         The Orangery Palace is more than just the winter quarters for the tropical plants in Sanssouci Park. This is where you’ll find yourselves in the Rome of the North. Its architecture reflects the late 16th century Villa Medici in Rome. King Frederick William IV possessed such a great fondness for Italy that he quickly replicated the buildings he had seen and admired on his travels to Rome, bringing them to Potsdam. It is therefore not surprising that the king himself made numerous sketches for the Orangery Palace, which were used as the basis of the architectural designs by Friedrich August Stüler and Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse. Photo: SPSG P.S.: The Museum Barberini has developed a city walking tour audio guide as part of its app. On the tour, you’ll learn a great deal about 30 buildings and artworks based on Italian examples that were created in Potsdam during the 18th and 19th centuries.

🪙 Recently @spsgmuseum made an interesting series of Neues Palais of Potsdam, and inevitably, I virtually traveled to 2017, when in a sunny september I visited some of the magnificent Prussian palaces and castles. Here I repost one of my favorite rooms and corners of this massive building created by Jean-Laurent Le Geay, Johann Gottfried Büring, Heinrich Ludwig Manger and Carl Philip Christian von Gontard: it is the silver concert room, one of the best examples, in my opinion, of Federician rococó. 🏛The perfect artistic back to basics in the best city ever: Rome Last week I was rediscovering the eternal city just to understand 6-7 years of photographic travels around Great Britain, France, Germany or Spain. Now I have all the precedents to overhaul my experiences in Potsdam (@spsgmuseum), Syon House (@syonparkofficial), La Casa del Labrador (@patrimnacional), or the Château de Versailles (@chateauversailles) - 📌On this image, Nile, a colossal statue found in 1513 in the Campo Marzio. It is located since the 1822 in the new wing of Vatican Museums, built specifically when all the works plundered by Napoleon Bonaparte were returned to Pope Pius VII.
