Thursday, July 4: Anthrax, "S.S.C./Stand or Fall"
Besides just being awesome and a significant step up for Anthrax, Spreading the Disease established general ways of working for the band as Charlie Benante took over as chief composer while Scott Ian covered lyrics and played all rhythm guitar in the studio.  Even so, the band was still honing its chemistry and intra-band dynamics at this stage, so there was still room for Danny Spitz to insert a little showcase for himself immediately before “Stand or Fall” slammed and pounded its self-deterministic message like a captive bolt stunner.  The track was a bit boilerplate, even by 1985 thrash standards, but Anthrax’s energy was a personality trait unto itself and did a lot of the lifting.  And the fact that Joey Belladonna was far more Steve Perry than Paul Baloff proved to be a major differentiator, as having a non-thrash singer wail away with sincerity while Scott and Frankie Bello shouted about standing or falling gave the tune both power and a distinct goofy charm.  “S.S.C./Stand or Fall” largely emphasized Anthrax’s genuine love for this music and their joy in getting to play it, and in some ways they would never sound this joyous or charming again.

(274) Anthrax: Worst-to-Best
Disciples!! We did it – we got through the Big 4*! While we’re fans of all of the bands involved, just like the others – Anthrax has a lot of good albums, and some that are less-so. Hell – even the fans can’t agree. But Anthrax has one thing those others don’t – 2 different singers. (3 if you count Neil Turbin.) How will the releases stack up, and is ‘Fistful of Metal’ their best ever?Crank it up…

Fanart of @snaileer 's tumblr ficlet 'Everyone Loves a 2-for-1 Sale' where a very disgruntled Danny gets stuck in the body of a clone.
There's like two lines where his new lil' outfit is descriped and I guess I got possessed by the ghost of Edna "E" Mode or something. I like sketching out superhero outfits but I hate drawing capes.

youtube shorts is just tiktok without being on the app the amount of "i'm a [qualification] and [misinformation]" could make one turn their skin inside-out in protest. "i'm a board-certified OB-GYN & it's only been about the last hundred years that women have actually experienced menopause. We didn't live long enough to experience it" how can you be so incredibly wrong about something so integral to your practice. King of the Hittites Hattusilis III was told in 1250 BCE that his sister was too old to reproduce at age 50+. Aristotle wrote in the 4th century BCE that women stopped menstruating between ages 40 to 50, common menopause ages today still. i cannot begin to tell you how 4th century & 1250 BCE don't really count as "the last hundred years" unless that -s is doing a lot of heavy lifting. waiter waiter more misinformation laws.
