what will this blog include?

i plan on posting once i finish a book basically and about the books/mangas i've already read. i don't know how heavily i'd analyze them but i would review them, maybe spoil them WITH CENSORSHIP so no one doesn't forcefully get spoiled, and definitely my opinions on books!

what books do you like?

i've been unfortunately stuck in a specific genre known as splatter-punk. so warning before you go farther into this blog(NOT THIS EXACT POST), i'll make a bigger and better warning, it's graphic. this genre of books is good if you ever wanted to genuinely feel the feeling of, "i'm too horrified to turn the page". i also enjoy sci-fi, anything related to alice in wonderland, and any manga really. unless it's just straight porn, not my cup of tea. recommend me some books of other genres and i'll try to branch out!

How often will you post?

this is the blog that will most likely get the least amount of attention compared to my other blogs. reading is definitely a hobby of mine but if i get bored, i will in fact hold off on that book. this will vary but i made this to encourage me to read more, hopefully.

I love surreal horror and dark fiction, so I wanted to make a list recommending some of my favorites!

(I’m going to include some trigger warnings with each recommendation but I am doing it from memory so please, use your own discretion before reading any of these.)

1. I’m Thinking Of Ending Things. It’s an excellent subversion on the thriller genre and I highly recommend you go in as blind as possible.

(TW: mental illness, suicide, stalking, animal death)

2. Fever Dream. Appropriate to its name this one reads like a Fever Dream, its quick, abstract, and bitting. It’s covers something rarely talked about but definitely horrifying, and it dose an amazing job of it.

(Child suffering, disability, animal death, poisoning, parental stress)

3. The Vegetarian. This book is a bit less mind bending as the others on this list but it’s no less strange or incredible. Taking even the seemingly mundane and twisting it to something tense and thought provoking. I’ve never read anything else like it.

(Sexism, SA, abuse, body horror, starvation, meat.)

4. Woom. This one’s by a very large margin the most disturbing, so be carful. i find it genuinely difficult to articulate what I like about it. It’s a psychosexual nightmare, bordering on splatter punk, which is not what I normally read. most of the time I wouldn’t enjoy this kind of over the top depravity boring, but there’s something so compelling in the way the prose are written that it kept me gripped and stilling thinking about it to this day.

(Tw: everything honestly do not read this if you don’t have the stomach for extreme horror. Most notably SA, intense gore, body horror, and pregnancy horror.)

5: Rant: An Oral Biography Of Buster Casey. This is my all time favorite book. If your familiar with Chuck Palahniuk’s other work then you’ll know some of what to expect in this one, though I’d argue it’s out there even for him. Grimy to it core, this book’s atmosphere is amazing. Real feeling character set in this bazaar world, fallowing logic close to, but not quite our own. It is an experience to read.

Halfway through Playground by Aron Beauregard and I already know this will be one of my top favorites read this year

Oh my my my…. First hour notes! Terrifier 2

If you enjoyed the first Terrifier, you’re going to enjoy this. Some things: 1. I still have no idea how Art has been resurrected. 2. I’m not really into the subplot of the victims late father being tied somehow to Art by drawings? I shouldn’t say “not into” I’m actually not clear on this aspect either. 3. The gore is unbelievable. 4. The guy that plays Art is exceptional and even a little endearing. 5. So far most of the performances have been serviceable, although something about what appears to be our final girl leaves a more competent actress to be desired. (Initial thoughts, of course) 6. I had to make a conscious effort to pull myself away from the tv. That’s the best compliment I can give a movie like this. Pt. 2 doesn’t seem interested in one-upping the first film. Instead it’s paying fan service delivering on the standards set by the first. Excited to have some questions answered! Have at you!
