Health Potion (for the chronically pained and/or ill)
Hello, yes, this will not cure anything. I am not claiming a miraculous fix all potion for those with chronic issues. What I AM claiming is that I'm pretty sure I have POTS and a few other things, and that making my Health Potion helps ME.
What to do & How to do it:
You will need
Drinking water. Can be tap, can be filtered. Can even be moon or crystal charged if you have the spoons.
Frozen fruit. I use frozen berries and cherries mix. You could use fresh, too, but let's be real - everything goes bad so quickly.
A little salt
A little natural sweetener, such as honey or agave. I skip this sometimes because my fruit is higher in sugar.
A very large cup with a lid and a straw, that's easy to wash.
Optionals: ice, lemon or lime juice, turmeric and herbal additives.
Salt to ground and balance, fruit for its health sustaining properties, water for its life Creating properties, sweetener to make things easier.
Mix together. Use your own internal correspondences for extra magical juice.
I do this to balance my electrolytes and keep up on my water intake - since I'm pretty much chronically dizzy and dehydrated. Plus, there's fruit in the end. I love me some fruit at the bottom of a drink.

Reposting my old post from my old deleted account (desertwaterwitch).
This is an easy protection/purification spell I did a few years ago. I’m no kitchen witch, but I was sick and I wanted to gain something from the food I was about to eat, so I did this.
1. Choose your soup
2. Sprinkle some basil in it! You won’t taste it.
3. Stir it clockwise so you bring that protection/purification to you. Tell it (in your head or out loud) what you’d like to gain from it).
The end! 🥣

Salt Scrub
Salt scrubs are a great way to incorporate physical cleansing into your routine - they help exfoliate, reduce inflammation, and improve blood circulation whilst also having the cleaning and protection qualities of salt, dried herbs, and oils. The recipe is easy, cheap, and quick making it one of the most accessible recipes I have.
Salt scrubs are not recommended for people with skin conditions or sensitive skin, and salt can dry out your skin so be sure to moisturize after use. As a rule of thumb, you should not use a salt scrub more than 1-2 times a week.
General Recipe:
1 cup of sea salt
1/4 cup of carrier oil
10-20 drops of essential oil
1 tbsp of herbs such as lavender, rose or chamomile and/or vitamin E oil (ensure they are crushed well)
In a bowl, stir together the salt and oil
Add the essential oil and herbs
Store in a sealed glass jar in a cool location until ready to use
To use a salt scrub, apply to damp skin in circular motions gentle for 20-30 seconds before rinsing well.
Weekly Cleanse Scrub
1 cup of salt of choice
1/4 cup carrier oil (jojoba, almond, vegetable, sunflower etc.)
10-20 total drops of lemon balm, tea tree, witch hazel and lavender
0.5 - 1 tablespoon moon water
1 tablespoon of dried lavender and lemon peel (optional)
1 tablespoon vitamin E oil (optional)
Venus-Inspired Salt Scrub
1 cup sea salt
1/4 cup of almond oil
1 - 1.5 tablespoons castor oil
10-20 total of drops of the following essential oils: rose, lavender, cedar wood and ylang-ylang or a attraction/love oil
1 tablespoon of dried rose petals
1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
As always, adapt the recipes as needed for what you have and to your own practice <3

Sneak Peek - Spoons In Spades
Tumblr media
At a little distance he saw a fire, and beside it there sat three giants, busy with broth and beef. They were so huge that the spoons they used were as large as spades, and their forks as big as hay-forks: with these they lifted whole bucketfuls of broth and great joints of meat out of an enormous pot which was set on the ground between them.
- Niels and the Giants (The Crimson Fairy Book)

-----
Intent: To give oneself additional “spoons.”
Ideal Timing: This charm can be made at any time.
Materials:
Spoons
Large Jar
Cotton Balls
Herbs: Hyssop, Rosemary, Thyme, Juniper Berries
When I asked my readers what sort of spells they'd like to see in this second volume of fairytale-inspired spells, one of the most strikingly popular responses was, "Is there a spell to give me more spoons?"
If you're not familiar with the term, "spoons" or spoon theory is a metaphor which describes the reduction in mental and physical energy experienced by people who are disabled or chronically ill, with spoons used as a unit of measurement to represent how energy and motivation must be rationed throughout the day to accomplish necessary tasks. Spoons are only replenished through rest or sleep, so once a person runs out of spoons, that's it for their day.
The term was coined by Christine Miserandino in her 2003 article "The Spoon Theory," in which she uses dinnerware to demonstrate to a friend how living with invisible chronic illness required careful daily planning and prioritization, and how even with the best intentions and efforts, tasks are often left undone due to a lack of energy or an increase in pain. The term has since been adopted by wide sections of the online community in relation to struggles with disability, chronic illness, or mental health, as a descriptor for daily energy and motivation levels, i.e. "I don't have the spoons for this," or "After a full day at work, I have exactly one spoon left, and I need it for laundry, so going out is off the table."
As someone who regularly battles ADHD, anxiety, executive dysfunction, migraines, and depression, I'm a big fan of spoon theory, largely because it makes those invisible daily struggles, which so many of us have, much easier to visualize and explain. So in honor of all my fellow spoonies, here is a spell to help you gain those critical extra spoons.
For this spell, you'll need a fair-sized jar, some healing herbs, and a bunch of spoons. You can use plastic spoons or metal ones, if you happen to have spare silverware lying around. Use as many or as few spoons as you feel you need. If you need more spoons than can readily be acquired, you might draw or print out pictures or spoons and use those instead.
Place the spoons in the jar with a big handful of cotton balls. Apart from their mundane medical and cosmetic uses, cotton has healing magical properties and also represents the comfort that may feel lacking on low energy or high pain days. If desired, add several pinches of Hyssop, Rosemary, Thyme, and Juniper Berries, or a sachet containing the herbs if you'd rather keep things neat.
Close the jar, give it a big hug, and say:
I bless this jar and spoons And ask for the strength to function; And when I need a helping hand, These extra spoons I'll summon,
Set the jar aside somewhere safe. If desired, you might want to label it. You don't want anyone borrowing your magical spoons for their cereal, after all. When you need an extra boost to help you get through the day, simply open the jar and take out a spoon. You can carry the spoon with you, place it on your altar, or discard it to activate the charm.
Please keep in mind that performing this sort of magic should always be accompanied by appropriate medical and self-care measures. Magic isn't going to cure a chronic illness or permanently alter your brain chemistry. But it can help you cope with the symptoms and give you that all-important push to get yourself through the day. Stay strong, witches!

new protection blend for low spoon witches (or anyone really)
Okay so you know how we can use eggshells for protection? And that you normally store them some variation of broken up?
Well I tried to put some of mine from breakfast in the coffee grinder....only to realize there was some coffee bean grounds in it. Now we also know that coffee can be used for grounding, and to make whatever you put it in (potions) more potent.
So naturally my chronically low spoon ass had a lightbulb moment and realized that this could work very well together.
So my point is save your spoons. As long as everything is shelf stable who the hell cares. Bonus points if it makes something stronger. Happy witching!

Let' start tracking those symptoms, Boi! All the support groups I'm in for hypermobility & chronic pain say that you should start tracking your symptoms as closely as possible while seeking diagnosis. Kinda helps you hold doctors accountable, and gives you a paper trail to back up your own research. Self advocacy, yall.

Reposting my old post from my old deleted account (desertwaterwitch) because it’s important to me. Enjoy my poorly made collage!
This is my “rosemary and salt” room cleansing spell. I’ve used it for a few years now and it’s still my go-to for cleansing my room of negative and unwanted energy (besides my spray). I use it a lot because I really do a number on the energy in my room because of my bipolar and anxiety, as well as constantly being sick (spoonie). I’ve also used it when an exterminator came and left some gross energy behind.
Here’s how I make it:
1. Get a bowl
2. Add some salt (I use table salt but any works)
3. Sprinkle some rosemary on top (I don’t mix it, I feel it works better that way)
4. Set it somewhere in the room. I hide it on my shelf because I’m in the broom closet.
————————
This is important! Dispose of it in one day because the salt will absorb that negativity and if you leave it for too long it will make your room “heavy” feeling.
To dispose of it you take it outside of the room and toss it in a trash can. Don’t keep it in the trash can in your room.
Hope this helps someone!

i celebrated the full supermoon in taurus today, as the aries energy yesterday wiped me out
i didn't do much, but i did make a healing charm out of ceramic beads to hang over my bed, and i took a ritual bath focused on healing
living with chronic illness sucks, but witchcraft does make it more bearable ❤️

Best tip I can offer for devotional days is wearing devotional oils when you lack energy. When your bones are heavy with fatigue and pain. It’s something you can place on your bedside table or leave on their altar space. Try your hand at making an infused oil. If you cannot make an infused deity oil store bought is completely fine.
I like to wear them as an act of devotion. I’ll dedicate my day of rest to my deities, which will help me carry them with me. It adds that extra bit of magic I need to the mundane to make me feel like I’m doing more. Sometimes, devoting rest does not feel like enough (even though it is), so this feels like a good remedy.
Check out my Infused Oils post if you want a how-to on creating oils.

Body Butter Recipe
This is the base for a basic body butter recipe, which is fairly quick, easy and cheap and good for those in the broom closet or (like me) are bouncing pay check to paycheck with low energy and money.
I love using recipe such as this one and my salt scrub recipe in self love rituals. Nothing screams decadence to me like spending extra time focusing on myself and my body. These types of spells are also great for glamours.
Basic Recipe:
3 cups shea butter of cocoa butter
1 cup carrier oil
a few drops of essential oil until desired scent is achieved
(optional) 1-2 tea spoons Vitamin E oil
(optional) 2 tablespoons cornstarch to thicken
Mix together the butter and oil, slowly ading your essential oils (or infused oils) until well mixed and you've achieved the desired scent - if your need to, you can heat up this mixture on a low heat to aid in mixing
If you desire a thick consistency, sift in your tablespoons of cornstarch into your cooled oil and butter mixture
Whip the mixture using an electric or hand whisk until desired consistency is reached and store in an airtight, wide rimmed container.
Self Seduction
3 cups shea butter
1 cup coconut butter
1 cup rosehip oil
a few drops of rose, lavender, ylang-ylang and sandalwood (or any other aphrodisiac oil or attraction/lust oils)
2 teaspoons vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon pink or red mica powder or food coloring (add more if needed, test on skin to ensure the colour doesn't transfer - optional)
Self Confidence Lotion
3 cups shea butter
1 cup carrier oil
1/4 cup aloe vera
2 teaspoons vitamin E oil (optional)
1-2 teaspoons water
a few drops of lemon balm, mint, jasmine, orange blossom (or other oils for confidence and prosperity)
As always, remember to adapt and change these recipe to fit your own practice and what you have on hand. Never feel like you have to follow exact recipes, diy your own spells and oils to what works best for you <3

I think one of the worst things about being a spoonie witch is when you finally get the mental/psychological urge to do something physical (clean or redeco an altar, perform ritual, craft, etc.) but your body is too tired, sore, exhausted, etc. to do so, or you don't have the spoons to spare.

I'm looking for ideas on building on my spiritual practices. Currently, I do:
Binaural beat meditations
Om meditations
Tarot
I'm working on learning a deeper understanding of astrology, like understanding birth charts
I'm pretty meh on spell work, though I make all-natural soaps and cosmetics, so I have a lot of herbs, plants, and essential oils, I just have never found any real practical use in it.
I'd like to hear any other suggestions of practices to look into that aren't super-involved, or time, and energy-consuming.
