This is... Very much self-indulgent and for my own comfort right now. So, excuse anything that may be off, or a bit OOC. TW: Apathy crisis, existential crisis.
Cronus Ampora x Reader - Apathy
Cronus was never the smartest fish in the sea when dealing with people, especially when it is other's feelings. He may seem like the emotional type of guy (he has cried multiple times for human love songs), but dealing with others is way out of his league. He - and the rest of the Beforus trolls for that matter - keep wondering how he managed to actually score one. He was used to shooting his shot at others and missing by well over a mile, so his oh-so-not-smooth flirts actually hitting a soft spot for you made him lose his composure, and get fidgety. An adorable view, truly. Though in past times his bluntness and lack of emotional knowledge never affected you, it seemed as though fate had other plans. Apathy. Something all 13 of you have become used, almost acquaintances to. Sadly, being used does not mean it is easy to deal with. Some of you, like Meulin and Rufioh, have mastered the art of surrounding yourself with others to get better. Latula and Porrim tend to dive into hobbies to lessen the effects. You? Oh... Even after what seemed like thousands of years, it is a mystery what actually helps you. That is why, this time, Cronus went too far for you. It was simple, you were faking till you got better, but he ran his mouth too much. "Heyy~ hot stuff, are ya mad at somefin? Did'ya stub yer toes? Ya so dry it shorelly must'vwe been somefin goin' on." A pause, and an answer "I don't know what you're talking about Cro." "Huh? C'mon, bae~ Lemme guess... Meenah talked shit 'bout yer hair?" "Is... there something with my hair?" "wvah- NONONO! No it, uh, it looks as great as ya! Like alwvays, I just, uh, y'knowv howv she can get, haha!" You knew he was not trying to make you mad, yet... He didn't seem charming when being a dork, this time. Your pause, the look in your void white eyes that stared at his, and your look at the distance. That showed him something really was up. And also that he fucked up big time by running his mouth today. "Hey... Hey, look at me." "What?" "Y'knowv ya can trust me, right? Ya been here for me, wvhat good of a matesprit wvould I be if I didn't do the same?" ... "It's the... the thing, again. This stupid thinkpan of mine can't seem to co-work with my bloodpumper. It's like... Y'know how, like, sometimes the reality hits us? that... that we are gonna be here, forever. We will never grow old, travel the world, or... or have a life, again. We are stuck in the bubbles, and we don't have a future ahead of us anymore. Any... certainty we had once, from the moment our session ended, it will never occur, like, ever again." "Wvoah..." It took a while, the two of you staring at the abyss, on the edge of the dreambubble you two have been sitting on, a special place for you, as this is one of your bubbles. No one said anything. You couldn't feel uncomfortable, at that moment. The lack of emotions took a deep toll on you, but you instinctively looked at Cronus. When he looked at you, however, he didn't seem worried. Or afraid. He took his goofy fake 'human' cigarette put it on the corner of his mouth, and gave you his side grin. Not the smug one, the one he puts whenever he is really confident about what he is going to say. "I mean, ya not wvrong, by any means but... heh... Do ya think it is bad? I mean, hey! Wve are gonna be all here forevwer, so that means wve can at least, like, be together for eternity or wvathevwer. I used to be pretty damn bad wvith these apathy shellnanigans but... I'm not really that afraid anemonemore. I havwe the best fuckin' matesprit in the wvhole 'bubbles and, like, I'm pretty damn shore I can live the rest of a boring eternity if I havwe ya to make it interestin'!" As you two stared to the far, far void of nothing, outside the bubble, you instinctively reached a hand on top of his, which, as always, sent his face into a violet blush mess, and managed to drag a smile and chuckle out of you. "Can't complain with that, really."

An actual summary of Homestuck Act 6's intermissions
by someone who’s a page away from Collide
Let’s do this lightning-round style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After breaking through the fourth wall on the ship and getting the Gift of Gab (lol), John and Jade prepare for a three-year-long voyage to meet up with the gang, with Davesprite, Nannasprite, and a variety of other faces in tow. They write a letter for the crew.
The Monarch (previously the Mendicant) and the firefly buddy (I've forgotten their name) plead for the Vagabond's life. She takes him to the trolls and kid's rendezvous spot.
The trolls finally meet up with Dave and Rose, who have indeed reached God Tier. Half-dead Sollux and GT Aradia show up as well. They plan to host a "funeral" for Sollux, who is just sort of watching in disgust.
After Karkat's bucket-human-troll-sloppy-fueled breakdown from John's letter, the Vagabond, and the firefly show up, and the gang sets off through the Furthest Ring.
Intermission 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hussie, who was taking care of Spades Slick after he fucking killed the world by shooting Snowman, is shot dead by Lord English. I'm sure he'll show up later though. They always do.
It's been about a year in between the intermissions. While Rose explains what the Scratch did, Karkat attempts to explain the troll love quadrants to Dave. They draw dicks, fight, Dave wins by a mile through the suplex
Meanwhile, John, Jade and friends play the Ghostbusters II MMORPG, which is hilarious that that is even a thing in the first place. Jaspersprite sings a birthday song for him, Jade gets dogmad, which causes John to black out.
After getting harrassed by an eepy Roxy, John encounters Meenah (the best character!!!!!) for the first time. He takes a trident from her and wakes back up.
In a dream bubble, Terezi meets Aranea (second best character!!!!), who offers her to heal her sight. In another dream bubble, Hussie proposes to Vriska with a ring. Because of course he does.
Intermission 3 (and some other stuff)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aranea invites Jake to Meenah's dream bubble, where she finds quite a lot of fighting happening. After telling a story of the Condensce, Jake embarrasses himself by attempting to wallop Meenah. He wakes up after getting whacked, but Brain Ghost Dirk sticks around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a "quick" game of Meenah Quest, we get a glimpse of what John and Jade are up to; watching Con Air baybee!!!! Except John has a big freakout over hating the movie, hating Davesprite, and passes out. What a guy.
PM and Noir are locked in chase before they enter a bubble of Jack's own massacre of the Battlefield, before John awakens and fights him. Rose shows up for a brief second and John uses his cool-ass windy powers as well.
After the battle, John wanders into a desert, finds a ring, and finds Tavros (wHO DESPERATELY WANTS THE RING,) and Vriska. She shares her plan to find a treasure that'll defeat Lord English.
After another game of Meenah Quest (where she unsuccessfully gets no one on her team), we go back to the meteor, where Rose drinks and forgets her date with Kanaya (best couple. fight me) and then falls down the stairs. They warned her, dog.
John wakes up with the ring, soyjaks, and the intermission ends.
Intermission 5 (CALIBORN TOOK uP THE LAST SPOT)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dave and Karkat intervene Terezi, who is a massive wreck because of her degrading romance with Gamzee and letting Aranea heal her eyesight.
John, Vriska, Aranea, Meenah and Aradia find a big green cave in a dream bubble, where they also find a juju. It's the Homestuck House! John sticks his hand in it, his arm appears throughout multiple points in the comic, and then voops out of reality completely. He has an INTENSE STAREDOWN with Caliborn and wakes up on LOMAX, Jake's planet.
I don't usually do this but
(skips many, many important bits and pieces)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vriska comes back (thanks to John's time shenanigans), plans out everything to come and verbally abuses her ghost self, Dave and Dirk have a feelings jam, dead pre-retcon Terezi and Ghost Vriska rejoice in facing the end, and everybody just about gets ready to
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Collide.
This has been by far one of the most bonkers pieces of fiction I have ever read, and nothing gets me more excited than to see all of it come together and wrap all of it up, I hope. Also Caliborn and Calliope are one of the best "Jekyll/Hyde" characters I've seen in a long while!
Whatever lies on the other side of that hyperlink, I sure hope it'll be good.

"OH my god, Anon! [Feferi]'s PETA!"
spot on on, because if meenah is more like caliborn, feferi is more like calliope. and thats how you get beforus, a nanny state planet that pretends to be an utopia. tumblr. speaking of which.
I'm cool with whatever people do in their spare time, you know, you do you. But what ticks me off is when they start acting all authoritarian with their headcanons, insisting they are canon and claiming others are clueless, ignorant, illiterate, tone-deaf, every internalized or externalized -ist and -phobic under the sun etc for not seeing it that way. Treating fictional characters with more decency than they do with real people essentially. So because I dont give a single iota of a fuck anymore, let me call out this retarded fandom that butterfly effected all western fandoms turning into warzones and hussies lazy hack ass really quick.
Here's the deal: Some people really just wanna show off how "woke" they are to others, so they slap labels like they're trendy accessories and project onto characters without giving a damn about their background or personality. That usually backfires and ends up with pretty darn terrible results. We all know this, we've heard the HS2 horror stories. And that's exactly what went down here again.
Because, lately, there's this, as I said let's call it headcanon, floating around insisting that the Vantases, Kankri in particular, are canonically aromantic asexual (aroace). The Vantases are the worst possible candidates in the whole webcomic for this. Why?
1: celibacy ≠ aroace. first one is not an orientation, but a choice to abstain from acting on attraction. and the other IS a orientation, not a choice, where you feel little to no romantic or sexual attraction. so much for respecting some people's identities and values. If the vantases HAVE to be assigned a human label despite being fucking aliens, why not demisexual???? kankri even asks karkat if he might be "panquadrantic demiromantic", doesnt that fit how the signless took time to open his heart to the disciple and had a love that went beyond all quadrants with her?
they are both HORNY and THIRSTY as hell for the pyropes, the captors, the leijons, john egbert, i dont fucking know, take your pick. make them fuck a clown. That's why Karkat is obsessed with romance and Kankri panders so hard, they are both that pathetically desperate for someone to connect and care for them back as obsessively intense as they are with everything.
3: Some previous anon pointed out how HIC, besides being an authoritarian tyrant that wanted galaxy-wide conquest, is an eugenicist fascist. Yes. She genocided limebloods. So did Beforan Feferi actually. And you know Karkat's handle? carcinogeneticist? How he inherited the Signless's burden? These things are all related, and let me use a comparison to explain how or why. Imposing this label onto them would be as perplexing as suggesting that Aang from THE LAST AIRBENDER, being a monk, should also be aroace. Right after all the airbenders were wiped out by firebenders, also authoritarian tyrants that wanted world conquest. Do you see the parallels? Karkat and Kankri have significant self-esteem issues, stemming from their mutant blood, from which bloodcaste they mutated from? Limebloods. The caste that has faced intense persecution, to the extent of genocide, on BOTH planets, resulting in their GENETIC LINEAGE being wiped out from the troll GENE POOL. Limebloods are EXTINCT. That's why their mutancy is their burden, it saved them from being killed, but condemned both to a lifetime of suffering and hiding under the same culling regime that killed their kin. And that's why the burden is the responsibility of revitalizing their bloodcaste BY PROCREATING. ADDING THEIR GENES TO THE TROLL GENE POOL. But because both Karkat and Kankri are fucking idiots with crippling self-esteem issues and Hussie wrote with his asscheeks, what did these two chucklefucks do instead? One praised the Empress that wanted to kill him and wanted to become her thresecutioner, and out of desperation did the devil's tango with the worst and most disgusting vile living being available, a hussie self-insert. And the other became fucking CELIBATE to focus on what was truly important to oppose the regime he disagreed with… performative bullshit that nobody asked him to care about, overcorrecting to the point of being even more offensive than the start, and not actually solving any problems but creating more. To make "progress as a civilization" with trigger warnings, HE DIDN'T PRESERVE THE FUTURE OF HIS OWN BLOODCASTE. NEITHER DID KARKAT WHO WAS TOO BUSY WATCHING MOVIES. And that was actually clever writing, because if you are a fandom activist who hates kankri, and also think hes unironically aroace because he's celibate, congratulations! You fell for the trap, youre exactly the kind of person Kankri is satirizing, he also missed the point by hyperfocusing on labels and hating himself, and like a self fulfilling prophecy, became the same thing that he was fighting against without realizing because he unwittingly ended up aiding troll eugenics by doing the hard work and taking himself out of the dating pool!
So next time you see a pretentious writer vagueposting about you or your interpretation of a character or guilt tripping you because you dont adhere to their offensive stereotypes, check if they headcanon Kankri as aroace, and if they do, you can simply smile and rest assured knowing that nothing you do will ever be as disconnected from reality or as far off the mark regarding character interpretation as that. Why would you listen to these evil people? Are you like Hussie?
That is truly why Davekat really fucking sucks and always fucking will,
Because not only did it ruin everything with their nonexistant chemistry-less relationship but because thanks to it and pandering to its stans, Sea Hitler won and both muties are out of the gene pool and limebloods remain extinct. That IS actually canon.
And while Johnkat and Jadekat are excellent, Karkat and Kankri's harem of trolls is better than davekat. Suck my dick.
PD: What's that? Baby HIC married Karkat? Doesn't surprise me. Grooming kids is her whole thing. There really was no excuse for not making Karkat fuck Sollux or Terezi instead.

hey, i loved both your damara and meehna writings, can you do some damara x reader x meenah hcs? where the reader is new to the dreambubbles and the two are fighting each other to make the reader their darling? thank you sm <3
Here you go! Hope you enjoy :>
---
💋 Oh no. Oh noooo, I do not envy your position. But, it's not all bad, of course. At least, not at first. Having no prior experience with any version of Damara, or really, any of the Alpha trolls, it automatically puts you in Damara's good graces. A new face is always welcome amongst the ones of those who betrayed, disrespected, and hurt her. She's more than willing to help you out and provide company. You both seem to get on really well together and become fast friends. Though, it is odd how whenever you try to get close to another Troll, she's immediately there to redirect the conversation or find some way to weasel you out of talking with them, sometimes even taking you by the shoulders to steer you away. Maybe she's just protective? She did mention something about bad blood between them.
👑 Damara hadn't considered worrying about Meenah, though. Meenah, or at least her Meenah, had spent much of her afterlife cooped up within the confines of her castle. Of course. Explode them all to kingdom come and then run and hide after shit goes down. And who's left to deal with the aftermath? Everyone one. It's just like her. But, she could at least be thankful that Meenah's too busy submerging herself in the past. Or, that's what she had thought. She had lost you amongst a crowd of dream bubble doubles of herself and old so-called 'friends', panic gripping her bliodpusher as she searched desperately to find you, only to stumble out into a clearing. Craning her head wildly to spot you, she froze. She had found you, yes, but Meenah had gotten to you first, talking animatedly at you before locking milky-white, dead eyes with Damara.
"Ay, Damz, hook who I found! We were just talkin' aboat ya!"
💋 It nearly made the rustblood boil over with rage as she sat and listened to Meenah talk and talk and talk - about herself, her wealth, her status. As if any of that even mattered anymore. As if she isn't the one who killed and fucked with them all. As if you needed to hear any of this. But, she couldn't just drag you away from the seadweller now, not when you've made an actual connection with her. None of her usual ways to get out of interacting with her old friend group couldn't work either, now that she had a reputation to uphold to for you. Not to mention that Meenah was probably the only one scummy enough to spill about Damara's past to you, so she must settle on sitting with you and stewing in rage at the sound of Meenah's voice, all while making biting comments in Eastern Alternian that she hoped you couldn't understand.
👑 Oh, Meenah was happy as a clam! Oh, how lucky was she to run into a cutie like you, huh? Someone who could fall into her good graces just by some nice words and grand tales, all while Damara couldn't do a thing aboat it! That's what the beach gets! Shows her, krilling a gill like that… Well, not that Meenah's record gad exactly been squeaky clean, either, but you didn't need to know about either of that! You just needed to be blissfully unaware of any, uh, "drama." Oh, and not to leave her, of course. It's not like Meenah could help it! What could she say, she's a girl who like having things. And she wants to have you! Her arm around your shoulder, a hand clasped either yours, snickering together as she softly bumped her forehead against yours. It was… Sweet. Something Meenah thought she might be able to do forever. And it had the added benefit of making Damara bright red with rage.
💋 But, eventually, like with everything else, Meenah crossed the line. She could have kept her mouth shut and rode out the tentative agreement between her and Damara to 'share' you, but of course not. That's what Damara remembered most. Meenah liked pushing things. Pushing issues, pushing her friends into doing things for her, pushing trolls around. And the heiress hadn't changed one bit. Meenah had pulled her aside with a grin, saying they needed to talk. Meenah wanted more from you. More from you that she 'knew' you didn't want from Damara. So, like a good friend should, she could just… Take you off her hands, you know? Meenah knew Damara was too scared to actually make a move on you, so Meenah might as well be the one to have you to herself. She took Damara's silent, shaking rage as permission, grin nearly splitting her lips. She had finally done it. She was finally superior to Damara again. She could do whatever she wanted to her now, just like before! All was right with paradox space again. And as she turned to walk away and claim you as her prize, Damara Megido finally snapped.
👑 Your fronds friends (or… something more?) had been gone only for a few minutes, but you were starting to feel anxious. You couldn't remember the last time you'd been on your own for so long. Getting up to look around, your eyes widened as you noticed a large crowd forming. Making your way over, you noticed familiar voices screaming over the murmurs of the crowd. Your friends were in there! Diving and pushing through the crowd of ghosts, you eventually made your way to the front, panting and almost falling over. Your momentary exhaustion was replaced by pure adrenaline as you took in the sight before you. Damara straddled Meenah by the waist, shoving her face into the dirt with one hand and the other scratching deep into her stomach. They were both bloodied and covered in bruises. Damara's hair had become unraveled and messy, giving Meenah the opportunity to pull hard on it as she squirmed on the ground, her maw of razor sharp teeth opened and closed like a bear trap, trying to bite down on something. Meenah scrambled with her free hand and found purchase on Damara's shirt, pulling her forward and knocking their heads together as they both screamed in unison,
"THEY'RE MINE!!!"

Yay! The request is open! :D
Could you do the request I ask you other day? The one with Meenah having pitch feeling for human or Gamzee?
I don't have much practice on writing pitch so I hope you still like it!
Yandere! Meenah Peixes feeling pitched for a Human
Pairing: Pitch/Kismesis ♠️
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Human/Troll relationship, Manipulation, Entitlement, Culture shock, Black romance courting, Kissing/Biting mention, Isolation mentioned, Forced relationship.
Tumblr media
The whole thing is certainly confusing for you.
Humans have no real counterpart for black romances like Trolls
Meenah doesn't quite understand it herself at first.
Supposedly signs of a black crush include hating someone but not really understanding why.
Meenah, for some reason, harbors a special kind of hate for you… one she can't seem to get rid of.
She doesn't get it either, it's not like you did anything.
You're just a human she met-
Despite this Meenah finds herself picking up on your traits, especially your flaws.
You're already on edge around Meenah.
Her base personality is aggressive, rude, sarcastic, and mean to generally everyone.
Her trying to pursue black romance with you just feels like her… except very condescending and probably worse.
Meenah's black feelings probably just feel like bullying to you as a human.
Or some odd attempt to start a rivalry.
It's like Meenah is trying to coax out the same reaction from you.
The point of a Kismesis is supposedly to have both parties better each other by recognizing their flaws, similar to other quadrants.
However this romance is much more volatile, even with the right pairs.
Meenah already feels a bit weird trying to teach a human such a thing.
Yet not enough to stop pursuing you.
Yeah, poor thing, you're confused and she is too.
That is until someone tells her what these feelings are coming from.
Aranea may tell Meenah she feels pitch for you, for some reason she feels she'd love this human if not for their flaws… making her pitch for them.
Meenah's confusion lessens when she has her theories confirmed, your confusion is still rather present.
Even when you have someone like Karkat try to explain the caliginous black romance quadrant, you just grow concerned.
As a human you want nothing to do with such a thing.
To you it probably sounds like some sort of alien hate mating thing and it doesn't appeal to you.
This may result in you trying to distance yourself from Meenah, which only fuels her black hate.
In fact… a lot of what you do fuels her feelings, that's the frustrating part.
If you attempt to be friends, if you try to avoid her, if you express annoyance or hate towards her…
It all feeds the obsession.
It only makes Meenah want to pursue you more, even if you don't understand how troll romance works.
If anything, she can take the hate you're festering for her as the start of black romance.
Even if you don't mean to do that….
What's worse is Meenah is an entitled troll.
She feels she deserves you and shows aggression towards others with you.
If anyone doesn't like you she'll take it as them taking her spot.
Then there's the issue that black romance can affect other relationships, which may drive her to isolate you.
In her eyes she feels she's the only one you deserve, flaws and all.
Only she can pick you apart all while kissing your face and nipping your lips until you bleed.
If this makes you hate her, then she's only winning.
Making you hate her will make her quadrant feel complete.
Meenah already knows she'll have you as her Kismesis… it's just a matter of when.

A follow up to this post, except this time around I’m much less confident.
Tumblr media
The problem with the dancestos is the fact that with how little information we have about them, most of it really boils down to how you interpret them, so I guess this is my interpretation of the canon dancestors.
...That I might change my mind about later.
Seriously. Take it with a grain of salt.
GOOD
Lawful -
Latula - I was considering her to be a Neutral Good, but after some thinking I’ve decided Lawful might be a bit more accurrate. The type of person to follow her personal code, that would also be devastated if she ended up breaking it.
Neutral -
Meulin - she’s genuinely very nice.
Mituna - he’s an asshole, but will go out of his way to save everybody if they need saving.
Chaotic -
Aranea - as much as she’d like to be seen as a Lawful Good, lawful she is not. Does what she considers the best course of action. Well-intentioned with questionable methods. / Snap!Aranea is probably a Chaotic Evil. Does what she wants with little regard to anybody.
Kankri - another case of “wants to be seen as a Lawful Good, but isn’t one”. Heart in the right place, but extremely overzealous. Tries to set rules that he ends up not following himself. Interrupting any potential signs of conflicts between his friends as we speak. Really, though, his time in the bubbles is apparently spent on quelling any arguments, whether they’re happening or not.
NEUTRAL
Lawful -
Cronus - he’s, well, awful, but I can’t exactly bring myself to see him as Evil. Mostly keeps to himself (unless he spots anything that breathes. or doesn’t. he’s not picky...), believes in the hemospectrum even though clamis not to... Has some patterns he follows and is genuinely unpleasant, but that’s kinda it. I genuinely considered him as Neutral Evil, but tbh, I feel like he’s the type who’d pretend to be a neutral evil, but it just lacks the necessary heat, y’know? Things might’ve looked a bit different before, though, he did mention something about trying to tone it down with aggessiveness.
Horuss - he’s also awful, but not awful enough to be declared evil, even though I considered him as Neutral Evil, too. STRONGLY believes in rules and hierarchy, but is too selfish to be good, and just not enough malevolent to be evil.
Chaotic -
Rufioh & Porrim - both are very self-centered and value their own freedom above anybody else’s. Easily disregard others’ feelings, but aren’t exactly malevolent, either.
EVIL
Lawful -
Kurloz - unpopular(?) opinion, he gives me a much more “Lawful Evil” vibe than Chaotic. Gamzee’s more of a nihilistic force of destruction, Kurloz is an actual zealot. He’s dedicated to his cult enough he’d bite his own tongue off if he were to even consider something blasphemous.
Meenah - she’s awful. Really awful. But also not very dedicated to anything. Would sell you to the Mirthfull Messiahs for some pyrite. But her destructiveness comes and goes like waves, fittingly.
Snap!Damara - jumping around the timeline and causing absolute mayhem? That’s a force of destruction if you’d seen one. She seems to have calmed down in the bubbles but... has she? That unpredictability sure adds to everything. / Pre-Snap!Damara... no idea, honestly, we’ve never met her, only heard some stuff from very unreliable people. I’d like for to be a True Neutral, bc that empty spot annoys me, lmao. Might’ve been a Neutral Good, tho.

The Era of Her Imperious Condescension in Exile The Northern Wastes, Alternia Fortunately, Karkat was standing alone on the deck when Kanaya found him. That would make having this conversation a lot easier. She needed him to listen to her for once. Or, she supposed, that wasn’t being entirely fair to him — he usually listened to her to a fault. But this was something where they needed to be completely clear, because the Olive was rapidly hurtling toward the Imperial City, and the lack of contact with RAE Fleet ships was making her nervous. Sollux had been working with Aradia to make a device to hone in on the specific location of the transmission. The Captain was getting everything ready for what looked like a major confrontation — it seemed like she had her eyes set on the prize of whatever Imperial City held as much as anyone else, whether or not this was originally a transport gig. So things were about to get very serious, and she needed Karkat to know what was going on. “Karkat, we need to talk.” Kanaya wanted this to sound as serious — as dire — as possible. He turned to look at her, took one look at her face, and thick frown lines crossed his expression. “You’ve got this fucked-up we need to talk look on your face.” She hesitated for a minute. “Yes, that’s what I said — we need to talk.” “Right, it’s just… you look like… you know what, never fucking mind.” He glanced around the deck. “Is this the kind of conversation you don’t want overheard or something?” At least he understood the gravity of things. “Yes. There’s a spot near the back of the ship.”

The Page of Rage.
The Page class is one who starts off not fully attuned to their aspect but over time through some form of guidance (be it positive or negative) they will become useful towards other characters or a task for them with their aspect playing a major part in accomplishing that goal. Aranea had the moment where she utilized Jake's hope powers to cause mayhem in the game over timeline, and Tavros had the instance where he changed the minds of a bunch of ghosts to create help Vriska & Meenah's ghost army. Depending on the character/group they are working with, the Page may be manipulative & exploited to be a utility for a character or just serve as someone who is servicing the other characters and their goals.
Rage exists as the opposite of Hope, an aspect that is all about the actual reality that we are in, doubt and confusion about what isn't certain, it is associated with anger and aggression which shouldn't be too shocking as it is called 'Rage'. To contrast with Hope, it seems to represent more about 'inner demons', the cold hard truths of reality, and physical power as opposed to magical power. The Rage aspect is in an awkward spot, as both characters in HS who are of the rage aspect are both of the destruction class and have an antagonistic role in the story (even if Kurloz's 'role' as an antagonist is very minor). I don't think Rage needs to be tied down to an antagonistic role, however given the negative and aggressive associations with this aspect, it could be easy to lump in a character into that spot.
The Page of Rage is going to start off not being attuned to their aspect. They either will come off oblivious to their aspect try to convince themselves that their aspect is a core part of their character, but it really hasn't gotten to that point yet. Other characters are going to prod the page, either intentionally or unintentionally which will eventually result in the Page being a utility for the characters who prodded them, the group, or for a task/mission/goal. The actual ways they could be used could vary and Page could do something which has an actual 'action', however it only happened after a long time of getting them into the situation where they can be useful.
The actual powers are probably going to involve immense amounts of physical violence and potentially spreading out anger and aggression or other associated feelings the rage aspect has such as the cold hard truth, doubt and confusion towards realities people thought they believed in. This could be as simple as egging on a Page to fight a cult leader who claims they are invincible and showing their followers that they are a false prophet, only for the character that was egging on to take advantage of the chaos left by the Page's action and do some work there.
One example of a Page of Rage could be someone who is trying to be the "next Joker", they are someone who tries to be antagonistc, tries to ruffle feathers with people, and maybe even claims they are going to start a revolution. However, some other characters take wind of the Page of Rage and can see that they have potential in being an actual trouble maker. The Page desires to be some kind of revolutionary clown who is tring to fuck with people, so why not take advantage of that person and make them work for you.
This may be kind of half-assed to not go fully into detail here, but I think a good example of a Page of Rage outside of Homestuck is probably going to be Anakin Skywalker and even Darth Vader to an extent. (Based on the movies alone). If you think about Young Anakin, he was foretold to not exactly be a great person to train, as the council of Jedi saw 'darkness in him'. This darkness of course was exploited by the emperorer who started corrupting him over to the 'dark side'. He did a lot of acts in anger and frustration, which led to the downfall of the Jedi. Even in 4, 5, and 6 he is still a tool working under the emperor who is using him as a tool. Maybe someone who is more of a Star Wars fan can sort of see what I'm getting at with this.

Omg so your fucking right about the theif of life thing and her cuttlefish coddling!
I was thinking it more so how like, even in beforus Feferi still doesnt allow lime blood to be alive, theyre STILL illegal or however the proper term is, like even when her whole culture is based on white savoir complex, the more privileged and impowered looking after their, ahem, "lessers"... there is still a whole ass caste of trolls she has culled on the spot.
I wasnt thinking how deep it actually went beyond it just...stuck with me, even after being in this fandom for a DECADE it so still always bugged me Feferi was in the end, in some ways just as bad as Meeneh, allowing a whole caste of trolls just... die, and i dont even remember if a valid reason was ever given as to why.
Her cruelity had a gentle mask of kindness to it, when you sit down and realize oh yeah, like lime genocide happens in BOTH versions...yeah.
If not killed, then Beforus Feferi may have limebloods all sealed up in some camp/prison to try and treat them. Just like how she had put cuttlefishes in cages and she keeps them until they 'get better'. Feferi is more like a toxic positivity. Thinking that if everyone is treated equally, there won't be any problems. Not counting in the factor about trolls' violent nature still seeded within (as it shown that Meenah had the urge on wanting to kill Feferi upon seeing her), the different lifespans based on the blood color, how some trolls could gain special abilities (psychic or psiionic powers, super strength if you take in factor for someone like Equius) and if they will use it for good or nefarious purposes, etc. Eridan may have some footing to stand on since he does not agree with Feferi's ideals. Karkat could even have been one to call out Feferi's ruling and that's why the previous session got fucked over so that they had to make a Scratch. Girl may have made the Dream Bubbles and was nicer to her lusus, but doesn't change the fact a version of herself made their dancestors all messed up in some ways that lead to their own existence to clean up their mess.

Inaugural Classpect Analysis Post: Witch of Life
Doing my own most recent one, Witch of Life, first, and then I'll probably work through more as they're requested or occur to me.
So, all right, let's get into it!
Tumblr media
There beneath the willow tree
I learned a lot about the way of things
I learned that everything (the wind, the leaves)
Has breath inside
~ There Beneath (The Oh Hellos)
Witch of Life is a difficult one because it's one of the canon matchups - my patron troll is actually Vriska, but I'm classpect and ezodiacmates with Feferi, whatever that might or might not mean for me (it means I have an evil fuchsia blorbo, for one).
For the gentle reader it means that Feferi is a canonical example whom we now have to analyze as realized or not, and we will get to that (which is also my opinion about her realization or not). But first we have to find out what a witch is, and what Life means in Homestuck.
So our canon witches are Feferi, Jade and Damara. The wiki tells us all kinds of things about witches, but it's actually all fanon, so we should be careful about how we handle things. It is true that witches are an active (-) class, but here's the rationale behind the fanon definition.
So, the best the fandom has been able to glean from Jade warping space, Feferi healing others and mimicking their abilities, and Damara ... um ... well, Damara, is that all three of them had the basic ability and inclination to fuck around with their aspect. Damara spent her Time Fucking Around until she was required to Fuck Around with Time; Feferi fucked around with the course of life (her animals) and with her own and other lives (her position on the hemospectrum) and with biology itself (every shown manifestation of her Lifey Thing); Jade lived out her life just sort of fucking around with and in space in general (where she lived, what she did in-session, why her dream self was always awake).
Thus, we can assume that the fanon definition of a witch as "one who manipulates or changes their aspect, and their world through it" is fairly spot-on. We may also define it more idiosyncratically as "one who has and uses the power to fuck around". Do they have to find out? Well, maybe not all the time -- certainly not as Doom or Void players...
Tumblr media
But let's continue on to considering Life, which is more complicated.
Clearly and obviously we know what Life usually symbolizes in video games, and we have our own preconceptions about it as an elemental force. But what does it mean in Homestuck, to SBURB's internal symbology? What sort of hero exactly is the lifekind (perchance)?
Sea Hitler, that's what kind. No, really, the only Life heroes we have are Her Imperious Condescension Meenah "Betty Crocker" Peixes, and her children (Feferi [biologically] and Jane [socially]). Sweet Baby Ray, what a lineup. I'd normally not even mention it on a blog like this, but in this specific context is it anything that I'm Jewish?
Fuckin eh. All right. Let's examine what it is that Fef, Meenah and Jane have in common as characters and in their arcs.
Tumblr media
To refresh:
Meenah, Jane and Fef are all "heiresses" of some sort.
Meenah and Feferi are young members of a rare troll biocaste destined to rule their world (if one of them can kill the other for it). It seems like they have a lot of agency in their world, but they don't really - at every step of their existence, the powers that be make decisions that affect them in deep and fundamental ways. Their only objective in life is really to survive it, for all however many billion years they're given.
It's my personal headcanon that mother grubs have some level of control over the brood. It's stated in canon that the "ancestor" relationship is rooted in some kind of an appreciation of a person's most similar predecessor. The genetic relationships between ancestors and descendants are probably not always literal (a person can be the centuries-delayed biological offspring of their ancestor, a biological sibling created from the same genetic material, or in fact the offspring or clone of a direct ancestor of their social ancestor, or something else).
I think if they can hold gametes for potentially centuries, they can also probably sort the material and consciously select the blood caste of their young. This means that mother grubs have the ability to choose when a new fuchsia is born. Of course, it's not like there's a strongly enforced law against just killing the resulting grubs, and raspberry syrup has to come from somewhere -- and that too is an administrative choice, made either directly by jades or by jades at the behest of the reigning Empress.
The point here is that for an Alternian heiress her entire continued existence is a matter of public opinion and the whims of her predecessor and the machinery of state, going all the way down to her own mother (which some of the hivebent adjacent stuff seems to imply might be an elite jade who undergoes some sort of helmsmanlike second metamorphosis rather than just the naturally occurring royal jelly-induced gyne I expected, which would add a circular dimension to this that is ... oddly horrifying. in your own fanon you can do what i do and ignore it if you want).
Enmeshment in this multigenerational spidernest of trauma is a really miserable way to live -- you constantly have to struggle to prove that you're worthy, that you deserve to live, that you're good enough and strong enough to be deemed fit to exist. And considering who Meenah is as a result, it's no wonder that the Condesce (as Betty Crocker) passed the intergenerational trauma torch to Jane.
Since they all fulfill the same culture role (albeit adapted for the colonized Earth in one case) and are directly socially related (Feferi is Meenah's successor in one timeline, Jane in another) we can meaningfully talk about the impact of the same system on all of them -- and about how they reconciled themselves to it, and what they did to fight for their own survival and right to growth.
It's that fight that's essential to the Life aspect -- the struggle to live, to thrive, no matter what, against all imaginable odds. Vitality, vigour, the state of life, the persistence of life against scrutiny and pathologization. Rejuvenation, plenty, and the ability to exert your will in your own life. The constant striving-to-be of all that is, and the way of things, which is comprised by it.
For Meenah, a Thief of Life, her relationship to her aspect was opportunistic and desperate -- she took whatever she could for her own benefit, and was willing to take considerable risks to fuck around and find out. Fuck her predecessor, fuck the system and fuck the entire world -- all of it had done nothing of any worth for her (as a person, as a child), and she felt within rights to claw everything out of it in revenge. Ultimately her hatred of and refusal to be beholden to the Alternian system, selfish and maladjusted as she was, led her to abdicate, run away, and enmesh her friends in the game, sealing their fates and giving her accidental control over their stolen lives. In that control she was manipulative and callous, sowed hostility among her acquaintances in the probably traumatic belief that struggle would help them survive. That's how she made it this far, isn't it?
For Jane, her alternate-universe daughter-figure and a Maid, her relationship to her aspect was servile and self-essentializing. Adult Meenah's parenting philosophy (if you can call it that) was a mirror of her AU self's style of play, with the same obsession with winning and the same roots in a simple wish to be good enough to live, good enough at living, good enough at helping others live.
With that kind of mother figure, even at the distance that they had, and with her other parent being AU Dad, it's no wonder that Jane (a Maid of Life) turned out the way she did -- initially a pushover, reliant on others for agency, for healing and to flourish. How else was she supposed to survive and preserve that thing most sacred to a child, the sense that things are as they should be?
It may also be worth exploring that Jane was a member of a species where all of one sex has the ability to reproduce, to create life and to know that they did so -- and Meenah was not, and their relationship was at least partly contextualized by that. But we can talk about that in a different post; what about Feferi?
Now that we've established an archetypal relationship between two people defined by the struggle that typifies Life players, and begun to shed light on a relation of Life to cycles (of cellular repair, of bad choices, of maturing, of abuse -- "that's just life, you know"?), we can talk about what it means that one part of this cycle tried to break it.
Feferi went out of her way to be as sweet as possible and to save the most possible lives -- bending the rules of struggle was the way she chose to respond to the pressure and the social dynamic that damaged Meenah and severely affected Jane.
She had absolutely no clue what she was doing at any point, but I think that's what typifies the idea of the Witch of Life to me: somebody who tries to understand, tries to exist in the system into which they were introduced, but ultimately decides that the best thing they can do to win is not to play by the rules at all.
Early fandom tended to take the trolls' side regarding how adaptive was Feferi's relentless optimism and at least attempt to refuse to be a bad person. In text and probably internally, Feferi deals with a lot of pressure to be a certain way, and questioning of her motivations for acting otherwise. From a hopepunk point of view, and from the point of view that she's a victim of the same institutions as everyone else who refused to let all this make her cruel, we can examine the possibility that Fef really was doing the best she could, sincerely, at all times. Her existence was defined by struggle, albeit struggle that was different in kind from the rest of her society's struggle, and she didn't want to pass more suffering on to others. She wanted to flourish outside the "rules" of flourishing, which in her society said that it was inherently impossible and maybe even immoral to ensure flourishing for anyone else.
Now, is she phenomenally weird about it, does she not apprehend her own sociopolitical context contra those of her friends, and does she fail spectacularly? Sure, but she's also thirteen. At thirteen anybody's idea of saving the whales is going to be a little odd and disrespectful of the whales' agency - how much more so if they're a future absolute monarch (or human sacrifice) in a society that's totalitarian and soulless, and can only envision its opposite in a historical stifling paternalism?
Tumblr media
I'm, apparently, a Witch of Life myself, and maybe that biases me a little bit, but I think that what all of this means about the classpect is that a Witch of Life is someone who aims to manipulate or change or at least reject the circumstances of struggle and flourishing, the "life" about which people say "that's life" for people.
I think it's actually quite a noble thing to strive for if you're an adult, who has finished coming of age -- but to replace a system, one needs to be able to envision and make something that works in its stead. Even works only provisionally -- but works. Feferi never fully realized her potential to do this for her society, although her SBURB powers developed well; it seems like a similar type of journey should take place for other Witches of Life as well, in which control over bodily integrity, cellular life and well-being evolves into control over circumstances and conditions for themselves and others. Life at the micro and macro scale, broadening perspective from cell to ecosystem.
The journey is not easy, and requires experience and the cultivation of a particular type of thinking about oneself and the world that takes a long time and lucky experiences to achieve -- no wonder that at least one person forced by a possibly sadistic space cancer game to rush through a Life-related development process became Sea Hitler.
Tumblr media
Overview
Overall, Witch of Life is a very strong classpect potentially, with the ability to manipulate, alter or reframe life itself (life-force, biological matter and the abstract concept of flourishing) -- but the work required to realize oneself in it is something that we all struggle with, well past Feferi's age. Maybe that's why it was given to the single longest-living person in the cast?
A fully realized Witch of Life would have a developed sense of what to and what not to screw with, I think; they would be someone with a very strong sense of the way of things, and a very strong sense of what parts of it are truly essential. They would be able to bend their Aspect to their will, but also aware of the impact their will has on their Aspect, in a human carnivore's resolution of the enrichment paradox.
Was it Ursula Le Guin who once wrote that the more agency someone has, the more power someone has, the less they actually choose to do? The more choices are made, the fewer choices remain, until despite the fact that the world is open to you, there remains one "correct" way to go. I think this is probably something that Life players learn sooner than others -- but not in the way that Doom or Rage players do, where the focus is on the nature of inevitability or the application of zeal to do what you can do. For Life players, this process is underscored by a need to understand that while their own struggle is essential, everything else wants to live too, and there is no evil in that -- a shift from personal to system-focused thinking. Cell to ecosystem.
For Witches of Life, despite their ability to change their world, I think the real end goal on their journey in-game is coming to a place and time when they've struggled enough, meddled enough, done enough for the situation at hand, personally -- a literal journey through the life course and the different stages of involvement in the generational struggle, in miniature.
Oh, yeah, and they can sprout improbable vines from the ground and resurrect the recent dead, that's cool too.

Spotify ask: Vriskat and 88?
"What ever happened to falling in love?" Karkat's voice seems even gruffer than usual, and he won't look at Vriska where she's sitting at his cluttered table. "You're the one who left, Vriska. All of us."
Vriska nods, rolling a piece of paper on the table into a tube with the tip of one finger. "I mean, it was a pretty fucked situation, wasn't it? I had just died. Again." She says, because she knows that's a sore spot for him. Karkat has always been more sensitive about death than anyone else she knew. "The bubbles were... So big."
Karkat turns back around, holding two mismatched mugs, steaming and clearly full to the brim with black coffee. He probably doesn't even have creamer, fucking freak. "Why are you here, though? I don't need anything from you." He doesn't spill a drop when he puts her mug down in front of her, but manages to slosh his own mug in time to escape into the kitchenette before she speaks.
"I know you don't. Terezi does, but I can't... I can't see her now. I can't see anyone right now." Wrapping her fingers around the mug almost scalds, but in a way she can't help but grip tighter. "Besides you. I just-- I need someone, Vantas. It isn't like we were enemies."
He returns then, wiping the table with a stained towel. "We were barely friends." It isn't a lie.
She leans her head down, bowing it over the steam from the mug until her glasses are useless, and pushes them up to sit against her horns instead. "Yeah. That's why you're the best option. That and you let the fucking clown-- You still talk to Gamzee. I need someone to talk to. I need you to." She sighs, her throat tight in a way that makes her want to storm out, makes her fingers tighten on the mug until it cracks.
"Finish what you were saying." Karkat says, pulling the mug out of her hands. The bags under his eyes seem heavier than when she first met him, the downward curl at the edges of his wide, flat mouth more defined than before. He looks older. "And stop talking about my palemate. You don't get to talk about him."
That almost makes her laugh, and she shakes her head. "I just need you to tell me I'm allowed to be here. You're the leader. And I left. I left, and I died, and then I left again while I was dead, and now Meenah doesn't even want to talk to me again." She grits her teeth, eyes focused on the blurry outline of Karkat's horns. "Let me back in."
Karkat laughs. It's not the first time she heard it, because he wasn't as much of a joyless asshole before as he seemed to be now, but it shocks her anyway. His laughter is deep and clear and easy. "Why wouldn't you be allowed? I need all the help I can get, and you're the only competent person who isn't obsessed with their wife right now." He smiles, and the curls at the edges of his lips turn into dimples.
"Oh. Just... like that? I don't have to earn it?" Her hand snakes across the table, and she touches the back of his hand with two fingers; his skin is so warm, almost scalding. "I mean, that works for me, but I just thought, like. In the bubbles, uh, it was all about, you know. Being better. Proving it. Or something."
He takes a sip of his coffee, but doesn't take his hand away from hers. "That's not true. Everyone was being fucking disgustingly horny in the bubbles. You just went all soul-searching because you got a girlfriend who was into it." He turns his hand over, and closes his surprisingly wide, soft hand around hers. "I'm not chasing you out, Vriska."
She nods again. "You're such a softy, Vantas. I could walk all over you." Her grin feels different, in the body she's in now, now that she's corporeal. Her teeth feel cold. "Do you even have a heater? Gog, I'm freezing. How are you not cold?" She curls her hand more tightly in his.
"What, it's cold? Weakling." He snorts, taking the bait perfectly. She stands, walking around the small table without letting go of his hand, and he doesn't mention when she sidles up to the edge of his bench next to him. "Don't think I'm gonna go easy on you just because you went and grew some feelings, Serket. I'll smash you."
Vriska wraps an arm around Karkat's waist, leeching his heat, and nods. "I'd be pissed if you didn't."
