norm power never thought imperfections could look so beautiful.
the power twins were raised to be physically “perfect”: flawless skin, athletic and lean build, healthy. they weren’t unhappy, but their life was lacking. after norm’s arm was “defiled” during that fateful match, he knew he needed to rub off the god awful tattoo. for the sake of the match. for the sake of his and his brother’s image. as he reaches the bathroom, norm finds himself entranced with the mark on his lightly freckled skin. before he couldn’t pull away from the thoughts filling his head: images of body modifications came to mind, ways he could ruin his “perfect” image, but in return finding his perfect image.
norm was the first, and the boldest, of the twins to get body mods
after committing himself to experimenting, he got his first tattoo: flowers on his bicep
although large, it is done in fine-line, making it easy to cover with makeup
the placement also meant he could just wear longer sleeves
stan followed suit, because he was curious
his first tattoo, and every one following that, was done on places easily hidden
stan wasn’t appalled by them, he just found it more fun to be a secret
norm prefers blackwork tattoos
stan enjoys the japanese tattoo style
both are fans of cybersigilism

Anyone want to talk about how insanely powerful Neve Gallus is as a mage?
She's a laetan mage (meaning she was born to a non-mage family) so whilst she still would have had circle training in Minrathous, it won't have been as grand an education as someone of the altus/magister social class.
And yet, she can hold her own against a powerful blood mage (Aelia - who's definitely powerful because she can puppet people without being in the vicinity), and even protects Rook from Elger'nan's spell at the end of the dual dragon fight??
She throws up a barrier against an eleven God's magic, that has everyone else blasting backward, and it holds.
She can also do time magic (as can Emmrich), which has very bizzare canonical implications after DAI (Dorian's introduction with Alexius and the time magic...)
I'm biased, because she's my second favourite Dragon Age character (no one is kicking Cassandra 'Disgusted Noise' Pentaghast from top spot), but I'm not wrong here. Right?

since i’m on my third mdzs brainrot of the year, let me just say: it’s enlightening how this story, spread over multiple volumes, goes over the simple but undeniably true reality that even while doing almost everything “right” you can still be horribly “wrong” in the eyes of society. how wei wuxian would bend over backwards to follow his morals (which have been narratively shown to be somewhat the standard) but still be condemned at large because he didn’t go about it the way that was perfectly compliant with what his social superiors and other authority figures expected of him. how “good” deeds in the mdzs world (and ours) will only be accepted and praised, coming from someone of lower social standing, if they are packaged in an unobstrusive manner–and sometimes, not even then. and it’s funny how some people miss that, how they wonder what would have happened if wei wuxian had been just a bit more tempered, a bit more subservient, a bit more polite. how the expectation of delivering his kindnesses in the most unhindering manner possible is somehow an acceptable train of thought–how the burden to do better is not unequivocally placed on people like JGS, Jiang Cheng, Nie Mingjue, the Lans, etc.
some people think that wei wuxian using demonic cultivation in the eyes of the cultivation world is his downfall. nevermind the fact that he literally isn’t practicing mo dao–this whole issue is NOT about what he’s doing, but about who he is. mxtx has made that clear at multiple points in the novels but the most glaring example is, ofcourse, how the nie sect is allowed to mess with resentful energy all they like and since they are a powerful enough sect, they face no social or political backlash for it–not in the way that wei wuxian does. even then, during the war, those people had no qualms against weaponising wei wuxian’s powers for their benefit. if it truly was about the dubious morality of using mo dao for them then wei wuxian should have been condemned from the get-go. but it’s not. it’s about the son of a servant wielding enough power to change the tides of a war and then surviving to tell the tale and continue to live with the kind of power that shouldn’t be held by someone of his station. it’s about people quaking in their boots because wei wuxian has shown himself as someone who won’t conform, who won’t become a dancing monkey for their tunes.
yes, wei wuxian is not some perfect angel saint but then, why the fuck should he be??? this expectation from some readers and the members of his world alike, that wei wuxian should have been the one to give it his all and more to avoid conflict is blasphemous. in the end, wei wuxian chose his path, stuck to his ideals, and went down throwing a big fuck you at the larger cultivation world’s back, while the rest failed to break the cycle of power abuse. the fact that it took them more than a year to see him to death is just a testament to how well wei wuxian handled things than some grace given by the cultivation world. the whole “wei wuxian’s first death was inevitable” is, for me, not about wei wuxian slowly spiralling and things getting out of hand. his death was inevitable because corrupt people with power will always choose to exploit and silence, will always choose to exert their will, will always choose to hurt those lower in the chain. and that is exactly what happened with the ambush and everything that led upto it.

…you can see i have a favorite twin
tw // kidnapping, power imbalance, implied noncon in stan’s part, yandere themes
18+ :)
yandere ford where hes hyper paranoid and freaked out about bill coming back, so he kidnaps you and keeps you trapped in the shack/basement of the shack. the kids and stan know hes being crazy, but “grunkle ford is just worried and scared for u and he really really needs you” so they let him keep you. ☹☹️
yandere stan who abuses his role as boss at the mystery shack to make u do whatever he asks. especially since wendys in college and the kids are in california, no ones around to stop him or help you. soos thinks the world of stan, so he’s not going to believe you. buying you a tight, short uniform, making you come in early and close late, he’ll call you into his office just to tell you to pick something up of the floor for him, slowly leading up to him bending you over on his desk and teaching you exactly how to treat your oh-so-kind boss☺️☺️

Ford talking to no one on a broken disconnected phone makes me feel so many emotions and I keep thinking about Stan seeing him do something like that
Kook Ford is quite obssessed with phones, whether they are disconnected or not! He personally owns several dozen land-lines that he either found in the dump or stole them himself from restaurants, bars, or telephone booths. He's notorious in town for it. No one knows how he does it; they never witnessed him actually do it! The phones are just there one day and gone by next morning, sometimes quite literally ripped straight out of the wall.
Tumblr media
He likes to listen to his friend and family's voices over the phone (even though we know they're not real), just like the good old days! He keeps so many phones around him because he's afraid that one day he'll accidentally miss a call from a phone, and then they would just stop coming. Then he'll have no one to talk to!
Tumblr media
Stanford hears the phone ring all the time. He used to even before he fried his brain with Project Mentem. Whilst he was spiraling, Ford would hear his land-line ring constantly at the shack.
He was in a terrible state, just having lost Fiddleford to the portal and his brother to some car crash halfway across the states, not to mention Bill's betrayal and torment. He desperately tried to at least keep one thing in his life under control, purging his brain from Bill even if it meant drilling metal slabs into your own skull. Obviously it didn't work.
Lead delirious with his grief and newly formed head wound, Stanford began to hallucinate. He kept getting phonecalls from no one, and nobody would keep knocking on his door. The phone would ring and never stop. When Stanford went to pick up the phone, the only thing he'd hear was the dial tone (and if he listened closely, he swore he could almost hear whispering in the static). No matter where he was in the house, the phone. Kept. Ringing.
He eventually grabbed a kitchen knife and just cut the phone line. The phone still rang the next day.

hey so do you guys ever think about how often Diluc is referred to as the ‘uncrowned king of Mondstadt’ since he’s like the only male heir to the noble families and like it or not, where Jean is the authority of the nation, he’s pretty much the symbolic face of Mondstadt and the values the nation projects— and despite his temperament, Diluc has learned to embrace it wholeheartedly. He’s charismatic, extremely righteous, and he blazes bright and gives the people of Mondstadt a fire that guides them in the dark, quite literally. Like he’s literally Bruce Wayne lmao
But he doesn’t want this, no, and here’s the proof- maybe he did, once upon a time, before everything happened— but he doesn’t really care about wine, he only cares about the winery because of the people in it and his father. He’s righteous but doesn’t give a damn about the rules and the knights of favonius. After what happened to him, he’s clearly a rebel at heart now, not some charming superhero who does everything expected of him, unlike before. In summary, Diluc was someone who was quite literally ready to become an (uncrowned) prince, pretty much royalty in every way except title- and on surface level, he still is, but he throws that mantle away in secret whenever he can.
And then look at Kaeya, his brother who’s always lived in his shadow. It’s easy to see that now, people don’t really project Mondstadt’s values onto Kaeya the same way they do onto Diluc, since lots of people hardly even remember that they’re brothers. And yeah people still think kaeya is reliable and nice, but also because of how Kaeya built his image after Diluc left— an excessively over the top personality that pretends to be sadistic, mean, and at the same time dripping with false charm. So despite that people still find him approachable and nice as expected of a knight, hardly anyone would call him befitting of a prince.
But Kaeya is actually so painfully and authentically ‘princely’ and kind, deep down— the way he deals with children, his fierce loyalty and willingness to protect people at all costs, his self sacrificial tendencies that most often appear for Diluc’s sake. Even the tidbits of lore we get about him scream aristocracy- his ‘ceremonial’ bladework, Alberich family secrets that reveal just how central they are to the kingdom of khaenriah. This is kinda obvious to any player who’s bothered to learn anything about kaeya, but to the characters in game, there are very few that know that side of him.
And whereas Diluc is forcibly projected the title of royalty and secretly rejects it, Kaeya was actually born into it- his family is very important to Khaenriah, and much like how he does with anything related to his past and heritage, he loudly and outwardly rejects anything to do with ‘royalty’. Diluc outwardly rejects what Kaeya shows (a darker, more means justify the end’ nature), and Kaeya tries to hide what Diluc projects (a sophisticated and aristocratic upbringing).
Honestly? It’s as if they were swapped at birth. Kaeya’s real hidden nature, even after everything that happened to him, remains to be so unwavering and people-oriented, while Diluc’s true personality changed drastically over time. Not that Diluc isn’t unwavering or whatever, but Diluc mostly actively rejects relationships and prefers to do everything alone, obsessed with the idea that he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt, whereas Kaeya always, always yearns for companionship and for people to be by his side- solidarity.
Diluc is the poster image of royalty, but his brother who hides in the shadows is a real king. They complete each other, balance each other out, represent the parts that the other hides. I don’t know if hoyoverse always meant them to be that way, but damn they basically represent each other’s parts of themselves that they lost. Yin and Yang, two halves of the same whole.

I think one of my favorite things about modern cartoons of the 2010's - 2020's is the amount of great characters that came out of this era of cartoons.
