I had his pants refit and myself seated beside him before the tray clicked onto the table. Though we didn’t fool the woman who set it there.

“Your coffee, sirs,” she said with a sly little grin playing on plump, pink painted lips before she winked and added, “enjoy.”

My giggle caught an icy grip on my thigh and, when the woman left us, I set my lips close and soft against a warmer ear, “I love you, Lucient.”

“Terrible thing, you,” he scolded, breath short.

And I licked the ear, smiling for his gasp, “Mm?”

Turning, he sighed and snuggled into my offered lap, “I love you too, Ludovico, now hold me before I tear that pleased smile off your face.”

We enjoyed our coffee in relative peace, earning but a few glances for how tangled we sat, how low and close we spoke—and our occasional kiss or too intimate touch—before an oddity caught our eyes.

Mirrors. Not behind the bar but above the seats, on the ceiling. And in their reflection of all patrons, and our lack, it became apparent we were other. Silver backed, a simple method of detection and, while we'd encountered more who knew of vampires over our travels, only one of us worried it the reason for them.

Primitive as it is, there are Hunters everywhere now, Lucient warned, pressing ever tighter against me, eyes alert for more glances, we should have checked...

But I wasn’t worried, the woman behind the bar had been kind, and not a single mind I touched held concern for us in any capacity other than how close we were.

A concern I sought to inflame by shifting in my seat enough to lift Lucient’s face and soothe him with lips and words, none worry of our nature, my love, only our touch...but the proprietor worries of neither. We’re safe.

Pulling from my kiss, he returned the soft fingers on cheek and sighed, “you and your optimism, my treasure...”

“You love it,” I teased, teasing more with kisses of his fingers.

He took them back, giggling and nuzzling into my chest, “così tanto che potrei urlare.”

A gift of my native tongue, proclaiming he loved my optimism so much he could scream? How could I not tease more, “Mon amour à-t-il envie de crier?”

Closer he pressed, turning more on the seat to hold me, but his answer cut with a gasp. A gasp from those no longer watching us, one that rippled through the diner and drew our eyes back to the mirrors.

We were not alone in our lack of reflection.

Sitting in the corner opposite ours—curtains as tightly drawn and hidden under a thick, dark cloak—a fellow eternal lurked as a shadow too deep. And they did not enjoy being known, sighing in a manner reserved for towering mausoleum doors, they’d drawn the attentions of every bite of prey around us.

Mists replaced them, puffing and snaking through the diner, growing those gasps to scattered screams as people fled. Tickling our ankles with a soothing chill it slipped through a grate at the base of the wall we sat beside.

“I believe we're being summoned,” Lucient said flatly, colder hands firm on my chest as he narrowed his eyes at the wall.

Scoffing as I winked and slid under the table.

“We can't fit in there,” I told the swirling gray eyes in the grate, “no misty tricks.”

“Cemetery, biggest in the city,” it instructed, voice small and rasped, “find me when the sun is hiding, follow the cats.” Vanishing after, the odd vampire left a scent of fresh dirt and roses behind.

“How dramatic,” Lucient mocked, “we’re not following, are we?”

“They don’t appear aggressive,” I said, crawling up to the bench, opposite him to slide out of the booth and offer my hand, “Worth a night, isn't it, my love?”

“Treasure, much as I love it, your optimism will be our doom,” he warned, but he took my hand, and snatched his jacket before following me out of the diner.

We held more eyes on our exit—what few remained—but I imagine the proprietor didn’t mind so much with the amount of money she’d find on our table.

hey. look at that! they figured out a framing device, good for them.

ok no that sounds really snarky but I really like how the episode ends with both sisters about to get a bigger picture of the night of the fire (Osha, already prone to visions, diving into the Force under the helmet, and Mae hearing Sol's side of the story), as a lead in to the flashback. I know there's been a lot of theories floated around that Sol/someone manipulated Osha's memories....but I actually think the flashback episode is presented as being true to life. I think if this was meant to be on a tight Osha perspective (with a fundamentally altered memory), I don't think we'd have also gotten scenes that she had no way of witnessing, like the conversations between Aniseya and Koril, or the advisors scene after the girls have been sent to bed. And I don't think whoever manipulated her memories would have left in the part where she hears the scream from the coven, as presumably they're killed. Like that seems like a big clue you'd try to remove if you were trying to convince someone that a bunch of people died in a fire and not in some single concentrated act.

so I do think that the next episode will be the same way: roughly everything on screen is as it really happened, an objective version, but given their current orientations to the truth, it will change the twins' perspective in different ways. Osha has been completely trusting of Sol and blaming Mae: finding out Sol was more at fault that she believes could shift her vengeful anger onto him (and make it easy to manipulate her into a darker turn). Mae blames the four Jedi, but might understand their perspective better (because I'm still on team the Jedi 'thought they were doing the right thing' and made mistakes but were generally acting defensively, rather than in cold-blood slaughter 🙄) and be willing to forgive.

But yeah, this double framing device actually works for me. Almost makes up for not having one last flashback episode.

Anyway now it is time to ✨log tf off✨ because it is a long weekend, I think I need to stop theorizing before I spin myself off into chaos, I'm pretty confident with my general expectations, if not the details — but I should stop overthinking this...and also some of the theories floating around are ✨upsetting me.✨(...Vernestra/Indara/Sol as the Sith master, any variation of 'the Jedi came to Brendok to purposefully cold-blooded massacre the coven, no nuance' (there's a bunch of variants of that I'll be really disappointed if they end up being true), Qimir is Imri (stahp), Sol broke Osha's brain and that's why she can't use the Force (reddit, she's seen struggling before she even meets Sol, what are you even doing—), Indara faked her own death for some reason, etc etc.) And that means it's time for a break! Terrible Trilogy I wrote in both the worst and best year of my life idk how to describe it and looking back chapters really reflect that bc how YN felt at times, that hopelessness, is how I felt. Yet at times the way they all were joking and reminiscing on a happier time was also a mood in 22-23 when I wrote it.

Korosensei was walking to the storage room putting up all of chemistry sets. He has been thinking of what his students had said earlier.

12:03-Lunch time/Planning period

The students were asking one and another their first impressions of the teachers. “Hey Nagisa, what did you first think of Mr. Karasuma?” Nakamura asked. “Well I thought he was one of those mean but cool bad ass spies you see in movies but now I think he’s a pretty cool class dad” Nagisa smiled.

“Yeah, even though it’s hard to tell when he’s having a good time or not” Kayano agreed adding on. “I don’t think the man have ever cracked a smile” Karma bluntly said. “Now that you say that, he’s never smiled at all” Kanzaki realized.

“Professor Bitch have you ever seen Mr.Karasuma laugh or smile?” Maehara asked seeing her pass by. “Actually….no now that I think about it— but I almost made him laugh before” Irina answered.

Back to the present

Karasuma checking and putting in grades as he heard two knocks on the door “Come in”. “Oh it’s just you game show” he looked out of the corner of his eye.

“Still refuse to call me an actual name I see” Korosensei rolled his bead eyes. “You know it”

“Anyways… you wanna hear a joke” Korosensei beamed. “Uh sure why not” Karasuma shrugged his shoulders giving korosensei his complete attention.

“Okay why did the chicken cross the road?” Korosensei asked. “To get to the other side?” Karasuma answered confused. “No to get to the idiots house, knock knock” Korosensei corrected. “Who’s there?” Karasuma sighed still confused. “THE CHICKEN AHAHAHAHA OHO Gahahd that’s funny” Korosensei burst into laughter. “Do you get it?” He asked. “Yeah I do it just wasn’t funny” Karasuma shrugged his shoulders.

“Oh c’mon!! maybe your happy wire is disconnected from your brain” korosensei whined. “That’s logically impossible” Karasuma raised his eyebrow.

“Awww Karasumaaaa Do you need a hugggggg? Korosensei cooed before he scooped him from out of his chair. “No! I don’t gameshow now put me dOhoWn!” Karasuma flailed around, he let out a giggle when korosensei’s tentacles held his side a bit too tight.

“…what was that?” Korosensei paused his hugging. “Did— did you just giggle” korosensei seemed intrigued. “N-no damn it, now would you put me down?” Karasuma slightly blushed. “Sure I will…after I figured out what made you giggle” Korosensei observed every inch of Karasuma before squeezing both of his sides. “GAhahA stAhp” Karasuma jolted.

“Oh my gosh your ticklish? Your ticklish” Korosensei chuckled in joy. “I-I am not n-now put me down” he demanded not looking him in the eye. “Okay okay I will… once you laugh” Korosensei snickered before he scribbled at his sides.

“Stahap ihit” Karasuma tried hushing his giggles. “Oooh playing tough guy now huh?” Korosensei grinned, as green strips appeared on him. “Knohock it ohoff” “hmmm no let’s move up a little” he refused as he moved up to his ribs. “NAh noho stohop” Karasuma with his free hand he covered his mouth. “Aww but you haven’t even laughed yet your just giggling your head off.” Korosensei teased, as he moved down to his hips.

“Ohohokahahay ihihi’m lahahaughing nohow” “hmm I think you should really laugh, and how dare you hide your smile from me ” Korosensei pouted. "GaHahHah yo-yoUhohou suhuHuck ahahaAHt tihicKlihIng"Karasuma sassed, laughing trying to push his tentacles away from his hips.

“See look at that charming smiling you should how it more often” he teased.
