accidentally starting to believe the Charles fell first, Edwin fell harder agenda...

like we've all joked about how at face value Charles is the one who acts more like he's crushing than Edwin, the things he says, how clingy he is, the way he looks at him even from episode 1. Even, I'd argue, the way he looks at Edwin when they first meet, and him smoothly bringing up kissing and then more obviously trusting and enjoying Edwin's company enough after those few hours to stay with him rather than passing on to his afterlife. I don't think he clocked it as romantic when they met or even in the 30 years between then and the show but I think that what they have kind of transcends labels anyway. As if he's been falling ever since they first met and just hasn't really realised what that means yet, so he hasn't hit the ground yet. Charles loves Edwin and he has such a open heart and fondness for Edwin, it's hard to believe he wouldn't have fallen first.

With Edwin we actually get to see the whole journey he goes on that helps him realise his feelings and it hits him like a tonne of bricks, after 30 odd years of being best mates suddenly Edwin's forced to come face to face with the fact he's in love with Charles, not that he's falling or starting to fall but that he's right there, in love already. Fell harder.

welcome back to another post of me being indescribably angry about wasp haters. If you hate wasps just for existing, you get zero respect from me. If you think wasps should be exterminated, you get subzero respect from me, and also a small amount of pure unadulterated hatred. You don’t have to like wasps, hell I can’t say with confidence that I wouldn’t reflexively swat at one if one came near me, but ffs the amount of vitriolic hatred I see towards them is insane. Even when they’re doing nothing wrong people hate them and it makes me so mad. You can see a picture of a nice little wasp having a snack and the comments are all about how they hate wasps and want them dead. I hate you all!!! I’m probably a little too mad for how little it matters in the grand scheme of things but whatever. Wasp hate makes me SO mad, it’s so unfair. How the fuck can anyone possibly say that an entire species should go extinct just because they’re mean sometimes?? And I say “mean” in the sense that they can be aggressive, they’re not actually mean, they don’t sting people because they find it to be so much fun and they just love witnessing human suffering. They are insects??? They aren’t serial killers who enjoy suffering??? They’re territorial creatures??? Do not care how pissy you are that you once got stung, I sat on a wasp when I was like 4 and I’m not out here trying to kill every wasp I see. It’s not the wasp’s fault that a dumbass toddler sat right on it. Literally every creature out there is fucked up by human standards in some regard, but you don’t see people rallying to kill all dolphins or whatever because that would be, rightfully, seen as insane!! How can it ever be driven through these people’s skulls that killing off an entire species is bad and that creatures aren’t evil?? I could go on for hours but I will not. wasps are great and I will love and defend them forever. If it were summer and the wasps were out, I’d be taking so many pictures of these precious gifts to mankind, but nooooo, it’s winter, and there’s a polar vortex going through so it’s like 10 degrees out. but just you wait wasps. once June hits, I am coming for you with a DSLR camera and a sugary drink for you to enjoy. at a respectable distance.

Did Alastor mock Vox for getting a wheelchair or congratulate him for coming to terms with how his body is and finaly getting himself the help/accomodations he needs to thrive?

I Think Alastor would be more congratulative than mocking, other than the fact Vox hadn't gotten one before already. Maybe a comment or two, but I think that's just from their constant back and forths. PROBABLY something about him looking shorter but Vox is at an optimal Trip-Alastor height so honestly Al better be careful.

hey anon, sorry for the delay in replying, I was on holiday!!!

which is absolutely my first piece of advice - schedule a break, schedule a holiday if you are financially able to. This is a sincere plea from someone who DIDN'T do this (or rather, whose first 'break' was wiped out by covid), and it's the one thing i wish I'd done differently. Right now, you probably feel like you can't take time off (you can!) and after you submit you might be focusing on financial solvency like i was (don't!). Schedule a break. I have now had 6 months of non-stop deadline chasing and work since my surgery, and sure enough the cracks show heavily. i'm tired, my emotional regulation is shot, and i'm not doing well. DON'T become me!!! Take a day or two off in these final few months to enjoy yourself, and schedule in a CONCERTED break to be head empty once everything is over, or risk exhaustion and burnout.

my other piece of advice is subject dependent but: the thesis doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done.

if you're a humanities student like i am, you will probably get corrections. your thesis could be the sistene chapel of theses, and it probably will still get corrections. so if you're pushing wordcount, or coming up against comments from your supervisor that just aren't feasible in the time you have left, then save the comment somewhere, then delete it from your current document. It can be a Corrections Era problem, not a Final Submission problem. do what needs to be done to have a submittable piece, action what feedback it's reasonable to action - and learn to trust your judgement on that! (sincerely, a me who still has issues with standing up to authority!!! I should've been deleting some stupid comments right out the fucking gate!!)

no one knows your thesis like you do. if there's feedback you don't agree with at this stage, cull it. if there's feedback that would take you over wordcount or that you just don't see the point of, cull it. trust in yourself as a scholar, and also know your limits. your supervisor isn't in your brain, and doesn't know how tired you are. There is a difference between essential feedback, and nice-to-haves, and at this stage the nice-to-have bandwidth is getting thinner and thinner. Action essential feedback, and then anything that is easy/quick to do, and will definitely improve your project. the rest can wait until post-exam x
