(SPOILERS) one reason i continue to trust su more than any other show is that they treat their characters with such responsibility. jasper’s death was never the cliffhanger, or the teaser, or the focal point of the episode. su focuses on the CONSEQUENCES of her dying and coming back. much like lars’s head, it doesn’t emotionally bait us with a cliffhanger death. it lets us grapple with the consequences.

i think i felt about this the way many felt about the “steven proposing to connie” leak. at first really really worried that they were gonna mess up on either a character or thematic level, but once i actually saw it, i was like “oh duh, this is steven universe, of course it’s good and handled in a way that makes sense”.

It was so wild because all the other people were all ‘this is normal’ and then there’s me having an internal existential crisis because what if it’s me who’s wrong? What if I do live in a world where religious people are right and I’m actually ignorant and by extension damned? And this isn’t like because I had the fear of God put into me when I was young or anything like that. My parents were not at all religious. It was more like I for a few minutes entered a parallel world where there was a God and I was unfortunately the hard ground and there was nothing I could do about it

in my early twenties I was part of this religious program where we would meet twice a week.  I think the program was about people who were struggling with their faith and it was supposed to help guide you back to it if you were in doubt.  I wasn’t religious but my mom told me to go to church because she thought it would make me a better person (just me by myself, my mom and sisters did not go)

the second time I did it I went on the retreat they did at the end where we went to some cabin in a forest and on one of the days we all sat in a circle holding hands and I think we were supposed to be asking God to forgive our sins

I was sitting there not able to think of anything I felt I needed or wanted to be forgiven for and one lady on my right started having this profoundly religious experience that was so raw and visceral I actually found it scary

I don’t believe there is a god but I couldn’t definitively say there wasn’t one after that

Nope, this was right we were explicitly told that the Ood were slaves and that one of the reasons they were there was to “fuel the empire”. So the Doctor is basically hugging an imperialist slave owner and telling them they’re great.

I agree with @ssspinel​ in the replies. I don’t think Diamonds are created the same way Gems are. I don’t even necessarily consider the Diamonds to be Gems. Rather they’re the creators of Gemkind, they essentially created a subspecies based on themselves to serve them. 

The artbook timeline seems to suggest all four Diamonds came to be at the same time from some cosmic event. Although some people do interpret Pink’s drawing in Familiar as her coming later, which would also make sense given she was treated as a child by the others.

But in the end the Diamonds are god-like compared to everyone else. I don’t think you could just replicate Pink. 

I've always wondered why the Diamonds couldn't just create "another" Pink. It'd be a perfect replica of her, 100% identical looks and personality, just without her memories, a blank slate. So in a way it'd be her but also, not. Kinda like sheep/dog cloning. I do not see how they couldn't achieve this given their advanced technology, Diamond magic and all, no?

Pink was like... a family member to them. Would you clone a dead relative?... thats creepy on so many levels to everyone involved. The Diamonds used to treat their subjects as replaceable and disposable (see the whole Pink Pearl debacle), but they DO NOT treat each other that way. That's the bridge they needed to cross to start being decent people- realizing other gems and species have the same value as them, and arent just tools or lesser beings. Thats why Steven even thought it was possible- the way the Diamonds treated each other showed theyre clearly capable of love, they were never a lost case.

Thanks!!  I probably should write more like this, but Chell barely has a canon personality so I find her kind of hard to work with.  We all know my usual goal is to play GLaDOS off every person in existence, but coming up with a personality and reasoning and dynamic for Chell and GLaDOS is less compelling for me than GLaDOS and... anybody else
