Was thinking about what would happens if an author on Ao3 I loved died and their subscribed readers never knew why they stopped uploading. I mean it happens all the time for various reasons not just on Ao3 either. People grown out of interests. Life gets in the way or something as simple as getting locked out of an account.

There was that Stan ((maybe a swifty or Arianna fan on twitter maybe?!)) account that went to prison and posted to say they wouldn’t be active for a while a few years ago and everyone was joking about it. Or another example; that famous screenshot of a blog saying ‘ sorry I haven’t been posting I got diagnosed with bpd and I take meds now and I don’t like BTS anymore’ or something like that.

I just think it’s hilarious and Ao3 authors are kinda knows for being comically unbotherd. Like ‘sorry I didn’t upload this week, my house burnt down’. Or something that crazy. I know it’s a running joke but think it a great prompt for identify porn.

Like Tim as a huge Batman and robin fan with unsupervised internet access definitely had read and subscribed to all kinds or ao3 content. Maybe one of his fav Batman authors stops updating there ongoing fic randomly dispite having weekly uploads. Turns out the updates stopped the week Jason Todd died. Tim never figured it out or maybe he does or just has a hunch about it. No wonder he likes the writer so much they always had such an accurate depiction of the Batman and his dynamics with others. Tim liked that this author wrote Crackfics that put Batman in the stupidest situations, or wrote the most heartbreaking sentimental masterpiece about love and found family and robin and Batman’s dynamic 😍🥰😩

Jungkook has never been a threat or direct competition to Jimin, please🙄. There's only one member in BTS whose solo songs were consistently doing very well compared to the others not only in the charts longevity but in impact. There's only one member who's consistently been referred to as The Record Breaker, History Maker and Legend Maker.

Jungkook was never a threat. PJMs never thought that way. The problem we have with Jungkook now literally started during Seven era, while we've had to deal with JJKs' one-sided beef waaay before then, which became worse with the release of With You. They compared its records to JK's solo songs for no reason and very few pjms gave then attention during that time.

But now.. Jimin's solo debut was fucked in favour of Jungkook, he was suppressed in every way just so people can believe that Jungkook is bigger than BTS. Bro, BTS made kpop popular literally everywhere else, including the fucking biggest music market in the world - the US. They're the only Grammy nominated kpop artist. If you know about kpop, chances are it's because of BTS. They're one of the biggest groups ever atp. Yet did anyone name BTS as GOAT? Of course not. OP mentioned JK as a contender for GOAT in the future (in the future?? Aside from being an ace idol, the first Asian artist to perform at the WC, having the fastest song to 1B on Spotify, being BTS and having millions and millions of fans - what more does he need to fucking do??), and only some people agreed. Hilarious, I swear. They're like sheep parroting what they once read about "legends" in kpop. Most of these stans are 3rd or 4th gen stans. BTS lmao 💜. Been a fan since 2018 (first heard of them in 2015 (DOPE MV) but I had no idea how to find stuff about them). Eventually met a friend who clued me in when I asked for names lol. Also Tomorrow X Together (TXT) since their debut. I'm a pretty casual kpop listener but I don't actively stan (buy/stream) from and for many artists.

I actually haven't watched shows in a while, so I guess it's webcomics/webtoons I follow? Recently, the latest free chapter of "Of Swamp and Sea" on webtoon has got me GIDDY! (black female lead as a love interest btw. the build up is soooo worth it to me).

I like Nintendo stuff, like Legend of Zelda and Mario Bros. (Luigi is my baby, I wuv him 💚). And Pokemon.

WAIT, just remembered I watched "My Adventures With Superman" and I LOOOOOOVE it. Anything with my Good Boy Clark Kent is good to me!!

Do you know why there is this immense hate towards bts ? They are one of the most non problematic top celebrities ever. They don't involve in any mess nothing. Don't get into beef with any of their favs. They are so private with their personal life also. But people still hate them ?

No wonder ARMY doesn't bother listening to other kpop groups. Idk what I was expecting but I heard this was THEE Taeyang of THEE BigBang but then, side by side with Jimin he just looked so mediocre and I'm not even hating.

How did BigBang even become so big? How are they considered legends of kpop? Why do kpop stans hate on BTS so much when even 2015 BTS surpassed BB by any objective metric?

Like I've said before, a lot of ARMYs listen mostly to BTS not because they don't know what other k-pop groups are doing, but because they've heard it all and decided BTS is more their taste and, some would argue, better than a lot of what's out there.

BTS has Jimin, BigBang does not.

And again, like I've said before, k-pop is so inherently hyper-competitive that good talent is what will eventually come out on top though the Big3 definitely still leverage their privilege to enjoy momentous success from time to time, and often rely on the confirmation bias of k-pop stans to try to create a moat around their groups.

A very good case study will be YG's new girl group, Baby Monster, and NewJeans - compare the response of k-pop stans to both groups over the next 12 months (though Baemon hasn't debuted yet, there's enough chatter to begin forming an opinion). Baemon's debut will be incredibly successful because of the buy-in from the rest of k-pop fandom that is ideologically opposed to anything related to BTS. It's a bit hilarious but it's a dynamic I've seen play out in real time, at several points over the years. Baemon's debut will be an excellent opportunity to check if I've just been talking outta my ass lmao.

I actually disagree with you that 2015 BTS surpassed BigBang "by any objective metric". At least in terms of concert showings or audiences, BigBang was still better than BTS on that note. But in terms of the quality of music output, BTS was already ahead of many of their peers and seniors by 2015 - so it was only a matter of time before the size of concert audiences reflected that. It's cute that Jimin liked Taeyang at debut and maintained that good-natured view till now, and on a practical note, if BTS want to maintain their social license to operate in k-pop at their current scale of success, these sorts of collaborations are necessary.

I'm not going to dwell on any more comparisons between the two groups because I don't see the point. Those who view BB as legends are sentimental k-pop stans, and I'm not going to begin to argue against sentimentality.

4th generation of Kpop is the most boring generation of Kpop. Yeah, they're very skilled and hardworking. There have been some bops occassionally here and there, but boring.

And it pains me to say this as a bg stan but, most of those bops were from girlgroups. Idk, I'm not against noise music. But some of,actually a lot of groups aren't serving us much in the name of some bass boosted sounds.

And why all of yall gotta do more or less the same concept?

And it's one thing to use English demo and converting it into Kpop song. But the westernification has got to the point that songs don't sound anything like signature Kpop.

2nd generation and 3rd generation left some very big shoes to fill in. They don't make legends like BigBang,EXO,BTS,Mamamoo anymore.

Like, there are good looking and talented idols but we don't have icons of the generation. Stray Kids- all rounder members, Ateez- they tear up the stage with their performances, TXT- one of the very few boygroups in gen 4 that has 'like at first listen' songs. But they're all more or less on the same level. There's none iconic. Good but they lack the factor to make you lose yourself in their perfomances(EXO,SHINee), or make you jump to their every beat (BigBang,2ne1) or give you goosebumps when they perform(SNSD).

Tbh, i forgot to inform you that it was not only that you convinced to to finally listen to bts, but to kpop in general. I had some weird dislike for bts because of the 'boy with luv' ( was salty they didn't give halsey more lines) and was afraid of k stans in general. I don't personally love their newer releases, but wings is *chef's kiss* and also all of their cyphers are amazing.

I think i'm gonna have to go with Yoongi for my bias. fitting since he was the first person i read fanfic about lmao

tbh i feel you on the fandom aspect 🙈 i casually followed bts for quite a while before i got fully into the online army world. i think there are a lot of negative perceptions about kpop fandom - some based in truth, some less so - that largely come from the 'vocal minority' that sadly tends to exist for any kind of large community. just gotta carve out your own groove with what works for you!! and as with anything on the internet, the mute/block buttons are always your friends 🫶

They went to the Grammys.

They put themselves first for once and they did things on their own strength. They out there so respectful and humble.

Jhope - His album and live performances this year has made me so happy. The man has been killing it. He went to a new country and performed by himself. He did so well. I honestly couldn't look away at any point because I was scared I'd miss something amazing. He continues to be humble and supports all his fellow members. Rush Hour was amazing collab and I loved how he is a celebrity of celebrities.

RM- He is the one that made me the most emotional this year. The Festa lunch broke me. His album is comfort personified. I think he does an amazing job as a leader. He always makes sure the team comes first sometimes at his own comfort. Sexy Nukim is such an amazing song and to hear legends from both the Korean and Western Industries speak about him in such high regard makes me so warm inside.

Jimin- Jiminie is 1/3 of my bias line. He will always have my heart. To see all these producers and singers excited to work with him makes me so happy. I just know his album is going to be bop after bop. I can't wait to see what has in store. He continues to be the sweetest. He always hypes up his fellow members and the fans. This year, his OST release blew my mind. With you makes me sob uncontrollably and I am so proud of him always. Can't wait for his album.

jungkook-Where do I even begin with this one? He is so humble. The man performed at FIFA. Which is one of the biggest things any artist can do. AND HE PUT HIS WHOLE BEING INTO THE PERFORMANCE TO COME OFF AND SAY HE COULD HAVE DONE BETTER. MY MAN. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. SIR???? Also, every song he puts out is just a bop. No questions asked. The man has outsold every step of his career. Watching all his Hyung proud of him really warmed my heart. He continues to be such a excellent person. ILOVEHIM. And if the rumors are true and he has a girlfriend. I am happy for him <3

Taehyung- Tae at Paris living his life brings me such joy. He continues to be such a cute human. At every concert, the way he was so considerate and kind. All while being one of the most sorted after idols on Instagram, in the fashion world, and on social media in general. Every time he posted a picture on Instagram I have to remind myself that I shouldn't be delulu. Also, the man leaked the Run BTS rehearsal. He's an utter legend. I hop next year, he gets to show us his music and his acting. I am loving Chpater 2 Taehyung so far. Despite all the shit he has been through this year, he still always has a smile on his face for us. An Angel. He is 1/3 of my bias and owns all of my heart.

Yoongi- Sir has me in a chokehold since March. He has had me in a chokehold since I started stanning BTS. He is my bias for a reason. This year I have been really amazed by him. From producing one of the best K-pop songs to having a legend absolutely whipped for him to becoming a Grammy-nominated writer. I hope he gets what he wants. It's going to be so hard for me to see him go. But I am so glad he is thriving. 2022 was really his year. As a producer, musician, sports lover, and person. He deserves all the hype and recognition. He works so hard and can't wait for his show Suchwita and what this chapter holds for him. He's so cute in all the RUN BTS episodes. Every time I see a clip of him, it makes my day 100 times better. Every time he posts on Instagram with his long hair I lose a couple years of my life.

Jin: I am absolutely shattered about losing Jin. I am so worried about him. I hope he is safe. He has the biggest heart. The way he stayed till the winter for army. The way he is leaving us with so much content and comfort. I hope he gets to come back on his own terms and blow us away with his album. His friendship with Coldplay, his bluntness with senior Korean celebrities who have treated them like shit, and his patience with army. They are so commendable. It breaks my heart every time I think of Jin and all that he does. His voice is absolutely beautiful. Awake and Epiphany are two of my favorite BTS songs. I hate that we have to let him go. Especially since he had most of the brunt of the debate and the hate that came with it. I just hope he knows we love him and I can't wait for him to come back. FIGHTING JIN. You will be back very soon.
