God the fucking parallels between Kamen/Fiona and Hollow/Levi are driving me insane

Fiona helps create Levi, treating them with compassion and even giving them her voice

Fiona sacrifices everything to join Kamen on the Demeter 227 in a desperate attempt to salvage their marriage

Kamen, through negligence and selfishness, destroys Fiona

Hollow controls Kamen by feeding him images of Fiona and tormenting him with memories of all the ways he failed her

Kamen gives in to his guilt and lets Hollow consume him

The biggest reason I want a Scavengers Reign season 2 is because I'm a real big fan of the trope of 'your punishment is that you have to live with yourself'. Kamen spent this first season trying to bury himself in his despair and his toxic relationship with the Hollow. He has no agency. It's not entirely his fault- the Hollow is very hard to resist. But he also seeks its influence out. But it is ironic given how he alone is the reason the plot is happening to all the characters. He took all the agency in the time before the story and now he's giving it all away. I really want to see him come to terms with what he's done, sober. The reason I love Kamen living is because dying lets him off easy. I also appreciate that Sam isn't there to punish Kamen for him. Ursula gives him a compliment in that one scene. It's impossible to tell what he's thinking because his expression looks out of it, but I hope that tears him up inside. I hope it makes him want to change his behavior. Anyway, Kamen's punishment is that he has to be a person again and I want to see it.

Listen guys I know my account has basically been inactive for months now, but any of my followers that are still paying attention to me or other people who find this post, go watch scavenger’s reign on Netflix. It got kicked off Max and aired on Netflix around May. It’s a sci-fi show where four people, Azi, Kamen, Ursula, and Sam are abandoned on this beautifully terrifying planet where they have to fight to survive. Explores some idea of what defines sentience and the interconnectedness of a planet with all its living things, too.

Dude this show needs so much more coverage. I looked for scavenger’s reign posts on this website and I could count how many there were. It’s ridiculous cause it’s the best show I’ve watched this entire year. And the show introduced so many plot lines in the finale and I just have to see where it goes! I don’t wanna spoil too much, so go check it out on Netflix if you can!

"When did you two first meet?"

Ito: When? (laughs)

Moromoto: When we first met? I'm pretty sure it was before filming started. My first impression of Ito-san was that he was, "A kind big bro."

Ito: He made me think, "This year's also going to turn out cool" (laughs).

Moromoto: We talked alot about Chalice back then. You said, "Chalice has existed for 10,000 years, so I want to show you 10,000 years worth of my career." What were some of the other things you said again?

Ito:……not much, I really don't remember (laughs).

Moromoto: Ahaha! One thing we have in common, is that we have similar bikes, don't we? We've talked about how we want to go (motorcycle) touring together after the show ends. I ride a Yamaha SR400 and, ah...I'm sorry……(Note: The bikes used in Kamen Rider are provided by Honda)

Ito:…Sorry, but I'm also a WR250F (Yamaha) rider~, but before that, it's always been a Honda! I'd love to see Moromoto-kun's rumored SR. I've heard that they're loud and rather slow……

Moromoto: That's right! I actually modified it too much, and now it can only go about 80kph (50mph) (laughs). Right now, I'm too busy to work on it. I feel like my love for it is fading~!

"What were your first impressions of Chalice?"

Moromoto: I received a call from my agency, saying I passed the audition with, "You're Heart." "Eh?! You mean Momorenger?!," I was so surprised and alittle bit intimidated (laughs), but when I saw the design in person, it was cool and I liked it alot because it was something I had never seen before.

Ito: When I was first told about it, I jokingly thought, "Heart……(sinking in)…ah, alright then, I'll just act like a gay guy……" But, after seeing the design, I was relieved and thought about what kind of pose would suit this Rider. My first thought when I read his setup, was that it would be nice to have something wild and different from the other Riders. Compared to G3-X in "Kamen Rider Agito" and Knight in "Kamen Rider Ryuki," this is the wildest work I've ever done. Even with Kaixa in "Kamen Rider 555," I tried to keep martial arts like movements in mind, and to avoid any unnecessary movements. But with Chalice, there's just so many unnecessary movements…(laughs).

Moromoto: That's why I also tried to make the movements bigger in that fight scene (episode 9).

"Morimoto-san, "Hajime Aikawa is not a normal human being," what do you pay attention to when playing such a role?"

Moromoto: When my heart is closer to the human side, it's not so different, but when it's closer to Chalice's side, I try not to blink as much as possible, and when I talk to people, I try to give subtle pauses in my responses. It's almost like a foreigner hearing Japanese and interpreting it in their head before replying. In general, when I'm on Chalice's side, I don't think with my mind, but instead, try to act with my feelings

"Do you have any techniques for the dubbing process?"

Moromoto: I have a high pitched voice, so it can be difficult for me to make Chalice sound intimidating or violent. That's why I'm trying to lower the tone of my voice. I also did research by studying "monsters" such as the Hulk, Akuma from "Street Fighter II" and King Piccolo from "Dragon Ball Z." One time I even played the videos, and would try to voice the characters myself with the sound off, but there was still something wrong. What could it be…I don't know what Chalice's true form is yet, so my image may not be perfect. (Note: The actors have not been told where the story is going at this time.)

Ito: When it's my turn to "Henshin!," I'm trying to decide if it's better to change or to fight and further develop myself. Essentially, Chalice is supposed to be used to fighting, so I want to keep my methods in check. I'm so focused that I feel like I can see my opponent's movements, even when they've stopped. However, the tension is still high.

Moromoto: The way I say "Transformation" is different depending on if I'm fighting to protect Amane-chan or with my natural emotions. For Amane-chan, it's, "Henshin!" but naturally it's, "…Henshin" (lower tone).

"Did you face any challenges during filming?"

Ito: I'm not good when it comes to cold weather, so I almost cried during the snowy mountain shoot.

Moromoto: It was -15C (5F)! And when the sun went down, they brought out one of those giant fans! It kept spraying us with cold water! Man, I remember my face being scrunched up with anger (laughs).

Ito: When I did a test shot without the mask on, my hair ended up freezing. It wouldn't even melt when I put my head over the space heater, so I just had to keep it as is.

Moromoto: There was also the scene where Amane-chan's father gives Hajime the photo, with it being so cold I thought, "This guy, is he really going to die?!"

Ito: I'm bad with Winter, but I'm also bad with Summer too. When I wear a suit, my body temperature rises and my face turns bright red. My heart starts to race too and I think, "Ah, my life is getting shorter…"

Moromoto: It's good for Chalice though, isn't it? Blood rushing, a fast pulse, it's like an unleashing of the instincts.

Ito: But, when I get like that, I become quiet. In the Summer, Chalice becomes more like a domesticated cat (laughs).

Moromoto: Please keep doing your best~, I'm also prepared to risk my life for this role!

Ito: I also want to play the role of a Rider who will continue to remain in everyone's heart. Personally, it's frustrating to often hear people say, "Chalice looks like Gills (Agito)" (laughs), regardless, please continue to watch us in the future. We're going to give it our all!

Scavenger’s Reign, Body Horror, and Returning to Nature.

(Spoilers for all of scavengers reign season 1)

This will be my first of a few deep dives/analysis into scavengers reign.

SR is a masterfully done sci-fi series that explores many different types of fear, one of these fears is body disfiguration/mutilation.

The entire world is out to get our protagonists and many things seek to use them for energy or food. Early on we see that the planet is far different from earth, with many of its inhabitants having developed extremely unique defense/reproductive methods.

We see bodies that have long been overgrown with various plants and fungi, taken over completely, these people’s insides are no longer their own they now belong to these organisms, they have become food.

Early on we see Hollow, a parasitic creature with physic powers, paralyze kamen. It paralyzes him in a trance and then puts a black sludge into him. In an off-putting scene we see him forced to ingest it. Eventually hollow will ingest him and insert an umbilical cord like appendage into him, he is connected to the creature and his body is being sustained by it.

At one point we see Sam get pricked by a plant like entity. This entity creates a zombie like clone of him. We see this same entity create a copy of a mammal like creature and watch that clone bulge out and explode into an acidic substance.

This plant pricking Sam spreads some sort of poison up his arm, sickening him and disfiguring his arm for a time. We see Ursula’s horrified face when she sees how the poison has affected him.

He gets cured from the poison by a seemingly helpful old woman however we quickly realize that all is not as it seems and she has been completely taken over by a parasitic monstrosity. This creature uses its controlled hosts to transform their bodies to be able to produce more of these heart like things. Once planted into a victim they spread vein like appendages throughout their host, they change their body in such a Way that they can produce and cough up these same seeds.

It’s rooted in Sam’s body and keeping him alive, it controls his mood and influences his behavior. Causing him to think everything is ok when in reality he’s no longer fully in control of his decisions. He eventually rips it out of himself, and without it he dies.

Throughout the series the planet seeks to engulf people into its ecosystem, they are food here, they are a means to reproduce and nothing more. Their bodies don’t belong to them as far as the life forms are concerned here.

The planets forces the former crew of the Demeter to realize that their bodies can be completely taken over. They have to fight to maintain their autonomy.

Even the ship the crew came on has been over grown by plants.

The last example I will look at is Levi. Levi has some sort of spore/fungal like entity take root in them. Azi is deeply disturbed by this at first, trying to remove the fungal infection. Only in this case Levi eventually is able to become one with this spore, and they become something even more then they started out as, capable of feeling and pain.

Scavengers reign forces us to come to terms that ultimately our bodies will return to the ground. Nature will reclaim its own. In the end the crew had to learn to live along side the planet after being stuck there, and not fight it. They became part of the ecosystem.

New Revice au!

Because my Revice brainrot is never ending.

Anyways, so this one is sort of a role swap au. In where the Igarashi siblings take the role of Aguilera, Orteca, and Julio. Meanwhile, Hana, Hikaru, and Tamaki take over the igarashi siblings' role. How I imagine it plays is that Yukimi in this au is a part of the Giff Cult as a project leader. Her project involved creating descendants of Giff to lead their cult in the near future of their lord's awakening. Her test subject is Genta, who has already become Kamen Rider Vail. She manages to get some genetic samples from him (how I don't want to say). Around the same time, Karizaki Sr. breaks Genta out of the facility, with some help from outside forces, and the two go on the run. Due to the fact that they already have genetic samples of someone with Giff's blood already, they cut their losses and scrap the whole kamen rider project, allowing Yukimi to gain more funding for her own little project. Over the next few years, Genta and Karizaki Sr would form Weekend and try to put a stop to the cult slowly and in the shadows. Around 8 years later, Genta would come across what was supposed to be a hideout for the cult as Kamen Rider Vail, but all that was left was a servant clinging to life, handing over to him a little girl who was supposed to be the bride of Giff but plans changed. So Genta, not being the type to abandon a homeless child and also out of grief for the loss of his own family, takes in the girl and names her Hana. Of course, a few years later, Genta also picks up a grieving Hikaru who just watched his parents get murdered by demons. So Genta has two kids now. He picks up a third one when Hana and Hikaru start to attend high school years later and befriend Tamaki. Genta and Vail in this AU would have a far better relationship than in cannon, mostly because Genta was alone and Vail was the only person he had. Genta does sometimes do odd jobs for Weekend as a kamen rider, but he is mostly retired from that life because he has kids to focus on. I will update the AU when more inspiration strikes

Oooh. I've seen a fic where the Igarashi sibs and the Deadman trio switch places before, but otherwise this AU is quite different from that one. I love to see where you take it

I've been at work so sorry that this is late, but throighout most of the show, Fuwa is basically the user/owner of the Shooting Wolf Progrisekey, which he uses to transform into Kamen Rider Vulcan, and at the end of Vulcan and Valkyrie (the second Zero-One V-Cine), Fuwa basically dies after battling and defeating the combined force of Metsuboujinrai (who, at this point, is a rider that has all four of their mental forces within the same body).
