Help I adore them 😭😭
Hex is my bold jumping spider and the first little guy that is actually relatively chill with being On me.
10 years ago the idea that I would be happy to hold a spider would have sounded outrageous to me. Jumpers have done wonders for my arachnophobia and teaching me to love and find wonder in places many others do not. 🖤🖤

Variations of Female x Regal Jumper (Phidippus Regius)
All subjects collected in the wild on the coast of North Florida. First and second shot are simple stacks of a few exposures, while the last is a single shot. Last shot photographed with a Nikon D300 paired with the Sigma 105DG on a half stack of tubes, first two stacks are with a 28mm f3.5 Ai-S Nikkor reverse mounted.

How has this tarantula spider pillow not sold out yet?! It's 60% off and I don't need another one but it's just wild to me (although I do know a lot of people have arachnophobia / same). Spider lovers, go get it. It didn't sell well so they probably won't bring spider things back next Halloween. 😞

This is Frank.
I love them so much.
They're such a cute baby that loves to hunt things that move.
I believe that they're a bold jumper (Phidippus audax), and they're in their 7th instar.
He has a cute temporary habitat until the Tarantula Cribs enclosures come in a few weeks. And yes, it's a bk icecream cup with holes poked into it. It works.

DIYed by yours truly from a stick, a fake stem, popsicle sticks, hot glue, some string, a few magnets, moss from outside, and some dollar store flare with the sunflowers. They love running around in it.

I got so stuck on what to draw for today’s prompt that I’m just going to come back to it. As a placeholder please accept (harder) daddy long legs. Sorry.

Did you guys know I love and keep jumping spiders? 👀
One of my more unorthodox pets but I’m really in love with them. These are my three current kids, the first one I just brought home from the local reptile expo today! A female regal I’m thinking of naming Helena. The middle one is my bold jumper, Hex. And the last one is still my tiniest little guy, a red backed jumper I called Harley! I had to use one of my macro shots of that one as they’re still too small to photograph well on my phone!

P. Otiosus (subadult male)
P. Regius (adult female)
Two Salticidae species from Florida that are known to cross breed in nature.  Regius are far more common, I used to find them everywhere.  Despite a lot of collecting, I very rarely came across P. Otiosus in the wild.  Both are quite large, colorful examples of jumping spider.

He's so tiny! Crazy to think he's going to get so big in the future–though, curlies grow SUPER slowly, so you have another while. I hope he ends up growing into a very chill tarantula (which is very likely considering the species being known to be docile).
Amazing choice for a first (is it your first?) tarantula. I doubt you'll stay only having one though, tarantulas are addictive (I know, it sounds bad, but I swear it's a common phenomenon).
Just one thing, though you probably know this already. Curlies are an arid species, so make sure you don't spray his enclosure TOO much, and give him a water bowl when he's big enough to drink from one (water bottle caps work perfectly)
