I dont remember what it said.
But didnt Ediths journal/diary say something that she found away to join the nature and wont be back?
So it suggest she choose and wanted this.
I had the thought that the stag was Edith. Even though it has horns and I think mc said "follow him". Maybe the gender doesnt matter?
On a related note:
One of the ghost you could talk to under halloween event 2018 and 2019, said she was a wildwhiperer, but wanted to know why Gallopers mare wouldnt talked to her.
She went to the primeval tree in southhoof, who turned the girl into wood.
But that girl died, so she didnt become Lignos?
they called the stag thing a lignos or something like that right?? didn’t Elizabeth and Rhiannon mention something like that??? I remember them saying that lignos are humans that the primeval trees have turned into their servants

Jorvik Reimagined - The Redwood Wilderness
"'It can seem like the forest has a hundred eyes staring right at you.' Or perhaps simply one pair of seemingly blind eyes that pierce through to the soul with the haunting weight of the forest itself."
I always felt this area has a more Studio Ghibli feel than most, especially the Lignos itself. Hopefully I managed to achieve a nice balance of Redwood's appearance with Ghibli's atmosphere. Also if you look closely, there's tiny hints of vines and such trailing around the Lignos' legs.
Featured rider is @sso-noodlelord 's Allison riding Anselmo!

I see the worry a lot of “what will happen to SSO when we finish the story!”
Well, if I remember correctly, (and I do remember correctly b/c I used the dialog verbatim in my fanfic) is that Pandoria is not the ONLY realm through the portals. We got chided by Evergray for thinking it.
Two, in order to finish this Garnok arc of the story, they have to actually give us story. We’ve saved Lisa, Justin, and Anne in 10 years. We’re still missing 2 of the 4 parts of the Light Ceremony book (2 parts were way too easy) and well, Jon Jarl still has 2 sections of his tomb to open and well, we actually have no idea what G.E.D./Dark Core is actually up to outside of “free Garnok.” Well, how is a great question! They’ve added in talking horses and the lignos and nothing with it.
Maybe Fripp will help us when he.. .wakes up.
Anyways, as a professional author, there isn’t really a limit to the stories we can tell if we use our imaginations. Hey, maybe after Garnok we can cure Anne and Evergray’s pandoria sickness (or we’ll do that during.) Help out Ydris. There’s plenty to do. They don’t have to hold back on story to drag things out. There’s so much they could do in their half finished opened map already to at least GIVE us something to do. The Storm Garden, refurbishing Jarlaheim, the racetrack at the Manor, Steve’s missing cat, blah blah the Hightowers, Fort Maria, Buttergoods vs Winterwells, fix Pi’s swamp, Old Hillcrest... I could go on. Plus 5/6 of a map to open. (Story should not depend on map opening either.)
I want what I paid for at the very least, a complete map with the story of how 5 girls defeat Garnok. I might just end up writing it myself to get it.

Ok so last night I did a point-thingy with sso wild herd pros and cons if irl me would live there.
So uhhh... here it is (keep in mind that I have sensory issues so that’ll affect it. Also some things will be my own interpretation of the herds)
Warriors
+3 for aesthetics
+2 for Rocco
+1 for that nameless foal
+1 for the masks
+1 for being able to find onyx around there
-1 for pot smashing
-2 for drumming ceremonies
-3 for not having a proper shelter for me to sleep? I’m not sleeping under a rock ledge, no ma’am
-1 for dust
-2 for needing to have stamina
-1 for competitiveness
-3 because where do they get food and water?
Final score: -5/10
Mystics
+5 for aesthetics
+5 for Willow
+1 for that squirrel foal
+1 for the pretty butterflies
+1 for low social expectations
+1 for the meditator I hope he knows I love him
-1 for the windchimes
-1 for the incense
-2 for being in danger of Pandoric corruption
-3 because you just know there are a lot of musquitos at Wise Withers lake
-2 for having cult vibes
Final score: 5/10
Foresters
+5 for aesthetics
+2 for Sapling and Sprout
+1 for having a spa
+1 for having the least amount of sensory-hell-items out of all the herds
+1 for actually having huts
+1 for Juniper
+1 for Crabapple
+1 for the Lignos
-1 for the river
-3 for high social expectations
-1 for being close to tailtop village (aka noise disturbance)
-1 for being the most likely to be found first by travellers
-1 for many flowers and thus many bees and wasps
Final score: 6/10

Of course Edith became a Lignos. SSO does meaningful names all the time. Hartwood. Hart wood. Hart: an adult male deer.
Adult male deer in a wood. Or made of wood. Gee, I wonder why that's familiar.
Edith became a damn Lignos, specifically a deer, and what's more, a male too.
So here's a theory- Edith identified as male and asked the tree to change him to the gender he identified as.
All magic has a price, so the tree went "alrighty, but you'll be a deer". And Edith went "that's dope, people suck anyway, sign me up".
The end.
Ok guys. Lignos is not a name. Lignos is the designation for the servant of an ancient tree. When we rescued Justin from prison and took him to the South Hoof Peninsula, the Singing Yew said a rather creepy thing:
Tumblr media
Which leads me to think: what if Edith Hartwood literally became part of the forest, becoming Lignos for the Sentinel Tree in the Wildwoods? What does a person feel during the transition? What happens to the mind: does it die or is it transferred in the form of psychic energy to the tree? Does Lignos remember his past life? It seems to me that not everyone can communicate with ancient trees, so in theory not everyone will be suitable for this. Then another question: was Edith Hartwood a simple, but brave researcher, or did she still know much more than ordinary people?

So primeval trees can turn people into Lignos, we’ve seen only one Lignos so far, and Edith Hartwood was in the Wildwoods area pretty much on her own and she disappeared without a trace. . . Is SSO implying what I think they are?
they called the stag thing a lignos or something like that right?? didn’t Elizabeth and Rhiannon mention something like that??? I remember them saying that lignos are humans that the primeval trees have turned into their servants
