Good morning! Let's start the day here with happy, very in love, Polin. Love the smiles. Wished the afterglow scene was longer. They were in bliss. 🥰🥹

man FUCK work-life balance. work should not be this central to our lives. the idea that we're meant to perfectly balance equal parts Work and Everything Else is so so dismal

colin: im not gonna even THINK about marriage this season. marriage is for losers
penelope: i want to get married this season
colin: there's LITERALLY nothing more important than marriage. it is the most significant aspect of our culture. we should all be aspiring to focus all of our energies towards finding the perfect partner. i love weddings don't you? i love love. i love when people get married.

I know it's been a while and I haven't been super active in the Polin tag recently, but I would like to discuss and try and process the Ambrosia deleted scene.
I'll start by saying that I rarely read or watch deleted scenes and think, "This film/show would be better if that scene had been included." And that's essentially how I feel about the deleted content that was released. The Ambrosia scene is interesting though.
On one hand, I understand why it was cut. Colin already told Fife and the other gentleman to fuck off, so bringing them back here feels unnecessary when that bit of Colin's arc already feels resolved. I'm also not sure how to feel about the way Ambrosia is framed here either. Depending on how the scene was shot and directed, it could very much lean toward the side of villainizing sex workers, which the previous brothel scenes avoided. If there was any concern from the Bridgerton team, I could again understand why that may have been a reason to cut it.
On the other hand, there are elements I really like about it too. As a demi!Colin Truther, I like that this scene continues to reinforce his sexuality. It's also a good contrast to the following scene at the Modiste. "What right do you have to ask me that?" hits even harder knowing that Penelope's assumptions are the exact opposite of what really happened. The difference in Colin's reactions when being complimented by Ambrosia and Penelope adds clearer context to Colin kissing Pen after she says, "I love you."
I guess the conclusion I've come to is that I like the scene, especially in context with the rest of the narrative (and any scene where we get more of Colin's POV is a good thing), but it could have been executed better. As the scenes stands, I'm not necessarily disappointed that it was cut. Had it been revised before filming, I would probably feel differently.
