"Severian, the Torturer" - Super inspired by the "Book of the New Sun" saga by Gene Wolfe, I made this fanart of the protagonist. The novels are a fascinating mix of sci-fi and fantasy that would be very difficult to adapt to another medium, but they reminded me a lot to "Vampire Hunter D", with all that that implies. I plan to do do a small risograph edition in the near future.

Over the summer of 2021, I came across the works of socialist artist Ben Shahn and was immediately enamored with his unique style, which I then attempted to replicate via a self portrait. This was a lot of fun to draw and it came together surprisingly quickly

I inked my Lara illustration. I'm planning on inking the sketch with traditional inks as well so this was a warm up for that.

Man you have no idea how much I wanted to do a Storm piece, especially in the X-Men Red outfit; it took me a while to figure out what kind of pose I wanted to do, but also to gain the confidence in my ability to draw it to pull it off for multiple elements.

There's a few things I want to go back and, I feel like iron out is a poor choice of words, but touching up is also not a good one; that implies there's something wrong, when I just like tinkering and I also realize that endlessly chasing perfection is somewhat pointless in art; but overall and aside from nitpicks I'm very happy in what I ended up putting out there.

Let this be a lesson in self-esteem, I guess?
