what’s a sports moment that lives in your head rent free?

the shots of the fans in detroit when the lions beat the rams in the wildcard round of the playoffs last season. that win was the lions’ first postseason win since 1992, and their second ever in the Super Bowl era. what got me to was when the camera cut to a man who had been a season ticket holder for 66 years, which is how long it’s been since the lions last won a championship.

have you been to a game? what was your favorite part?

ive been to a number of games for both NFL and NHL as well as several motorsport races and my favorite part is always the Sounds. people hate watching sports with me because I loveeee to turn the volume up to Experience Everything, but speakers just can’t compare to the way the sounds of the fans and the sport itself surround and envelope you and get under your skin.

hii!! so first off, thank you for your questions <3

second off, these answers turned out pretty long, so sorry in advance for that :D & I also apologise for the eventual grammar errors!

2. what sport moment made you cry? (happy)

the moment I've cried the most by far was after I met Karl for the first time (and also last lol- I haven't been to a ski jumping comp ever since) back in Rasnov where we talked a lot & gave me his autograph, I was genuinely so happy!! And fun fact, I was just scrolling through the berkutschi Rasnov archives this Christmas and I randomly found a picture with me and Karl there and I started intensely sobbing again because I thought there wasn't any picture of us (I haven't taken none)🥹

9. what's your earliest/an early sports memory?

this is a pretty emotional question to me, so I'll tell the story of how I fell in love with ski jumping

if I remember correctly, it was early january. It all happened while I was still in my kindergarten days, so i was around 5 years old. my grandma came to pick me up because my parents weren't in the country. as I arrived home she let me turn on the TV ( my parents didn't allow me to do that) and the first thing I saw was someone on the inrun (i cant remember who it exactly was but i think either gregor or sevi). and I kept on watching. important to mention is that I, an eastern european girl, was attending a german kindergarten, and I instantly admired the German / Austrian ones and wanted to be like them. I also liked how Sevi's last name, Freund, translated as friend or Freitag's means friday (i was 5, please have pity for me 😭). my love for ski jumping only grew further, and i slowly started liking other ski jumpers too (the first non german jumpers favourites were pero and anders fannemel, hehe) :)

18. favourite friendship/bromance between athletes?

4. what's the longest you've gone without watching a sport?

oooh, well, i can’t think of any period in my life where i wasn’t watching sports! but probably the few months in 2020 between the superbowl and the shortened mlb season bc of the pandemic, but i tried to fill the void watching the last dance on netflix 😂

9. what's your earliest/an early sports memory?

i remember my dad and my uncles watching baseball at my grandparents’ house and me peeking at it when i was like, 5? i certainly didn’t understand anything but i reckon i thought it looked fun lol also the fifa world cup when i was like, 8? i remember watching the games with my mom at the weirdest times bc it was in japan/korea lol

19. which player is growing on you?

ooooh i’m going to say (very reluctantly) that it’s bryce harper. he’s still kinda annoying and i honestly find it too fun having one-sided beef with him, but idk, maybe he is actually that good. who knows. WHO KNOWS! don’t take my word for it!

i've been thinking about iconic it girl reader who's only ever been known to have one boyfriend — a professional athlete. your relationship with each other was everyone's idea of couple goals, and the breakup that followed was quoted to be "amicable" and that the two of "came to an agreement that you were better off as friends" geez, did your PR teams have to word it like your relationship was all just some fucking contract? relax on the business professional tone. it's almost like they're not describing the best two years of your life.

now, a year later after the breakup that almost caused your break down, you're back and better than ever. you're about to launch your own beauty brand, you're gracing the cover of vogue, and you're protecting your peace by only focusing on yourself, your career, and your girlfriends. you don't date, and you especially don't date athletes. as a matter of fact, you actively avoid all of them like they carry the fucking plague. but when your publicist gives you a deal that you can't refuse (no, literally — it's a deal you can't refuse. read your contracts closely, kiddos), you find yourself thrust into a fake relationship with character. he reminds you of your ex for all the wrong reason; they play the same sport, they have similar attitudes, the same work ethic, the same drive and passion for the sport (and only for the sport...). but there's something different about him, too. he's... not as charismatic. he's kind of goofy, honestly, but he's cute enough to where it works in his favor. he's devoted to his sport, and yet, he finds the time to call his mom every week and despite the fact that this relationship is nothing more than a publicity stunt, he's surprisingly attentive to you, too...

but you've kept yourself and your heart safe by drawing a clear boundary. would you be willing to risk everything you've built up just to create something real with character? especially whenever your ex comes back into town, reopening old wounds and reminding you why you created these boundaries in the first place?

18) what's your favourite friendship???? I'm such a Matthew & Benny best friends (until the 4 nations) forever girly. And I know it's not the question but I also see all the shipping potential, we just always get sidetracked by other guys 😭

19) Which player is growing on you??

It's actually Quinn, in the sense that I have always liked him but I find myself more interested in him lately like I want to put him in a snowball and keep him on my nightstand.

Also from our guys I love Jesper and he's growing on me in the sense that I didn't know him before and now I know him and I'd kill for him (but then that's how I feel about most of our guys)

what team(s) do you support and why?

1) lifelong longsuffering lions fan. born and raised in detroit. i love my team even though they made me cry myself to sleep last night.

2) las vegas raiders. when you are a lions fan, you need a second team to keep you going (<- my dad’s philosophy which ive inherited). the raiders are absolutely not the team for that but. too late!

3) penguins because @malkwin got to me frog in a pot of slowly boiling water-style

4) due to the above philosophy i am Looking at the wild. i just think they’re neat.

who is your favorite player who has never been on your team?

ok i dont do teams for motorsports, i just follow/supoort individual drivers, but also i hate Red Bull so much that this counts: yuki tsunoda. he’s so awesome he’s so talented insert succession can we get him out meme here

have you met any athletes? who?

ive met half the indycar grid and several f1 drivers and, most notably, Barry Sanders!

basic answer, i know, but the 2016 world series :’) surreal moment! but tbh i also happy-cried in 2021 haha. oooh and the 2006 fifa world cup! team italy all the way!

8. who's your favourite player not on your favourite team + never been?

buster posey, for sure! i loved him since his rookie season and all through retirement, even though he was (and still is lol) always a giant!

12. do you have any collections (cards, jerseys, etc)?

okay. so. i am trying to collect baseball cards, but i have this very specific idea of the collections i’d like to have and i haven’t been so lucky finding many of them so far. but i’m trying! stay tuned!

also, for a while i did the fifa world cup panini sticker collections, but i only managed to complete the 2006 / 2010 / 2014 ones. i still have those tho, so they count lol
