In deep crushing stage how would the RO’s react to seeing the MC with a hickey?

Kieran: (refuses to acknowledge they are jealous to themselves or anyone else—in denial, babeyyy) I know I told you I care not if you wish to entertain any dalliances or outside partnerships, but I believe I reminded you to keep them discreet—for now—given the delicate nature of this arrangement. This is not discreet.

Nihm: (oblivious) You have a bruise right there. Did you get hurt? Come, come, I can take you to the infirmary. No need to be shy about it. (realization does not strike until much later) *head in hands* oh my gods.

Lilith/Lucien: (jealous meter has been cranked to the max) What? No fair. Who gave you that? Names, please. Can I watch next time? Can I give you one? Can I—

Samira: (to herself) Who. The. Fu—no….it’s not my business….

Aurynn: Hm. 6/10. I could give you a better one. Right now, even. Shall we? (please)

how would the ROs react to an MC that one day maybe got a little emotional during ‘the act’ and ended up teary-eyed and repeatedly saying ‘I love you…’ ?

Kieran: stunned into silence by the sincerity of it and by the way mc looks at them. They don’t think they’ve ever heard those words spoken to them before—not from anyone. Surely this must be some scene from one of their novels? Would need to reach out and touch mc to remind themselves this is real before they could say it back.

Aurynn: shellshocked and disoriented—it’s hard to believe this is directed at him, or as much as he wants it to be, that it should be directed at him. Any insufferable confidence he had going in has vanished, replaced with uncharacteristic shyness and vulnerability.

Samira: any shock/embarrassment/insecurity would be swallowed upon seeing mc so vulnerable and she would take on a more confident and soft and comforting role, pulling mc closer and saying it back.

Lilith/Lucien: worried at first something is wrong or mc is hurt when they notice mc is crying. Takes a moment for the words to sink in but when they do they fall uncomfortably quiet and turn away to hide their face. Don’t look at them—the blood definitely did not all go to their head and no, shut up, they do NOT have a nosebleed.

Nihm: uh oh mc is crying and now they’re crying—why are we crying?? Takes a moment to realize what mc is saying. It sounds so lovely they need to say it too. Again and again and again and again... Fluttering with excitement the rest of the day.

Kieran: (whereas before they had only been embarrassed enough to blanch, now they’ve gone past that and started to flush red) >:/ “….Now you’re simply toying with me.”

Nihm: (takes a long moment for mcs words to sink in and as soon as they do Nihm chokes on nothing and turns bright red) “I—you—what? S-sorry I forgot I needed to….do something….away from here….i-if you’ll excuse me, Your Highness!”

Lilith/Lucien: *decisive narrowing of eyes and a small hungry smirk, then immediately pivots on heel and strides away, pausing as they reach the end of the hall to crook a finger at mc to beckon them to follow, coattails trailing behind them as they disappear round the corner*

Samira: *narrows eyes* “Oh, well I’m so glad you’re feeling well enough to make jokes, Your Highness. Now, if you’re quite finished, I could use really use your help with something. You’ve always been the reliable sort so I know you won’t let me down. >:) You’ll be so kind, won’t you?” (ropes mc into playing guinea pig for her latest tonics to punish them for the freaking Audacity™️)

Aurynn: (was only playing at thinly veiled desperation to goad mc into this exact situation and now he immediately reverses his tune—infuriating mc is one of his favorite things after all) *leans in close to MCs neck as though he is going to do it only to condescendingly pat their cheek and murmur:* “5/10 on the delivery. Next time, a little more wanton desperation in your tone, hm? Beg like you mean it.” *walks away*

Trying to imagine which magic path would be scarier to see a angry mc with. I feel like a mc with gravity manipulation who is fucking pissed would be scary as hell

Oh, definitely. Mc with gravity has a move I like to call black hole in their arsenal. It’s not pretty.

I already have plans for future scenes where mc can go too far with their magic in their own anger. Fire and gravity are obviously going to get…messy. And depending on the character you’re with, it can have some other consequences. (sorry L)

Illusion and healing are more subtle though, so I’ll have to think on how an mc losing it would look like with those. I could see an mc with illusion magic fucking with someone’s head pretty hardcore with some nightmarish illusions. 🤔 And I feel like it’d be interesting to see an mc use healing magic in ways it is…not intended for. To the horror even of themselves.

I have had this one interaction bouncing around in my head though for after one of such scenarios:

“Oh my gods,” you cry, clapping your hands to your mouth in horror. “…Do you think he’ll be alright?” You aren’t quite sure what compels you to ask. The man is clearly dead—a charred, smoking corpse lying blackened on the ground, and if by some cruel twist of Fate he is still alive you are certain he wishes he wasn’t. L’s head snaps up as they turn to look at you, blinking as if they cannot figure out if you are being serious or not. “Babe, you CREMATED that man,” they say, gesturing at the crumbling charcoal-colored corpse. “I don’t think he’ll be walking that one off.”

This is late but in a Modern AU how would the ROs treat the MC or like to be treated on Valentine’s Day?

Kieran: Takes mc out sailing and they have a sunset picnic over the water and then they get caught in the rain and have to maroon themselves on a small island to find shelter and get creative to stay warm just like in their novels

Nihm: Would want to surprise mc with a handmade craft as a gift, like a little windchime or something. Would also enjoy going on a cute date activity with mc like going to a butterfly garden or teaching mc to ice skate and then falling over on top of each other 😳

Lilith/Lucien: They arrange a bouquet tailored to mc down to the color and meaning of every flower. Then they go out with mc to a nice dinner and eavesdrop on all the couples having relationship troubles/breaking up because L is a gossip-whore and then afterwards they both scale the highest city rooftop together and stay up all night talking (or more) with only the stars as their witness.

Samira: She and mc stroll through a botanical garden and then spend the evening in cooking each other’s favorite foods together for dinner with food from their garden. She would enjoy putting in effort into a meal and dessert for mc to enjoy.

Aurynn: He would go along with whatever mc prefers but if he had a say he’d actually prefer something more quiet and relaxed—probably like an evening on the beach just the two of them. Complete with enough pastries to get stuffed in more ways than one

That last ask made me think, if Parim were still around somehow what would be his opinion on each of the ROs for his baby sibling? What would be his ranking from most to least favourite?

He wouldn’t really be the type to rank them as such, as he trusts that if MC chose to marry that person, they love/trust them and his primary concern is that MC will be happy and secure in their marriage. Marriages in Theia, even between nobles, prioritize emotional compatibility/attraction whenever possible after all. His scrutiny of each RO would be carried out very subtly and cordially. I’ll answer more based on early(ish) impressions 🤔—at least those he would voice aloud with MC.

Kieran: “I’d have thought certainly you’d be spitting feathers over such a match, but…I suppose there was never anything to worry about. Do they make your heart sing? I thought so—it’s all in your eyes, lovebird. What? I should think some amount of teasing was to be inevitable here. Though—if it makes you feel any better—I’d have said the same about your Lunar Prince/ss. It is quite obvious in the way they look at you.”

Nihm: “Well, now that’s a lark. I saw it coming, I suppose. The little thing never stops talking about you. Nor the scarabs in the garden. Be careful you don’t let them catch sight of Ember’s jewel scarab—the poor thing might die of excitement before you’ve even a chance to marry them.”

Lilith/Lucien: "A bit of an odd bird, to be sure, but the two of you seem to...click, strangely enough. I dare say you’ve got them wrapped around your little finger. Ah—but, how best to phrase this? Are you sure they're, ah..." (gestures vaguely to his head) "...entirely in fine feather?"

Samira: “She has always seemed a tempering presence for you. Plus, she seems to have perfected moving you even when you are being most willfully obstinate. It’s like you’re already married. Do you care for her, then? Then do not worry over the difference in station. I shall handle convincing Father. Leave it to me, little bird.”

Aurynn: “…Oh? No, you’re right, I apologize—it’s not amusing in the slightest. Nor should I be surprised, I suppose. He does, after all, have a reputation for charming the birds off trees, does he not? Now, now—I didn’t mean to ruffle any feathers, little bird. It was only an observation. But I’m sorry, I shouldn’t tease. So…what was it that inevitably spurred you from your branch?”

Samira: she’s good 👍🏽 she worked her surrogate mother’s apothecary growing up so she’s used to it

Nihm: fine if it’s quiet and slow but as soon as there’s a rush they get overstimulated/overwhelmed and start to shut down and internally panic 0_o

Kieran: :/ they’ll adapt to it as they do everything but they’d really rather not as they are introverted and stoic and Customer Service Voice ™️ does not come naturally to them

Lilith/Lucien: fired immediately after a customer reaches across the register to point at the menu and L just full force no hesitation bites down on their finger

Aurynn: just kill him

My little herding dog,” she croons, reaching out to squeeze Lilith’s chin, giving it a little shake. “Woof.”

How well would the ROs do with taking care of a sick MC

I'll answer assuming this is post-relationship

Kieran: attempts to get out of every duty they can comfortably put off and with the ones they can't, they attempt to hurry through their tasks with a single-minded sense of focus and good work ethic so they can focus most of their time on mc. Sends someone to check in on mc while Kieran is working--though not excessively--and report back to Kieran how mc is doing. Feels rather guilty on the days they are pulled away all day by duties, and when they return exhausted late at night when mc is asleep, they sit quietly on the edge of their bed so as not to wake them and simply watch mc for a while, caressing their cheek before they have to leave. Adamant about arranging a day just for the two of them to make up for it.

Aurynn: Shit at taking care of himself, so doesn't really know what to do as his own go-to strategy for dealing with most injuries/ailments is to avoid the doctor like the plague. Might start out hovering annoyingly about and getting in the way--kinda like a dog that wants to help but the task requires zero dogs--until he is inevitably told off. Would defer to a healer like Samira to advise him on caring for mc and would just do/fetch whatever mc asked of him. Acts as an excellent if overeager distraction, and would have to be unceremoniously kicked out of bed to the floor after trying to climb in with a contagious mc.

Samira: She's well-versed in this and knows exactly what to do, and can intuit what mc needs/wants without them having to say it. She's there for whatever mc needs--meals, medicine, company, you name it. She's gentle and patient so long as mc follows her advice, but she won't tolerate an overly stubborn patient. If mc tries to avoid proper rest and recuperation, trust her to find a way to make mc listen.

Lilith/Lucien: gets sick too. like a fukcign idiot 👇

Nihm: Checks on mc often and does whatever they can to make sure they are comfortable. Would worry unnecessarily and probably find excuses to briefly duck out of their regular duties to pop in and make sure mc is okay and see if they need anything. Sometimes excessively. Makes them lots of yummy soups and stays over at night doing whatever it is that would best help mc, whether that's simply being quiet and alone together or infodumping on bugs to distract mc.
