A new game blog just came out with many interesting things, here's a link if you want to read it whole, I'm gonna write down what I think is the most important/interesting:

They plan to release the showjumping with faults and penalties permanently sometime this fall or winter

They planned to release the wardrobe update in April, but they had to postpone to June. They ran into a problem with UI scaling, so it's again postponed, but they want to release it this year.

This delay also affected their plans to put more slots on the character and horse sheet. This mean that the ability to wear earrings and glasses at the same time, or the release of ear bonnets and horse blankets will be set to later. (Expected realease 2025 and later)

The customizable stables are coming (they said September on instagram under one post). Throughout the rest of this year, they'll release more options, so we can "mix and match". If people like it, they will continue to evolve and release new ones during 2025.

The new system for retrofitting older horses is nearly finished. They plan to finish it late 2024 and have all G3 horses retrofitted before summer 2025.

I'm gonna just copy this one: "We’re introducing a new way of interacting with your horse and fellow players in a revamped area set in a ye olde time. We hope you're as excited as we are for this addition — we think this journey in time will be magical!"

wait, wait, wait... a REVAMPED AREA?!?!

For now, breeding horses is off the table. Instead, they're focusing on more customization for horses and more interactions between the horse and the rider - this includes personality and reactions from your horses! (this will be G4 I think)

They started to work on the name changes, but changed the focus on functionality of the launcher and the handling of Star Coins Wallets. The name change is not forgotten, but it won't come in 2024 or 2025.

More body types, more face options and more skin colours are planned, but they have to optimize and improve graphical pipeline first, otherwise it could lead to game crashes and game instabilities. These optimizations and improvements will be done by January 2025. Additional body types will be worked on during 2025. They're also thinking of making it as a slider, so people can create themselves. Whatever they choose, it won't come earlier than late 2025 or even 2026, depending on what gets in the way.

Copying: "Narrative and Story!: This will be for another post. We will not stop, ever, to share stories from the universe of Jorvik—there are still many untold secrets, and much more to discover in the stories we've already begun." That sounds ominous lol, but does that mean they plan to finish the unfinished storylines?

i quickly skimmed thru this month's game blog, and boy is there some exciting stuff at the very end of it! i really can't decide which thing i'd like most, but i'm interested to see what everyone else thinks

i have no clue as to exactly what SSE means by "enhanced backpack experience," but i'm assuming it's referring to different organization and perhaps no more JS limit??

first things first:

⤷ i started playing star stable online in november 2014, however i played a lot horse games before (mainly star stable the summer riders)

⤷ i am from Poland, which means that english is my second language

⤷ this blog is mainly dedicated to sso and all games related, but be aware that sometimes i might get nostalgic for some other games :P

okay, now let's get into why i am here:

around the end of august I realised that i really miss being a star stable blogger. i have never had a sso tumblr blog, but i had a blogger dot com since that was quite popular in the early 2010s among the polish community. i miss the creativity i had back then, the feelings for the game and horses and blogging... that actually made me fall in love with writing a diary and i still do it to this day, everyday :) discovering the ssoblr community made me want to try this whole blogging thing again and made me really excited and happy that there are people who are still as interested in these games as i am. see you around!

Intro post :)

I've been playing SSO since July 2018 and I go by Stefanie Cutekeep in game, which is why you don't let a seven year old who doesn't know English name their character.

I'm on the Swedish server Air Star and plan to stay there.

I've been a huge fan of SSO and the other Jorvik games since I was younger and this blog will basically be used to info dump about random stuff and maybe some updates about SSO.

I promised to post about the second part of the game blog the day it comes out, and the day is today!

There is info only about the Friesians, but there are a few points I want to highlight:

The 3D artist and the Equestrian Advisor for the new Friesians was Lisa Wackenhuth Svanström (Senior 3D Artist). Lisa also worked on the Jorvik Friesian and, after the production end in 2020, she got her own Friesian mare Maaike. Maaike then became the main source of inspiration for the new Friesian.

Both the tail and the mane have updated rigs, where the tail has now three chains for the tail strands instead of one, and the mane now has five joints with four to a max. of eight bones in each (the JF has 3 chains with a max. of 4 bones).

Did you notice the white hair on one of the Friesians that looks like the horse is starting to gray with age? That's the intention! They decided to experiment a little and add one coat as an "older Friesian". Lisa noticed it on her mare as well and considers it a charming trait.

"Furthermore by adding the shaved bridle path in the neck of all manestyles on the Friesian we were also able to split the forelocks in order to prepare for features such as combining different manes with forelocks and tail styles in the future - a feature we in the horse team long to bring to you players but currently have no technical solution for yet. But small steps and improvements with every horse production will eventually get us there."

Another thing I do think we should consider when comparing SSO to other games is the working environment for employees, especially due to the game industry being NOTORIOUSLY horrific for female/afab employees. I understand that the girl power narrative isn't ideal for a lot of people (I'm not super into it either), but it should be taken into account just how abysmal working conditions are for most women trying to break into the industry- SSE trying to change that really is something I'm not mad about putting my money towards

hiya! I'm Wren. he/they, nonbinary, pansexual star stable player who got sucked into this silly horse game by accident. I am the self proclaimed no. 1 Darko hater (/silly) and also huge lover of the Soul Riders they're one of the big reasons I stuck w/ the game (and as of late I've been hyperfixating on the Dark Riders just as much tbh)

in game my name rn is Blake Crazyfrog but when and if the name change update drops i'll probably be changing that to Haley Starborn. speaking of which, lemme introduce you to my main SSO OC: Halo! quick summary of their backstory: one day, they washed up on the shores of Moorland with little to no memory of who they were, just an inner longing to return to the stars and a mysterious connection to one of the horses at the nearby stables. thus begins their journey to adapting to life on earth, navigating their way around Jorvik's mysteries, and growing into the role as the fifth Soul Rider.

^ one of my bingles of all time ft. their starter and soul horse, Babyboy, who is also typically my main horse in game. don't ask me how many horses I have I lost count a long time ago but its at least over 100 by now. not all of them are canonically owned by Halo but I haven't fully decided which ones are yet.

typical dni rules, just don't a bigot or asshole and we're cool. also if you're like. an avid hater of the soul riders or something please like. avoid this blog that's partly for my own comfort and also you probably wouldn't enjoy it here anyway.

btw this blog is very much aimed at the adult fans of sso and not at all for the kids of star stable. that said, let's all remind ourselves that the main playerbase of this game is kids and tweens, and to that end, for any patient adults up to the task: if you see two kids fighting or one kid clearly having a meltdown in global. PLEASE talk to them and be kind. you might get nowhere. you might get frustrated. but you might also be the only voice of reason for that kid or the only adult willing to walk through a meaningless but upsetting argument with them. when i was a kid online, there was nobody to mediate fights between me and the older kids in the games i played, and when i got older, there were no (normal and non-creepy) adults to keep me from harrassing younger kids i found annoying. do these kids a favor and be kind, yeah? and before anyone says "rahhh it's not my job--" No, it's not. but you should feel compassionate to the kids of the world wandering around learning everything for the first time in a new scary digital age. were your parents there for the first 100 times the internet traumatized your little baby brain? i know mine weren't! not saying you need to parent these kids but like, you know. It can be helpful to be the calm in a storm

SSO has lost its identity, but we didn't, let's fight for that) ->If you don't realize that SSE has a problem, a real one on multiple points. ->That the game is so vague and with an ENORMOUS lack of depth, that it's open to any interpretation.
