At the 2023 Defcon hacker conference in Las Vegas, prominent AI tech companies partnered with algorithmic integrity and transparency groups to sic thousands of attendees on generative AI platforms and find weaknesses in these critical systems. This “red-teaming” exercise, which also had support from the US government, took a step in opening these increasingly influential yet opaque systems to scrutiny. Now, the ethical AI and algorithmic assessment nonprofit Humane Intelligence is taking this model one step further. On Wednesday, the group announced a call for participation with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, inviting any US resident to participate in the qualifying round of a nationwide red-teaming effort to evaluate AI office productivity software.
The qualifier will take place online and is open to both developers and anyone in the general public as part of NIST's AI challenges, known as Assessing Risks and Impacts of AI, or ARIA. Participants who pass through the qualifying round will take part in an in-person red-teaming event at the end of October at the Conference on Applied Machine Learning in Information Security (CAMLIS) in Virginia. The goal is to expand capabilities for conducting rigorous testing of the security, resilience, and ethics of generative AI technologies.
“The average person utilizing one of these models doesn’t really have the ability to determine whether or not the model is fit for purpose,” says Theo Skeadas, chief of staff at Humane Intelligence. “So we want to democratize the ability to conduct evaluations and make sure everyone using these models can assess for themselves whether or not the model is meeting their needs.”
The final event at CAMLIS will split the participants into a red team trying to attack the AI systems and a blue team working on defense. Participants will use the AI 600-1 profile, part of NIST's AI risk management framework, as a rubric for measuring whether the red team is able to produce outcomes that violate the systems' expected behavior.
“NIST's ARIA is drawing on structured user feedback to understand real-world applications of AI models,” says Humane Intelligence founder Rumman Chowdhury, who is also a contractor in NIST's Office of Emerging Technologies and a member of the US Department of Homeland Security AI safety and security board. “The ARIA team is mostly experts on sociotechnical test and evaluation, and [is] using that background as a way of evolving the field toward rigorous scientific evaluation of generative AI.”
Chowdhury and Skeadas say the NIST partnership is just one of a series of AI red team collaborations that Humane Intelligence will announce in the coming weeks with US government agencies, international governments, and NGOs. The effort aims to make it much more common for the companies and organizations that develop what are now black-box algorithms to offer transparency and accountability through mechanisms like “bias bounty challenges,” where individuals can be rewarded for finding problems and inequities in AI models.
“The community should be broader than programmers,” Skeadas says. “Policymakers, journalists, civil society, and nontechnical people should all be involved in the process of testing and evaluating of these systems. And we need to make sure that less represented groups like individuals who speak minority languages or are from nonmajority cultures and perspectives are able to participate in this process.”

I'm coming out of my cage and things are not fine, I'm screaming at NaNo "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!"
If you haven't already been made aware how borked NaNoWriMo is, in the past 24 hours they've released an endorsement of AI after partnering with an AI software program.
The problem is, much of what they're saying is outright bullshit, and I don't even need to get into the nature of belittling the very writers they claim they're sticking up for by talking over them. It's an exploitation of a community, using them as a PR meat shield.
Because it should be awfully apparent NaNo's goal isn't to foster a healthy writing community. If that were the true goal, their missteps for the past year following the child harm allegations wouldn't be happening. Rather, instead, it's more likely the reason every company has relentlessly pursued and pushed AI: $$$
I don't think I'm entirely off base to say money is the reason AI is mucking up much of our creative spaces. At the peak of this fervor, you could load up some listicle titled '5 Ways AI Boosts Your Side Hustle' or some YouTuber claiming to make thousands a month with their AI writing, as if it were that easy to make a living writing and silly authors have just been leaving money on the table.
The mad gold rush that followed impacted literary magazines and publishing spaces, such as Clarkesworld Magazine freezing submissions as they were inundated with poorly written nonsense. The people behind NaNoWriMo, however, apparently believe Clarkesworld Magazine is just being classist and ableist in their anti-AI stance. Yes. Certainly because of those reasons.
And not because their submissions jumped an untenable amount, almost 500% from their usual submission intake, and cost the lit mag staff untold amounts of mental harm (as well as a very real number amount of staffing hours and financial costs to combat this problem).
But to that, NaNo Org argues that AI is cost-effective, actually!
Which, we're back to the opening argument that NaNo is full of shit (in case you didn't realize that citation link was sarcasm and not evidence in support of NaNo's stance). It may be free to the end user to access AI, notwithstanding the many many models one can buy including NaNo's own sponsor, but the financial damages being incurred by the use of this tech is anything but. The fact NaNo glosses through this in three little bullet points is insulting.
But what really has gotten me to write off about this on a mostly dead Tumblr blog, is that I've worked in the publishing industry all of my adult life and I've been a part of the creative writing community about as long as NaNo claims to. Hell, part of my contract freelance work has been to go through slush piles and evaluate, by hand, if the submission utilized AI or not. Full transparency, that work has helped me get through medical bills this year.
Yet that's my point. Someone had to rearrange their budgets to hire many people like me to combat rampant AI-generated submissions, from college admission offices to literary magazines to other publishers. What could have gone toward the print run of a special issue or increasing the marketing budget of a debut author now has to go making sure illegal, plagiarized work isn't being unwittingly published and endorsed. It's not classist to take a stand against a technology that's disruptive enough to put people out of business, but NaNo takes aim and fires off some bullshit claim they're pro-indie authors.
You might be thinking, "But Steady, if the business can't adapt to the market, they shouldn't exist!"
And to that I say, not every single little thing needs to have a financial commodity price tag slapped onto it. Not everything needs to make money. Things have a right to exist without a price tag stickered on them. The onus of this situation is because NaNo partnered with an AI sponsor. They're outright seeking to make money out of this. Because they're well aware of the PR fiasco, they're high-grounding the situation by claiming they're sticking up for the little guys, while outright taking money from a harmful billion dollar industry.
Meanwhile, the little guy will find no publisher will touch their work, that their writing has no copyright protections attached to them, and they'll be blacklisted by those they stole the work from. NaNo claims this is unfair; sorry folks, that's just how it works. Stealing from your fellow writers tends to get those same writers to rally against you.
I don't need to be told that the publishing industry has issues, that fanfiction writers are made fun of and lambasted. But most of those issues stem from and feed right back into the very problem NaNo is claiming to stand against: The financial commodity of writing.
NaNo has everything to gain by you believing them and using their sponsorship coupon so you can generate works as a writer that have no copyright protections and likely violated the copyrights of fellow writers works in doing so (I can play the bolded words game too, you pricks (see their update in response to the massive backlash this stance has generated online)).
The final point I have to say, is that in NaNo's defense they claim their online workshops are just full to the brim! See the demand! Look, look with your special eyes how popular AI is!! You fools, this is the future at hand!!!
Except, I, an avid anti-AI writer and publishing professional, attend webinars about AI all the damned time. Mostly to understand what new angle or developments we'll have to defend against. Every single one of these publishing industry or writing webinars are, in the end, a sales pitch to get you to pay them rather than a fellow freelancer.
Notwithstanding, it's a marketing and sales 101 faux pas to mistake interest in a thing, eyes on screens and butts in seats, for tacit endorsement in said thing. Besides the obvious point that people most impacted by this tech would be interested in learning more about it, there's the very real possibility that the same crowd who drives clicks to Forbes and YouTube videos is partially the same crowd that flocks to these NaNo webinars seeking to make a quick, effortless buck.
So, in the end, NaNo isn't speaking to writers. They're speaking to people looking to exploit a blind spot in an industry in order to make $$$ in our Capitalist Hellscape. And in NaNo's rush to join that race, they're trampling over the community they've grown and fostered for over 20 years.
The insinuation of this entire statement is that NaNo is standing tall for the "little guy" that the writing community has just let wilt and suffer for years, neglected and unheard. And it's totally not that NaNo nuked their own forums, a free, accessible resource for such writers to utilize, and without warning fired all of their volunteer staff all because they dropped the ball in moderation and safety checks (I'm not touching on whether the groomer is still working for NaNo since that situation is tainted by rumors, sensationalism, and directly conflicting stories).
And topping this all off with a pithy little cherry on this shit sundae: "For all of those reasons, we absolutely do not condemn AI, and we recognize and respect writers who believe that AI tools are right for them. We recognize that some members of our community stand staunchly against AI for themselves, and that's perfectly fine. As individuals, we have the freedom to make our own decisions."
So not only does NaNo condone plagiarism and theft, they're quick to both-sides the issue, only to immediately say "we're all free to make our own decisions!" Not said is the heavy implication, "oh but if you stand against AI you're a classist, ableist dickhead!" Which, if it wasn't obvious, is so far removed from the truth it's insulting.
In short, fuck NaNoWriMo.
Also what the fuck does "further-proof" mean.
#2024 can't stop taking the things I love from me#fuck NaNoWriMo#nanopocalypse#on writing#NaNoWriMo AI#actually fuck AI while we're at it

The Training Simulation [FNAF HW2, Renegade AU]

Out of work and trying to provide for himself and his daughter, Desmond Anadem is offered something by his former employer: a chance at his old job back.
All he has to do is complete their training using a VR training system.
Even though they sent an off-the-shelf headset as a sign of good will, can he trust that even for a second that he will be safe?
=°•.🌹 Story 🌹.•°=
°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•🌹•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°
Desmond Anadem was currently re-evaluating his life choices.
After getting fired, and then fired upon, he thought that Fazbear Entertainment was finally done with him. But they weren't.
After the Raid on the megaplex, which he took part in whilst his daughter decided upon staying outside as a sentry - something that definitely had something to do with what she did prior to the 'Breach' - to monitor what went in and out, he thought that Faz Ent would finally give up the goat.
But instead they sent him an off-the-shelf VR headset that was still in it's packaging, a pair of controllers that were also off-the-shelf, and a copy of their VR training system (it was not the VR environment of which his daughter had spoken of; this was a peice of software that had been made in a game engine that was not owned by Faz Ent, and was just a game used to train up new human staff).
It felt like an awfully grand gesture of trust building, to send him a VR system that had not been touched by Faz Ent. Likely because they knew that he knew what happened to many others who used Faz Ent proprietary headsets, and the VR environment that they had been stuck in.
But Sylvia's sister was using a non-Faz brand VR setup when William posessed her. They'd had time to talk about it during the Raid: he had known that Ness was posessed, but during the Raid, Sylvia and Ness had explained the how behind what happened. Desmond did not disclose his involvement in tampering with the arcades to make freeing Ness easier; nobody had deciphered his sigils yet, so nobody needed to know.
Turning his attention back to the letter, all it told him that he was just going to use the training program and nothing more. The only Faz-touched tech was the game itself.
The box also had a letter. It read that they planned to re-hire him at a better salary, but he'd need to re-complete his certifications, as they had been voided when he had been fired.
'Blaming me for you fucks trying to shoot me again, I see.'
Yet despite that, he didn't seem to be able to refuse the offer. Faz Ent knew where he lived, and until the police got around the red tape of securing him a job and accomodation far away from here, he'd need to play safe.
When he told Cassie about it, she agreed. This was the safest bet.
Get the certifications back, see where things went from there.
After completing what he thought were all the minigames, he grabbed the in-game faz-wrench and opened the secret door, deactivated the inhibitor, and noticed a poster.
'Remove your mask?' Desmond thought to himself, 'Faz Ent kept trying to introduce these masks, but we just kept on using the eyepieces instead because those masks gave me and everyone else the creeps. Here goes.'
He reached his hand to his head, hearing the controller clack against the VR headset he was wearing, and removed a mask from the player avatar's face.
The room around him looked as abandoned and decayed as the megaplex did after the raid.
He returned to the computer monitor, and he noticed something that wasn't there before; they had hard modes.
'Expecting more out of me than before I see…' he grumbled as he begun the second gauntlet, and as he did, something irked him.
The animatronics that appeared in these new minigames also looked somewhat as they did during and after the Raid. Expected. The Daycare Attendant was a destroyed mess after the second fire in Roxy Raceway destabilised most of the megaplex and so was the DJ, and this game reflected it. The memory of seeing the DJ so beat up during the Raid haunted him, as did the sight of the miserable sun he saw that night. The fact that they had only gotten worse after the Raid made him feel sympathy for them for the first time. And after the so-called earthquake that Desmond was sure was an explosion the other day caved in parts of the megaplex further, he found himself worrying for the mental states of those robots for the first time too. Also, he was certain that Fazbear Entertainment only wanted him back so they could repair thier severely damaged bots. Maybe they made this game to specifically train him for that.
If he got near those robots again, the first thing he'd probably do would be to talk to them and see how human they are. A thought that would have been foreign to him three weeks ago.
Once he'd completed the rest of the minigames and re-earned the most useless certifications to ever exist, he found himself surrounded by staffbots that had appeared out of nowhere - a recreation of what Faz Ent wanted to happen to him and his colleagues no doubt - and after the staffbots attacked, the screen turned to static.
He tried to remove his headset, but he couldn't.
He called out for his daughter, but received no reply.
He stepped about in his panic and tripped over a cable, so he was definitely still alive. And when the static cleared as he crawled to his feet, he saw a staffbot's start up screen.
'What in the…'
And once it finished loading, he found himself seeing through the visual feed of a staffbot.
And then he saw his daughter.
He tried calling out to her, but she didn't seem to hear. The bot didn't output his audio input.
He tried to reach out to her, and the staffbot he was viewing the world through reached out.
And handed her that mask that only he and his daughter's sleeper side had seen. The Vanny mask; the mask that William had made to control Sylvia's sister. The mask that Sleeper had stolen before it had been used, and then lost after she saved Gregory and caused the Breach.
The mask that Fazbear Entertainment had tried to model technician masks after.
His daughter's Civilian alter, Civ, was currently fronting; he could tell from her eyes. She had never seen the mask before.
He tried to call for her to stop and put the mask down, but again, the staffbot didn't output his audio input.
He felt himself collapse to his knees as he watched Cassie put on the mask. And as she did, the staffbot shut down.
He could remove his VR headset again.
He threw the thing off with such force that it skidded to the other side of his apartment, landing under the shelf that held his father's retro Bonnie mask. He didn't care if the VR headset was broken or not.
Sweating, shaking, and disoriented, Desmond took a moment to breathe before clambering to his feet and calling for his daughter.
He didn't get a response.
Whilst he had been training, Cassie had gone off somewhere. And if that was really her who he had witnessed through the eyes of the staffbot, she was at a Fazbear Entertainment controlled facility. Though there was no way of telling which one.
Any Faz Ent facility could have staffbots. The mask could have been taken anywhere.
Cassie could be anywhere.
So he put on his work boots and ran outside.
Someone had to have seen his daughter, right?

Oct. 30 (UPI) -- President Joe Biden signed an executive order Monday that slaps new requirements on tech developers to mitigate the risks of artificial intelligence and establishes new safety standards that aim to protect privacy and national security.
Biden's directive is the most sweeping action yet to regulate AI, and entails several strategies to limit safety and security risks to the nation, including a trust-but-verify arrangement between the government and the private sector.
The order requires AI system developers to share safety test results and other critical information with the administration as they become available, especially in cases where an AI model poses a serious risk to national security, national economic security, or national public health and safety, the White House announced in a statement.
Under the order, Biden also calls on the National Institute of Standards and Technology to establish rigorous safety testing for the technology before it's made available to the public.
Biden directed the Department of Homeland Security to establish the AI Safety and Security Board, which will apply the standards to critical infrastructure in an effort to limit chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and cybersecurity threats.
The president told agencies that fund scientific research to attach specific conditions to federal funding for companies responsible for mitigating risks associated with AI-engineered biological materials.
"These measures will ensure AI systems are safe, secure, and trustworthy before companies make them public," the White House said.
Biden also ordered the Department of Commerce to develop public guidance for content authentication and watermarking to clearly label AI-generated content.
"Federal agencies will use these tools to make it easy for Americans to know that the communications they receive from their government are authentic -- and set an example for the private sector and governments around the world," the statement said.
Biden ordered White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and the National Security Council to develop further AI security actions to protect the military and intelligence communities.
The order also creates an advanced cybersecurity program to develop tools that would fix vulnerabilities in AI software.
Biden's order builds on several previous actions by the president to ensure safe and transparent development of the emerging technology, while he was also preparing to deliver legislation to Congress that seeks to protect the nation from AI's harmful potential.
The administration has secured commitments from more than a dozen tech companies to take a responsible approach to developing artificial intelligence for ethical purposes.
The order also contains priorities to protect individual privacy through stronger cryptographic tools and other protective technologies.
Biden called for government agencies to evaluate how they collect and use commercially available information to account for any AI risks.
The executive order builds on the administration's Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights, which was released earlier this year to promote responsible innovation in the field.
In February, Biden ordered all federal agencies to uproot bias in their technological action plans and to protect the public from algorithmic racial discrimination, which is also one of the primary capabilities of AI technology.
Biden's executive order reiterates these commitments, emphasizing the importance of countering bias and other forms of discrimination in AI to maintain equity in areas such as justice, healthcare, and housing.
Previously, the administration said it would continue working with the companies over time to keep controls on pace with AI's future development.
Biden's order also addresses AI's potential impact on the labor market, education, and consumer spending.

Choosing the Right Veterinary Equipment: Factors to Consider
Providing optimal care for animals requires the use of appropriate veterinary equipment. The selection of veterinary equipment plays a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and overall well-being of our furry patients. However, with a wide array of options available on the market, choosing the right equipment can be a daunting task for veterinarians and clinic owners. In this blog post, we will explore key factors to consider when selecting veterinary equipment, ensuring that you make informed decisions that benefit both your patients and your practice.
Purpose and Functionality
Before investing in any veterinary equipment, it is essential to understand its purpose and functionality. Assess your clinic's specific needs and consider the equipment's intended use. Whether it's diagnostic tools, surgical instruments, or monitoring devices, each piece of equipment should serve a specific function in your practice. For example, if you frequently perform orthopedic surgeries, investing in high-quality surgical instruments designed for such procedures is crucial.
Quality and Durability
Quality and durability are paramount when it comes to veterinary equipment. Opting for reliable and durable equipment ensures longevity, minimizing the need for frequent repairs or replacements. Look for reputable manufacturers or suppliers known for their commitment to producing high-quality products. Read reviews, seek recommendations from colleagues, and consider the warranties and after-sales support offered.
Cost-effectiveness
While quality is important, it is also crucial to strike a balance between quality and cost-effectiveness. Veterinary equipment can vary significantly in price, and it's important to consider your budget without compromising on the necessary quality. Evaluate the cost of equipment in relation to its expected lifespan, maintenance requirements, and potential return on investment. Sometimes, paying a higher upfront cost for a durable piece of equipment can be more cost-effective in the long run, reducing overall maintenance and replacement expenses.
Ease of Use and Training
Consider the ease of use and the learning curve associated with the equipment. Will your staff require extensive training to operate the equipment effectively? Look for equipment that comes with user-friendly interfaces, intuitive controls, and clear instructions. Additionally, consider the availability of training resources, such as user manuals, online tutorials, or manufacturer support, to ensure your team can utilize the equipment efficiently.
Compatibility and Integration
In today's digital age, seamless integration and compatibility with existing systems are important considerations. Ensure that the equipment you choose can integrate with your practice management software, electronic health records, or other diagnostic tools. This integration streamlines workflows, enhances data management, and facilitates seamless communication between different systems, saving time and reducing errors.
Size and Portability
The size and portability of veterinary equipment should align with your clinic's physical space and operational needs. If you have limited space, compact and space-saving equipment may be preferable. On the other hand, if you provide mobile veterinary services or have a need for equipment that can be easily transported, consider the portability and weight of the equipment.
Safety and Compliance
Safety is paramount in veterinary practice. Ensure that the equipment meets all safety standards and regulatory requirements. Look for certifications or compliance markings that guarantee adherence to safety guidelines. Pay attention to features such as built-in safety mechanisms, ergonomic designs, and measures to prevent cross-contamination.
Technical Support and Maintenance
Consider the availability of technical support and maintenance services for the equipment you choose. Prompt and reliable technical support ensures that any technical issues can be addressed efficiently, minimizing downtime. Additionally, inquire about maintenance requirements, such as routine calibration, cleaning, or servicing, and assess whether you have the resources or access to service providers for proper maintenance.
Feedback and Recommendations
Seek feedback and recommendations from fellow veterinarians or professionals in the field. Connect with professional networks, attend conferences, or participate in online forums to gather insights and learn from others' experiences. Their firsthand experiences and recommendations can provide valuable guidance in selecting the right equipment for your practice.
Conclusion
Choosing the right veterinary equipment is a crucial decision that directly impacts the quality of care provided to animals. By considering factors such as purpose and functionality, quality and durability, cost-effectiveness, ease of use and training, compatibility and integration, size and portability, safety and compliance, technical support and maintenance, and seeking feedback and recommendations, you can make informed choices that align with your clinic's needs and goals.

The Role of POS Software in Enhancing Customer Experience at Restaurants.
In the ever-evolving world of restaurants, providing an exceptional customer experience is crucial for success. From delectable cuisine to warm hospitality, every aspect counts. One significant factor that often goes unnoticed is the role of Point of Sale (POS) software in enhancing the overall customer experience. In this blog post, we will explore how POS software has revolutionized the restaurant industry and why it is indispensable for creating a seamless and satisfying dining experience.
Streamlined Ordering Process:
POS Software has revolutionized the way orders are taken and processed in restaurants. Gone are the days of manual order-taking, which often led to errors and delays. With the introduction of POS systems, servers can now quickly and accurately take orders directly at the table, transmitting them instantly to the kitchen. This streamlined process minimizes the chances of mistakes and ensures prompt service, allowing customers to enjoy their meals without unnecessary waiting times.
Personalized Service:
Another crucial aspect of enhancing the customer experience is personalization. OnlineEMenu POS Software enables restaurants to store detailed customer information, including preferences, dietary restrictions, and previous orders. With this data readily available, staff can provide a personalized dining experience tailored to individual tastes. From suggesting favorite dishes to accommodating special requests, the ability to remember customer preferences enhances customer satisfaction and fosters loyalty. OnlineEMenu POS Systems also facilitate effective customer relationship management by allowing targeted marketing campaigns and loyalty programs based on customer data.
Efficient Payment Options:
The payment process can often be a bottleneck in a restaurant's operations, leading to frustration for both customers and staff. POS software offers efficient payment options that simplify transactions, saving time and effort. Modern POS systems support various payment methods, including credit cards, mobile payments, and even cryptocurrencies. By offering a wide range of payment options, restaurants cater to customers' preferences and create a seamless payment experience. Additionally, integrated POS systems can split bills, apply discounts, and manage gratuities automatically, ensuring accuracy and eliminating the need for manual calculations.
Real-Time Inventory Management:
POS software goes beyond just facilitating transactions; it also plays a vital role in Inventory Management System. By keeping track of ingredient quantities and real-time sales data, restaurants can optimize their inventory levels and avoid stockouts or wastage. Efficient inventory management leads to smoother operations, ensuring that customers are not disappointed by unavailable menu items. Moreover, POS systems can generate automatic alerts when certain items reach low stock levels, enabling proactive ordering and maintaining a consistent dining experience.
Insightful Reporting and Analytics:
POS software offers valuable reporting and analytics capabilities, providing restaurant owners and managers with crucial insights into their business performance. Detailed reports on sales, customer preferences, peak hours, and more enable data-driven decision-making. These insights allow restaurants to identify trends, evaluate the success of menu items, and adjust pricing strategies accordingly. By leveraging the power of data, restaurants can continually enhance the customer experience, addressing any shortcomings and meeting evolving demands.
Conclusion:
In today's competitive restaurant industry, delivering an exceptional customer experience is essential for success. POS software has emerged as a game-changer, revolutionizing the way restaurants operate. From streamlined ordering and personalized service to efficient payments and insightful analytics, POS Systems empower restaurants to provide a seamless and satisfying dining experience. Reflection
This project movement has been a difficult one as I found myself having a slow start and my chosen electives didn't go in the direction I wanted. After talking with staff and evaluating what I could do I think I have made the best of my time in print, sculpture and graphic design.
Sculpture was difficult because I had a lot of ideas going in involving resin, molding foam, clay and dioramas and then was told to disregard those and adhere to what the lecturer wanted by thinking of the words surrounding my brief subject and translating that into very stationary materials like cardboard & wire. I did some cool things with the materials and think I did a good job at doing what the lecturers wanted me to do.
Print was very un and easy to learn the basics but when it came to printing with the inks I had a rough time getting a product I was happy with. My stencils took a long time to cur and didn't come out properly but I learned for next time and made a print I was happy with. Screen print elective is where practice makes perfect and I could see myself getting used to the ways the lecturer was showing us.
Graphic Design is where I had the best results as I am a digital artist at heart and am quite used to the layout and tools but the movement project made me go I places I hadn't gone before with tools and effects and I believe I made some pieces that translated movement with the Adobe software.
All in all its been challenging and there were some hiccups but I did what was asked of me and I did ask for help and thought my way through the artist block I had.

Why Time Management Is Crucial for Musicians
It is essential for musicians to manage their time effectively. By using time management, you can make the most out of every moment of your day. However, it's not as simple as it seems.
With the advent of easy-to-use end-to-end technology, there is a revolution in the way events are organized and prepared. Your Tempo provides four music business solutions to refine and support experts in the field. To free up more time for them to spend making music and sharing it with the world, they have always worked to make the processes for booking agents, tour management, talent-buying software, crew, and song publishers as simple as possible. The procedures of booking agencies, tour management, talent-buying software, crew, and music publishers have thus been streamlined.
One of the numerous advantages of contemporary software is the ability to use shortcuts, especially for repeated operations. It used to take days to complete specific activities and processes, but now it just takes a few hours. Music tour managers are among the many professions that may make use of these advantages. Specialized tour management software is now available to managers, increasing the overall operational effectiveness of their business. Here are just a few instances of how Tour Pro alters the landscape of music industry management software.
Ways Music Management Software Helps Musicians to Manage Time
Organizing
By locating all the important information for you and your team in one place, YourTempo's Tour Pro reduces the amount of time needed for manual organizational duties. The tour management software consolidates all calendars into one, eliminating the need for several, independent calendars. All authorized users have central access to this integrated calendar. Your crew can go over show times and notes information. The calendar allows you to attach papers, so everyone can get the information they need without asking for more paper copies or clarification. The same holds true for dress rehearsals, public appearances, bus calls, and other occasions.
As it includes the ability to incorporate vacation days, blacked-out days, and travel days, this calendar may also serve as a work schedule. You may quickly acquire a final count by taking a quick look at the calendar if you need to arrange how many staff members, you'll have available on a certain tour day. This removes the effort of getting in touch with each person, setting up times and dates, or scrambling at the last minute to get coverage because of staffing shortages or organizational issues. Your usage of the calendar will be more effective and clearer thanks to integrated options for color coding and sorting by event type for dates and events. Don't forget that you may add event-specific information to each crucial date on the calendar.
Streamlining Communication
Communication is crucial to the overall success of any tour management endeavor. This is valid for both large-scale and small-scale events; even a small number of people who are not on the same page can cause serious execution problems. Even when there are last-minute changes, Tour Pro makes it simple to make sure the correct people receive the right information. Each one of them has a separate area that is specifically for that purpose, and these sections have many of the same characteristics as day sheets. Printing, viewing as PDFs, emailing to your team, and adding notes are all options for your documents.
In order to further increase efficiency, you can even print the names of your guests directly onto envelopes and labels. Choosing who has access to guest lists, adding requests for automated approvals, and controlling who is permitted to request their own guest tickets are all things you may do as an administrator. When any of these events take place, you can even get alerts. Analysis, cost and revenue evaluations, and identifying potential development opportunities for the following quarter are all made simpler as a result.
Increases Efficiency
Tasks that frequently take too much time to do manually may be done more quickly using Tour Pro. The administrative side of things will take up less of your and your team's time. Instead, you may focus your efforts on creating a successful tour, which is what you do best. Your team's ability to collaborate will eventually increase if you stay organized and on top of communication. You'll spend less time on administrative tasks overall and run your business more efficiently.
Thanks to technology, live music is keeping up with the times. By utilizing music management software, you will be able to handle scheduling more quickly and effectively, improve accuracy by using real-time data, and increase productivity by maximizing your resources. You can contact their industry specialists at YourTempo for more information if you're interested in tour management software. You can maximize the success of your upcoming tour with Your Tempo.

I was gonna put this in the tags but fuck it, story time:
I had this job at a non-profit over ten years ago. I was hired to manage their comms, which wasn't my ideal career path, but I was coming out of chronic illness and believed in this org's work. I moved across the country for the job and planned to be there for at least two years but ended up quitting after less than a year. Not only did they violate my work agreement over and over, they also violated several state and federal labor laws. If that wasn't bad enough, the CEO was horribly abusive and I often spent part of my day cleaning up co-workers' tears in the bathroom because they were treated so badly. I've worked in some awful places with awful people, but this was by far the worst. It wasn't just the CEO, either - he encouraged mistreatment and awful behavior in the rest of the senior staff, who were only too happy to oblige.
Then came time for my six month evaluation, which wasn't actually scheduled until about nine or ten months in so it was really late. My department head (reader, we were a two person department and I was more qualified but she had been there slightly longer, which is the only reason she was the department head) spent the whole evaluation berating and demeaning me. For context, I was hired to manage the org's comms: beef up social media presence, manage the website's backend, support and help create marketing campaigns etc., and also be the on-staff photographer. What my job actually consisted of was 90% managing the database which was so outdated the company who made it no longer existed and the other company who bought them one out no longer had anyone on staff who could offer tech support. Most of my evaluation was getting yelled at for not being able to make this garbage software work when it wasn't even in my work agreement that I would have to do database management. I was threatened with job termination, but I had spent enough time mopping up the panicked tears of coworkers to know that this was a bluff to avoid me asking for a raise (one co-worker hadn't been good enough for a promotion she earned but was somehow qualified to cover for her boss's maternity leave, another was fired on a Friday and offered a higher job Monday without a raise after having the weekend to panic about being unemployed within two weeks, etc). I felt especially sure of myself since I had found time to fulfill all my other responsibilities despite all the database bullshit and had streamlined several processes so that tasks that took my predecessor whole days to complete took me only an hour (templates!).
After this blood boiling meeting the CEO, who barely ever gave me the time of day, took me into an empty office where he proceeded to talk at me for 45 minutes. He had a habit of putting his feet up on tables when he talked (and he liked talking. On my first day he wanted to have lunch to get to know me and went on an hour long rant where I couldn't get a word in edgewise and eventually hoped he would forget to breathe and pass out but alas, he was well practiced). With the setup of this particular office, since the desk faced wall, this meant he had his back to me the whole time he was talking. About five minutes in I took out my phone and started looking for jobs; he didn't even notice. A week later I took a sick day so I could take a job interview call from home; my dept. head emailed me a request halfway through the day and set the deadline for a task at 9am Monday. When I didn't reply to it until Monday morning, she threatened me again with termination.
Reader, you will not believe the surprise on her face when I insisted that an HR rep be at our next meeting. It was almost as stunned as when said rep affirmed to her that since I was threatened with termination HR must be present at all meetings discussing my performance. She also reiterated what the state labor board had already done so when I followed up with them: that it's illegal to threaten an employee with negative repercussions, let alone job termination, for not working during a day off, and especially since I had my auto-reply on and my dept. head should have received my "sorry I'm out sick will get back to you Monday" message, she should have known better.
I did get the job I interviewed for, by the way. And I did quit. However, unlike my dept. head, I looked over my work agreement first to make sure I didn't overstep, and sure enough there was no notice period stipulated. So.
Tee hee hee.
I had a standing weekly meeting with my dept. head to go over ongoing projects and tasks. I did not schedule a separate meeting with her. I walked into our weekly meeting and told her we will not be discussing our usual agenda. I watched her jaw literally drop as I listed her labor and ethics violations and stated very clearly that despite the commitment I'd had to this job and this org, I was quitting, that it was directly because of her appalling conduct and violations of my work agreement, and that my last day would be the end of the week (this was a Wednesday). She tried to hold over my head that "it might come off as aggressive to everyone else in the office to quit with such short notice" to which I replied that it was quite aggressive of her to threaten to fire me without giving me any prior warnings and opportunities to improve where she found fault with my work. In the end she begged for me to stay on for two more weeks; I agreed to one week because I had a planned vacation starting after that and already had flights booked, which I wasn't going to change for her nonsense. I'm petty and salty and it was delightful to see her go from trying to strongarm me to realizing she had no cards to play and resort to pleading for me not to jump ship overnight.
Not one person in that office faulted me. The senior staff were scared I would sue and were suddenly all sweetness and politness, except the CEO who outright shunned me and didn't speak a word to me or so much as look at me after that. Everyone else was excited for me that I was getting out (several of them had, over my time there, made the effort to let me know that my predecessor had been treated much better while doing shoddier work and that there was some sexism afoot, and felt for me because of how hard I'd worked only to be berated). At my last staff meeting, the CFO made a speech about how "we're all family here" and how I would be sorely missed because I had contributed so much. When it came time for me to reply, I looked her in the eye for an uncomfortably long time until she was visibly nervous and uncomfortable, and then said simply, "perhaps if you'd said as much earlier I might not be leaving" and left it at that. On my last day, after clearing out my desk, I took all my files off the shared drive and changed the language setting on my computer to Hungarian, so my dept. head couldn't access my work and had to start from scratch.
They learned nothing, by the way. Within the next couple of years they fired several people in awful ways for shitty reasons who had been there for years, including a pregnant woman (they wanted to save money by replacing her with the assistant they hired to cover her maternity leave, ie. the new employee was given entry level pay and the org wouldn't have to pony up extra insurance fees for a newborn). But reader, it gets better. It gets so much better.
See, the CEO had built a reputation for himself, because you can't be an egotistical abusive shit made of hubris and shouting without people noticing. I ended up sitting next to one of the org's biggest donors at a friend's wedding purely by coincidence, and spilled all the tea, including how this guy was a walking liability. By this point I'd also worked for a conference where I was able to get this CEO red flagged and blacklisted from ever being invited. And I contributed to a letter against him to the board signed by over 100 people connected with the org's work. All this came to a head and one day, miraculously, it was announced that he was stepping down. Not just that, but the org was going to have a PR makeover - the name was changed, and any mark left by this man was erased. He'd founded his org, and they not only removed him from its helm, but erased his legacy. They said he'd serve on the board, but as far as I know, he never did. And although I never want to see him again, part of me knows how delightful it would be to have the chance to tell him to his face how much of a role I got to have in stripping him of everything he'd worked for and abused. And he's fine, aside from the disgrace - he made ungodly amounts of money and if he's invested as well as I'm sure he did, he's set for life and has no kids to look after.
But the most important thing, the org did better than go out of business after I left. The CEO experienced actual repercussions, and the org became better and more ethical. The new CEO is someone I know to be insightful, thoughtful, patient, and an all around good person. The only thing better than the whole place going up in flames is a new, better place being reborn from the ashes.
