Ok I think im realizing this 5 years too late but in Avengers Endgame how the fuck was society relatively ok after 50% of ppl got snapped. Like I know the "logic" will just be "uhhh superheros and movie magic" but like irl things with 50% death rates (I think the black plague was up there?? Something something dry firing a bow (pulling back the string and loosing without an arrow nocked) is bad for its structural integrity (as the energy that would go into propelling an arrow instead goes into the bow itself.) Link does this when out of arrows in botw/totk. Notably though, in botw/totk, dry firing doesn't cause damage to the bow, whereas irl it's something that absolutely would.

Maybe there's something here for fics? I feel like Wild would know better though 'xD but dry firing is something that could result in a bow exploding in your hands like what's seen in botw/totk when they break.

okay sooooooo I somehow got my hands on the cheese dispenser manual and apparently we're not following proper maintenance protocol as detailed in the instructions (like with so many of the machines at work tbh. WHY IS NO ONE READING THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS)

and apparently the part of the machines that's giving us trouble is supposed to be removed, thoroughly cleaned and reattached at least once a week???? and idk if we've got a dedicated educated worker doing that in secret or if no one's read the manual and no one's actually done the proper cleaning routine ever????? uhhhhh

don't wanna be a disruptive force at work on purpose (at least not more than I am on accident sometimes oops) but I would looove to print out the manual and ask the managers about that weekly maintenance passage ngl

but the incessant need to FIND SOLUTIONS AND FIX THINGS AND DO THINGS THE PROPER WAY AND MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR EVERYONE GRRRRR

(also apparently there's kinda hidden air vents on the dispenser that need to be cleaned weekly as well???? and idk if that gets done either???? HELP?????)

I just wanted to say I am really glad you are back, and I hope you stay safe. I really enjoy your blog and hearing about your life and thoughts (even the stressful or unpleasant parts, as that is surely part of a person's life), and I missed you while you were gone.

I snapped today at work, and by snapped I mean I politely commented on a help desk ticket by summing up an mess of an (type of) issue that's come up for at least the fourth time in the 2+ months I've been managing user accounts, and asked the person responsible to fix it (himself for once) because last time I fixed his mess-up it took me two whole days to work out the details with at least four other colleagues from different departments and I really don't want to do it again. there's other shit that needs doing, I've been working 10+ hour days for most of this week already, so I need to cut down not add on more.

(good thing tho - at least we managed to fix the issue where the dataset of a newer employee got mixed up with another one of the same name and therefore wasn't able to apply for any of the access/accounts she needed. technically not entirely my area but it does impact us not being allowed to create an account for her so I figured I might as well track that issue down. took three days and at least three other people, but hey - it should all work out now. yay for that)

Verloren uses a dual staff, which is considered one of the strongest types of arcaster (magic weapon thing), although it's also somewhat harder to use than a standard staff. It requires its user to be very good at managing their magis as they need to maintain balance between both focal crystals instead of channeling everything into a single one. But typically, having two focal crystals allows it to amplify spells to a greater degree than a standard staff could, and if its user is particularly skilled, they can even cast two different spells simultaneously, which can be useful.

Dual staves are also really good at keeping up a magic shield while you charge up something else to attack with. Verloren uses that strategy a lot in duels.
