th. It's looking kinda sketchy. It's funny, I've been drawing for a long time, now, and this sketch still looks a lot like the type of drawings I'd make when I was like 12. I remember I had an idea for a comic, something pretty simple, about a girl named Penny who discovered a sort of wainscot society of people living in abandoned subway tunnels. It was one of those things where the story was simple because it was a "classic" and all the style would come from the way the stories were told. I drew the first page and it wasn't too different from this, but I must've destroyed it in a fit of shame a few years later.
Today's Buddy could be conseidered a sequel to the Buddy for May 17th. I know a lot of people dislike sequels in movies and books and stuff, because they think the sequels are proof writers are out of ideas. And it's funny since the writers must also be annoyed that they're stuck writing sequels because that's what people want, when they have a bunch of new ideas they want to try.
Like how Arthur Conan Doyle was sick of writing Sherlock Holmes stories.
I think there's a kernel of truth to both sides of the argument. On one hand, being able to write a good sequel, even (or especially) if there wasn't one planned, is a skill some writers have, and it takes a lot of creativity and intelligence. And it's also a challenge to a writer's limitations. I know some writers are so hacky, they're unable to concieve of a story that isn't supported by a handful of cliches - characters should be young, competitive and have romantic interest punctuated by arguments with other characters. Then, when the story ends, they get married. You ask that guy to write a sequel, he'll be completely lost - how is he supposed to write about a married couple? Once the story's over, the characters don't exist anymore. Can you imagine if Superman was happily married to Lois Lane? Who would he try to hide his secret identity from?
That's why sometimes, a fresh take on a sequel is so interesting. Because it's sailing through uncharted territory. And that's why so many great stories are "sequels", if not to the letter, at least in the way they build from a previous culture of storytelling concepts.
One example I have in mind is the more recent seasons of Stranger Things - that's a show that, for better of for worse, is built upon stangnated tropes of eighties bike-riding childhood adventures and evil corporations' secret experiments. Then came the sequels and the show went off in different directions, it managed to build up drama from new stories, logical consequences of early cliches. And it even let the characters evolved into different iconic elements. By virtue of its success, Stranger Things managed to go from an homage to old movies to an unique universe. And, despite the show's annoying flaws, that's always interesting to see.
On the other hand, that show is in the minority. Most sequels fall between the two flaws of just repeating the original's beats to decreasing results, or moving away from it directionlessly and hope fans are still interested because the characters are recognizable even if the story no longer makes sense. Some writers are good at original stuff and suck at sequels. That doesn't necessarily mean they're bad writers.

I’ve just dived into your perfect match posts, specifically the ones about the different dialogue for the various Haydens. Holy crap, PB put so much coding behind those and yet these days they can’t handle more than one meaningful romance route at a time, or get a GoC characters pronouns right.
Also I am just amazed at the depth you’ve explored some of these stories……wow!!!
Thank you Anon! I'm so glad to see my Hayden Young Project posts are still helpful, almost 4 years after I put it up! At the time I had planned an essay series to go with it, but I was too drained by the time I finished uploading all the screenshots to continue. Maybe one day...
But yes. Hayden was such a perfect example of customization done with purpose and thought towards the differences, while still giving the character itself a strong default core. No matter which trait/personality type you went for, there were certain things without which Hayden would never be Hayden: their questions about life, their thirst for knowledge, their fierce protectiveness, their desire to make sense of themselves and the world around them. They went through so much growth over the course of those two books.
Even so, in the larger fandom that effort and care for characterization was often ignored. More often than not, when PM was still playing, readers would find excuses to hate on Hayden and pretend they had no value. They spoke of Hayden as if they were an object, they hated on Hayden for normal emotional reactions - while their favourite Damien was hailed for his "incredible growth" even though we never once saw him apologize to the people he hurt - and even after the books ended, I would often see posts about how Hayden is "whiny" (fandom loved to wave around the "he's traumatized!" card for Damien yet waved away the abuse Eros had done on Hayden and the hostility they constantly faced like it was nothing). In fact, the whole reason I started the Hayden Young Project in the first place was because several stans (specially Damien stans) were lying notstop about how Hayden didn't have that many variations beyond the first few chapters.
For a character that really was crafted with a lot of care, the fandom clearly seemed reluctant to show any appreciation. And it's a pattern I see with a lot of the early customizable characters. They are far more easily written off as bland and boring and devoid of any development, meanwhile default white/exoticizable brown mains who get hundreds of diamond scenes yet still stangnate as characters - because their writers don't want to admit to their flaws - are hailed as the best written characters ever.
I definitely agree with your point about the current state of characterization in PB! (though a lot of my info is secondhand, so don't blindly believe me on this). I sometimes have a term for the way PB uses customization now - "bandaid customization". It has struck me, ever since I saw the note (post-BLM statement) from the company, as well as their one-year-later update, that they believe making their single main LI customizable is enough. But that doesn't allow for the character themself to explore aspects of their story related to gender or race (eg: TNA with an f!Sam skips over certain things related to sexism, that should affect her, but doesn't really) because the writers themselves seem unable to move out of the headspace that the "default" is definitely white and mostly male. And this is at a time when they prove that they KNOW how to change dialogue to reflect race or gender (eg. The D&D MC's responses to Luke when they discuss his father, or to Hamid when the two speak about racism). So you can get a black character, you can get a female character to romance...but it won't count for much. Because it's a lot more likely the writer is seeing a white and male main when they're penning the lines, and it shows...now more than ever.
Did these problems exist with the early customizables? Yes, definitely. But there was still a little more care and purpose to the way they were written, and not all the advancements PB has the ability to code in now were there before.
I call the currect state of customizable characterization "bandaid" because the company views this specifically as a solution for the lack of race representation, yet it really doesn't solve the core problem. But I may be wrong, and the new books that I haven't heard much about, could be better in this respect.
To go back to the subject of Hayden - not only was the PM team consistent about divergences in traits, but they also did the same for their different skills (polyglot, animal lover, music, massage). I found a number of incredible and really fun scenes that replaced a skill scene - my favourite one being Sloane trying to liven up our first real visit to their house with "baby-shower games" in PM1 Ch7 instead of us playing with Dipper 😄 Oh Sloane. You're such a treasure 💖
I just found the way they built Hayden so fascinating, and I wanted to share it with the fandom too...whether most of them wanted to admit to the value of such a character or not.
I definitely will try to get that essay series done, someday. Thanks so much once again, anon!

Time to reflect
Recently I have noticed my patterns of spiraling when I notice the lack in my boyfriend. Whenever I get anxious because of the many hours he have not contacted me, not hearing a word from him, I start to compare our relationship from a healthy to a toxic one. Thinking of all the times I fought for us to be better in the relationship such as when we become busy because of schoolworks, we tell our partner ahead of time that we will be busy because of upcoming deadlines and tests that we will need our utmost focus to allocate on.
As I reflect into it, I identified that I feel left out when he does not give me all the attention as he starts to have a life outside of me. Recognizing the fact that I was once like that as well until he deliberately ruined it all for me due to his lack of support on my interests, the isolation from peers, and the projection of his insecurities on me about others which led to lowering my self-esteem that caused my self-confidence to seep down following the isolation.
I became hypervigilant of his possible responses and reactions to every move I make that I caged myself to prevent any event that may lead to arguments and distress from having to deal with his insecurities. I was stuck. I remained stangnat academically. Having to be dependent on his aid in my studies and completely relying on his companionship almost in everything since my friendships were ruined from my absence to connect with them. The mental dialogue I had with myself was filled with trying to please him so he wouldn't feel insecure in everything that I do.
Realizing now that as he had risen to the top. As I notice he started doing the things that I used to do such as joining sports, participating in roles that will gain him recognition, started doing well academically, and many more. All that for me to be trampled on and put to the side.
If I could only bring back time, I wish I never lessened myself to hold space for him to shine.
I wish I never stopped what kept my sanity just so he could stabilize his.
I wish I never downgraded my sense of self just to give him a sense of being in this relationship.
As we now celebrate a year and six months together with me recently graduating this May and now levelling up to college, may I get a constant reminder to never bend who you are just for a person to love and accept you.
Because the person who truly loves you, accepts you for who you are as a person without giving out their idea of you of who you should be.
You liked them for who they are in the very beginning so why are you molding them into becoming as a person that is far from their truth?
They lived years without you and now you're telling them how they should live because that's how you lived?

Still only $3,720 CAD raised of $80,000 goal! Last donation was 19 hours ago!
Mahmoud has been raising funds for his family since May and still he has only raised 4% of campaign goal! 5 months of fundraising and only the equivalent of $2,677 USD raised! And his campaign stangnates so easily! They have 10 children, 3 babies, facing frequent bombing and hunger! Please, please don't ignore these little kids, they really do need these funds so they can eat!

While children are getting free candy from strangers during Halloween, the 10 children in Mahmoud's family (@mahmoudfamily1) barely have enough money to buy food. Can you donate the price of a bar of chocolate or a pack of money so that they may get food and other basic necessities?
There is no vegetables or fruits in Gaza; there is barely any food available, let alone sweets for the children. These 10 children suffer from constant stomachaches and diarrhea due to eating the little contaminated food they can find!
There are 3 babies among Mahmoud's 17 family members. The youngest of them, baby Meryem, was only born a few months ago during this genocidal war. Mahmoud's sister gave birth to the baby under a shower of bullets, with no medical personnel or medical resources available. Mahmoud's sister almost lost her life giving birth to the baby! While she luckily survived, she is still suffering from many infections due to the difficult birth.
Not only is there no food, but there are also no diapers for the little babies. Even if they are available (though often they are not), one pack of diapers cost $150! And there are 3 babies in need of them! Please, Mahmoud's gofundme barely has any donations, and they need all the help they can get!
This campaign is #117 on @/gazavetters vetted list. Also vetted by association!
Only $3,720 CAD raised of $80,000 goal!
This Halloween, when you give sweets to children, buy sweets for yourself, or even when you are just watching the neighbourhood kids go trick or treating, please remember these 10 children in Gaza who can barely find food to eat. They are just children. They should be having fun like all other children around the world, not worrying if they will get to eat tonight! Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps!
As an incentive to donate, I'm also hosting a freshwater pearl phone strap raffle to raise funds for this campaign (UK only)! Click here to enter after you donated!

I dunno anything about all that, I wasn't much of a reader and didn't grow up with handheld video games, same with all my siblings. We played outside a lot, and even when watching TV we had a rule that we sit far away from it since my parents believed it ruined eyesight. That said, as far back as I can remember I haven't been able to see far away, I just assumed blurry-ness was the norm. I got my first eye test done as a first grader and first started wearing glasses then. I was told even back then that my eyesight would get progressively worse throughout my childhood but would stangnate as a teen/adult which is exactly what happened, my prescription got worse year by year as a kid but hasn't changed since I was around 15 (which is when I stared playing video games and got a cell phone so..) and I have had the same perscription for near a decade now. All my siblings are nearsighted except one, which the eye doctor said is strange for her to have a totally nearsighted family but be farsighted, but it can happen. I always assumed that meant eyesight is at least slightly determined by genetics. I haven't really looked into it, looking up close at things could possibly train your eyes to get more nearsighted, but I don't think someone born nearsighted could really purposefully train themselves to stop being nearsighted and vice versa. In fact I'm pretty sure eyesight is more determined by the shape of your eye, an eye doctor can tell if someone is or isn't nearsighted with an examination, just not their exact prescription. So idk the exact factors, but I'm sure it's largely genetic.
@woolandflax nearsightedness, which is what most young people need glasses for, is actually a very modern issue that some experts theorize has to do with less sun exposure during childhood when the eyes are still developing! obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, but nearsightedness used to be much rarer
