Why tiptoe through life to arrive safely at death

This speaks real truths to me. Death is a fear, like most, I have battled to overcome all my life. I am quiet and mostly avoid confrontation where ever I can but I'm not afraid of it. I hate violence of all kinds and believe the only time to use it is to defend yourself. I firmly believe this and have had to act upon those beliefs on unfortunate occasions.

In recent years I have grown to realise that taking the upper hand or simply silencing an asshole isn't fulfilling enough. Trying to let things lie and minimise conflict for an easier life.

People will never change and I've just given up trying to be kind to nasty people. Fuck'em. I now apply a three strike rule to all my new encounters. First strike allows for a bad day. Second stick leaves room for misunderstandings. Third strike is your one last chance to prove to me you're not a ballbag. After this you're on your own. I'm not nice after that. You're a prick and I'm not treating you any different.

I'm a nice person if you deserve it. And if I'm not being nice to someone I guarantee they really really REALLY don't deserve niceties.

Life experiences harden you. Don't shy away from bitches, be smarter than them and don't let them get away with shit. Be strong, be kind, be a badass. And remember life moves on and people forget. Speak up or loose your voice.

I started art journaling again last night. For the first time in months. The pain of a recent bout with mental and emotional abuse sent me reeling...back to the ER and into crisis counseling. This Ted Talk is spot on describing the driving forces that a social movement needs to take off. Listening to Adria, a well-spoken ordinary young woman, sharing her parent’s story of an interracial marriage from the fifties, and how it affected her life to commit to social change, was inspiring. Adria describes social movements as messy, iterative, and innovated, they require individuals and organizations who would create new ways to disrupt the status quo, to challenge us to reach a vision we haven't seen, they are leaderful and require leadership (Goodson, 2015).

While most of the past and present social movements around the world differ from each other in many ways, they all generally go through a life cycle marked by the progressive stages of emergence, coalescence, bureaucratization, and decline.

Social movements need leaders who have the ability to convert others to follow them. However, they need to have followers who are also able to believe in what is trying to be changed and have the power to bring others into the fold. This can be done today without even leaving your house with social media. Issue awareness can spread with just a click; thousands of people all over the world uniting with the cause. No longer do you need a public face, with those social media savvy, your leaders are born and inspiring audiences without ever meeting them.

Participation and actual engagement are two different levels of social movement. While both are important, the movement needs actual people out in the public to make the change work.
