Last December, Mahesh Odedara signed a contract to live and work for five years in a foreign country thousands of miles away from home and mired in a state of war. Odedara, a 30-year-old farmer from Porbandar, a city in western India, was aware of the risks of working on an Israeli farm. But Odedara’s contract promised him a steady, eight-hour workday, robust workers’ rights under Israeli law, and a 5,571 shekel ($1,500) monthly salary—many times more than what Odedara earned in Porbandar. It was too good to turn down.
Israeli farms are in dire need of agricultural workers like Odedara. Following Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, the Israeli government barred tens of thousands of Palestinian laborers, a critical component of Israel’s agricultural workforce, from entering the country. By early winter, farms were facing a “manpower crisis.” With no sign of government policy changing, farmers have since turned to importing thousands of foreign laborers from countries such as India, Malawi, and Sri Lanka to stay afloat.
At first, Odedara’s expectations were high. With his newfound salary, he would be able to send home hundreds of dollars each month to support his parents; the money could also go toward purchasing equipment for the family farm. One day, Odedara hoped, he might even be able to buy a home for himself in Porbandar.
But soon after arriving in Israel, Odedara realized that his employers had little intention of honoring his contract. In Ahituv, a farming community in northern Israel, Odedara worked grueling, 11- to 12-hour shifts picking produce; he was forced to work on weekends and was told he would be paid far below the legal hourly minimum wage. Then, at the end of the month, he was not paid at all—Odedara’s boss informed him that his wages had been sent, inexplicably, to his employment agency instead.
(When reached for comment, Odedara’s former employer denied that Odedara had ever worked for him; however, another migrant worker who independently mentioned working for the same employer corroborated Odedara’s claims about labor conditions and missing wages. The employment agency did not respond to a request for comment.)
Odedara’s housing, which farms provide for their workers, also bordered on the uninhabitable. In Khatsav, where Odedara worked for eight days, he slept in a makeshift room erected out of wooden planks and panes of sheet metal; his bathroom was a toilet in an outdoor shack with a dirt floor, and the shower had no hot water. In the first few months, Odedara lost nearly 25 pounds.
Odedara now “really regrets” coming to Israel, he said, even though he counts as one of the lucky ones: Odedara’s brother, Bharat, had already worked in Israel as a caregiver for four years and was eventually able to find him a job at a farm with far better labor conditions.
Yet Odedara’s experiences in Ahituv and Khatsav are far from unique. According to Bharat, abuse and illegal labor practices are widespread. “I used to meet all the new people coming in for agriculture. I was talking to them, and everyone has the same problem,” Bharat said. “They have to fight for their salary, for their rights, for their basic requirements. Nobody is helping them. They are helpless.”
Farming is fundamental to Israel’s national identity, yet the country’s agricultural sector has been reliant on non-Israeli labor for decades. In 1967, after Israel captured the West Bank and Gaza, the government decided to integrate the territories’ residents into the Israeli economy. Since then, “Palestinians have been integral to the Israeli labor force,” said Adriana Kemp, a sociologist at Tel Aviv University who studies Israeli labor. “You could not talk about whole sectors like agriculture or construction without talking about this large number of Palestinians.”
By the 1990s—following spates of violence from Palestinian militants—Israel began “talking about the possibility of opening the gate for overseas labor migrants,” Kemp said. “That’s when they started actually bringing [in workers] from different countries.” But even so, Palestinians stayed in large numbers; in 2021, tens of thousands of Palestinian laborers made up a quarter of Israel’s total agricultural workforce.
Then came Oct. 7. Claiming that agricultural workers from Gaza had provided intelligence to Hamas fighters, the Israeli government barred some 20,000 Palestinian agricultural laborers from reentering the country. (Israel’s internal security service has since partially disputed this finding.) Around the same time, some 7,800 Thai workers, previously the largest population of overseas workers in Israel due to a 2012 Israeli-Thai bilateral agreement, fled after at least 39 of them were killed in the Hamas attack.
Almost overnight, the agricultural sector lost over a third of its entire foreign workforce. In the early weeks of the war, even though Israeli volunteers stepped in to help struggling farmers, farms hemorrhaged profits. By November, to replenish the labor force, the Israeli government announced that it would allow up to 5,000 overseas workers into the country via a new immigration scheme.
When Orit Ronen heard about the scheme, her immediate thought was that it would lead to “one big balagan”—Hebrew for a “chaotic mess.” Ronen, who works at Kav LaOved, a Tel Aviv-based labor rights nonprofit, was acutely aware of how vulnerable the new arrivals would be, given existing exploitation. Ronen also knew that many farms lacked sufficient infrastructure to house workers, since the farms’ previous Palestinian laborers had simply commuted in from the West Bank or Gaza.
Ronen was right to worry. Since early December, when thousands of new laborers began arriving in Israel, Kav LaOved has received more than 300 requests for information and assistance from workers reporting a litany of abuse. The conditions Odedara and others have experienced are blatantly illegal under Israeli labor law. But ever since the Oct. 7 attack, labor law enforcement has been “less than before,” Ronen said. “And even before, it was low.”
The Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA), the Israeli government agency tasked with labor law enforcement, did not respond to requests for interview. “We have the call center for foreign workers, where they can explain exactly the problem, and they will be checked,” PIBA spokesperson Sabine Haddad wrote in an email.
Migrant workers also often hesitate to contact PIBA’s call center for fear of retaliation; employers “are telling [workers] that we will send you back to India if you will not work as we say,” Bharat said. Employers “can’t do that. I know that, but [the workers] don’t. They are new.” (Israeli law allows workers to stay in the country for 90 days to find a new employer if they have been fired.)
The threat of deportation is especially potent because most workers are effectively stranded in Israel for the duration of their five-year contracts, thanks to the outsized fees they paid before departing for Israel. In Odedara’s case, an agent in India asked him for $6,300 in an under-the-table payment, which he paid for with his family’s savings.
These fees are not a new phenomenon, but labor advocacy organizations scored a major victory in 2012, when Israel and Thailand established a bilateral agreement that eliminated predatory fees for Thai migrant workers. The post-Oct. 7 immigration scheme, which has no such provision, threatens to undo this progress. “The [workers] that come, especially from India, paid thousands of dollars” to brokers, Ronen said. “For them, that’s a very big deal, and that makes them very vulnerable.”
And then there is the war. Melbin Paul, a 29-year-old from the southern Indian state of Kerala, was assigned to work at a poultry farm close to the Israel-Lebanon border, which the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has fired rockets across nearly every day since Oct. 7.
On the morning of March 4, Paul looked up from trimming an almond tree and saw a missile heading straight toward him and his fellow workers. “There was no time to run,” he said. The projectile, a Hezbollah anti-tank missile, made impact “in the blink of an eye.” Paul’s friend, 31-year-old Kerala native Pat Nibin Maxwell, was instantly killed. Paul, who had stood a few yards away from Maxwell, was left with dime-sized shrapnel wounds scoring the right side of his body.
“Even before the war, it was very common for agricultural workers that work near the Gaza Strip to be injured or killed,” said Michal Tadjer, a lawyer who runs a workers’ rights clinic at Tel Aviv University. Maxwell is one of at least a half-dozen agricultural workers who have been killed by rocket fire in the past decade.
Following the April 13 Iranian strikes on Israel, the Indian foreign ministry urged its citizens in Israel to register themselves at the Indian Embassy and “restrict their movements to the minimum.” The warning belies the reality that the new workers have far less understanding of the security situation than longtime Palestinian laborers or Thai migrants, who have been in Israel for decades.
Paul and his friends had never even been told that their farm was located in a closed military zone that Margaliot residents had evacuated in mid-October. “This is my first time in Israel,” Paul said. “I [didn’t] know where the firing and war” was.
Yet the scale of migrant worker exploitation could soon grow even worse. Fewer than 3,000 new agricultural workers have arrived since November; an additional 8,000 to 12,000 workers are needed to bring farms back to full labor capacity, according to Ronen. A separate deal is already in place to bring 10,000 Sri Lankan laborers to Israel over the coming months. More balagan is likely to follow.
There will also be profound security consequences to shifting away from Palestinian labor. Before Oct. 7, the income of Palestinian laborers in Israel made up about 20 percent of the Palestinian Authority’s GDP. For months now, Israel’s internal security service has called for Palestinian workers from the West Bank to be let back into Israel, warning that increasingly dire economic conditions in the West Bank will lead to further destabilization and violence. But right-wing ministers in the Israeli government have refused to lift the ban, citing the need to move away from Palestinian labor at all costs.
For the workers, their salaries are far beyond the meager sums they could earn back home. For Odedara, there’s much left to do: His current job, while a significant improvement over his previous stints, still pays below what his contract stipulates, and then there is the matter of getting his missing wages back. Odedara is “going to find a solution,” Bharat said. “He wants to stay here but in a good condition—not like this.”
Regardless, the post-Oct. 7 wave of new arrivals will remain in Israel until 2029—meaning that, for at least the next five years, many Palestinian farm workers will not have a job to return to even if the ban on Palestinian labor is lifted.
The only certainty, it seems, is that Israel will have to continue to look beyond its own population for labor. “Israel has relied on noncitizen labor in agriculture for a long time, whether Palestinian or non-Palestinian,” Kemp said. “This structural dependence will not go away.”

Orange Pekoe - Anne
One of the original three owners of the tea shop, 23 year old Anne is constantly looking for new tea recipes to try! For the first part of the story, she is abroad in China studying different types of tea leaves and how to brew different types. She became a magical girl during her travels, but due to being in remote areas, had not been able to contact her friends until returning.
About the tea: Orange Pekoe Ceylon is black tea from Sri Lanka. It doesn't taste like oranges at all! It's harvested when the leaf bud has only two young leaves. According to the grading system for Orange Pekoe, Ceylon tea is a TGFOP (tippy golden flowery orange pekoe). Steep the tea for 3-4 minutes in hot water, or if you'd like a cold brew tea, leave the tea leaves in a bottle of water overnight. I personally like cold brewing and adding a slice of lemon for a refreshing treat in the summer.

Dear Father, Let's Chat
Tumblr media
Warnings: 18+readersonly
Copyright: I do not own any Marvel characters or locations. However, I do own my OCs, which consist of Penny Fury, Elizabeth Nelson, Elijah Chan, Katya Venice, Violetta Moscow, Lan Le, Josh, Trang Tien, Ahni Jallow, Mai Ito, and Ghaida Kashual as well as other OCs that will come up throughout the story.
"Penelope." Her father pulled her into a tight hug in front of all the other Avengers. She hugged him back just as tightly, feeling both extremely happy with seeing her father again, while also feeling an underlying current of anger as well as just the slight pinch of guilt.
"Hi daddy." Penny mumbled, feeling like a little girl again. The Avengers were moving around them, being greeted by their friends and family- and sex partners she had to keep reminding herself. They were all sleeping together.
She watched as Wanda hugged Pietro as he came off the plane, the both of them smiling. But when she reached out for Sam, he dodged her touch, and murmured something to her. Penny watched Wanda's smile become sad, nodding in understanding, and turning back to Pietro.
A different sort of guilt seemed to punch her gut. She quickly looked back at her father. "Dad, I think we need to talk."
"Are you alright?" Her father asked, putting an arm around her shoulder and started to lead her back towards the tower. It was far colder here in New York than it had been in Sri Lanka, almost as though- ha!- she'd traveled across the world.
"Are you hurt? Did they touch you? Rape you? Should we run pregnancy tests and tests for HIV and AIDS?" Her father asked with no filter at all.
"I'm not hurt. I was never raped. I was touched a bit, yes, but never actually, you know." Penny let the thought finish. "So no, the tests are unnecessary."
Her father relaxed just slightly. The doors to Avengers Tower were opened and Penny looked around as the hot warmth of the building enveloped her.
She'd always wanted to come to Avengers Tower. She knew Tony Stark had built it- well had it built- and that it was Avengers Headquarters. The lower fifteen to twenty floors were filled with the non- Avengers who did other work. Mostly SHIELD agents, but also High School and college interns for engineering projects. There was also a side lab for students in sciency fields like bio-chemistry or microbiology.
The lobby was open and sparse, looking nearly like any other lobby of a grand building with white marble tiled floors. The furniture was all black leather, about six TVs, and two huge chandeliers.
"I hope you don't mind," Her father said as they nodded to one of the men outside of the elevator and they stepped into it. They clearly had the elevator all to themselves, which was made of glass and she could see out across the city as it started to ascend, "I would like you to stay in the tower for a week or two while everything gets sorted out. We still have to track down Blonsky and the folks that Rumlow used to kidnap you. The Avengers will be your best line of protection, though they all know to leave you alone."
Penny sighed, "Dad, at least one of the Avengers is my soulmate. You can't think that I shouldn't see who else is, right?"
"I would've preferred you not to interact with them." Fury sighed. "As good as they are at heroes, they are terrible at keeping relationships and I already know that you'll get hurt. They aren't loyal Penny."
"Agent Wilson told me about their endeavors." Penny replied.
"That's surprising. I would've assumed Stark would've spilled." Fury muttered.
"Agent Wilson said he was willing to give up the- er- orgies for me. Be loyal to me." Penny replied. "He also said he believed the others would do so too. And I think I should be allowed to at least give them a chance."
Fury glanced over at her and Penny stared back. Her father sighed, running a hand over his face. "Penny, I don't want to see you get hurt. Physically or emotionally."
"I'm old enough to make my own decisions, especially about my soulmates." Penny answered. "I'm more warning you. I'm not really asking for permission."
"I know. You're way to much like me." Fury muttered. "But at least heed my warnings. They've been used to simply doing just about anyone who lives in floors sixty to seventy whenever they want. Adding you as their soulmate to the mix is going to shake things up one way or another. As much as I love you, things will be shaken in their bonding's and ranks. Things might even get awkward between some of the heroes. So make sure you're swift in the rules you set with your soulmates."
"I will, don't worry." Penny replied.
"Are you sure you don't need anything from me?" Fury asked as the elevator started to slow.
"N-" Penny started and then looked at her father, "A psychiatrist. I. . . well I can't really talk about some of these things with you. A female psychiatrist preferably."
Fury nodded, pulling her into his arms once more and kissing the side of her head, "I'm glad you're safe."
"I love you dad. Thank you for sending them to rescue me." Penny whispered.
"I love you too."
The elevator doors opened and they drew apart. Fury nodded to her and then Penny exited the elevator.
"Penelope?" A dark skinned man asked. He was slender, pretty tall- probably 6'1- dressed in a simple T-shirt and jeans.
"Yes." She said.
He held out his hand, "Colonel James Rhodey."
"Nice to meet you." She said, now recognizing him. He looked very much like his picture, but she hadn't been able to place him right away without his army uniform on.
"Glad to see you're alright." James replied, yet Penny also saw that hint of worry behind his eyes. Probably wondering how her presence would affect the rest of them.
Penny wondered just how many of the Avengers she could possibly be mated to, and wondering if she was mated to anyone outside of the Avengers. What if it was just Sam?
Yet, somehow that seemed worse. Then Sam would have to watch as everyone else continued on the same and he was left out. Almost as though he was being excluded. It would be better if Penny had more soulmates so that they could all be together and it would be somewhat the same.
"Anyways, I can show you to your room if you'd like." Rhodey suggested.
"Yes, thanks." Penny replied quickly.
It was a trip back into the elevator and she noticed they went up to floor seventy-one.
"No one is on this floor yet." Rhodey replied. "When Kamala, Peter, and some of the other high school superheroes join in, this'll be their floor as well. Of course, your room might change depending on if you go from staying temporarily to permanently or what not."
Penny nodded and Rhodey opened up the room. "It's got all the basics- or what Tony considers basics anyways. If you need anything more personal though, all the girls are staying on floors sixty-four and sixty-seven. Except Elizabeth and Katya. They stay with Elijah and Lan on floor sixty-nine."
"Thank you." Penny replied.
"Any announcements or smaller questions F.R.I.D.A.Y. can answer." Rhodey said, lingering in the doorway. "I'll let you settle in. I have no idea what we're doing for dinner, but F.R.I.D.A.Y. will tell you when it's decided."
"Okay, thanks again." Penny said. Rhodey smiled and he closed the door behind him as he left.
Penny looked around the room.
It was very large, with thick white carpets. The bed in the center of the room was also extremely large, perhaps to fit five or six people in it. Then again, it probably was.
The dressers and accompanying furniture was all white to match everything else in the room. The closet already had basic T-shirts, jeans, and skirts in the closet. There were also several agent wear.
There was a minifridge that had rootbeer, Pepsi, Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Orange Fanta, green and blue Gatorades, different flavors of Bangs and Monsters, along with Milky ways, 3 Musketeers, Milk Hershey, Mr. Beast chocolate bars, and Recess Peanut butter cups.
"Nice." Penny muttered, taking out the Mr. Beast chocolate and a Coke.
She put both on the bedside table and sat down on the bed. She rubbed the spot on her arm where the Falcon tattoo had appeared.
There was a sudden knock at the door.
"Yeah! Come on in!" Penny said.
She was surprised when Elizabeth stepped through the door. She'd changed out of her superhero attire and was dressed like she was about to head out. Blue jeans, an olive green long-sleeved shirt tucked into her pants. A thick black belt with a chipped bronze buckle, cinching the pants tight. She had a simple small silver necklace with a cross around her neck and was wearing small black heeled boots about an inch and a half. Her long brown hair had been pulled back into a neat ponytail.
"I wanted to check in on you." Elizabeth said quietly. "You had a hard flight from what I understand."
"You're the one who almost died." Penny pointed out.
Elizabeth shrugged, "So a daily occurrence. What's new? My fault anyways, I'm usually much better at the missions than that."
Elizabeth paused, looking down at Penny. Penny felt the strangest feeling she was being analyzed. Elizabeth sighed, putting her hands in her pockets. "I know the atmosphere is weird. It's because we don't know where you stand. Nick has made it completely obvious that if you're with your soulmates, they're no longer able to participate in the orgies. Which is fine, you know? You should be able to have loyal soulmates. What hurts you here, in everything not just the relationships, is indecision. It's okay to think something over, but you have to be quick about it. I know you're going to need time to get to know your soulmates. They're great people, trust me. And we're all extremely relaxed here. If you want your soulmates. . . loyal is a weird word. We're all loyal to each other. But if you'd prefer to be their only partner, they're going to do it for you. And the rest of us aren't going to have hard feelings over it. But we did just get back from a very stressful mission and feelings are going to be running high. Now, what do you want for dinner?"
Penny blinked. She'd taken in most of what the girl in front of her had said until the last bit, "Did you. . . did you just give me a heartfelt speech and then completely change the subject?"
"Yep, I do that a lot. I'm OCD and ADHD and I can't focus on only one thing. I'm scatterbrained, I know way to many weird facts, and I'm pretty sure I'm crazy. What do you want for dinner?"
Penny knew she liked the girl at that moment. "No idea. I'm not really hungry."
"Of course you aren't." Elizabeth responded and Penny was once again swept up into confusion. "You're used to eating in a different time zone, not to mention there probably wasn't a lot of food that they gave you to eat. You know, because the submissives who are known as 'pets' aren't allowed to have good food or a lot of food in large quantities. So you're stomach has been shrinking from a lack of food. But you should eat now anyways just to restart your schedule. Come on."
She didn't even wait for Penny to respond, already half-way down the hall as Penny darted out of her door and caught up to her.
"Where are we going?"
"Kitchen."
Elizabeth responded calmly, stepping into the elevator.
"Who cooks?"
"A couple of us. Usually Wanda or me. If it was left to the guys, they'd order junk food every night and then we'd be a bunch of fat superheroes."
"I thought you were a small town superhero."
"I was." Elizabeth agreed. "Till I found out my mom was part of HYDRA and she sent my brothers- who weren't actually my brothers- as super soldiers after me. Lovely, yay. Nick promised to protect me and my friends. I still get to do my small assignments and everyone's happy. Nick likes to send me on missions as a secret weapon. Everyone always underestimates me."
"I can see that, no offense." Penny replied. Elizabeth didn't really look like a fighter.
"None taken." Elizabeth said. "I don't look like a warrior. But then again, I rarely have to deal with hand to hand combat. I just call up water waves and drown people. It's more of a mental strength. And then the people who do know about my powers assume that if there's no water around, I'm useless. But I'm not." Elizabeth flashed Penny a wicked grin, "I can use the water in their bodies to choke themselves. You know the body is made up of sixty percent water. It's a handy trick."
As the elevator doors opened up in a large common room with basically every Avenger imaginable, Penny made a side note to never get on Elizabeth's bad side.
Suddenly, a giant shadow swooped down on the two of them. "What's for dinner Queen of Ice?"
Elizabeth smirked as Penelope stared up at Thor. "I don't know yet. What do you want?"
"You." Thor smirked.
"Ha." Elizabeth teased, rolling her eyes. "Elijah wouldn't let you after this afternoon."
"Isn't Elijah your soulmate?" Penelope asked in confusion. Elizabeth grabbed Penny's arm to drag her past Thor and into the kitchen which- compared to the other room- was completely empty.
"Oh yeah. Soulmate, Husband, dom, master, handler." Elizabeth rattled off, pulling open cupboards and pulling out things in a seemingly sporadic manner.
"Handler. . ."
"Look, like I said, we're all together. Elijah is my soulmate and he's my master. So he decides when, where, and who I get to interact with." Elizabeth said this all calmly and unconcerning as though they were simply talking about the weather.
"Which can be a right pain in the ass when I have to become aware of how I treat him whenever an orgy comes up, otherwise he makes me sit and watch and I can't participate." Elizabeth complained. She looked over at Penny. "He's got a voyeuristic kink so he likes to watch. Especially watching me with other men."
"Isn't that. . . strange to you?" Penny asked uncertainly.
"Maybe at first." Elizabeth shrugged. "But now I like it. You find that with all of us, there's just about every kink here. So you find the kinks you're okay with and you stick with 'em. No one makes anyone travel outside their comfort zone. And for every person that's got a kink, there's at least one person to reciprocate it. It's a complex and beautiful system."
"And I'm going to screw it up?"
"I didn't say that." Elizabeth shrugged again. "I'm guessing you've never had a lot of true interaction. But tell me, how would you feel about joining us? Not me, obviously. I'm straight as a board. But most of everyone else out there is either straight girls or everyone else is bi. And you could even have Ahni, she's only into girls. If you're into girls of course, there's no shame in being straight either. But is that something you'd even want?"
Penny had no idea. She'd never even thought about herself joining in. She wondered how her father would feel about that.
Before she could say anything, Tony Stark strolled into the kitchen. He shot her a wink and then tried to grab whatever Elizabeth was making.
"Anthony!" Elizabeth scolded, hitting him over the head with a heavy wooden spoon. "Hands off."
"Damnit." Tony muttered, sitting down next to Penny. He looked over at her. "I'm Tony Stark."
"Penelope Fury. You can just call me Penny." She responded, flinching harshly at the tattoo that was appearing on her left shoulder. She pulled her shirt sleeve down and glanced over to see a peacock there.
"Fitting." Elizabeth commented slyly.
"I like peacocks." Tony pouted. He had pulled his shirt off and was trying to look at the tattoo on his back.
"Yeah, I bet." Elizabeth continued, "Handsome, proud, and a pain in the ass."
"It's a red panda." Penny informed him as he paused looking at his tattoo, glaring at the ice princess. Penny giggled a little.
"Cute." Tony grinned. "So, what are you girls talking about?"
"Sex and orgies." Elizabeth stated bluntly before Penny could even think of a topic to lie about.
Tony chuckled, "Already? Good lord Elsa, she's barely been here for an hour."
Elizabeth smirked and Penny was suddenly aware of the thick smell of cooking meat floating through the kitchen. Hamburgers, by the smell of it.
"Alright." Elizabeth said and Penny watched as several dishes full of food were flung onto the table. She was vividly reminded of Beauty and the Beast with the dancing dishes, except these dishes were floated onto the table by water waves. "Dinners served."

Hi, I am AJ (initials for my first and last name) and though I got into spn fandom via twt, I like tumblr more now because it seems calmer. I sometimes resent that I discovered the fandom after 2019 lol when everyone was moving on lol.
I can move my ears like animals (it is apparently an evolutionary thing like we shouldnt be able to do that but 10% of us can). Also my favourite meal has to be Chhole Bhature and I wish more people knew about it!! My first ever fandom/fiction obsession was Harry Potter.
1 episode of supernatural was banned from airing and another aired with some scenes cut (on cable tv) in my country. Both from the same season. Can you guess which ep/season ?!
None of the information is in any way related but it is what came on top of my head to convery I have no idea why.
ah, the aj is actually an AJ! a small mystery solved 🕵️
the ear thing is wild, I'm very impressed. I hope you have used this skill to impress friends and deter enemies.
I have now googled and Chhole Bhature looks INCREDIBLE, jeeeezus. I think I was told recently that a lot of "Indian" food we get in the States is heavily influenced by southern India/Sri Lanka, so some of the stuff from the north doesn't really appear here. The chickpea curry looks good but the bread looks truly sploosh-worthy. Hot damn. I may have a new recipe to try soon.
based on the chhole I'm going to guess that this is s5, and that the Kali episode got banned, and... hm, maybe the Death episode had scenes cut? This is a wild stab in the dark, lol.
It's all related because it all has to do with AJ! I wish you hadn't come in after 2019 either, because you actually read fics and that makes you a rare bird. :) We just need to cunningly drag people back into the fandom. Next year is going to be the 20 year anniversary of the pilot airing... I'm just saying, a fest...? maybe...?

So I live in the state that drinks the most coffee per capita and invented every funky coffee trend you can think of 10 years before Portland stole it. If you go to Starbucks in this state it is because you are either new or a sucker for branding.
I don't drink coffee.
But there are about a million coffee shops I can choose from and they've all got their own gimick. I can order a London Fog just about anywhere and I will get one. The quality of these London Fogs and coffee in general is wildly variable.
A London Fog is 2 Earl Gray tea bags, hot water, steamed milk, and honey or vanilla, sometime both.
I have found coffee shops that get the real good shit tea, And local honey and make at beverage that tastes like it should be a lot more expensive than it is.
That is not what happened yesterday.
I have been a barista, I generally try to be polite, but this time I was so confused by the cup that was handed to me that I was inadvertently rude. I feel a little bad, because my 1st reaction on being handed whatever that was was to ask "what is this?"
I didn't get an answer. I had to go and I had already paid so I figured whatever, I'll just drink it. I'm not allergic to anything, it won't kill me.
It's important to know that the density of coffee shops is such that there is another coffee shop across the parking lot. I got a London Fog at that coffee shop and it was one of the God Tier, tea imported from Sri Lanka, Wildflower honey from friendly bees, Milk from happy cows, Perfect brew in a personalized cup, kind of London Fogs.
So I might be a little unfair in my critique of the one I got from this coffee shop.
But at the same...
From the top:
Ice
Tea bag?
Cold milk
Another tea bag?
A half inch of congealed vanilla syrup
T'was bad man. Cold wet tea bag. No tea. Accidentally slurped up an entire mouthful of vanilla syrup. Also while I know that the rest of the world has moved on to springtime, it was 27゚F. I ordered a hot drink on purpose.

Copper Nickel 90/10 Round Bars Manufacturers in India
Tumblr media
Omkar Metal Corporation stands tall as a renowned and leading manufacturer and supplier in the realm of Copper Nickel 90/10 Round Bars/Rods. With a rich legacy of catering to a diverse clientele, we take immense pride in offering an extensive array of top-notch products coupled with unparalleled customer service, thereby earning accolades across the globe.
Industries across various sectors rely on Copper Nickel 90/10 Round Bars/Rods owing to their exceptional resistance to crack corrosion and pitting, making them indispensable for environments prone to sulphuric and choric acid attacks.
These fittings boast a chemical composition enriched with nickel and molybdenum, showcasing remarkable flexibility in hot working applications when utilized judiciously. Remarkably robust, they retain their integrity even when subjected to temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees F for prolonged durations, ensuring enduring performance, a testament to their inherent value proposition.
Characterized by an austenitic alloy composition comprising nickel, copper, and iron, Copper Nickel 90/10 Round Bars/Rods emerge as stalwarts in acid resistance, particularly against the notorious sulfuric acid. Their corrosion resistance extends to both pitting and crevice scenarios, even amidst environments laden with chloride-containing chemicals. Exhibiting similar resilience against the likes of sulphuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids, the inclusion of niobium in Copper Nickel 90/10 lends stabilization, guarding against sensitization and bestowing enhanced mechanical properties alongside fabrication ease.
Notably, Copper Nickel 90/10 Round Bars/Rods boast resistance against a vast spectrum of organic and inorganic chemicals, showcasing exceptional tolerance towards nitric and sulfuric acids. Furthermore, their resistance extends to intergranular corrosion, thwarting the formation of chromium carbides by binding carbon and nitrogen as carbides or nitrides. However, caution is warranted in warm chloride environments, where susceptibility to pitting and crevice corrosion may manifest.
In our commitment to ensuring the safe transit of our products, we offer an array of packaging options such as bundles, wooden boxes, and plastic containers. Moreover, rigorous testing protocols are diligently adhered to, ensuring the utmost quality and reliability of our offerings, thereby cementing our dedication to customer satisfaction.

its weird coming back home and knowing i am in such close proximity to him. its like i miss him again - but mostly i feel bad for him. i feel guilty for letting him down or leaving him or abandoning him just like his dad did to his mum. ugh. i cant really take it back now, can i? its not like i ever reached out to my old friends either. in fact, i dont even consider it, because i know how toxic and unhealthy they are. why would i go back when i could go forward? but still, i suddenly have him on my mind. could he be thinking about me? its like in this house, i feel his presence a lot more keenly than when i was in sri lanka or thailand. hes literally... 5 minutes away? obscenely close. its a wonder we havent run into eachother more. it actually affects my day to day life a lot too. i always think i see him, i always avoid eye contact with his lookalikes because im so afraid of the confrontation and reality check that he still exists and lives a whole life separate to mine but so fucking close to me at the same time.
we helped eachother get to this point.
i want someone new! i want a boyfriend! i want love and hot sweaty sex with someone and i refuse to let it be him. i wont go back. i deserve someone on my level, someone who is deep and clever and educated. someone who KNOWS things that i dont, who wants to teach me, and who wants to learn from me, and take care of me more than i can even take care of myself. who treats me like the princess i am... who will make the first move but also be patient with me as i learn to trust he is safe. who'll say things like "you are dangerously beautiful", who'll happily have me be his passenger princess, who'll have eyes for me and only me, who has that dark hungry look every time he sees me and has eyes as enchanting as mine and who communicates with me in everyway through a look - with absolutely no need for everyone else to know what we're thinking. EYE CONTACT THANK YOUUUU. no wonder i struggle so much with it. my eyes are dangerous. i cant give access to my energy to just anyone. therefore my eyes are for only a select few.
a zanis type, the zanis to my cora. lol. bestie from chicago.

Under pressure Sri Lanka look to lift their game
Rex Clementine in Dallas
After their disappointing show in the opening encounter in New York against South Africa, Sri Lanka are under tremendous pressure to lift the game in their second encounter of the World Cup against Bangladesh on Friday.
Sri Lanka crashed to a heavy defeat in their first game after being bowled out for their lowest total in T-20 Internationals, but they are too good a team to make a first-round exit.
Batting hasn’t clicked as a unit and Sri Lanka will be hoping that they bring up their best game in the must win clash.
The former champions aren’t expected to make too many changes for the game, at least in the bowling front. They opted to play Matheesha Pathirana and Nuwan Thushara against South Africa, and they are expected to bank on the two slingy bowlers.
Thushara had claimed a hat-trick the last time he played Bangladesh and that will be back in the minds of Bangladesh batters. That means, the more experienced Dushmantha Chameera sits out from the game.
One change Sri Lanka could do is to bring in middle order batter Dhananjaya de Silva in place of Sadeera Samarawickrama, who has struggled during the warm-up games before falling for a duck against South Africa.
Sri Lanka have won 11 of the 15 T-20 Internationals against Bangladesh including two games in T-20 World Cups (2007 and 2021). They also beat them in the recent bilateral series in Bangladesh.
However, Bangladesh are a team on the rise. Their quicks – Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam are terrific with the new ball. The team’s batting revolves around captain Najmul Shanto while all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan is a seasoned campaigner.
Young players like Jakar Ali and Rishad Hossain have come up with several match winning efforts. Although Sri Lanka have a slight advantage, Bangladesh can certainly pull this off and earn a place in the second round.
It has been hot and humid in Dallas and which means in a day-night fixture the toss could be vital.
