By Marcelo Fernández Bitar [translated from Spanish]
In just over 24 hours, Louis Tomlinson passed through Buenos Aires and caused a commotion, with hundreds of fans crowding at the door of his hotel singing and shouting his name, and also occupying almost the entire block where there is a FM radio station where he went to give an interview.
The fanaticism generated with his solo career by the former singer of One Direction in Argentina is so great that in fact he will give a recital in the same stadium where he was in 2014 with the mega-boy band. It will be on May 18 in Vélez Sarsfield.
Louis Tomlinson already has two solo albums and is touring the world presenting the most recent, Faith in the Future. It came out in November 2022 and surprised with his most rocky sound, close to the Brit-pop of his beloved Oasis, and less pop. It was number one in England and three singles came out, Bigger Than Me, Out of My System and Silver Tongues.
Hurricane Louis
The visit was really fleeting with the purpose of promoting his show next month, the old-fashioned way, when the artists toured the countries to advertise albums or tours, something they currently do on Zoom or with posts on their official accounts.
Tumblr media
Louis arrived on Friday night and spent Saturday fulfilling an intense schedule of activities, to leave early the next day.
First he went to the Vélez football field for a television interview which will be televised later by TN, and then he went to the radio station Los 40 Principales, where his fans filled the entire Gorriti street, between Ravignani and Arévalo, to witness an interview where eight listeners joined to ask him a question each.
He finally arrived at 4 p.m. at the Four Seasons hotel, where hundreds of other fans were screaming for him. There he gave a series of reports and chatted with Clarín in a room equipped as a small television set, with lights and a set with his name and the cover of the disc.
"Never, not for a second, did I think I would be going through some of the same experiences," he said, "that I was lucky enough to live in the band. I thought that was something unique. So being able to come here and feel the level of love and the incredible reaction on today's radio station, means a lot to me. When I imagined what my solo career would be like, I really didn't know what to expect.
Re-filling stadiums
At 32-years-old, Louis Tomlinson has the experience of having been part of one of the greatest pop phenomena of the last 20 years, with sales records and sold-out shows in stadiums around the world. And now he is repeating the fury alone, just as it happened just a little earlier with his ex-bandmate Harry Styles.
In Louis’ case, he first sold out the closed Movistar Arena stadium in 2022 and now he goes through a huge soccer field like Vélez.
Q: Did you think that being a soloist you had to start from below and sing in smaller places?
Louis: Yes, exactly. But it turns out that I can still play in big places, so it's great.
Q: Can we really talk about a mania of a "louistomlinson-mania"? Does it happen everywhere or is it special in Latin America?
Louis: I think that in terms of the level of similar intensity, and seeing what happened a moment ago on the radio station, that certainly doesn't happen to me everywhere. Let me put it this way: it's incredible to be so far from home and feel that level of love. I'm very excited to think about what the show will be like here.
Q: It's incredible that almost exactly ten years have passed since the last time you filled Vélez. How do you feel when you return to the same stadium?
Louis: I feel very lucky to be able to play in those places again on my own. I also feel very, very proud of myself and my fans. I feel like we have created something that is quite special and we did it together. With them as listeners, but also as facilitators. That really helped my confidence and made me feel good on stage. It's a lovely relationship and I'm very proud of it.
Q: This tour started almost a year ago, how did it evolve with respect to the first shows?
Louis: I definitely feel in a good place right now with the show. Anyway, in advance I was excited about this tour because this album was designed for the live show. So I was excited to see how the songs would work. And the energy is great. I am very excited to show Faith in the Future to Latin America.
Q: How did the idea of making a live cover of Arctic Monkeys come about?
Louis: Arctic Monkeys grew up about 20 minutes from where I live. It was something very close, very fresh in the mind and obviously huge. I was growing up and I'm also a big fan. I usually do the song 505 because it's very pretty.
Often, with the versions, I probably think more about what I would like to sing than about what I imagine that everyone else would like to hear, which may be misjudged, but I'm enjoying it.
Q: When you were a teenager you sang Oasis songs and now you have a rock band that sounds very Brit-pop, almost closing a circle.
Louis: Thank you. I am very, very fortunate to have the band I have, but they also perform sonically and visually, everything that is really important to me. They sound absolutely incredible. I don't think I would be able to do this without my band.
Q: Live you also perform songs from One Direction. Did you feel that kind of shadow at the beginning of your solo career and now you are more comfortable looking back?
Louis: I think a bit about both things. I think that at the beginning of my career I would have been a little more worried about putting too many One Direction songs in the repertoire. What I wanted most was to spread my wings and show who I was. But I think that as time went by, the nostalgic moments are really charming. So it's like a beautiful mixture of nostalgia and it's very nice to do it.
Ping-pong
Q: This is the third time you have visited our country. If you had to describe your Argentine fans in three words, which one would you choose?
Louis: Passionate. Loyal. Affectionate. That’s okay, isn't it?
Q: The soccer player Kun Agüero said that there is a lot of talk to you through Instagram or Twitter. Have you ever met him in person?
Louis: Actually, we have never seen each other in person. Over the years we've talked a little here and there, but I never found time. I have a kind of crazy hope that he can come to the show.
Q: If you had to choose one of your songs, either from Walls or Faith in the Future, that reflects how you feel right now in your life, what would it be?
Louis: I would say that the name of the album (Faith in the future) represents where I am right now, but I think that in the future I would like to always be optimistic.
Q: And if all the One Direction discography was deleted and a song had to be saved. Which one would you save?
Louis: It's interesting... I would probably say Story Of My Life. That seemed like a real milestone. I would say it's a little more serious. And I also think it's a bit of a crazy song.
Q: You are a big soccer fan, do you have any preference for an Argentine club?
Louis: I'm very afraid to say something wrong... I'd better say that I love you all. (laughs)

[2024.11.22] 7 Corriere della Sera - Yuzuru Hanyu, the skater of hope: 'I dance on the ice: it is my prayer.'
Japanese, 29 years old: he is the greatest of all time. In 2011, after the earthquake, he fled with his skates on.
Tumblr media
When, on February 10, 2022, at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, injured and relegated to eighth place due to a hole in the ice during the short program, Yuzuru Hanyu performed the quadruple Axel for the first time in an Olympic Games, falling and rising again with elegance as if it were part of the choreography, the audience erupted in applause. He could have played it safe, Hanyu, winning yet another medal, even if it was the wrong colour. Instead, by risking everything, he won the hearts of millions, demonstrating what true honour and fighting spirit are. Because his jump was not just a leap, but literature. The culmination of courage, honesty, and the strength of character of an extraordinary artist.
At 29 years old, from Sendai in northeastern Japan, Hanyu is the greatest figure skater of all time: 19 world records; the only man to complete the Super Slam; the only one, after American Dick Button (1948-52), to win two consecutive Olympic gold medals in a much more competitive environment, despite asthma and a myriad of injuries. His technical and artistic excellence is so high that a recent AIPS ranking, compiled by a thousand international journalists on the most important athletes of the last hundred years, places him sixth: ahead of Michael Phelps and Maradona.
He was just 16 years old when, in 2011, the “3.11” Tohoku earthquake and tsunami (20,000 victims, with the epicentre near his city) struck the ice rink where he was training. He fled with his skates on, and for several days, he lived with his family in an emergency shelter without water or electricity. To continue training, he performed in charity shows all over Japan. The public gave him hope, and he gave them hope in return: he then decided he would win the Olympics for his people. This happened in Sochi in 2014: he was the youngest and the first Asian to win. In 2018, he did it again. At just 23 years old, he was awarded the People’s Honor Award by then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japan’s highest honour, for giving courage to his people.
Until someone decided Hanyu should no longer win. The rules changed, and his self-confidence was affected. He understood. After Beijing, he turned professional and never stopped. Producer, choreographer, screenwriter. In 2023, his solo GIFT (available on Disney+) was the first skating show to be held at the Tokyo Dome, a venue that has also hosted Madonna. Meanwhile, his efforts for disaster-stricken areas have multiplied. Camouflaged, beautiful, he has been a Gucci ambassador for several months. But Hanyu is also a philosopher, and recently had a conversation with the Buddhist high priest Ryojun Shionuma about the meaning of existence. Because Hanyu’s language is universal, transcending sport and boundaries, showing that difficulties can transform into strength.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More than 300,000 viewers from all over the world in less than two years for your shows, not counting all those who follow you through streaming. While competitive figure skating struggles to fill a few thousand seats, you are revolutionising professionalism, creating new formats to tell universal stories. At the same time, you have never been in better shape. Before, professionalism was the moment when a skater could relax. Now, once again, everyone is forced to chase after you.
"Before my series of shows Ice Story, it was unthinkable for a skater to perform more than ten programs, including some with high technical difficulty, in a single day, in a solo performance lasting over two hours. Not only that, but each program was independent of the others. Today, each of my programs is part of a cohesive narrative that tells a broader story, a worldview. I hope Ice Story becomes a symbol of Japanese entertainment. In a few days, I will turn thirty (on December 7th), but I don’t see age as a limitation. I try to give everything I have. When I was competing, the wall I had to overcome was made of scores. As a professional, I am the one who determines my wall, my limits. I continuously expand my boundaries, becoming stronger to break that wall. And then another, and another."
Many of your programs, and entire shows like Notte Stellata (Starry Night), which takes place on the anniversary of the "3.11" disaster, are linked to the experience of the earthquake. How do you cope with the difficult legacy of being a survivor?
"If it hadn't been for the earthquake, my life would be different. Every program I perform is, even if not directly, linked to that experience: it is, in a sense, a prayer. It was then that I decided to skate for the people. The concept of hope is in every program I perform. Like Haru yo, Koi (Come, Spring), which I also performed in Beijing. I believe I won my Olympic golds because I lived through the '3.11,' and if my medals have any meaning, in these troubled times for the world, with wars, pandemics, and natural disasters, it is hope. I would like to offer my victories to the world as a symbol of hope."
You have often spoken about the guilt you feel for surviving—the feeling of complete powerlessness, as you said recently, while reporting for Japanese TV among the people of Ishikawa, who were struck by the New Year's earthquake and subsequent flooding, where you performed for charity in September. You know what it means to live with the fear of an imminent disaster, and thus the importance of living our lives in a way that leaves no regrets. And it is precisely the meaning of life that is the focus of your upcoming tour, Echoes of Life.
"I studied bioethics, and I often reflect on life and death. The only thing we can do is move forward. Survive each day in this world where we know nothing of what awaits us; live one second at a time, one day at a time. I would be happy if my skating, in which I give everything, could convey the feeling of living in the moment, living fully. After the '3.11,' I was supported by so many people. I can only repay them by doing my best, even if it’s little. So many are still suffering. My commitment to ensure they are not forgotten is a thought that accompanies me every moment."
Since "3.11," your skating, your example, have been a comfort for those who suffer. Every day, on your YouTube channel, hundreds of people from around the world write to thank you. Do you feel the weight of expectations? Figure skating is an incredibly tough and lonely sport. But when you skate, it feels like everyone is skating with you.
"I feel the responsibility toward my audience, and thus toward my performance. But I believe it's a positive pressure because it helps improve my performances. Seeing the enthusiastic spectators is the motivation I need. Loneliness is a fact of life, but if my skating can provide comfort, can bring a smile, then that is my mission."
With programs like Seimei and Ten to Chi to, the first of which earned you the 2018 Olympic gold, dedicated to the famous mystic of feudal Japan, and the second to Uesugi Kenshin, the warlord and fierce defender of his people who became a Buddhist monk, you have brought Japanese culture and history to figure skating, which had previously been a realm of Western music and traditions. Your first tour, RE_PRAY, explored the ethics of video games. What can video games tell us about the world we live in?
"Programs like Seimei and Ten to Chi to represent the pride of Japan. When I create a program, I think of something only I can do. RE_PRAY was a great challenge. No one had ever explored the world of video games so intensely. It’s Japanese culture, but more importantly, it’s my culture. Megalovania, Dark Messenger, Gate of Living... In the show, which mimics a video game, the scene 'GAME OVER. Continue?' 'Yes' is repeated several times. We are in the middle of the battle: the player is destroyed, wants to stop, but continues. Obstacles, fear, choice, rules, the mission, loneliness, giving everything: they are at the core of video games and life."
You often speak of confronting the Yuzuru of nine years old. Despite everything you have been through, you have managed to stay true to yourself, to carry within you the child you once were. Today, society forces us to forget that we were once children, and, not by chance, when we grow up, we lose the creativity we had as children.
"I’ve learned a lot from the Yuzuru of nine years old, who did everything with his heart, tried with all his strength to improve, just as I always try to improve. He was so courageous, so pure. At that age, the child has not yet been swallowed by society, and while he feels its pressures, he still does not know fear: he has a dream and wants to realise it. As we grow, we learn to associate sensations with the things around us. Rain = darkness, darkness = pain. When we are children, though, rain is just rain, darkness is just darkness. Compared to the purity of children, the adult world is full of interference. Adapting to society is important. But when I skate, I have to distance myself from the adult I’ve become and return to purity. To give my best, I have to return, in part, to being a child."
After the "3.11," Gucci was very present in Sendai, helping with reconstruction through scholarships and promoting local crafts. What are the goals of your partnership?
"For me, Gucci has always represented the pride of Italian craftsmanship, the same pride I feel for my country and my skating. Just as I create with the utmost care programs that reflect the history and culture of Japan, Gucci creates clothing and accessories that tell the story and culture of Italy."

28/30 Katamari Damacy
(Previous) | (Index) | (Next)
We return to NA NAAA NANANA NA NANA NA KATAMARI DAMACYYYY
youtube
[Video description: It's the We Love Katamari soundtrack, specifically Katamari On The Swing.]
You wanna see the dumbest thing you’ve seen all movie? Of course you do. I’ll try to figure out a way it could have worked. Content warning for character death, and a monster attack that I’m mostly not showing because I’m squeamish and y’all are going to have to deal with that. Yes, I, a person who used Pink Flamingos as a cinematic comparison earlier in this series, am squeamish about a scene in Prometheus. Sometimes stuff just hits you different for no discernible reason.
Tumblr media
Vickers and her lifeboat quarters ejected separately from the Prometheus, so she's wandering around on the surface not that far from Shaw. Both of them are therefore in The Danger Zone when the Engineer ship crashes, intact and rolling along its circumference. Spare a thought for how seasick the Engineer is probably feeling right now, and for David's still-conscious head, rattling around like a coin in a washing machine.
But we only see Shaw and Vickers, as they realize what's coming, and start up run away. …Down the path of the gigantic ship.
Tumblr media
I want to emphasize, both of them do this. Do panicked people make dumb decisions? Yes. Are movie audiences predisposed to being charitable about that? No they are not, the audience expects rationality. The audience needs to be brought down to the perspective of the characters, so that irrational decisions make emotional sense.
Tumblr media
You need to make people feel the disorientation of encountering something so much larger than you that your sense of space is completely thrown off. It can be done. There's an animal fear in there, where self preservation kicks in and can steer you right or wrong. Something’s too large, or moving too fast to grapple with, or both. Jacob Geller has an excellent video essay covering this topic in video games, for instance.
For movies that do that? The one that comes to mind first is Edge of Tomorrow (2014). The beach landing scene in particular gets you into the perspective of a guy who is not supposed to be there and is completely disoriented, while remaining visually readable. It sticks close to him and his panic. The danger around him is all-encompassing, and he cannot keep track of it all. This overwhelming speed returns at points throughout the movie, leading to points in the theater where I physically leaned away from the screen, like I was in the original audience for The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat. (1895)
And somehow this manages to be tense despite the fact that the man we’re following is Tom Cruise.
youtube
[Video description: A clip of the aforementioned scene. I highly recommend Edge of Tomorrow to anyone for whom Tom Cruise isn’t a dealbreaker. In fact, you get to watch Tom Cruise die! In this very clip! It’s a tense, engaging science fiction action movie, with good bits of humor, Bill Paxton as the most unhinged Master Sergeant you’ve ever seen, and Emily Blunt plays a goddamn space marine, power armor and all. As that description may imply, I especially recommend the movie to any 40k enjoyers–it hits a similar tone. You may also find the movie listed under the title Live Die Repeat.]
But no. In Prometheus, we the audience are shown the whole thing. The entire context. And what we see is a couple of morons that seem to believe they can outrun a wheel the size of a small town.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neither of them actually think to run left or right. Shaw just trips, and then rolls to the side. The average human does not roll that fast, so it really drives home how unbelievably bad they are at this. Vickers also trips, and gets squished.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
[A clip from The Naked Gun (1988), in which a stand-off between police Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) and Vincent Ludwig (Khan Noonien Singh himself, Ricardo Montalbán) ends with Ludwig falling off the side of a stadium before being run over by a bus, a steam roller, and the USC marching band.]
This scene, obviously, does not work. I am, however, stubborn enough to try and workshop how it could have worked.
Vickers needs to be broken beneath the wheel, and to do so in a way that the audience won’t jeer at. We’ve already discussed the issues of having too wide a view of the action, so let’s table that. How could you keep that perspective, while flattening Vickers?
Tumblr media
You do have options. Maybe have Vickers do the smart thing and run off at an angle toward the sun, so she wouldn’t get any looming shadow to tell her when the ship begins falling over until it’s too late. Have her injured in the crash and unable to process what’s going on. Have her escape pod door fail to open, trapping her in the path of the ship. She was part of the corporate machinery, having petty power over others but ultimately trapped by circumstance. Make that all literal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for fuck’s sake, don’t have the entire ship fall over on Shaw a few seconds later, letting her come out okay because she was huddled near the world’s strongest rock.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the narrative blatantly plays favorites, my instinctive reaction is to resent the recipient of the movie’s favor. It feels like they're cheating.
Y'know what would’ve helped here, weirdly? Shaw thanking God for this. It would’ve theoretically been in character! The whole movie runs on christian logic anyway, so why not leave people wondering if there’s a supernatural power at work in the unbelievably fucked up universe of Alien. You’d swing back around to making people wonder what kind of loving god would allow chestbursters to happen.
But no. There is no god. Only the rock. You’re welcome.
Tumblr media
Shaw has a hole in her suit or somesuch, and thus is propelled onward toward the lifeboat, which we know contains her newly-birthed squiddo, trapped in the med-pod room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not dead. Of course it isn’t. But what makes no goddamn sense is that it’s gotten massive. Yes, I know, Alien didn’t give an explanation for the embiggening of the chestburster either, but I am willing to give Alien the benefit of the doubt, and Prometheus just showed me a woman get killed by a donut.
Tumblr media
David, possibly cognizant that Shaw is his only chance to not have to drag himself around by the lips, calls her to warn that the Engineer’s on their way to finish her off.
Tumblr media
I waffle on whether this is dumb behavior from the Engineer. I know the movie’s reason for doing this is just to have one last action beat, and an unsatisfying payoff at the end of the film.
The Engineer spared Shaw before. Maybe that was a tiny amount of sympathy for how she was getting kicked around. She’d die alone on this alien moon, sure, but it wouldn’t be their doing. But the humans got their act together enough to crash the ship. Maybe sparing her was a mistake. Even one of them might be too dangerous to let live, especially when we find out soon that there’s more ships quite close by.
Tumblr media
There was a cut bit here–I’d previously avoided showing these, but why not. The Engineer stopped and looked at the books strewn on the floor. Watched a little of Vickers’ weird screensaver wall, as it played one of the videos included in the transmission David had sent toward the moon during the journey, while everyone slept.
Ironically, most of the human material culture the Engineer gets to see is due to Vicker's disinterest in the mission, which completely failed to consider the fact that it's polite to bring gifts when you visit somebody. Her material comforts becoming the single point of cultural contact. A strange little coincidence, and a little more silent characterization for the Engineer, until David’s voice over Shaw’s radio sets everyone to murderin’.
Tumblr media
But because this movie is allergic to characterization, so we can’t have that. Instead, we are only using their reappearance to hit another horror movie cliché: the bad thing that's gotten back up again. Here, have a clip from Scream (1996), which deliberately did a send-up of the trope.
youtube
Originally there was going to be a whole fight scene here, which they took out because they felt it lessened the Engineer. But as it is, they’re still reduced to a big ol’ monster with a scary face that lumbers in and tries to kill the heroine.
Tumblr media
Want to know what’s weird? Both Alien and Aliens solve their final alien problem by opening a door. This is literally the same thing. This is their one weird trick.
Tumblr media
And frankly, I can’t look at it, because what happens squicks me out. So good job I guess, the non-consentacles got me squirming in my seat. When I’ve subjected other people to this movie, I’ve shamelessly muted and walked away for a minute. Maybe at some point I’ll figure out what limit it’s hitting there for me and Litany Against Fear it to pieces, but not right now! Facehuggers are a manageable sort of unsettling, but I do not like the bodyhugger.
Tumblr media
The screenshot hunt for this was not fun, lemme tell you.
So, yes, the last of the Engineers on this planet laid low by their own creation(s), they’re mortal after all, ironic circle of rebirth, yadda yadda, moving on.
Tumblr media
You know what, I’m actually with Shaw right now. Lying face-down and having a cry is a very understandable, human reaction to all this. Good job, movie, you got me vibing with her for about thirty seconds.
Want to see how they screw it up?

On this day in Haylor History 23 April
Sorry I am late with this post!
In 2012 Taylor posted Screaming Infidelities to Instagram, a song about infidelities, after Harry was seen kissing a girl in New Zealand. Taylor also wrote with Max Martin for Red and worked on WANGBT or IKYWT, Babe was also the same week.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2013, one year later Harry had a 9 day break between shows in Manchester and Paris. The rest of the band stayed in Europe but Harry flew to LA. Taylor also had a 5 day break between US shows and was also seen in LA. Neither was seen on the 23 April and when Harry reappeared the next day he was wearing the Peace ring he continued to wear until 2020, and has made appearances since. ... Including a series of shows in NY for his MSG residency in 2022 and the TIFF festival, Taylor was in NY and Toronto at the same time.
In 2014 - Harry and Taylor were not seen, however 2 days later his fern tattoos covering 'Might as well' were first seen.
2016 - Harry tweets Car's lyrics "it's not the ribbons in your hair" from Just what I needed - which about not minding anything because a person is who they needed.
Tumblr media
2018 - Taylor invites Robbie Williams to perform Angels with her at the Reputation Stadium Tour. Robbie Williams was a mentor for Harry on X-factor and someone he continued to mention in interviews as someone he relates to due to Robbie's career with Take That
youtube
2019 - Taylor plays the Time 100 starting with Style
2022 - Harry plays Coachella, has Lizzo as a gues, and goes to say something at the end of Boyfriends but does not.
2023 - Taylor plays Begin Again as a Surprise Song.

CBS is embracing the Piano Man.
Ahead the Super Bowl, the network announced it would stream Billy Joel’s 100th concert at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, April 14 at 9 pm ET/PT. The two hour special, titled The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden — The Greatest Run Of All Time, marks the first time a Billy Joel concert will air on a broadcast network. It will be filmed at his March 28 show, and will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
The news comes as Joel is set to end his MSG residency this July with his 150th career performance at the New York arena. His first came in late 1978, when Joel, who was touring on behalf of his 52nd Street album, headlined the venue for his first time. In early 2014, he began a monthly residency as MSG’s first “music franchise,” and has sold out every show since. He’s shrewdly changed up his set list from performance to performance, and recruited special guests like Tony Bennett, Bruce Springsteen and Olivia Rodrigo.
The final show of his residency is set for July. It will be his 104th show in the series, and his 150th performance there. “I’m kind of flabbergasted that it lasted as long as it did,” Joel said at a news conference last year. “My team tells me that we could continue to sell tickets, but 10 years, 150 shows — all right already!” All told, the record-setting residency is expected to gross more than $250 million, according to Pollstar. Joel has no plans to retire, however; in fact, he’s scheduled to criss-cross the country later this year, headlining baseball stadiums with opening acts like Stevie Nicks, Sting and Rod Stewart.
The televised concert announcement arrives a week after Joel premiered his new single, Turn the Lights Back On, live at the Grammy awards, also on CBS. The romantic ballad, produced by Freddy Wexler, was the 74-year-old singer’s first original song in 17 years. Sample line: “I’m late / But I’m here right now / And I’m trying to find the magic.” Despite prolific stage work, the last time Joel shared new music was way back in 2007, when he released the love song All My Life and protest tune, Christmas in Fallujah.
The CBS/Paramount concert special is a co-production of Sony Music Entertainment and Enliven Entertainment. Steve Cohen, Barry Ehrmann and Paul Dugdale will serve as executive producers, with Dugdale also set to direct. Sony Music Vision is the distributor. It follows other popular televised concert events, including those featuring Elton John, Adele and Taylor Swift.

NHL Outdoor Game Jersey Tier List
I originally had this idea back during the Stadium Series weekend when I was looking at the jerseys and comparing them to jerseys of outdoor games past. So I decided to put all the different jerseys NHL teams have worn for every outdoor game since 2003 onto a tier list (excluding the 4 jerseys that were worn in the 2 games at Tahoe, since each team just wore their reverse retro jersey and they weren't special jerseys for the event).
Some of these are absolutely gorgeous, and some are flops. I've organized them into tiers of how good they are, and an important factor in my rankings is creativity - whether or not something was original and distinct for the event or a copy of a current/former jersey had a significant impact on what tier it went in. And a note that I am only rating based on the jerseys themselves, and I'm not judging any accompanying pants, helmets, gloves, socks, etc. All of these ratings are scientific and 100% correct.
Tumblr media
All of these pictures were taken from the NHL Uniform Database website. This is also where I looked at each team's jersey history to see which outdoor game jerseys were just a copy of another jersey.
And a note that the Coyotes, Blue Jackets, and Panthers do not have any entries on this list since none of them have ever participated in an outdoor game. (Though this will soon change! Looking forward to seeing what the Jackets do for their Stadium Series jerseys next year. And tbh they really need to give the Yotes and Panthers an outdoor game 'cause I think those teams would make some pretty nice jerseys.)
Detailed list of which exact jerseys these are (team and event) are included under the cut for reference.
Jerseys listed from left to right as seen in the image above.

@/benwedes: What beautiful memories!
The documentary series “Wir Weltmeister. Abenteuer Fußball-WM 2014” is online! To do this, I traveled back to Brazil with an ARD team, where we became world champions in 2014 with the @/dfb_team. We were at Campo Bahia, at our old training ground and at the stadiums in Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro. You can now see the result in the ARD media library. And there is also a podcast about it in the ARD audio library: “We are world champions. Looking for 2014”. Have fun with it!

Big Time Rush – Hersheypark Stadium – Hershey, PA – July 2, 2023
In the words of Big Time Rush, “The city is ours.”
This absolutely rang true at Hersheypark Stadium last weekend, as the group took over Hershey, Pennsylvania. The foursome – including Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, Carlos Pena-Vega, and James Maslow – made an appearance in the chocolate capital of the country on their “Can’t Get Enough” Tour. “
Rushers” were excited to see their favorite band back in action after their split in 2014. The group got back together in 2021 and then went on a reunion tour, releasing several hit singles including “Not Giving You Up,” “Call It Like I See It,” “Fall,” and more.
Tumblr media
For years, fans had been unsure of when they would hear more new music or see the squad again, and the guys of Big Time Rush had good news in store. They released their newest album Another Life in June 2023, and kicked off a supporting tour of the album later that month.
We were lucky enough to attend a stop on the tour and had the time of our lives.
Tumblr media
Accompanying Big Time Rush on the tour were JAX and MAX, two incredibly talented performers, whose names rhyme, coincidentally! The first of the three performers of the night was viral sensation JAX (Jaclyn Cole Miskanic) who literally took the stage by storm. We’ve been covering JAX for years, so it was an amazing experience to see her perform in a stadium.
She kicked off her set with “90s Kids” followed by “Cinderella Snapped,” and a cover of Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag.” Among other hits, she closed out her performance with everyone’s favorite “Victoria’s Secret” while coming down from the stage to the barricade to sing with fans. This was a performance we’ll never forget.
Up next was Max Schneider, more commonly known as MAX. He got his start on Nickelodeon on the TV series How To Rock, followed by a starring role in the network’s movie Rags. Since then, MAX has gone on to tour with Victoria Justice, Fall Out Boy, Wiz Khalifa, and now Big Time Rush.
The singer started his set with a bang, singing smash hit “Love Me Less” followed by an electric performance of a mashup of “Holla” and a cover of Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” We’re not kidding when we say that everyone in Hersheypark Stadium was on their feet! MAX then went on to play “Someday,” “Lights Down Low,” “Mug Shot,” and more. Once MAX left the stage, fans knew it was time to see their favorite band.
Tumblr media
The next thing we knew, the lights went down, and the silhouettes of four familiar figures were highlighted on stage. They stood silent for a few moments, as the crowd was anything but that. The first few notes of “Can’t Get Enough” blasted over the speakers, filling the stadium, as did the screams of hundreds of fans. Big Time Rush was officially in the house!
They then played “Elevate,” “Song for You,” and more crowd-pleasing tracks. Kendall, James, Logan, and Carlos are all such talented performers. They not only hit every single note in every single song, but they make sure each member of the audience feels seen and appreciated. Their fan interactions while performing were so special to see.
Tumblr media
Next was the acoustic set, where the guys played “All Over Again,” early-career hit “Any Kind of Guy,” followed by “Ask You Tonight” from their most recent album. After the intimate acoustic section, it was time to start dancing again. The rest of their set was nothing less than electric. The group played hits new and old, including “Love Me Love Me,” “Paralyzed,” “Nothing Even Matters,” and “Worldwide.”
“Worldwide” is everyone’s favorite section of the show because the guys each select a lucky fan to sit on stage with them as they perform. Every fan’s reaction to getting selected is drastically different – from being extremely shy, to crying for the entirety of the song, to taking over the song themself and putting on a performance. This is a special thing that the guys have done since they began performing this song, and we hope they continue the tradition.
Tumblr media
After an incredible lineup of tracks including “Famous,” “Confetti Falling,” and, of course, “Big Time Rush,” it was time for the finale. The guys returned to the stage to sing “Windows Down” – where they walked through the entire stadium greeting fans – “Boyfriend,” and finally fan favorite “Til I Forget About You.”
We’ve covered Big Time Rush numerous times over the years, but this tour was by far our favorite. If you get the chance to attend the Can’t Get Enough Tour, do it! You’ll have a night you won’t forget.

NASHVILLE, TN — In a move that has already triggered global economic tremors, pop superstar Taylor Swift announced her latest album "Reputation: The Revenge of the Swifties" will be released exclusively through her own cryptocurrency, SwiftCoin, causing worldwide panic and the spontaneous formation of underground Swift-based economies. "This isn't just an album, it's a financial revolution," said Dr. Eleanor Matthews, head of the newly established Department of Swiftonomics at Harvard Business School. "We're seeing entire nations restructuring their GDP around projected Swift streams." The album, described by Swift's team as "however long it takes to destroy my enemies," requires listeners to solve a series of increasingly complex Easter eggs just to access each track. Early reports suggest the first song can only be unlocked by creating a detailed conspiracy board connecting all of Swift's ex-boyfriends to the illuminati while wearing officially licensed friendship bracelets. Major corporations have already begun adapting to the new Swift-based economy. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the introduction of mandatory "Swift Leave," allowing employees to take unlimited paid time off to decode Taylor's lyrics or camp outside stadiums. "It's either that or lose our entire workforce," Jassy explained while sporting a "Junior Jewels" t-shirt. "The Great Resignation has nothing on the Great Swiftification." The album's announcement has sent shockwaves through various sectors. Dating apps have made "Favorite Taylor Swift Era" a mandatory field, while Spotify has replaced its entire engineering team with a group of teenage Swifties who "just get it." The New York Stock Exchange has begun measuring market performance in friendship bracelets, leading to what analysts call "the most adorable economic collapse in history." Former Swift adversary Scooter Braun was last seen booking a one-way ticket to Mars, muttering something about "she was right about the karma thing." SpaceX reported a sudden surge in booking requests from male celebrities who have dated or might potentially date Swift in the future. The United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session to address the situation, only to end up designating Swifties as a sovereign nation with voting rights. "Their organizational skills and dedication to cryptic Instagram comments make them more qualified than most current member states," explained UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who recently changed his official title to "Anti-Hero in Chief." In perhaps the most stunning revelation, Swift disclosed that she has actually been controlling the global economy since 2014. "Did you really think all those Easter eggs were just for fun?" Swift said in a statement released via interpretive dance. "The entire economic system is just one big bridge leading to an even bigger bridge, followed by a key change." World leaders have unanimously agreed to transfer control of their financial systems to Swift, citing "she literally can't do worse" and "at least the friendship bracelets are pretty." The Federal Reserve has been disbanded and replaced with a council of Swift's cats. Citizens are reminded that resistance is futile and that mandatory friendship bracelet-wearing will be enforced starting midnight. Those who fail to comply will be subjected to "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" on an infinite loop while watching Jake Gyllenhaal's "Bubble Boy" on repeat. At press time, Swift was reportedly working on a deluxe version of the album that would require listeners to solve world peace, end climate change, and explain what really happened in the "All Too Well" short film's third timeline, all while maintaining a perfectly crafted Instagram aesthetic. [Author's Note: This article was written under the supervision of the Department of Swiftie Security and approved by the Committee for Cardigan Integrity.]

[ad_1] Yere Goud, head coach of Karnataka (PC: KSCA) Bharath Ramaraj in Bengaluru There are those old old Dinah Maria Craik lines that go: “Autumn to winter, winter into spring, spring into summer, summer into fall – so rolls the changing years, and so we change.” Somewhere this quote applies to the present Karnataka Ranji Trophy side. Due to a variety of reasons, the think tank have had to usher in young players this season. So, what does Yere Goud, in his second stint as head coach, say about the state’s rebuilding phase? “See, S Sharath was the wicketkeeper last season, he has moved out,” he told RevSportz. “S Sujay has taken his place. Samarth has also left, Devdutt (Padikkal) has gone for the India A tour, so there is an opportunity for some of the batters. Since we needed quick runs in a rain-curtailed game, we brought in Abhinav Manohar. Yes, it is a transition phase. But everybody is mature enough, and we are not complaining about it.” To add to Karnataka’s woes, Prasidh Krishna is also with the India squad Down Under. Meanwhile, the experienced pacer Vidwath Kaverappa has been laid low by an injury, while Vijaykumar Vyshak is with the Indian set-up for the T20I series against South Africa. Even in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game versus Bengal, Nikin Jose suffered a cut on his forehead while fielding and was replaced by a concussion substitute. There is one more external factor that has acted as a hurdle, the weather, resulting in truncated games versus Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. Karnataka bounced back with a convincing victory over Bihar and currently sit third in their group. “There have been many challenges this season,” said Goud. “One is in terms of the weather, the second is injuries. “Vidwath (Kaverappa) is injured. But whatever we have played this season, there is a sense of positivity in terms of how the team is progressing. Probably from here on, every game is a knockout game for us. We have to do well in the remaining four games if we have to qualify for the semi-finals.” Goud also explained in brief about Kaverappa’s injury. “He has had a shin injury,” he said. “He is with the National Cricket Academy, they are looking after him. Once we get the clearance, we will see.” Over the last decade, history has also not been kind to Karnataka as far as India’s premier first-class competition is concerned. The state has qualified for either the quarterfinals or semi-finals seven times since winning the Ranji Trophy in 2014-15, but they haven’t been able to climb a few more steps of the ladder in order to taste success. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Karnataka vs Bengal, Ranji Trophy at the Chinnaswamy Stadium (PC: Bharat Ramaraj) Goud, who was previously at the helm of affairs from 2018 to 2022, observed, “See, qualifying is also not easy, every team is looking to win the Ranji Trophy. We have come to the knockouts almost every season. When I was the coach (earlier), we probably lost in the semifinals twice. “Qualifying from the group is always tough. A lot of changes have happened in the last 10 years in terms of the batting unit, a new set of bowlers. The first priority is to qualify. Moving forward, we will see what best we can do this season.” On the brighter side, Karnataka’s age-group teams have been doing well. One of those junior sides – Karnataka Under-23s – emerged triumphant in the CK Nayudu Trophy under the tutelage of Goud. Even in the Maharaja T20 Trophy this year, we witnessed Karnataka’s strength in depth in the junior ranks. “A lot of credit has to go to the boys, the way they performed,” said Goud. “A lot of players from Under-23 have moved in – Aneesh has come into the side as has Smaran. “The Under-19s have won the Cooch Behar trophy, which is also a very good achievement. Karnataka had never won the Under-19 trophy before. That shows the strength of junior cricket. We have a lot of junior cricketers who in 1 or 2 years would (make the) transition to the senior team. That is a good sign for Karnataka.”
Goud, who played for Railways and Karnataka, had an illustrious first-class career. During his time, he played a major role in powering Railways to a couple of Ranji Trophy titles (2001-02 and 2004-05), alongside other domestic tournaments. He was renowned for his ability to lift his game under pressure. Who can forget his 190 out of a total of 356 against Uttar Pradesh in the 2001-02 Ranji Trophy or his 138 in the 2004-05 Ranji final, where he shepherded the tail? When Goud hung up his boots in 2012, Javagal Srinath called him the “Rahul Dravid of the Railways team,” while Anil Kumble remembered an anecdote from the time he was Karnataka’s skipper. “Even as captain, he would stand at silly point and short leg, though many people have a temptation to put a junior cricketer in that position,” said Kumble. In Goud, Karnataka certainly have a mentor who has the quality to chisel out the right path for youngsters, and lay the foundation for the state to hoist the coveted Ranji Trophy again in the near future.
