Regina "Once Upon A Time" Headcanon (AU)
(what end SHOULD have been)
Regina when all was said and done , her happy ending, she became a stable owner because of her love for horses somewhere near the edge of the kingdom of King Charming Queen Snow and Prince Neal and Princess Emma.
She married Robin and they have a son and daughter together. ❤️
and wears stuff like this:
(the ouat ending made NO sense, can even conceptualize Regina WANTNG to be royalty even after her mother death. she was always happiest with her horses despite being groomed for royalty. Not to mention snow and charming are wonderful leaders and never wanted a "simple life" regina is the one that would want that. and I wish they gave her more color from her evil queen persona, Lana is the more dark colors and rock and roll type, not regina. if the writing went where it was supposed to go , we would hav e seen her in clothe much more softer and with nature/earthy colors. but they jacked up the writing after s3....so only in my dreams I guess. ugh. disney is lame lame.lame.lame. LAME!)

Wait wait, what the Loz sibling manga?
oh god i want to say it was one of the early NES promo mangas. iirc it was by mishouzaki?? it was legitimately batshit insane. they obviously hadnt figured out like. ANY lore whatsoever at that point and im not entirely sure that mishouzaki ever actually. played the game. or even read the manual. so the triforce functioned as like. a typical 80s manga space-weapon almost and zelda wore like a mech suit at one point and link experienced actual in-universe racism multiple times and at the end of the manga it's revealed that link and zelda are half-siblings because zelda's mother CHEATED ON HER HUSBAND
#'my daddy just HATES elves so he can never know that we're together' --zelda's mother in that manga genuinely for real#WHILE ACTIVELY MARRIED TO ANOTHER HUMAN MAN. BTW#link also got like kicked out of a hotel at one point for being a racial minority and then the daughter of the hotel owner like.#virgin mary-ed him and was like well you can sleep in. our stable. with the horses.#and anyway. link's dad/queen zelda's elven bootycall was named rune in the prologue of that and i liked it. so#i dont. remember where i read it actually because it's DEFINITELY never been officially translated#but it was definitely a part of the obscure zelda media research kick i got on like 1.5 years ago for the purposes of a slideshow#that ended up being over 2 hours long. it was one of the crazier manga that i found but i still think quark topp has gotta be the best#asks#update: i just googled this and the zelda wiki describes it as 'a manga following the original the legend of zelda storyline.'#which. may i be the first to say. no the fuck it does not#that manga is legend of zelda in that there are characters named link and zelda in it. it doesnt even PRETEND to follow the game plot

Assumption: You have never ridden a horse.
Oooo, this is a fun one, salkfjas
I have! I've ridden more than one horse, more than once.
(Actual storytime) (This is from the Assumptions meme!)
In late highschool and in the few years after I had a close friend who owned a horse (Billy) and agisted him, and was responsible for him. She basically was allowed to get him when she got her driver's license.
I was the kind of friend (and still kind of am, energy willing) that you could drag around to all your chores and I'd just be there. So I'd be there when she went shopping. I would be there when she went to get horse food. I would be there when she did homework. I would be there when she went to visit her horse and brush him down and feed him etc.
I helped with basic chores and watched from the sidelines and mostly hung out with her dog, Huskee, who was not a husky, but a borderline collie x corgi who barked nonstop at that horse, who she alas, could not herd.
Through this friend I actually learned about Natural Horsemanship, to the point where I actually went to a couple of Pat Parelli seminars (run by Pat) in like 2000/2001. It was the thing that really sparked my interest in animal training, especially humane, fear free animal training (and clicker training specifically, since Pat was teaching marker training at the time, and said friend started using it on their dog, Huskee).
I never rode, for a long time, because I was happy on the sidelines, and also I went there so my friend could ride her horse, not so I could like, steal her horse out from under her lol. I don't think her horse liked me very much anyway (later I'd find out that was pretty much true, it was a zero respect relationship, maybe he knew I was a doormat lmao).
Anyway, said friend had another friend who was extremely horse intense, and she got her own horse (Coda) , that she then never really took the time to ride. Coda was kind of nuts. Billy was the kind of horse who walked so slow you felt like you were going backwards, Coda had one speed: gallop. Coda and Billy got on great.
But Coda was pretty neglected, and so I often spent time with him while my friend did her chores with Billy. I was used to bringing out food, or changing water etc. so I did that for Coda sometimes. And after a while, friend was like 'it would be cool if we could trail ride together, how about you learn on Billy first since he's so slow and sedate.' And friend was like 'I'll ride Coda because I have more experience.' This made sense! She wanted me to stay safe!! But...
Billy was slow, sedate, and did not give a shit about me. This is a horse that stepped on my feet (on purpose), who deliberately angled towards low-hanging branches to scrape me off the saddle (hilarious, but also not really), and made it clear how much he wasn't interested in anyone else riding him in the most passive aggressive way a horse possibly can.
Coda, on the other hand, had a reputation for being wild and unstable. He'd tossed multiple riders more than once, hadn't been trained with Natural Horsemanship (like...kind of? But not really) and was not halter-broke by the time friend-of-friend got him, so just getting him to accept a halter and a saddle at all was huge, and anything beyond that was like 'welp, good luck.'
However, it was obvious trying to do anything with me and Billy was not going to work out. So...Coda it was.
And idk how to explain it, but Coda and I just got along. It was on the other hand terrifying, because his default movement was 'canter' and all he wanted to do, all he wanted to do, was gallop up and down granite hills as quickly as possible and spook at fucking everything. It wasn't his fault, he wasn't taken out much and he had that kind of personality. He once saw a kangaroo in the distance and spun a full 360 degrees, and I ended up half off him, hanging on for dear life, while friend just stared at me and said: 'how did you not fall off, that was insane. You might actually be good at this.'
Well. No, I wasn't, I just had a good grip, lmao.
So we went on extremely stressful trail rides together. Billy thankfully curbed some of Coda's GOTTA GO FAST instincts but only to a point, so I had to be pretty hypervigilant nonstop because that dude bunched his hindquarters what felt like every ten seconds, and I can't really blame him, it's what he loved to do most. He was just a terrible horse to learn to ride on, lmao, even if we did get along.
I haven't ridden since and honestly haven't felt much of an inclination to. I'd be too heavy now anyway. And I'm pretty certain I'd be bad at it. When your first experience is 'placid horse who generally accepts everyone but stares at you in a desultory manner and makes sure you know - while feeding him / brushing him / watering him etc. - that you do not matter in the grand scheme of things' followed by 'I like you! NOW I WILL FLING MYSELF DOWN THIS GRANITE HILL WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WE ARE ALL SCREAMING IN EXCITEMENT AND NOT FEAR' you think 'actually I don't need to ride the murder ponies, it's fine.'
Anyway, yeah, I have ridden a horse.
#asks and answers#personal#things i learned in short order is that i don't like most horse people#they are some of the most opinionated folks (in a not good way) i've ever met#horses are expensive#they're pretty easy to clicker train#horses have very clear ways of letting you know they don't like you#that aren't violent outright but still can cause harm#Connemara mares are really nice (not mine or friend's horse)#(but pony of owner of stables where we agisted)#Pat Parelli is cool and he was very patient with me#and a little bewildered as to why i was at his ticketed seminars#(my friend paid for me to go so she could have some company)#when i had no horse and didn't want to ride one but asked polite questions#and when he saw me the second time he was like 'u have a horse yet'#and i was like 'no sir i do not'#he was nice to me anyway#i lived a lot of life in a very short period of time when i was younger sdalfkjasd

Thinking about how Eunho’s few moments of real vulnerability and honesty with another person – when he allows himself to be anything other than entirely pleasant – have all come in Jiyun’s presence
#love scout#in the two times he expressed his worries to other characters (his colleague in his former company and suhyeon)#he uses sweets as a way to eat his emotions so he can maintain a certain calmness despite his anxiety#he expressed his frustration to jiyun in ep 1 re: headhunting#reveals to her that he was orphaned#tells her about his anxieties as a single father#when even the bookstore owner whom Eunho is supposed to be close to doesn’t know why he got divorced#eunho has always had to be the pillar of strength and diminish himself to serve others#but as much of a mess that jiyun can be#she has this very defined and stable core as a Professional Woman#which also translates into how she interacts with and supports byeol independent of eunho#eunho is her caretaker but he is discovering he can lean on her too#idk I’m just thinking about the question of what she offers him in a relationship on top of the mutual attraction

#thinking of dinosaurs and troodontids were my favorite dinosaurs as a child#when younger i had a real full troodontid tooth fossil that meant a lot to me#for a time we lived within a few kilometers of hadrosaur sites and troodontid sites#while wider general area had many sites of recovery for the big celebrities like tyrannosaur and multiple dromaeosaurs#at that time troodontids were kinda infamous for i think the depiction in some childrens field guides and dino books#which depicted like a fantasy speculative humanoid troodontid based on 1980s model at Canadian Museum of Nature in ottawa#anyway would visit a small local paleo center a lot and woman in her 70s or 80s ran the counter of their center and rock shop#one day she asked me what my fave dino was and i said troodon so she pulled out the tooth and just gifted it to me#in little black case size of ring box with padding and transparent plastic viewing cover kinda like laminate for displaying a trading card#tooth got stolen from out my vehicle while giving some people a ride while at university before i got too poor for tuition#later during first year of pandemic owner of my storage unit died and new property owners threw away everything i ever owned#i was homeless anyway lost job due to early pandemic closures and had to allocate any money to insulin and other prescrip meds#but wouldve found a way to save my things if the new owners had contacted me#they threw out photoalbums y backpacking gear y books y musical instruments y clothes y artwork y camera y all family keepsakes#and all childhood treasures like souvenirs and gifts and school awards and writing portfolios and all the little memories#which i was always sentimental about as child#from earliest age my room looked like a natural history museum with plants and maps and library of field guides#and rocks and field trip keepsakes and all kinds of little animal figurines and mother had painted room in forest greens and browns#to feel like a forest and among the succulent plants and a globe sat the troodon tooth#parents passed when i was a child#never near any family and were always moving never got to settle into proper stable place then father passed after long sad illness#and mother put in so much effort but she passed few years later and i could not take care of myself or my remaining material possessions#and so im still quite hurt having nothing whatsoever remaining of my childhood or school friends or mother or life generally#and when trying to process grief my thoughts often come back to the troodontid tooth as a focal point a distillation of what was lost#even when young i knew it was advised not to become too connected to material physical possessions#but still there are some small little trinkets in our lives that seem to hold so much meaning and i tortured myself for losing that tooth#thinking about troodon reminds me of childhood

just offering my 2 cents here but I think at the very least taking the dispensary job would be good experience? like even if it's a little lopsided I think it could be a good addition to a resume, regardless of how well the actual job turns out
hi!! im so sorry i didnt reply to this yesterday but thank you, I really appreciate you offering your thoughts and yeah honestly thats kimd of exactly what I was thinking too like...even if it doesnt turn out perfect, id be a) saving money on transport and b) getting some good experience which would help so much for other potential jobs in the same field. Like even if this dispensary doesnt work at least I can say I have experience working in one now which would help sooooo much for getting ither dispensaries to look at me :)
#anonymous#thank you for reaching out it helps a lot to talk it out with people and hear from you....irl i dont really have anyone but ben to talk to#abt it and hes not really fond of the idea but like man. things are stable for now at the pet store vut i really believe thats a temporary#thing. unless the owner changed its not going to get any better at this point#and its not really a job i care about either i just got lucky with the hours#but even then honestly she barely gives me that. there was a month where i got part time hours. it was rough

Does anyone have any success stories about leaving a stable job in your 30s and finding something better?
#I had the same job from the time I was 21 years old but we had a buyout and the new owners were (and are) toxic as hell#they wouldn't even meet my existing pay and benefits and the gaslighting was off the charts#after trying to stick it out for 4-5 months I finally had to walk away#The job I attempted after that I lasted 2 months before also having to walk away due to conflicting management styles#and poor inner office communication#And it's only been... 3 business days since then#but I am teetering between “the world is your oyster” & “you idiot you'll never be stable again"#the short term solution is that I should go to sleep because late night makes for anxiety bedfellows#but I think I may develop a stomach ulcer#or some other such stress related malady

ohhhh i want a cat so baddddd I've never gone this long without a cat in my living space. what happened to mrrow?? mrrrroow?
#it's just not financially feasible bc I'd have to pay a 300 dollar per deposit for it and I'd have to pay the adoption fee#and yeah there's plenty of strays around here but I can't afford the vet checks to take one in#the local pet stores sell cats that have already had all that that come in from a nearby rescue#and the adoption fee for them would be way cheaper than the vet costs#plus sometimes they will help you reprogram a microchip if the cat has one and the original owner surrendered it#maybe soon i gotta see where i stand on bills first but i have to remember I'd also have to buy all the stuff to take care of a cat#which is also expensive#i think im going to start gradually collecting cat supplies for now and then when spring fafsa money comes in I'll be able to go get one#but goddd i wish i was financially stable i want a kittyyyyy#im already having to keep an eye on my dog though cause she's getting older and i honestly can't afford regular vet visits for her#so I can't get another animal yet anyway#i need to get pet insurance for my dog tbh

GOD my heart aches every time I see the black Dartmoor
#it looks so much like my heart horse that never was (except the Dartmoor is missing a little white marking he had)#he was at the barn where a family member had their horse. a little too poorly cared for... he refused to be rideable (past abuse probably)#and they just didnt bother with him much. he was so so so pretty but his mane was always tangled and hooves out of form and stuff#whenever I came along I'd spend the whole time there just caring for him. brushing out the tangles. braiding his mane. oiling his hooves.#(just braiding the mane could take 20-30 minutes. it was so long and beautiful)#i brought him along for hacks in a halter and lead rope whenever i could. the lazy fuck (affectionate) REFUSED to go faster than a walk#but I am also a lazy fuck so it fit me pretty well tbh#in the beginning he was really tentative towards me and the stable owner had to help me go get him. but eventually he started coming to me#wasn't much of a cuddly type but you know in your heart when a horse enjoys your company don't you#my life got in the way too much because I was in high school commuting 90 minutes one way#but. sigh. what we could've had if I wasn't so freaking busy all the time :(#I'm not even sure he's alive anymore. I think it's been four years since my family member moved their horse and his fur was graying then#wasn't a dartmoor though#papers claimed him as a dole horse but his papers were untrustworthy loll. he looked more like a fell or maybe dales pony#z talks
